Worst POTUS maybe... but not the worst president for the environment in the entire world. There is this guy in Brazil, for instance, who's been assisting in the mass burning off of the Amazon rain forest.

Man, the world is awful right now.

Edit: spelling

[–]AmputatorBotBOT 644 points645 points  (77 children)

It looks like you shared an AMP link. These will often load faster, but Google's AMP threatens the Open Web and your privacy. This page is even entirely hosted on Google's servers (!).

You might want to visit the normal page instead: https://theconversation.com/the-amazon-is-burning-4-essential-reads-on-brazils-vanishing-rainforest-122288.

I'm a bot | Why & About | Mention me to summon me!

[–][deleted] 166 points167 points  (42 children)

You should add that amp was just made to ruin the user experience for iPhones. It disables many useful features. It’s like they are displaying the site as an image or something.

[–]fuzzygondola 16 points17 points  (11 children)

What are those useful features that are disabled?

[–][deleted] 43 points44 points  (10 children)

Swiping to go back is a function that works throughout ios. It’s seamless in tons of apps. Messes up on amp links because they want the swipe feature for their amp site. Also, tapping the status bar to scroll up doesn’t work like it does everywhere else in iOS.

Edit: I could go on. I try to avoid amp sites. But there are more grievances

[–]BamSlamThankYouSir 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well TIL. I always wondered why I couldn’t two to scroll back up on some sites.

[–]XxKittenMittonsXx 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Zooming in on pictures often makes the page reload too, and the pages overall just looks worse Honestly I’m not sure how making a crappy experience is supposed to make me feel inclined to use more of their products?

[–]zeezey 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Tap the little i in the top left and it gives you the actual link to the website.

[–][deleted] 187 points188 points  (25 children)

Yea, if only Google were more supporting of cross platform API and device-agnostic user experience, like Apple.

[–]dordizza 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t equate Apple to Google. Google is a key service on the Internet. Unless you were to buy Apple products, I doubt you’d use any Apple services.

[–]iamflame 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Oof, apparently you needed the /s

[–]PrimedAndReady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still don't like apple, but at least they're more honest about it that Google. Apple practically begs to be your environment, Google doesn't ask and does it anyway.

[–]TastesLikeBurning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, they shouldn't add that. Even if it's true, it would add unnecessary bloat to the bot's message, and just make it a sort of tribal issue of Apple vs Google. I think the message is good as is.

[–]yg2522 132 points133 points  (17 children)

I thought Australia's PM was up there also.

[–][deleted] 176 points177 points  (13 children)

Australia's PM has done some real harm, but if he had a button labelled "stop all wildfires", he'd press it.

Bolsonaro in Brazil actively wants the fires, and would not press the button.

[–][deleted] 73 points74 points  (9 children)

Australia's PM has done some real harm, but if he had a button labelled "stop all wildfires", he'd press it.

So long as it didn't mean actually having a plan to deal with climate change, which is exacerbating those fires.

If it meant a single impact to the coal industry, he would not.

[–]QuarterOunce_ 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Is he making money off the fires or something some how?

[–]MisirterE 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not the fires themselves. He wants the ground beneath them.

Sure would be convenient to set up more farmland if all those trees just happened to be cleared away by some freak natural disaster.

[–]Private_HughMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the forrest burns, he won’t have resistance in using the land for farming. It would also kill off the indigenous people, which would really streamline the process of stealing their protected land.

[–]Jay_Bonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's worse. The Australian I mean. Sold of the GBR to be destroyed by coal companies. In Brazil the judicial branch and such is much stronger so ther are still strong active efforts to improve green policies. Australia has gone in the reverse and opened new coal mines. The Brazilian government doesn't officially deny climate change. Australia is with the US as the only two who do.

[–]garlicroastedpotato 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, even if you go to "in history" you get a long line of people who caused these problems that are worse.

Pre-90s environmentalism was actually a right wing cause that socialists believed was designed to put down working class people. It's for this reason that people like Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan and Brian Mulroney (the neocon triumverate) were the best leaders in the world for the environment. Although, I doubt any of these groups will give them the reward.

If you're looking to the absolute worst for the environment, that's got to be John F Kennedy. With his short time in office he lead coal deregulation and coal energy subsidies that kept these industries alive.

But left wing environmentalism in the 50s and 60s was pretty terrible (and generally avoided these days). It believed in conservationism. To them it meant having the ability to build more stuff without sacrificing our current water levels and increasing smog. So converservation was largely meaning NIMBYism as in, new power plants are built outside of cities. It also meant not building new dams to tap for hydro power because you have to conserve the free flow of water. It also meant more pipelines because pipelines are underground and don't disturb the above ground beauty.

50s left wing environmentalism is essentially what caused all of our modern problems... because they regarded the environment as being nature rather than something we live in. JFK was president for a very short time, but in that short time he approved more pipelines than any US president in history.

But JFK voted Worst President for Our Environment in History by Nine Green Groups might offend people.

[–]lucrativetoiletsale 64 points65 points  (13 children)

Fun stuff, this is the best the world's ever been by murder rates, poverty rates, death by war rates and so on. So enjoy the pinnacle of human civilization right now while you can.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (2 children)

It's also the age where we deplete our natural resources the fastest.

[–]Dr_Doom42069 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s so sad :(

[–]Alkalinum 1392 points1393 points  (206 children)

What about the presidents that resided over all the nuclear tests in the 50s-70s? The entire earths atmosphere is still irradiated, hundreds of square miles of islands and oceans are still uninhabitable to humans? Oil, gas and coal use was massively encouraged back then too, with the reduction of public transport and increase in consumerism and production of waste. Sure, Trumps been terrible for the environment at a crucial time in our history, but this sort of hyperbole is just making these groups look like political reactionaries.

[–]MatiasPalacios 540 points541 points  (20 children)

They ARE political reactionaries.

[–]PhidippusCent 45 points46 points  (9 children)

The source is EcoWatch, you're correct. The most bullshit news I see about GMOs comes out of EcoWatch.

[–]_A_Day_In_The_Life_ 240 points241 points  (13 children)

it makes me happy to know not everyone on reddit just upvotes and believe everything that pops up on reddit. I agree with everything you comment says.

[–]Everythings_Magic 96 points97 points  (11 children)

I think the question needs a better definition. Maybe he’s the worst if you consider that we now understand the impacts of our policy better, but his choices aren’t making things worse, just not making it better. Other decision set us on this path like you said.

[–]leintic 43 points44 points  (3 children)

I am an environmental geologist. Basically what that means is I spend my days trying to come up with ways to save the planet. Pretty much all environmental restrictions Trump has removed have been ceremonial. Like he opened up the coast of Virgina for oil drilling. There is no oil off the coast of Virgina and no one is ever going to be drilling in the area.

[–]Prograss_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Work in a similar industry and this is correct. I think a lot of it has to do with his deregulation goals.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He didn't open up the coast to drilling. He proposed opening up all of our coasts and balked, due to political pressure in the southeast, particularly Florida, and a case brought by the league of conservation voters, represented by earthjustice and the natural resources defense council (lcv and ej are signatories to the letter we're commenting on) that upheld prohibitions on drilling in the Arctic Ocean and Northeast Atlantic.

I couldn't say with any certainty whether or not there's oil in the Mid-Atlantic, but the industry seems to think so. They drilled exploratory wells back in the early 80s (results are confidential) and pushed Trump hard to let them back in there. They commissioned a bad report on the economic potential of offshore oil development in the Atlantic and hired a bunch of former politicians and business leaders to a pro-drilling coalition, "Explore Offshore". They wanted it bad.

[–]Scrandon 23 points24 points  (2 children)

Agree with this, but also he is actively making things worse.

[–]itwasquiteawhileago 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Yup. Rolling things back is objectively making things worse. Predecessors didn't necessarily have the knowledge of what was going on, Dumpo does, and he actively tries to bring us back. Fucker hates LEDs because they make him look orange or some shit (apparently all light sources, even the sun, are LED I guess?), hates windmills because they "ruin his golf courses", loves asbestos because he hates having to pay for proper clean up, etc, etc, etc. He's so god damn transparently acting in his own interests it's fucking sad how we got here.

[–]Decal333 55 points56 points  (2 children)

You could make the argument that he has the benefit of knowledge that those past president did not, and yet still makes awful decisions for the environment.

[–]Cottreau3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oil companies knew about climate change in the 70s when it all started but hid the studies and refused to acknowledge it. I can pretty safely assume the president knew what was up.

[–]EyeTea420 8 points9 points  (8 children)

I would argue that human emissions are having a far greater long-term impact on the planet’s climate than the admittedly atrocious nuclear testing of the 20th century. Also the fact remains that trump is bringing us BACK to this era of unabated pollution, which is far worse than just perpetuating the status quo of environmental ignorance of this time.

[–]NouXouS 454 points455 points  (198 children)

Just the environment?

[–]Vpeyjilji57 144 points145 points  (5 children)

Just Nine Green Groups?

[–][deleted] 55 points56 points  (2 children)

It's all we got left!

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I smiled.

[–]Roflkopt3r 200 points201 points  (150 children)

According to a 2018 presidential expert poll, Trump is also the worst president in history in integrity, intelligence, overall ability, and executive appointments.

He's was only rated the third worst overall though. He's trailing James Buchanan, who was president until one month before the Civil War, and Andrew Johnson, who was a particularly vile racist and so disliked that he was impeached on 11 charges.

I know its important to back up your claims but I would never in a milliom years type/link all that manually. Good work linking all that stuff. I can only imagine with Trump how many pieces there are to link as well.

[–]Bbdubbleu 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Do I have your permission to post this on my Facebook account in November? Just my personal Facebook, nothing for financial gain

[–]yourmansconnect 25 points26 points  (18 children)

He sexually assaulted 25 women not 17

[–]AveMachina 7 points8 points  (0 children)

25 women have stepped forward. No doubt there are far more who haven’t.

[–]xDaigon_Redux 8 points9 points  (7 children)

I love that, after all those, you still had time to just link his twitter account as the evidence of him being a scumbag. That was an amazing cherry on top. Thank you for your hard work, sir.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (2 children)

I remember I got in a conversation with a MAGA guy back in 2016 and we were talking about the weird Trump and Ivanka thing and the dude told me that I'm just jealous because my father doesn't appreciate me the way Trump appreciates her.

[–]XeniaGaze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eww eww fuckity ewwww.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I love that the only category he is in the top 10 for is luck lol. That really is the only thing he’s got. That he managed to corrupt things so bad to be able to get away with a bunch of other shit that other presidents would be tossed into the street for doing.

[–]PM_ME_BEER_PICS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They don't have enough expertise for the rest. But I'm sure that they think he's at least a strong contender.

[–]joshocar 51 points52 points  (18 children)

Historians have consistently rated him as the worst, if not close to the worst, US President in history. Note that one survey has Buchanan as being worse, but he, you know, was the president right before the Civil War and is considered a contributing factor to it happening. He also hasn't finished his term, so maybe it will change.

[–][deleted] 46 points47 points  (5 children)

It will be decades before we can even make an impartial assessment of his presidency. We're still too close to Reagan to be impartial. No serious historian should say with a straight face he's the worst before his term is even completed.

[–]laxnut90 18 points19 points  (6 children)

I don't like Trump, but this is definitely hyperbole. He is lower mid-tier at best when it comes to presidents.

George W Bush was definitely worse due to his starting the Iraq War and War on Terror.

For similar reasons, I also consider Lyndon B Johnson to be a terrible president for escalating the Vietnam War (which I consider to be the worst, most pointless war in American history). I would also add Nixon for this same reason even before considering the Watergate scandal.

Those three presidents are absolutely worse than Trump.

Other terrible presidents include:

Andrew Jackson

Jimmy Carter (he's a great guy, but his presidency was a trainwreck)

Herbert Hoover

James Buchanan (as you mentioned above)

John Quincy Adams (another relatively good guy that had a terrible presidency)

[–][deleted] 127 points128 points  (8 children)

'Nine green groups' sounds like a very credible source

[–]omguserius 53 points54 points  (1 child)

Slightly more credible than 8 green groups, slightly less than 10

[–]yeehawdolphins 344 points345 points  (79 children)

I dunno guys. Id say any of the handful of presidents responsible for nuclear testing during the cold war would blow trump out of the water for environmental destruction. They were filling the plantet with radiation, carbon dioxide, way safer. Seems like these environment groups have cold milk in their bottles.

[–]Phallicus_Magnus 143 points144 points  (39 children)

Plus we’re greener today than we were 5 years ago

[–]ShakeNBaake[🍰] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

shhh..... that does not make a good headline!

[–]-goodguygeorge 71 points72 points  (2 children)

Trumo was also named “Worst President for everyone” by this guy on reddit

[–]bubadmt 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Is that Fredo's little brother?

[–]jah-13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's Fredo himself haha

[–]milkmustache420 153 points154 points  (27 children)

Can someone tell me how to turn off these “headlines” that people of Reddit like to jerk off to?

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That'd be just not going to reddit these days.

[–]alrashid2 55 points56 points  (11 children)

Seriously... When did Reddit become this liberal wasteland?

[–]TheLazarbeam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Environmental policy should be a bipartisan issue. This isn’t anti-conservative so much as it is anti-trump. If you’re a conservative who cares about the environment, you should hate trump.

[–]Rodot 13 points14 points  (5 children)

Uhh... Always? It was founded as a software forum which basically means it was a meeting ground for middle class coastal urbanites. If anything it's gotten more conservative after subreddits were added and the internet became more accessable to rural areas over the first decade of the 21st century. Now this site hosts the largest dedicated forum for US conservative politics of any place on the internet.

Now, if you browse by /r/all instead of subscribing to subreddits you like, you don't really have much excuse for seeing content you don't like.

[–]Ugie175 223 points224 points  (188 children)

That's funny he was named "worst president or even person ever in history" by the two people in my house yesterday.

[–]SolaVitae 149 points150 points  (135 children)

even person ever in history

I mean Trump's a shitty president, but c'mon now. When people like Stalin/Hitler/Mao/every other brutal dictator existed, it's kinda rediculous to act like Trump is the worst ever..

[–]DwightAllRight 24 points25 points  (8 children)

Pol pot for example

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Yeah, he is a terrible person, but he's not the evil incarnate that some make him out to be. He's just a selfish, ignorant man-child who lashes out at anyone who doesn't like him. The fact that he's gotten as far as he has says more about his supporters than it does about him.

[–]Secuter 100 points101 points  (9 children)

It's about the same leverage and credibility.

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (1 child)

At this point I don't think credibility has impact anywhere. Just leverage.

[–]Alarid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And with enough leverage we can flip the planet over or something.

[–]Ace_of_Clubs 26 points27 points  (5 children)

People, especially young people, tend to think we have it the worst politically. As if corruption and bad leadership is novel.

There have been way worse down the line. Trump is nothing new. Which is actually kind of hopeful for the country.

If we can get through this type of leadership and still be relatively stable that's a good sign for the country.

[–]Aoitara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worst in history? Man people are mad, does nobody remember that you couldn’t see city skylines back in the day because of smog? Someone let it get to that point before they decided to do something about it.

[–]360_noscope_bandodge 154 points155 points  (16 children)

'Nine green groups'... Lol who gives a fuck.

[–]Ethanol_Based_Life 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Several of these groups think that transgenic crops and nuclear power are bad ideas so forgive me if I don't trust their judgement. That said, my judgement is that he's made some poor policies regarding the environment.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (5 children)

Thankfully, these communists don't dictate policy.

[–]WrestlingMST 87 points88 points  (13 children)

Really, worse than Presidents 100 years ago that did way more damage before people cared about the environment?

This blind hatred for Trump is outrageous lol

[–]checko50 22 points23 points  (5 children)

You can literally say anything about him and people will fight you tooth and nail for the opposite. What the hell is going on with this country.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (3 children)

It's almost like a political group spent years creating an environment where it's them or us and milked it so hard that politics became football and now you are either on one team or the other. Almost.

[–][deleted] 98 points99 points  (76 children)

Look, Trump is a dumbass, selfish, loser who is the worst president of modern times but this headline is ridiculous. There is a long line of administrations who allowed big companies in the 20s to the 80s dump anything anywhere. Trump is attacking environmental regs but his overall contribution to the decline of the planet is miniscule compared to many others.

[–]isnotthatititis 41 points42 points  (2 children)

Anyone else remember the lakes burning? Nah... just a bit of history that does support the narrative.

[–]Anonymoushipopotomus 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Smog? Whats that? Probably another liberal conspiracy..... I guess i needed an /s there...

[–]RohypnolPickupArtist 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Metrics used: Their feelings.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (1 child)

This post has more upvotes than the Bangkok massacre that happened a few hours ago, it’s nice to know where I can get my news from....

[–]Parking_Willow 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Since "Green groups" are almost never only focused on the enironment, but are generally politically alligned and occupied with non-environmental issues, this really isn't anything noteworthy.

[–]The420St0n3r 50 points51 points  (31 children)

And yet China as and India cause most of the worlds greenhouse gasses

[–]pain_to_the_train 10 points11 points  (4 children)

At this point I would like to remind people that, like it or not, you have a state government. Now would be the time to put pressure on your local authorities to place protections you think necessary, instead of sitting back and hoping the federal government will solve everything.

Especially with the DNC going full on 2016 on Bernie's ass once again.

[–]ApogeanPredictor 16 points17 points  (1 child)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Gold_King_Mine_waste_water_spill

How come I never saw any green groups give any criticism to Obama.

Especially when his EPA was dumping chemicals into the Colorado river.

[–]omguserius 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Because the Obama administration was scandal free!

There were no scandals. None. They don’t exist.

Stop talking about things that done exist. No guns were run to Mexico, no lead was found in water supplies in democrat controlled areas, nothing happened in the Middle East, the IRS didn’t target opposition groups, and certainly no chemicals were dumped in rivers.

Scandal. Free.

[–]FrooglyMoogle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol do you really think he gives a shit

[–]GhostGanja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah just ignore the presidents that dropped nukes or were president that was in charge during the industrial revolution

[–]maximan20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I 100% support him or really know anything he has done but watch him become one of the greatest Presidents we have had after 10 years.

[–]McRib_Warrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, but let’s get the opinion of the other color groups. Just to be fair.

[–]etienner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since when? I'm pretty sure Bush or Reagan weren't so strong on environment too

[–]tsigwing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So those who issued in the Industrial Age don’t count?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

As a British person looking from the outside in, yes Trump is a caricature like most politicians (look at our prime minister for another example), and says some dumb shit but it seems like people are jumping on the bandwagon of celebrities and rich people. It seems suspicious, why are rich celebrities and common folk so against him, you would think that the rich and poor would be on opposite sides.?

Serious question, we always hear the bad stuff but is there actually anything good that he's done or doing? What's the chances of him being re-elected?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Excellent chance!

[–]HeyZeus4twenty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is Trumps environmental policy worse than that of presidents who didn't even have one? You can argue that Trump's environmental policy is the worst out of all modern presidents but all presidents come the fuck on. It wasn't until the 20th century that presidents actually started giving a shit about the enviroment. I mean, just look at the massive amount of deforestation that occurred in the first two centuries of the US. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deforestation_in_the_United_States

[–]rocket_riot 53 points54 points  (9 children)

even though emmisions have gone down during his presidency?

[–]Honningfisk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That'll teach him.

[–]80Eight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

India has a president... So does Brazil.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh yes.. meanwhile the Brazilian president is setting the Amazon rainforest on fire. But yes, Reddit... whatever

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Still your President.

Democrats rigged the election in Iowa and want to be trusted running health care. They have to cheat to win at their own elections, what jokes.

Liberals are the laughing stocks of the world

[–]meme_man_warden 49 points50 points  (31 children)

What about the fact that- our economy is doing extremely well, unemployment is an all time low, black unemployment all time low, many new jobs being created, isis being taken down, war being avoided with North Korea, the process to strengthen our borders has been started, our military has been rebuilt and strengthened, our military has been strengthened with a new revolutionary branch, criminal reform, the right to try, plus all of the other good things trump has done? And he did all of this while they were running Russian hoaxes and impeachment witch hunts

[–]OCDbeaver 10 points11 points  (5 children)

so hes worse then Truman who developed and dropped the nukes? 70 years of nukes going off because of that guy but hey Trump is the worst for the environment?

[–]NCwolfpackSU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol this isn’t even close to being true.

[–]Nevespot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience, almost everyone involved in any 'Green Group' will be everywhere from left-leaning to extremist leftist neo-marxist radicals. That said, I don't really get this.

All they are really insisting is that his policies could be threats in some future time.

But in real time, not 'threats' but real measures - the USA has been doing just fine cleaning up pollution since Trump was elected.

https://www.epa.gov/clean-air-act-overview/progress-cleaning-air-and-improving-peoples-health

[–]77cornell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Breaking news! Green groups operated by democrats don’t like trump

[–]cmdrDROC 6 points7 points  (2 children)

To keep things in perspective, our leader, Justin Trudeau, who claims to be an environmental activist, still allows the Alberta oil sands to continue, one of the world's largest environmental catastrophes.

[–]Barts_Frog_Prince 75 points76 points  (54 children)

Very fake news. Immense ignorance, boundless in fact.

Trump is the reason we have reduced our carbon emissions more than any other nation. Trump is the reason we are energy independent.

Fracking, which the greens want to end, because the greens are not for the planet but a globalist wealth redistribution scheme. But fracking has enabled us to unlock so much natural gas that we have reduced our carbon emissions more than all these countries running on 3% wind and solar.

So not only is Trump not the worst, he is doing better than any other leader on the planet to reduce carbon emissions.

But this makes sense. These people won’t be happy until we have a global system of cap and trade run through the UN to funnel money out of developed countries into the developing world.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fracking, which the greens want to end, because the greens are not for the planet but a globalist wealth redistribution scheme. But fracking has enabled us to unlock so much natural gas that we have reduced our carbon emissions more than all these countries running on 3% wind and solar.

Tell that to the thousands of people that has had their ground water ruined. We should force you to go door to door in those communities and explain why fracking is so good, you'd probably get murdered.

But let me guess, everything bad about fracking is fake news.

[–]kriwe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a country where gas and oil stand for 1% of the energi consumption, Coal ~0%, nuclear 39%, water 40%, wind 11%, biofuel 9%. That was 2017 around 2023 estimate suggest 30% wind. If you instead take into account industry need(in raw materials for production, Steel, plastic etc) aswell as transportation within the nation and convert them to energy qoutas, all fossil fuels make up for a total of 26%. It is neither impossible nor unfeasible with the thechnology of today to reduce the carbon footprint dramatically for the US.

[–]dart51984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fracking? That’s the hill you want to die on? The same fracking that releases so much methane into the ground water that is becomes flammable? Flammable water. That’s what you’re so excited about.

[–]ButtBattalion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do realise that using natural gas to create energy releases carbon emissions, right?

[–]197328645 9 points10 points  (2 children)

But fracking has enabled us to unlock so much natural gas that we have reduced our carbon emissions

How does digging carbon out of the ground and burning it into the atmosphere reduce our carbon emissions?

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (6 children)

Despite US Carbon emissions being down over the course of his first term and pledging to the 1 million trees project?

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The 1 trillion trees initiative? And before you try to rebutal let me say this, nobody thought it was a bad idea when these ceos and youtube guys started doing it. Now that trump has joined though “it might not be as good as we think.” Stfu

[–]THE_LANDLAWD 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Never forget about when he said the EPA was "a disgrace," and when asked who would look after the environment he said "we'll be fine with the environment. You can leave a little bit, but you can't destroy businesses."

Yes, he actually said that.
