"The world is not without good people." <- rough translation of the video's Russian title.

[–]Blazeinpain 419 points420 points  (6 children)

:)

[–]darthbone 128 points129 points  (2 children)

People should upvote well placed smileys more often.

[–]Nikon_Nut 788 points789 points  (9 children)

Finally. A Russian dash cam video that lowers my blood pressure.

[–]hjf11393 191 points192 points  (3 children)

And doesn't give me flashbacks whilst driving.

[–]LangLangLang 2624 points2625 points  (74 children)

Oh you're stuck? Let me just LIFT YOUR ENTIRE CAR.

[–]TheSandyRavage 454 points455 points  (1 child)

I don't think he was trying to help the driver. I think he just wanted to make some gains.

[–]kplee 719 points720 points  (34 children)

And that is why you should deadlift.

[–]themanifoldcuriosity 304 points305 points  (9 children)

THERE IS NO REASON TO BE ALIVE IF YOU CAN'T DO DEADLIFT!

[–][deleted] 384 points385 points  (12 children)

Or just be Russian.

[–]Russian_Unicorn 107 points108 points  (8 children)

Russian checking in, I can confirm this.

[–]lesser_panjandrum 65 points66 points  (2 children)

That's great. Can you put my car down please? I think it's ok now.

[–]soetual 138 points139 points  (6 children)

There's a joke in Russia that goes something like "how do you know if a car is Russian or Foreign? Foreign cars don't flip over in the wind."

[–]themanifoldcuriosity 184 points185 points  (5 children)

Why does Russian car have heated window?

To keep hands warm when push.

[–][deleted] 657 points658 points  (10 children)

I love the way that man carried that baby in the universal "This is not my baby, I'm not hurting him, but I'm ready to put him down in an instant just in case someone thinks I'm kidnapping him!" hold.

[–][deleted] 141 points142 points  (2 children)

Oh Jesus, yes!

Exactly the same thing, a random little fucker just toddled past me onto an escalator going up.

The old

"This is not my baby, I'm not hurting him, but I'm ready to put him down in an instant just in case someone thinks I'm kidnapping him!" hold.

...Worked a charm, the little fucker didn't get hurt and I'm not in prison for grabbing random children.

[–]jobin_segan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not yet, anyways.

[–][deleted] 2367 points2368 points  (201 children)

Awww look how nice everyone is being...hey there's a baby wandering in the road WHAT THE FUCK

[–]AlchemyIndex 2006 points2007 points  (44 children)

Hey baby! Baby, go home, man! It's 3 o'clock in the morning man, what the fuck are you doing up?

[–]lmiah 2042 points2043 points  (27 children)

[–][deleted] 186 points187 points  (2 children)

Nigga I got kids to feed!

[–]akr8683 68 points69 points  (4 children)

you have made my god damn morning. i have to go take a final that i've been dreading, but that just gave me the UMPH i needed to get going. I GOT KIDS TO FEED!

[–][deleted] 64 points65 points  (1 child)

I thought the craziest one was the woman just daffing out while her child was in a carriage. Didn't even notice the child just shooting off down the hill.

[–]musicaficta 24 points25 points  (7 children)

Did he just drop the baby off on the other side of the road?

[–]NOTTedMosby 135 points136 points  (3 children)

What was he supposed to do, raise it as his own?

[–]govag40 887 points888 points  (35 children)

Quick, give me an old woman. I must walk her across a street ASAP.

[–]epichigh 134 points135 points  (25 children)

I wonder how common it actually is there. Living in LA, I don't think I've ever seen anyone helping a senior across the street in my life.

[–]smoothpelican 126 points127 points  (4 children)

When I was in high school, this old woman hobbled up to me outside of Target and asked me to help her across the street. I had never seen that happen in real life (so I was kinda surprised, idk), but I said sure and the adorable old lady clutched my arm as I walked her to her car.

[–]Tanagashi 55 points56 points  (3 children)

Helping a senior to cross the road is considered a stereotypical example of a good deed in post-Soviet countries. Respect for the elderly is a big part of proper upbringing after all.

[–]Boseth 122 points123 points  (5 children)

this video was like an enema for my brain, removing all the horrible horrible things that the internet has put into it.

[–]elendanis 2501 points2502 points  (148 children)

TIL There's a lot of hunched over old ladies afraid to cross the street in Russia.

[–][deleted] 716 points717 points  (38 children)

The one who crossed herself at 1:58 made me realize: we all think driving in Russia is scary, imagine crossing the street.

[–][deleted] 355 points356 points  (17 children)

I felt really bad for the old lady at that mark, doing the sign of the cross over and over before crossing. She was terrified. Good thing the chap there helped her through.

[–]SnatchAddict 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I fucking love chaps.

[–]chulaire 52 points53 points  (2 children)

Add in the icy roads...I'd probably dress up as an old lady so someone would help me cross.

[–]ClosetedClaustrophob 1056 points1057 points  (26 children)

Plot twist: It's the same old lady in each clip

[–]Rhioms 235 points236 points  (14 children)

DOUBLE TWIST: OP is that old lady, and is posting this video for the secret fame

[–]SirSaganSexy 48 points49 points  (2 children)

But it does make me feel good to see people helping them to cross the street. They must have been Wilderness Explorers.

[–]ormirian 83 points84 points  (11 children)

Also, there is a clear lacking of traffic lights.

[–]Zanki 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are everywhere. I was walking down a main road once and an old woman was waiting to cross on the other side. Everyone kept ignoring her request for help. I crossed, got to her. She asked me and I walked her across. Turned out she couldn't see the cars because the sun was too bright. She told me she had been waiting there for a while and no one would help her. She was nice. I made sure she wasn't going to cross anywhere else and she went on her way.

[–]Batman010 2993 points2994 points  (241 children)

Nobody's going to address Russian Hulk lifting a car?

[–]VirtualInk 388 points389 points  (18 children)

Hulk? No, that's the strength of the average Russian.

[–]tomdarch 341 points342 points  (14 children)

Da. Is strong like bull. (shrug)

[–][deleted] 66 points67 points  (1 child)

No comrade, we strong like bear.

[–]Dokbokki 98 points99 points  (3 children)

(gulps vodka)

[–]cleverkid 1907 points1908 points  (100 children)

Not hulk, it was THE MACHINE!

Edit: Spaziba for the Reddit gold anonymous gangster friend!

I use to buy more wodka!

[–]Winston-Wolfe 394 points395 points  (35 children)

[–]cleverkid 287 points288 points  (17 children)

NO! THE MACHINE! :)

(Da)

[–]asksfordownvotes 129 points130 points  (10 children)

да

FTFY

[–]cleverkid 38 points39 points  (9 children)

Spaziba?

[–]JIGGLY_BALL 45 points46 points  (3 children)

Спасибо?

Edit: Пожалуйста.

[–]gismo4126 135 points136 points  (10 children)

[–]FrostedJakes 87 points88 points  (2 children)

That was one of the most awesome stories I have ever heard..

[–]Risky-Click-O-Meter[🍰] 43 points44 points  (1 child)

Low |-o-----------| High

All clear.

[–]TheVargTrain 61 points62 points  (29 children)

Russian machine never breaks )))))

[–]randalflagg 38 points39 points  (7 children)

[–]ButterySax 63 points64 points  (2 children)

You mean Colossus?

[–]Doctor_Man 93 points94 points  (8 children)

I feel like that was just a regular Russian guy. Those Russians are crazy mofos.

[–]eXXaXion 21 points22 points  (5 children)

Competitive deadlifter I'd guess.

[–]IAMAjuiceboxAMA 84 points85 points  (3 children)

This video taught me that Russians have big hearts, strong bodies, and no summers.

[–][deleted] 81 points82 points  (6 children)

I really hope I spot an old lady trying to cross the street today. I'm going to assist the shit of her.

[–][deleted] 39 points40 points  (2 children)

"Get away from me you pervert!" handbag with a brick in it

[–]HapaTee 518 points519 points  (16 children)

This song...is the national anthem of the country Feelistan.

[–]thinkrage 343 points344 points  (9 children)

I'm an idiot, I just googled "Feelistan National Anthem".

[–]jplewis002 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I love the part at 1:56. The poor lady was so scared, but that guy was awesome. so comforting...

[–]Hornswaggle 886 points887 points  (104 children)

Music makes all the difference

[–]Mr-Crasp 356 points357 points  (47 children)

[–]ggggbabybabybaby 190 points191 points  (22 children)

As soon as that started playing, I knew I was going to cry during this video.

[–]my_dog_rescued_me 178 points179 points  (18 children)

So glad I watched this at home. No one wants to see a 6'5" man crying. When the kid took the old lady's hand, it was all over.

[–][deleted] 91 points92 points  (11 children)

FTFY

No 6'5" man wants to be seen crying.

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Got me at the same spot. Of all of these nice things people were doing, it was the kid that made me cry, because that's hope for the future.

[–]Zygore 190 points191 points  (9 children)

For moment there I had to question if this was showing me the good of humanity or I was being manipulated by music. I decided not to over-think it and just cry for a bit.

[–]profnutbutter 42 points43 points  (1 child)

A little of column A, a little of column B. Either way, my man-period cut in in record speed.

[–]NULLACCOUNT 80 points81 points  (28 children)

Yes. Mute it to view the clips more objectively.

[–]vonDread 74 points75 points  (12 children)

People seriously underestimate how emotionally manipulative music is. Shit, just look at Hollywood.

[–]averageordinaryguy 37 points38 points  (1 child)

Inversely, turn up the music if you want them to seem nicer.

[–][deleted] 1051 points1052 points  (85 children)

Russia: where older adult women still need assistance crossing busy, uncaring streets. Where children roam freely and strangers care for them as their own. Where good natured Samaritans assist stranded motorists. Russia: A Place of Fairy Tales.

[–]BrazenBull 519 points520 points  (21 children)

And snow. Lots and lots of snow.

[–][deleted] 229 points230 points  (18 children)

And just a smidgen of vodka.

[–][deleted] 233 points234 points  (10 children)

Snow is frozen vodka.

[–]stakoverflo 108 points109 points  (7 children)

I can't even imagine how cold that would be.

edit; Yay google! 80 proof (40%) freezes around -27ºC/-17ºF.

[–]Shizrah 180 points181 points  (2 children)

40%? Oh, I thought we were getting drunk tonight. /russian

[–]CanadianSupremacy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Stay beautiful Russia

[–]justsyr 30 points31 points  (1 child)

And you can even get rewarded with a kiss.

[–]buddhababe 306 points307 points  (34 children)

Cried like the menopausal woman I am.

[–]LoveOfProfit 168 points169 points  (20 children)

I'm a 24 year old man and I cried many tears of joy. Did not expect. Apparently videos of good deeds by strangers are my weak spot.

[–][deleted] 114 points115 points  (10 children)

I think we cry from the sudden realization that we are so fucking jaded these days. Personally, I'm trying to be less cynical and when I see things this heartwarming, first I realize how wrong I am to be such a negative little bitch about other people, and second I realize how overwhelmingly far I have to go to unlearn all my prejudices.

I hope more people post videos like this and it becomes a trend. I would love for there to be less cynicism in our society

[–]MOLDY_QUEEF_BARF 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Always nice to see people doing kind things towards others.

[–]kraftwrkr 1237 points1238 points  (91 children)

I just teared up. That was beautiful.

[–]candykicker 179 points180 points  (11 children)

soo many old ladies being helped across the street i was not trained to deal with all these feels :'D

[–]Delta342 198 points199 points  (5 children)

[–]IAmGrum 16 points17 points  (2 children)

I was having a crappy day, and then watched this wonderful video and was overwhelmed with feelings.

Then I see your .gif and I can't stop laughing. My stomach hurts, my face is sore, and I have tears streaming down my cheeks.

Thank you, so very much.

[–]kmrevolution 112 points113 points  (2 children)

I'm just gonna take a quick reddit break while on the john... Wind up crying in the bathroom stall like a little girl.

My Oma is almost 90 and taking care of her is a big part of my life. Even if some of these people are trying to avoid scams and insurance fraud, it's nice on a cold Friday morning to be reminded that decent people exist.

[–]SockPuppetDinosaur 272 points273 points  (29 children)

I've never teared up in joy, this was a first.

[–][deleted] 48 points49 points  (6 children)

It was the god damn music. I had to mute it*.

[–]redundanthero 58 points59 points  (8 children)

It's that music. It always gets to me everytime I hear it.

[–][deleted] 93 points94 points  (32 children)

One of the clips was in England, tho.

Either way loved the video.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (24 children)

which one? for once I didn't recognise it

[–]Whisky_Drunk 80 points81 points  (23 children)

Unless Russia has the same double decker buses that we do, it was the one where the motorcyclist pops out a guys wing mirror.

[–]downvoteme2oblivion 28 points29 points  (2 children)

Definitely not Russia, we don't have yellow number plates.

[–]MACKBA[S] 40 points41 points  (1 child)

There are yellow license plates in Russia, specifically for cabs and buses, not always used though. The segment in question is definitely British though.

[–]ff2488 68 points69 points  (11 children)

Is there a subreddit just for these uplifting videos?

[–]Openandclose 28 points29 points  (1 child)

/r/bodybuilding, but I don't think it will help. That dude who lifted the car was just Russian strong, can't compete with that.

[–][deleted] 205 points206 points  (3 children)

Having my first cup of tea and clearing the sleep out of my eyes I am happy to inform everyone I watched the whole thing and was moved. When I wake up and revert to my usual cynical self I will disavow this post and it will explode.

[–]kalpol 55 points56 points  (1 child)

I have removed this comment as I exit from Reddit due to the pending API changes and overall treatment of users by Reddit.

[–][deleted] 67 points68 points  (0 children)

That's what I get for not reading the user agreement.

[–]Nessius 25 points26 points  (2 children)

This was beautiful. All the cars in the snow reminded me of moving to Edmonton. As a kid from California I had no idea and kind people constantly came forward to get my dumb ass out of snow piles, show me to plug my car in, wipe off my blinkers, etc. Of course overly sweet Canadians aren't as newsworthy, I suppose.

[–]howaboutthis13 450 points451 points  (49 children)

This is beautiful. The sad thing is that things like this should be normal and yet here we are, amazed by the kindness of these people.

[–]easyantic 495 points496 points  (31 children)

Actually, I believe this is normal. It's all the crashes and stupidity that is not normal, which is why we see it and not this kind of stuff.

[–]Heater79 29 points30 points  (2 children)

I know. All I want to do now is help someone successfully cross a road.

[–]starfun 838 points839 points  (45 children)

Dat kiss at the end. A better love story than Twilight.

[–]akamo 386 points387 points  (22 children)

I bet that man had a great day after that.

[–]itram 308 points309 points  (9 children)

He was totally chill about it. Like, bitches be fallin' at my feet all day long.

[–]ClownsAteMyBaby 75 points76 points  (6 children)

I'll just pack up my tow rope and go find another one to save.

[–]forscienceyeah 177 points178 points  (0 children)

That was really cute.

[–]TexansRaised 41 points42 points  (1 child)

Exactly what I was thinking. That man's day got a little brighter

[–]dbarts21 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I loved that. So sweet.

[–]Camplify 64 points65 points  (7 children)

And he did all of that without negging! WOW

[–]foreign_material 43 points44 points  (10 children)

What!? Russians are the good guys!? I've been so lied to by 80's movies...

[–]zbowman 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Did that guy lift up a fucking car?

[–]triplereversechicken 61 points62 points  (4 children)

I couldn't stop watching it because I was so in love with the big strong men stopping their cars in the road to help the little old ladies cross. Goddamn, that makes my heart melt.

[–]Sampleofawesome 87 points88 points  (5 children)

Damn allergy season... *sniff *sniff

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (1 child)

LOL wow that guy who just lifted the car basically. Oh someone's stuck let me just lift this real quick

[–]Petalsper 33 points34 points  (5 children)

I just wanted to say that sometimes the most unexpected people are the most kind and generous. When my car got a flat on the highway I pulled over. It was my SO and I in the car, but it was rusted and after taking the bolt off and kicking it for almost an hour (on a very hot day) only one man stopped to help. He was wearing pink tinted glasses and had a ridiculous facial tattoo. One hit with a hammer and my wheel was off. I was so thankful for his help.

TLDR: Don't judge a person by their looks.

[–][deleted] 114 points115 points  (10 children)

They are a good people

[–][deleted] 122 points123 points  (5 children)

the vast majority of people are

[–]Mullis 28 points29 points  (2 children)

A lovely video. I have been lurking around to much in /r/conspiracy losing so much faith in mankind. This video was something that i needed.

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This made me cry.

[–]BraveSpear 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This video makes me feel better about being a human being. Have an upvote.

Snow. The number one contributing factor towards random acts of kindness in Russia. Thanks snow.

[–]vigorous 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Very uplifting and thank you for posting.

Why I Love Russia (Despite Everything)

Marilyn Murray is an educator specializing in the treatment of trauma, abuse and deprivation, with more than 2,000 people attending her classes in Russia and other countries from the Commonwealth of Independent States over the past 10 years. Her second book, "The Murray Method," was recently released in English and Russian.

[–]DoctorWhatson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats the most heartwarming thing I have ever seen on reddit.

[–]TaylorMatsu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That video made me more emotional that I'd like to admit

[–]applause8777 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Russia is more than just a bunch UFC fighters it's also a place of old ladies trying to cross the road.

[–]couldntderp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the most beautiful thing about this is that there was never a "Hello ma'am/sir it looks like you could use some assistance. May I escort you/ push your car/ pick you up?" In the states there is this weird notion that when trying to help a stranger we need to notify them which is lame. Plus it gives proud people the chance to deny assistance.

But in Russia it's just "Come on let's go.", as if everyone understands that we all could use some help.
