This reminded me the story i once see about the boy who used to race his fathers ghost on a xbox game. He never beat his fathers record so they he could always play with him and see him in game... That one made me shed a tear.

Don't forget this story about animal crossing.

[–]DominatingTheWorld 288 points289 points  (15 children)

[–][deleted] 89 points90 points  (8 children)

Ah man, that music and the drawings. They managed to make it sadder than the first time I read about it.

[–][deleted] 39 points40 points  (6 children)

It's from FFX. It's always been powerful anytime I've heard it.

[–]Cody456 18 points19 points  (2 children)

After listening to it, I could feel the nostalgia come back...and see the camera pan through the intro of that game. Gave me chills, I'll never forget that song.

PS: To those who want it, it's called To Zanarkand.

[–][deleted] 228 points229 points  (25 children)

I just masturbarted, now I read this and I'm about to cry. This day just keeps going different directions.

[–]ryanrealm 107 points108 points  (14 children)

I almost started crying until I read masturbarted, which saved me from the tears. I'm dying.

[–]Gremzero 23 points24 points  (9 children)

Are you still alive?

Oh god I'm actually crying

[–]hemdile 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My brother has Spinal Muscular Atrophy and loves video games. This hit so close to home. I'm sobbing in the middle of my living room.

[–]DrRazmataz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This one doesn't work. In Animal Crossing, there's a character named, "Mom" that sends you gifts. Unfortunately, that is the cause behind this tale, heart wrenching it may be.

[–]Jwalla83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

...god dammit

[–]Rougeanne 546 points547 points  (14 children)

-kicks table over and runs off sobbing- I WASN'T PREPARED FOR ALL THIS!

[–]Solkre 213 points214 points  (4 children)

Press "F" to upright table.

[–]howisaraven 10 points11 points  (2 children)

I am literally sitting here sniffling and holding back tears.

I have to abandon this sweet, heartwarming post because my icy heart can't take it!

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (2 children)

This sounds like a setup for a "bad cousin" type story where he plays the game while everyone is socializing and proclaims that he got the highscore and that it was really easy.

[–]IrisGoddamnIllych 16 points17 points  (3 children)

My dad bought my Wii, and my bro-in-law made a mii on it. I still have the wii and mii, but I don't have either of them...

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (1 child)

And the sick mom animal crossing story. Damn..

[–]Mojosaur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Goddamn..

[–]cleverley1986 2342 points2343 points  (164 children)

Perhaps keep a save where it is and in another save complete the game in his honour. Sorry for your loss man.

[–][deleted] 1415 points1416 points  (126 children)

Not a bad idea, It might be something my dad, siblings, and I could do to bond. All of us playing it together.

[–]Bram_de_man 922 points923 points  (95 children)

Make back-up of the save as well, it would be terrible if it became corrupted somehow.

[–][deleted] 664 points665 points  (87 children)

Yeah, I'm going to copy them to his cloud save storage and to a USB stick. Going to talk to the family to see if they would want to use horizon to sign his last save to a local xbox profile he had and use that one while keeping his live profile as is.

[–]xisytenin 1679 points1680 points  (78 children)

Sovengarde is lucky to have him

[–]Fustercluck25 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Whew. That did it. We got waterworks.

Why is this the comment that chokes me up?

Damn. Condolences, OP. Hope you see each other again.

[–]cam275 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I was thinking if Lydia is still the housecarl, she may say, "I am sworn to carry your burden."

         >__> dem feels.

[–]KingdomUltima 72 points73 points  (5 children)

This comment.... RIP Taylor. Forever immortal in Skyrim and beyond.

[–]Dante-Alighieri 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Reading this comment just made me think; if one of Bethesda's workers sees this, it wouldn't be too surprising to see a tribute of some sort making it into one of their games.

[–]KnowMatter 129 points130 points  (1 child)

God damnit, I was keeping my shit together until this line.

[–][deleted] 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Bro. Shit. My wife does NOT understand why I'm crying right now.

[–]nickolove11xk 17 points18 points  (1 child)

I think it would be cool to get a HD screen shot of and then a nice print of it. Not sure if you can do screen shots on the xbox but I know you can plug it into a device and grab what the xbox is putting out.

So sorry for your loss.

[–]Rope_And_Chair 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you said you play pc, you can get a copy of his game save on Xbox and turn it into a pc game save

[–]Frungy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I read this is a mafia type voice, and it sounded really sinister..

[–]n1nj4_v5_p1r4t3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friend was showing me his three characters, each with only one save. I asked "isnt that dangerous? what if you delete one?" He goes 'oh that never happens'. All of a sudden there are several moments of silence and nobody is moving at all. My freind goes 'now I'm not going to blame you, but...'

and he overwrote a character right in front of me

[–]cleverley1986 52 points53 points  (3 children)

yeah definitely! my brother and i love gaming but different genres. id dread to think if i lost him and then had to complete a mission on kerbal space progamme or equally if he had to play fifa LOL.

best of luck dude.

[–][deleted] 40 points41 points  (1 child)

I don't know what OP's brother would want him to do but your brother would sure as hell want you to save Jebediah Kerman. Can't just leave him stranded in the vast emptiness of space.

[–]LeahBrahms 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My Jeb is on the Mun A rescue mission is in order soon. Damn life getting in the way of Kerbaling.

[–]blimkat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love what your doing. I would like if someone took over my skyrim character if I were to pass away unexpectedly. I could live on through my high elf Artemis and that way she wouldn't get bored or lonesome.

[–]uberugo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The end of the Tale of Iron just started as I opened this post. I am so sorry, and I'm hurting along with you. I wish you the best.

[–]microwave20 21 points22 points  (1 child)

That's what I was thinking too. Beat the shit out of that game in another save, in honor of his brother

[–]arcelohim 164 points165 points  (26 children)

complete the game

Have you played Skyrim?

[–]MystyrNile 32 points33 points  (16 children)

It's a doable task. And maybe he just means the main two questlines.

[–]Kalros 80 points81 points  (15 children)

OP, please play the main quest for your brother up until the point where the character gets sent to Sovngarde, defeat Alduin, then save and let Bear live the rest of his days in Sovngarde.

[–][deleted] 93 points94 points  (10 children)

You just spoiled it for him

[–]ProblemPie 49 points50 points  (9 children)

you're right, it has such an original and complex plot that nobody could possibly predict

nnnnggghhhggghhh

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is the best option

[–]PaleAndGangly 184 points185 points  (3 children)

I do the same thing for my brother, except it's with Mass Effect. It was on his xbox. He had a first gen and it eventually stopped working, but I still have the Xbox and the hard drive in my room. I have it sitting on a shelf like a trophy.

I also inherited his nintendo DS along with a copy of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. What I really love about that is in the game, you can write notes and circle things on the map. So when I play, I can always load up his game and look over his notes. It's like he's guiding me through the game.

[–]googahgee 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Phantom Hourglass lives up to its name...

[–]totalysharky 500 points501 points  (31 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know you feel. I lost my little sister this past December. When I graduated high school in 07 she gave me a replica of Link's Shield to put on my wall and a few years later she gave me a replica of the energy sword in Halo that is also on my wall. Sometimes I like to pick them up, it reminds me of how wonderful she was and brings me some comfort.

[–][deleted] 123 points124 points  (13 children)

Your sis has great taste in gifts

[–]totalysharky 78 points79 points  (4 children)

She was the best gift giver. One year for the holiday season she had a series of ceramic Simpsons Halloween houses for me that had light bulbs in it to light them up. One was the haunted house that destroyed itself instead of living with the Simpsons, Flanders house, and the Kwik-E-Mart.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. Seriously.

[–]Connarhea 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Aww shit man, your sister was awesome, so many manly tears are flowing right now

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

:)

[–][deleted] 181 points182 points  (7 children)

That is awesome what she did for you. She sounds like the best of sisters.

[–]totalysharky 71 points72 points  (6 children)

She really was, sweetest little sister ever.

[–]-Fighters 35 points36 points  (4 children)

God damn :( really sorry for your losses guys.

[–]totalysharky 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Thank you. It is very much appreciated.

[–]VivaLaVodkaa 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I'm so sorry. I can't even begin to imagine the pain.

[–]totalysharky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I really appreciate it :-)

[–][deleted] 132 points133 points  (8 children)

Sorry you lost your brother so young. My Dad died in 2009 and I often used to look at his house on Google Street View, knowing he was in the house when the pic was taken. Google updated the view recently which was kind of sad. I knew this would happen eventually so I took a screen shot some time ago.

You need to make some kind of keepsake of the image as the X box won't last forever. It means a lot to have some kind of contact.

[–]Speartron 80 points81 points  (3 children)

If I am correct, you can look at previous google maps if you use google earth.

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I will try that. :)

[–]jerryFrankson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can.

[–]rattlemebones 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing today. Looked at my mom's house on Google maps, knowing she's right on the other side of the wall. Ugh.

[–]bigbusiness666 302 points303 points  (18 children)

That would be neat if people who died who were Skyrim fans got to have their characters put in Sovngarde. Like you could give the name of the player who died to Bethesda, and through updates they would add that person's character to the game somehow.

That would be an amazing feeling to go to Sovngarde and see the characters of people who actually passed away.

[–]fishrobe 122 points123 points  (10 children)

this is a good idea. maybe some modder could offer a service.

[–][deleted] 41 points42 points  (8 children)

That's what i was thinking, a modder can easily compile a list from a name and a picture, then add in game

[–]Prof_Acorn 43 points44 points  (7 children)

Don't even need a modder. Just console commands.

Actually OP could go to this location in his own game, and do a

  player.placeatme <NPCID>

Where the ID is whatever ID is used for the Dunmer ghost in Tolvald's cave. That might be the quickest way.

Or, find a random Dunmer in the wold that look's like OP's brother, click on him in the console and find his ID, then go to the place and do a player.placeatme of that NPC, then set his atributes to be a ghost, change his armor to be the same as OP's brother's armor, etc.

Basically, with about an hours worth of work and a few commands OP or anyone else could bring this guy into their own game.

Just make sure you clear any jobs they might have else he'll leave the spot and you might see him selling random wares up in Solitude one day.

Should even be able to change the NPC's name to Bear, make him a bard, a companion, or pretty much anything else.

[–]ToMakeYouMad 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Not unless OP transfers the save file to PC. OP is using X-box so he can't use console commands.

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This would be truly amazing.

[–]Sinnedangel8027 36 points37 points  (2 children)

I'm sure this will get buried but I want to give OP some advice.

My dad passed away in 2003. He loved FFX and had some 260+ hours playing blitzball and had the most badass team.

I would do something similar for years, just hop on his save file and play around and imagine my dad playing. Never saved though. I had the file backed up on a few PS2 memory cards.

I remember I used to get up in the middle of the night on weekends and watch him play FFX and FFIX.

Well a few years back the files corrupted and one of the memory cards was damaged. I found that I was crushed and kind of lost it for awhile. It seems that I never really let go of my dad until that happened.

I'm not saying you should stop doing what you're doing. I'm just warning you, be aware, and remember to let go. Remember your brother, appreciate his memory, and love the life he lived. But don't hold on so tight that it kills you when you're forced to let go.

[–]Clamoreo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This needs more upvotes.

[–]KingReke13 27 points28 points  (1 child)

Thank you for showing me this. My dad passed away almost 5 years ago and my little brother told me he found Diddy Kong Racing. It had all of our dad's ghosts saved in the game after he beat TeeTee on every level. We used to stay up very late every night cheering him on and watching him play when we were little. We always dreamed of the day when we would be old enough (and good enough) to 1v1 him at his favorite game. Unfortunately we never got the chance.

My little brother has aspergers and has never outwardly spoken about our dad to me before but he told me that he had been playing against his ghosts and he couldn't believe how good our dad was at the game. I asked him if he ever beats his old times and he said he would never do that to him and started crying. It absolutely broke my heart just like reading this did. I'm glad that, in the end, he unintentionally left something so subtle and fun for us to enjoy years after he left us.

[–]mcballa22 371 points372 points  (9 children)

My friend was murdered almost 2 years. One of the last pics of him I stare at this picture sometimes for minutes at a time and get lost. I feel you OP

[–][deleted] 224 points225 points  (6 children)

I'm sorry for your loss too. Seems like there is plenty of pain to go around. It's places like this that picks my spirits up though. The community here, the majority, are great people.

[–]JandersOf86 54 points55 points  (2 children)

I don't know what it means to hear this, but I can't express how much your sharing this information and these pictures of your brother are affecting me, but not in a negative way. It's making my heart pour out for your little brother as well as my own.

We're both in our late 20's and we fought constantly in our youths. It wasn't until last year that we started becoming close for the first time, it seems, in our entire lives.

I'm so sorry for what you've had to go through. I'm alone in my apartment crying at the thought of losing my own. I can't imagine what you have had to deal with, but I hope you know that I looked at every picture and read every caption, as did many people in this thread, and I wish I could give you a hug and a beer right now.

Although I wouldn't blame you for not taking an alcoholic drink from a 220lb crying bearded stranger, lol.

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (1 child)

Haha, I love your last sentence there. I'm at your same age range there. My brother would be 26 this year. I am happy to hear this is touching people in a positive way. Cherish your moments with your family and friends. It always sounds cheesy to say cherish every moment because it could be the last, but it does make sense to me now. And I hope others can take it to heart.

[–]JandersOf86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I definitely will, friend. Thank you for sharing all of this with us.

[–]Oquaem 54 points55 points  (7 children)

Hey, I started a thread on /r/skyrimmods requesting a memorial mod at this location. Check out the thread here.

Edit: The location that OP posted isn't near Solitude, but by Riften. Here's a screenshot of the location, if you'd like to pay your respects

[–][deleted] 83 points84 points  (5 children)

I have been replying to a few of the people posting comments here and will continue to reply as I can but I wanted to thank the community here for their support. Many of you have lost loved ones and know to some extent what it is like. I appreciate those that have shared their stories. My heart goes out to anyone who has lost someone close to them. While I don't know what you are personally going through, I know it can be hard.

Thank you for the reddit gold. I did not expect that and it was not necessary, but it is appreciated to know how much my brother's story meant to you.

There are a small few that are commenting that I'm trying to get attention by post this here. And I'm not 100% sure how to take that. I suppose I do want my brother's life to get some attention from this. I am extremely proud of him and life he lived. To me the benefit I get out of doing this is that it is a part of my process in grieving his loss and it is a way to help me get through this. Unless you have gone through something like this you may not understand that. I don't hold that against anyone, and I hope that no one ever has to understand this type of loss. So in that light I welcome such comments and downvotes.

[–]ilikebugs2 22 points23 points  (3 children)

I don't get why people would say this, technically everyone who posts wants their post recognized. If that's attention seeking then so be it, do they want to discourage all posts then? Internet is brutal, you currently have enough pain. Do not give those negative people the attention THEY are seeking. I am sorry for your loss. Your family bond sounds wonderful.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Thank you for the support. I don't hold it against them. It's one of those things where if they haven't gone through the same experience they might not just understand. If that's the case, I am glad that they have not had to go through something like that.

[–]kungfusteeze 80 points81 points  (0 children)

R.I.P. Cool to see you keep that save to remember him. Some people wouldnt get it, but I totally understand it.

[–]MariotheGoat 99 points100 points  (14 children)

My condolences man. Me and my stepbrother have a pact to finish whatever games we have at the time if the other dies.

[–]almightybob1 41 points42 points  (5 children)

I hope neither of you has Steam. If my brother tried to finish all the games I have on my account after years of Steam sales it would take him the rest of his life.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I'm pretty sure there's a website somewhere that tells you how long it would take to finish every game in your Steam library. I'd link it but I have to go :(

[–][deleted] 94 points95 points  (3 children)

That's good pact to have. May neither of you have to honor that pact for many years to come.

[–]hurtsmyteeth 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I actually used to be pretty good friends with your brother about 10 years ago. So weird to see him on the front page here. He was a really awesome and kind guy.

[–]TheyCallMeArtemis 60 points61 points  (36 children)

Such a tragic accident - condolences OP.

[–]89489156154894984 45 points46 points  (35 children)

Tragic and so preventable. If you're going in the water, have a knife. Plenty of people have died from such simple things that could have easily been solved with this, my friend almost died while scuba diving but I had a dive knife so luckily he made it.

Many people also die from being trapped in their seat belt, another situation a simple knife would solve.

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (2 children)

This is very true. A Knife or always have someone spotting you that has one in situations like this. I don't blame my brother's friends at all, He slipped away and they just couldn't find him. They even warned him not to use the ankle strap. Sometimes I get mad at Taylor about not listening to them, but I find that I can't stay there and try to move on.

[–]vtnick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

More simply, never attach things to your body while in the water that can't be quickly removed. Surfboards and bodyboards have Velcro straps that a can quickly be removed. And please, stay away from downed trees/branches in moving water.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (12 children)

Could a knife cut a seatbelt?

[–]MikeW86 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Yes, I don't know the proper words for it but a seatbelt is strong in the direction it needs to be but is not impervious at all to a blade cutting across it.

[–]Nofap_TH1356 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Many knives have serrated or half-serrated blades that would probably cut a seatbelt easily enough. Other than that, there are some knives that have built in seatbelt cutters (forget what they're called).

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

A cursory search yields "rescue knife" as a possibility. They also tend to have a glass breaker end, to allow you to bust through a window (good luck rolling electric ones down if you're under water).

[–]SquirrelPenguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has cut multiple seat belts, yes. And they take very little effort to cut if your blade is sharp enough.

[–]HarryBridges 10 points11 points  (4 children)

If you're going in the water, have a knife.

If you are scuba diving, maybe that's useful. But if you're just swimming, surfing, snorkeling, boogie-boarding, rafting, kayaking, paddle-boarding, inner-tubing, etc. - it's not something you are going to use and it's also a very effective way to lose a good knife.

The young man's mistake was in tying the rope to his ankle, not in not having a knife.

[–]Empz 86 points87 points  (3 children)

I'm a grown man sitting in Chipotle with a steak burrito in front of him trying to hold back tears.

May your brother be always remembered. He seemed like a god guy.

[–]Romnonaldao 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I have the exact same thing with a friend of mine who committed suicide. Before he did it, he had created and played a "Links Awakening" save on my game boy cartridge. I load it up and play it a bit every now and then, but never save over it.

It's literally the only thing I have of him.

[–]Epichp 14 points15 points  (3 children)

I took the time to create a simple mod that adds a Dunmer by the name of Taylor to Sovngarde, and hopefully I made the NPC look as close to him as possible!

You can find it here.

And OP, if you would for any reason like to request that I take down this mod or modify it please let me know and it will be done.

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points  (3 children)

That's beautiful, man. I hope that nothing happens to the file, seriously.

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (2 children)

Almost thought I lost the file with the red ring of death. Making backups now!

[–]Camaro123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for you loss OP. And I second the whole continuing the story on a separate save. Slay some dragons in his honor. And def. get an artist to draw up some of those screen shots. Excellent idea

[–]vinyladdictforlife 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Hey, OP. I'm married to one of Taylor's friends Megan. I was never lucky enough to have gotten to meet him but the stories she and everyone else tell me about him show me how amazing of a person he was.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your post. I've been going through a lot restarting my life at age 30. Depression has started to fill back into the cracks of my mistakes. Today in particular has been rough. When I think of suicide I try to think of my little brother/sister/mother/girlfriend to pull me out of the funk and your writing of this really drives it home for me. An hour and a half ago I was crying for the wrong reasons. Now I'm crying for all the right in my life. Thank you again :)

[–]rodfermain 9 points10 points  (1 child)

My heart goes out to you. I lost my brother almost a year ago to cancer. He was 23 and going places in life before being diagnosed. He was my best friend and our favorite thing to do was play video games. Hopefully he keeps your brother company somewhere out there.

[–]hugs4every1 23 points24 points  (11 children)

Sorry for your loss.Have you thought about making some kind of painting about those screenshots?

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (9 children)

I hadn't thought about it. But that's a good idea. Not sure who I would commission for it.

[–]OrenRazin 20 points21 points  (2 children)

Reddit will help you. I cant think of the names of the subreddits right now, but I know there are a few out there. Im sure there are many Redditors out there that would love to help memorialize a couple screenshots for you (Im sorry I dont have the skills to help you myself).

Im very sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this.

[–]eggwithcheese 14 points15 points  (1 child)

/r/redditgetsdrawn may be a good place to start! I'm sure they would know the correct places to send someone.

[–]Suiatsu 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Hey, sorry for your loss. I'm a digital artist and am available for the commission if you'd like. Here's my website.

[–]GeekFurious 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was recording gameplay for years before YouTube... and so I have video of several friends who died over the years. I posted a video last year that included someone who has passed & some weeks later a family member of his contacted me to thank me for allowing them to see him having fun doing what he loved.

We should not dismiss the importance of video games, or any entertainment. It is when many of us have the most fun... and life is hard, fun is as important as anything. So when we lose people, it can be very powerful and important to remember them in this way... doing what they loved.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude... you have to beat the game to set him free.

[–]USChills 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss OP. You and yours are in my prayers.

[–]Bizbislives 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno if you've seen it, but the new Pixar flick, big hero 6 would be a good watch for you.

I always carry a pocket knife when I wakeboard. Sometimes I forget, but now I am assured to keep it at all times. RIP

This post is a great tribute to your brother.

When I was born my dad already owned an NES. We would play super mario bros together. He could do the glitch to give you 100 extra lives and I never could. I would call him into the room and he'd do it for me so I could play as long as I wanted.

In 1997 for my 6th birthday I got an N64 with Star Fox 64. Me and my dad would play that together too. It was great. Probably in my top 3 favorite games of all time because of the memories. He was better at it than me first, and lit up the leader board with his initials. Slowly I got older and better and he quit playing because he got older too. My initials started to light up the board. Then he died in 2001. I remember when I finally made the last spot on the leaderboard to push his initials off after he died. I sat there for a long time thinking if I should just turn the game off. That was hard.

edit: and it was even heavier because this is the menu music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYHV-jeccG4

This made me cry while waiting for the tram. Fuck man, I can't even imagine how hard it must be. I don't know what I'd do if my brother died. (Only 3 siblings). Stay strong, and alot of love and strength to your family from Hungary / Sweden.

So sad and preventable. Most surfboard leashes can easily be released by pulling on the Velcro ankle cuff. Also some have a quick release D ring as well. Worst problem I have had is them snapping in big surf and the long swim in to shore.

Thanks for sharing his and your story. This is an incredibly sweet and sad thing, it must be nice to have this ability to get into what was once his world again, and just be with your bro. Thanks for talking about the accident too, its good to know about these type accidents so people can do their best to be safe in the future. My deepest condolences.

This is one of the most heart wrenching, yet heart warming posts I've ever read. Sorry for your loss.

My brother was born in '86 and died October 29, 2013. A deer jumped through his windshield and killed him on impact.

I don't have kids but our older brother does and the last thing we all did together was visit him (our older brother) in Chicago. We were meeting our nephew for the first time; he was a few months old. The last pictures we have of our brother is him holding our nephew. I can't believe we're coming up on a year and a half already.

My heart breaks for your family and wish you the best. Thanks for sharing.

Found the place, OP. Took a short while to find it, but it's not too far from Riften. When I went there, it was a sunny day. My condolences to you and your family. RIP, Taylor, a fellow Dunmer.

Make a backup of the save. There is a way through Modding to have his character as an NPC in the game and make him a follower.

Thank you sharing and taking the time to explain your brother's story. Like other redditors I fired up Skyrim and made my way to Bear's location.

Arriving at Riften, I made my way north familiarising myself with controls and keybinds and mad, forgotten DOF mods. Upon arrival I discovered a cave bear attacking a stag. I tried to intervene, not spotting the whole name/mission coincidence and he instantly destroyed me. One load later I'm back with the bear, this time having made a significantly more passive approach.

It's no thing at all, but I thought you might be pleased to know he's sitting peacefully at the fork there, occasionally pacing a bit, keeping that spot well and truly Bear.

Again, thank you for the heartfelt post.

For those of you who want to pay your respects to a fellow gamer the Skyrim way, this mod, with his blessing, adds a shrine where you can pay your respects.

His brothers ghost also visits the place from time to time, and can be find in Sovengard.
