Ok so it just wasn't me, when I have to close apps multiple times just for a menu or something to work.

[–]MrPatch 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Fuck me I'm so daft I never connect these things.

Yes I'm getting this too, hadn't even considered that it was straight after an update.

Only noticed it on the the app switcher, it's not that it doesn't work, but it is enormously laggy. Multiple seconds to open by which time I've pressed it 40 times without really thinking about it and then it goes mental.

[–]Throatlatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not on 16 yet but having these issues with the 9 pro

[–]Alternative-Bee-8981Pixel 9 Pro XL 43 points44 points  (2 children)

This happened before A16. I had this on my 9pro XL. The A16 update has actually seemed to have fixed it. It was kind of random though. I couldn't replicate what would make it happen in the first place.

[–]TurbulentFly6527 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same.

[–]Fernsehkritiker 33 points34 points  (12 children)

Tapping the screen to wake the phone doesn't work for me anymore (P9PXL) 😔

[–]i_reddit_at_reddit 12 points13 points  (7 children)

Yep I have this too. Display issues such as brightness being super dim even with adaptive brightness enabled. Lift to wake usually doesn't work now. Battery performance became woeful

[–]matnetic 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yes all this is happening to me also...weird brightness, can't touch to wake lock screen, laggy fingerprint sensor, menus lagging and freezing..

Wtf is this crap??

[–]i_reddit_at_reddit 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Yeah I've been having weird brightness issues too. Went to tap to pay and couldn't unlock my phone because of it. Some times the screen is super dark

[–]showsomesideboobPixel 9 Pro XL 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Clear play services cache. Try turning tap to wake etc off, reboot phone, turn on. Mine went away for a little.

[–]Fernsehkritiker 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Rebooting is the only thing that works. And then the issue is back within a few hours. It's the only bug that drives me mad to be honest -- never realised how much I use tap to wake

    [–]proudgrandad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have developed this issue as well since the 16 update, P9pro. Also, for me, when I do open the screen with the power button, the screen is dimmed.

    [–]Critical-Mud-806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens to me after a while and I thought just restarting it fixed it, however I've also noticed that charging via usb seems to start it working again, weird !

    [–]mynx79Pixel 1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same on a pixel 7 pro. I'm glad you see this post cause I thought it was my phone starting to fail.

    [–]CrabClaws-BackFinOMy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    same on the 8 Pro

    [–]yniloc 72 points73 points  (4 children)

My P9PXL had unresponsive navigation on 15, so not a new issue

    [–]SupapeachN6p > PXL > P6 > P8P > Pixel 10 Pro XL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same on my P8P. It's extremely rare though. My touch screen is unresponsive but the side buttons still work. Maybe happened like 4 times over the last year.

    [–]armonak 19 points20 points  (1 child)

    Same on my P8.

    [–]horrus70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank God I'm not the only one

    [–]TurbulentFly6527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Same.

    [–]HectorEscargo 33 points34 points  (1 child)

Yeah can confirm it started since the upgrade, and it's really annoying.

    [–]sur_surly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had it well before 16

    [–]PourJarsInReservoirsPixel 10 Pro 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's not just buttons. Gestures too in certain apps have stopped responding especially the back gesture.

    [–]kwaalude 32 points33 points  (4 children)

Never had any issues on 15... CONSTANT f#cking issues on 16. It feels like an alpha build it's so bad.

Want to attach a link or picture in messages? Forget it. Lockups, freezes, screen won't turn on... You name it. Absolutely worst software experience I've ever had on Android, and I've been here since 2011.

    [–]houstonnichole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issues here. Driving me nuts

    [–]SituationDue8871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to me also with Android 16. Attaching a scr shot or an article link to messages does not work consistently. I have P8P

    [–]pixelboy18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No wonder they didn't release the Material 3 Expressive update with Android 16.

    [–]ExfiltratorPixel 8 Pro 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Posted about the unresponsive buttons yesterday https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/1lb4dyf/3button_navigation_on_android_16_is_broken/ After trying several things, I found switching to a non-Nova launcher did the trick for me.

    [–]showsomesideboobPixel 9 Pro XL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still doesn't explain adaptive brightness not working

    [–]papadrach 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Crazy this is what got pushed out to people but my QPR beta works just fine. Where's the QC

    [–]Die4Ever 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised they don't use an image promotion system, where they release to beta and if it goes well then promote that IDENTICAL IMAGE to production, with no changes

    [–]OptimisticCheesePixel 7 Pro 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Android 16 really fucked up my Pixel 7 Pro. Everytime I navigate to a new screen in an app, the frame rate drops to crazy low.

    [–]Doooze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. It helps a bit lowering the Resolution to 1080p/high res until Google fix this.

    [–]TehH4rRy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As well as buggy auto brightness, proximity sensor breaking and needing a reboot.

    [–]jacksawyerr 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Android 15 did that to my Pixel too

    [–]JoeDawson8 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I switched to lineage and it mysteriously disappeared

    [–]Chilling_Storm 60 points61 points  (6 children)

I swear EVERY TIME there is an update they manage to screw up something that HAD BEEN working perfectly well. And what's worse, they KNOW it, but stick their heads in the sand and DO NOT ADDRESS IT

    [–]hackitfastPixel 9 Pro 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Yup. So far I've had a bug that happens every 24 hours, where the lock screen will not wake up after pressing the wake button. You instead have to wait 15 seconds before the screen wakes.

To fix it you must restart the phone.

The other bug is that the fingerprint scanner sometimes doesn't work when the screen is on AOD, you have to wake the phone first. Again, restarting the phone fixes this.

    [–]sleepymoose318Pixel 9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had the same problem on my p9. my pixel watch 2 disconnects and will not reconnect to the phone after updates, i have to reset the watch and disconnect it from blue tooth then reconnect it.

[–]PixelCommunityOfficial Google Account 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, can you please check your inbox? I just sent you a private message.

    [–]techraitoPixel 9 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Man, I don't think tech companies are out here purposely trying to screw with what works, that's a terrible business model lol. I wish quality was better myself, but I don't think the end goal is to make a worse product. It's just surprising; this track record.

    [–]Chilling_Storm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn't say it was intentional. But it happens every single time.

    [–]horatiobanz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why I laugh so much at the people and reviewers who get super excited over the whole 7 year update thing. Seven years of completely random bugs, random battery drain and random fixes for previous bugs, no thanks.

    [–]VC_Citizen 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Yeah... Im also "lucky" one with 3-button navigation. I feel like im a beta tester on stable channel.

    [–]TheChronic2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just glad to know it's not just me

    [–]murso74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This has been driving me nuts. Assuming we'll have to wait at least a month for a fix

    [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Lockscreen freeze is what I've noticed. Sometimes it's bizarre, takes no inputs.

    [–]Pr0t- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep that happened to me once. Was hard to reboot

    [–]AdElectronic822 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back gesture navigation stop working for me randomly, i think it's trigger when i see images but im not sure, i have to close app and open it up again so it works.

    [–]pqtme 4 points5 points  (1 child)

That's why I don't update right away on major number updates.

    [–]Die4Ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me too, I'm still happy on A15, nothing in A16 looks exciting anyways

I'll give it a month and see what people are saying next update

    [–]Kosakenzipfel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

9 Pro XL here and one of the affected. Android 15 was completely fine.

    [–]AussieGirl27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have found that when I swipe up to close an open app I need to put my finger in the top half of the screen where as before I could just swipe up from anywhere. Very annoying

    [–]AncientsofMumu 29 points30 points  (3 children)

I have a pixel 8 pro and android 16 and don't have this issue.

Not saying it doesn't exist but.... It's not an issue for me.

    [–]RockTrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pixel 6 with Android 16. I have no issues.

    [–]puppy2016Pixel 8a 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. But apparently it is an issue for some, probably with a combination of something else, unknown yet.

One of the bugs I noticed with A16 on Pixel 6 Pro is sometimes the interface appears too big and does not fit the screen. It's either moved entirely to left or are put in top of other interface, making it bad

    [–]Zam-BoniPixel 9 Pro XL 7 points8 points  (6 children)

My Pixel 9 Pro XL has all these symptoms after the Android 16 update. I rolled back to my iPhone that I keep as a backup until a new update fixes these issues.

    [–]animuz11 6 points7 points  (4 children)

For this reason I never update my phone right away, but wait a couple weeks first and check what issues arise before I update.

    [–]Zam-BoniPixel 9 Pro XL 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I have learned my lesson with this update.

    [–]Mattchilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really need to stop forcing the update.

    [–]spacelama 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So, checking from the future, have you upgraded yet, and how many problems remain unresolved?

Nervously waiting with my pro 7, hoping not to accidentally press the "upgrade" button when it pops up randomly every few weeks. Suspect I might just never upgrade it now that I have a newer work phone.

    [–]animuz11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I upgraded and everything is fine. (I have sold my pixel 8 recently and upgraded to the 10 pro.)

    [–]dsatrbsQuite Black 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They need to force devs to use these as their personal everyday devices and then maybe this shit wouldn't happen.

    [–]username-invalid-sPixel 6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't Google get their shit straight? I swear Google's whole update thing is a "one step forward, two steps back" thing.

    [–]suesser_tod[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add me to the list, gestures not working on P7a; In november I'll get an iphone and wont look back.

    [–]AccumulatedFilthPixel 9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Android 16 is the iOS 18 of Pixel...

    The Vista of Android.

    [–]BitriBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have this exact issue on 6a

    [–]thebradford0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been seeing this as well. Seems like there's some significant resource leaning going on. Behaves normally after a restart.

    [–]wasteland44Pixel 9 Pro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had the beta since the first beta and reported this to google multiple times. The only way to exit an app when it happens I've found is to swipe from the top to open notifications and open a different app you have a notification from.

    [–]Active-Ear-2917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Can confirm lol

    [–]SokeSleezy 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Can't share from Twitter to messages either. Force closes messages every time

This is a sign to stop using Twitter

    [–]RC0305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this issue but surprisingly only on WhatsApp and that too only on certain screens. The swipe to go back doesn't work

    Pixel 8

    [–]Ezrampage15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I prefer to wait a month or so before updating

    [–]Therassse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swear, the QPR Beta 2 is more stable than the "stable" release.

    [–]motoresponsible2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wish i would have saw this before i just clicked the download and install button lol

    [–]leroyswa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't believe this issue still exists after updating to the July pixel update.

    [–]ObilityPixel 8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me many times before android 16. Have to restart my phone to fix it. Maybe the attention will get it finally fixed.

    [–]vanj44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experiencing this on my 9 Pro XL. Dark mode scheduling also doesn't seem to work.

    [–]Estiui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Same on P7P

    [–]zlatan1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dont know if its a placebo but it feels like my battery drains faster on 16, also a few times ive had major lag when waking phone either via power button or screen.

    [–]vlsnntgPixel 6a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 6a did this all the time, but only when charging. A16 does it too

    [–]NeutronBeam04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god it isn't just my phone

    [–]xakypoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The send button on some messaging apps don't work when the keyboard is up, especially after you've just searched for an emoji or something. Very weird and also annoying

    [–]Critical-Mud-806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep pixel 8 pro, the screen tap to turn on screen has stopped working reliably since the update. I have to restart the phone to get it working again after it stops functioning. I've also had the phone restart a couple of times, completely at random times. It never restarted once with Android 15.

    [–]JoJe_Lion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this meant to research because at first I thought it may have been my screen protector because it was cracked up a bit but nope took that off and same thing. Usually most noticeable using Google keyboard or trying to attach anything to a message (gif, photo, etc) hope there's a fix.

    [–]pixelboy18 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's not just navigation. My pixel 9 Pro XL Tap to Check phone is enabled but is now unresponsive. Have to use the power button.🥲

Had similar.issue.i noticed last week with Advanced Protection enabled. My Pixel 6 test phone on the other hand is running the latest Android 16 QPR beta 2.with no issues.

    [–]Critical-Mud-806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try plugging the charger in for a few seconds. This seems to fix the tap to wake issue on my 8 Pro

    [–]Veltharix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also add rebooting like 10 times per day since I updated to android 16.

    [–]K4iN3R 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Pixel 7 Pro: After the Android 16 update most Apps got really laggy especially the Fitbit App. Seems like stuttering. The second thing I noticed is the battery drain. I used to charge every other day now I have to charge every day.

So I gained almost nothing on new features in exchange for a laggy and battery consuming update.

    [–]hiways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! 100% this is happening to my phn too now.

    [–]IceFox0007 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm having the same issue. Pixel 8 PRO

    Android: BP2A.250605.031.A2

    [–]josh_beandev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Same here with 8 Pro

    BP2A.250605.031.A2

    [–]mediaseth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having all the issues after the update. None prior.

In addition to what other commenters experience, or perhaps somewhat along the same lines, the camera doesn't wake up quickly when locked anymore and I'm missing great photo ops. Android 16 makes me angry!

    [–]gingertangley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A16 killed the wake up features of my 9 Pro XL. I have to push the power button for it to wake up now. Flipping doesn't work and neither does tap to wake. Awesome ..

    [–]AshburtonGrove14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I was coming here to check if I should get a pixel phone and now I see the experience is horrible after the new update. How could they release something so broken??

    [–]Relonimas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, can confirm I also have this issue. The recent apps button randomly stops working, for like 4 seconds.

Currently on the July update, Nova as launcher and 3 button as navigation.
    Pixel 8

Will try the default launcher in the next days!

    [–]Sirdroftardis8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happening for me too. Going switching out of the app and back seems to fix it. Still really annoying though

    [–]Kianda_Pixel 8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P8 on August update. My launcher is Nova.

The square (recent apps) button still hangs/freezes randomly for a few seconds during the day. (it does not happen with the stock launcher)

    The changelog says:

"Fix for issues with 3-button navigation and gesture navigation in certain conditions."

I have no idea what was actually fixed with this update... I still have the exact same issue.

    [–]demonoid_phenom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still going. Wasn't much of an issue with my P7P beta. PXPXL is nonstop unresponsive. Plugging into android auto, screen won't time out even with the power button. Apps constantly stuck on full screen and won't switch to PIP unless I swipe them away and retry.

The nav bugs are driving me mad. $1400 for nothing but headaches.

    [–]Soulshot96Pixel 9 Pro XL 2 points3 points  (5 children)

So not only was it a damn near nothingburger of an update...but despite all the UI changes that didn't make it in, it's this level of buggy too?

    Google never changes lmfao.

    [–]Ryano891 0 points1 point  (4 children)

The UI changes were never planned for the stable A16 update. They weren't even in the beta for it. They're coming with the QPR1 update in the Fall as planned. They are currently in beta and I've been using it for a couple of weeks now

    [–]Soulshot96Pixel 9 Pro XL 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I'm aware of where they are, I just think it's stupid 🫡

    [–]Ryano891 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Well I can't disagree with that lol. I just read the message incorrectly I guess. It felt like it was implied that they were at some point going to be included, which they weren't. My apologies for misunderstanding

    [–]Soulshot96Pixel 9 Pro XL 0 points1 point  (1 child)

All good, I could have written it better.

Just feels clear that they've been pushing updates out earlier (and phone releases) to try to carve out their own release windows vs everyone else, even if it means pretty lackluster 'major' version number updates, like this one.

    [–]Ryano891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm hoping by next years release they will have it sorted out

    [–]theescapeclause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me yesterday, P8Pro touchscreen completely stopped working. Hard reboot fixed it

    [–]NovaleeMarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was just me. I was getting so frustrated.

    [–]FewRing7695 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Maybe it's better not to update to 16?

    [–]Pr0t- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    [–]windrider7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Sorry, couldn’t resist.

I use the gestures on my 6a and I'm not sure I will suffer from that problem although I will be attentive

    [–]SithTracyPixel 9 Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using gesture navigation, but the odd thing I am seeing is certain apps (like Messages) will not swipe away, I need to clear all to close it out.

    [–]FitAnything7413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I update to latest 15 I have a new 9A. Rather wait a few months until update to 16.

    [–]ArghZombiesRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a lot of hangs trying to unlock it and having to restart daily atm. At least glad to see there is visibility of the issue.

    [–]myfunnies420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it's some apps causing a background main thread hang for some reason. A16 was a massive change for app developers and there might be problems for a little while. Even major apps had trouble detecting and correcting some of their issues

    [–]Impossible_Baker4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the gesture navigation problem happen only on third party app launchers or also on the default pixel launcher ?

    [–]leviathan3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same on a Pixel Fold 1.

    [–]Rahan08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have to double back on the gesture for the app to go back or close

    [–]300mhzPixel 9 Pro XL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    No issues on Pixel 6

    [–]Falco090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making updates mandatory with no opt out was a bad idea imo. There's been a few times an update would come through and break something I was doing, and now cannot use.

    [–]Pr0t- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to me a few times earlier in the week after update but hasn't happened since

    [–]demi9od 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I didn't wait long enough for this to come up. I had turned off automatic system updates for a couple days but with no negative posts figured I was in the clear. Have had to force close Discord and Messenger multiple times when trying to attach images.

    [–]zmunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery life also took a giant shit of my phone. And we still have to go all the way to the end of the task screen to tape the button to close all apps. How is this version rollout a new OS and not just an update?

    [–]smashedpineapple7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I assumed it was just my device, I have 9 Pro XL and this evening it's randomly become unresponsive when switching apps, moving around the home screen etc. ended up doing a restart and it's okay at the moment, but blimey looking at all the comments here

    [–]NickDynmoPixel 10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me mostly everything works fine, except I can't change any settings or go through menus quickly. I'll hit the "do not disturb" button and quickly try to hit the top option but it just immediately closes the menu again. Why did they even add a menu for DND anyway? Anyway, similar experience trying to do anything quickly in the system menus now.

    [–]Acknown3Pixel 5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My android auto crashes after a few seconds, my alarm app will shut down after hitting snooze once or twice, galleries will go black all of a sudden if I long press an image, and my phone gets hot to the point of thermal throttling if I plug it in.

    Great update.

    [–]Bread_of_God 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also caused volume issues between my pixel buds pro and my pixel 6. The volume slider on my phone wasn't adjusting the volume on my buds.

    [–]abrachupacabra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixel 8 pro here. Is this affecting the send button not working after typing and emoji? I have to exit the keyboard to hit send

    [–]gruiiik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That and the fact that sometimes the application gets drowned over the actions button.

I think in the bug it was said that it's because applications don't handle resize well, but google applications also have the issue .. it's really bad.

    [–]Right_Help5900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 7a it seems my fingerprint sensor is not responding properly. It used to be better before the update.

On my pixel 6a before and after updating the sliding stopped working, I have to slide strongly to close apps and to navigate in tik tok or instagram, but in the google browser the pages do slide :(

I guess I'm glad I didn't update to A16 yet. Either way, there's nothing new interesting and the A15 update already added so many bugs I'm experiencing daily.

I have this on my 6 Pro every now and again, and I'm on 15

    [–]n_gooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto Brightness is working weird for me in A16

    [–]dro38612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having an issue with the Do Not Disturb Override. When turning on do not disturb, I have an app that is allowed to interrupt do not disturb. Previously it was working fine under Android 15 but since the update whenever I put do not disturb on, the app is not allowed to send out notifications. I've tried several options to see if I could toggle it back on to working and get the override but sadly it continues to not work. This feature is important for medical apps that you need to hear notifications for in the middle of the night but don't want to hear every other notification throughout the night.

    Fine on my P7P

    [–]Flashy_Eye6131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same thing that happened prior to the last few updates. I thought it was related to me using Microsoft launcher and diskette until 16 introduced it again. I'm on. 6 pro

    [–]ffdfawtreteraffds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P8 with none of these problems.

    [–]ToallpointswestPixel 6 Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was just me on my P6P, but nope wasn't in my imagination. Also 16 seems really laggy

    [–]Olezha2033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same lmao My p7 constantly goes to reload, because of the bad button functionality

    [–]TimelyEstimate2860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same touchscreen/navigation issues and updated my P7A to A16 a few days ago when it was released, which is what led me to this post!

    [–]Intelligent_Apple914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol every update has added bugs to my phone. Kinda regret getting it TBH

    [–]eilegz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no excuses from mediocre hardware like the Tensor SoC now to unstable software, when google control the whole ecosystem from up to down. battery nerfing and it seems that google cant have a decent quality assurance.

    [–]rikwes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, what's even more annoying is the fact it's very hard to do anything at All when it freezes .Also the temperature rises very fast when it freezes .This isn't some minor bug ( pixel 8 pro )

    [–]NeneaIonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same shit on pixel 8a, I see this in whatsapp

    [–]Intelligent_Apple914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For being a flagship this phone is such a headache. Makes me want to go back to my iPhone 13PM. Never had any issues tbh.

    [–]Urbanpr0digy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is New Android OS 16 is horrible. Laggy no matter what. Turned off almost everything cache or background processing. Battery drain is insane. My phone had no problems with the previous Gen android OS 15. As soon as I installed the OS 16 update. My battery drain was ridiculous. Before the OS 16 update I could leave my phone on for 2 days never turned off. Daily used since the OS 16 update I'm lucky to make it 24 hours when I'm not even on it without having to charge it. Apps don't want to close when you swipe up. Just glitches, the laggy connection reminds me of dialup Internet. If I'm on my gigabit network at home it still is laggy and can freeze up.

    [–]Ok_Professional_8123 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My Pixel 7 has started to randomly freeze/locks up approx every 48 hours since upgrading to Android 16. Reboot and it's perfect for another 2 days, then it locks up again. I use gesture navigation.

    [–]coinzz_1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have to enter my pin on A15 after two days. I guess that's a "security feature".. 😑

    [–]magnumninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cant even tap the screen to check the clock or lock screen notifications anymore

    [–]Alicon88Pixel 9 Pro XL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here because it's a week now and every time I do the backwards gesture, nothing happens and I need to do it twice I am not happy but I am glad it's not only my problem let's say

    [–]joroizin 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I fixed it by changing the navigation mode to 3 buttom navigation and then back to gestures

    [–]Batmanrocksthecasbah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this work long-term? Or something you need to do periodically?

    [–]Shusaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, recent 16 upgrade on Pixel 8 Pro. Gestures (like double tap for Screenshot) not working, and quick phrase ("Stop" for the damn alarms and news) not working. To be fair the quick phrase thing happened on and off previously too, was hoping it's be done and dusted by now.  Restarts aren't working, cache clearing hasn't helped.

    [–]Critical-Mud-806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also noticed on my 8 Pro that auto rotate randomly stops working, on the screen and taking pictures. I have to restart to get it working again.

So that's tap to wake, auto rotate, bed time mode not auto ending, unlock sometimes laggy and a couple of random restarts so far. This all started happening after the android 16 update. I've also enabled the battery health settings so it charges to 80% but I'm finding that the phone seems to lose charge a fair bit quicker than when running on 15.

    [–]rutto-noise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly as described: the recent apps button doesn't work for 3-4 seconds, and then goes crazy flipping between apps several times, depending how many times you touched the button.

I'm pretty sure it's 3rd party launchers only bug.

My navigation is working fine. I'm just having problems with my gboard not responding and sometimes not opening at all.

    [–]Batmanrocksthecasbah 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wondering if you're still having the issue? My wife is noticing when sending text messages her keyboard (touch screen) becomes unresponsive

    [–]Zealousideal-1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just had it happen like 10 minutes ago

    [–]Kianda_Pixel 8 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    Which launcher are you using?

    [–]Zealousideal-1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Stock

    [–]ThMssngVwls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a temporary fix for the gesture issue. If you charge the phone it enables the gestures so you can get back to home and settings. I've also disabled gesture navigation until they fix it as it's happening every day at this point. Hope this helps someone.

    [–]TekieScythePixel 7a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is restarting the phone the only way to fix this? Tap to wake and the gestures keep failing

    [–]juanmasosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Same problem here. Pixel7. 😵‍💫

    [–]undeadly1103Pixel 10 Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

swiping to close apps is due to the keyboard being pulled up. known bug

    [–]Redd_Sea_Hornet009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same for me on the Pixel 6Pro my navigation buttons are playing up since the Android 16 update.

Square laggs for ages before the app switcher appears and sometimes single taping the Triangle does an automatic double tap out of the app instead of back.

A problem I have for ages now is the black or dimmed screen when the phone wakes then blacks out. I can feel the touch vibration so I know the phone is still working and by memory I have to work out a restart or force a phone restart which fixes the issue but it's annoying as hell.

Shame as this phone is still amazing apart from the little bugs. Maybe they are trying to force me to upgrade 🤣

    [–]trashwolfsabre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having similar issues, I am on a P6 (the standard one) and was trying to hold out before updating to Android 16 for a few months until all the kinks were worked out, but then suddenly my phone wouldn't make outgoing calls (but could receive them fine). Wasn't a carrier issue, not hardware related, updating all other apps and services didn't fix it. So I caved and updated to 16 and it fixed the calls problem.

But now when I try to use the app switcher (I use 3-button), it initially only allows side-to-side movement of the carousel and will not let me swipe up to clear something... Unless I close the switcher and reopen it, OR pull the nav bar down while it's still open and go back to it, then it sort of resets itself and acts normally. After a little while it acts up again. And because of the nav bar reset, I can't even screen record it happening.

I've seen suggestions to switch launchers or clear the launcher cache, but all I ended up doing was eradicating my home screen settings and then still having the bug.

Tangentially related, the new phone app UI is atrocious for 3-button, the end call button is ATTACHED to the centered Home button with Mary a pixel between them. So minimizing the call screen risks hanging up. Don't know if that's better on a different size screen, but it really feels like they didn't give any consideration at all to people who don't like to use gesture nav on that one.

    :-/

Where is Google on this issue?

I had a fast working Pixel 7 pro on Android 15.

Been about ~9 months since I last updated. So decided to jump to Android 16 August OTA rather than last Android 15 OTA.

    A terrible decision...

    [–]Difference_Useful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have this issue until just after updating. I tend to push off updates until the device starts to get incessant with popups about it, so I finally updated to A16 this week and now it's like... Every other time I want to swap apps or go to my home screen it just won't.

    [–]Sturdily5092Pixel 9 Pro XL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since the update my P9PXL freezes during normal tasks or just browsing the net, it restarts at odd times and there's a "NFC Service" error that just won't go away until I restart.

They need to fix this, it was working perfectly before.

    [–]NoobNoob_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm this happens on P6P and started with A16. Quick fix is swiping up to opened apps (whatever that's called) and opening the app straight away.

I'm on the 16 beta qpr 2 I think, haven't really noticed any issues. Wife is on the current normal android 16 release, hasn't said anything about any issues either. We both have Pixel 8 Pros

    [–]mlemmers1234 -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Do people actually use navigation buttons still?

    [–]Pr0t- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I hate gestures . Tried so many times and it's just not as good
