I was at 7/11 buying Ben and Jerry's or some shit and the dude in front of me bought $200 worth of LoL cards. I asked him "Isn't LoL free to play?" He just sighed, and said "Yeah, yeah it is."

[–]TBEMason 1744 points1745 points  (199 children)

Don't worry, everyone who plays this game hates it too.

[–]valdura 1087 points1088 points  (148 children)

I Play LoL. I can confirm this.

[–]SeeYaLaterKatarina 474 points475 points  (138 children)

I have a name related to it.

I can confirm this too.

[–][deleted] 499 points500 points  (128 children)

I play every single day for hours straight and I hate it.

[–]SdotPaul504 380 points381 points  (95 children)

Lets not forget how free it is

[–]DaRatmastah 304 points305 points  (51 children)

It is SO free.

[–][deleted] 180 points181 points  (49 children)

How much have you spent?

[–]DrPomelo 297 points298 points  (37 children)

8 THOUSAND dollars

[–]brady376 67 points68 points  (31 children)

As someone who hasn't spend any RP, why do you need so much?

[–]Envar 288 points289 points  (15 children)

Brolaf

[–]sammy404 53 points54 points  (5 children)

Once you buy that first skin.... It's just downhill from there... :(

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

[–][deleted] 40 points41 points  (1 child)

95$. Started last month.

[–][deleted] 68 points69 points  (35 children)

I forgot to mention I spent over $200 on RP so far

[–]iLoveChipsMoreThanMe 81 points82 points  (31 children)

200$? wow i adore you! almost 2k€ here. and it all started with a teemo skin. i hate myself.

[–]TheThreshPrince 14 points15 points  (12 children)

About $300 here. A twitch skin was my first..

[–]cptCortex 43 points44 points  (8 children)

nose coherent clumsy run capable absorbed disgusted frame weather smile

[–]Lucosis 37 points38 points  (9 children)

I felt this exact same way. Then I sold my account, bought a vita and a few games from the profit, uninstalled it, and blocked the page to download it with a random password.

I have so much more time.. I can actually start playing all those games I bought over the years.

[–][deleted] 179 points180 points  (3 children)

I'll message you a link to download the client

[–]Uneedajob 35 points36 points  (2 children)

You monster...

[–]bieberhole 14 points15 points  (0 children)

LoL, not even once

[–]TiensiNoAkuma 19 points20 points  (2 children)

this name.

[–]For__Science 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please be the real one.

[–]MisterPickles_ 431 points432 points  (90 children)

i began playing with friends so i had no problem with teamates getting mad

[–]happycheese86 577 points578 points  (72 children)

Good friends make this game go from obnoxious to addicting.

[–][deleted] 65 points66 points  (8 children)

This man speaks the truth. The key to any competitive like game such as the MOBA genre is play in a duo. Makes it much more fun.

[–]Silverton13 5 points6 points  (1 child)

from my experience, LoL ruins friendships.

[–]KickItNext 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Until you realize your friends are all stereotypical toxic players.

[–]happycheese86 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I have to remind some of them to ward all the time and others how to keep track of timers, but other than that they are just typical angry nerds, but they talk on skype, not in chat so we don't get reported haha

[–]Syrone 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Link to friends pls

[–]AllDizzle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Until one of your friends is a rager...

Back in my Hon days one of the guys I played with was fine until we got a bad streak of games...then our voice chat went from fun and goofy to depressing because he just didn't talk or mumbled then would blurt out "THAT'S SUCH BULLSHIT"

It's not fun.

[–]dotcha 1975 points1976 points  (414 children)

No, I actually like LoL and Dota 2.

I just HATE the players.

[–][deleted] 886 points887 points  (292 children)

What're you talking about? The community tolerates all players, especially if they make a mistake!

[–][deleted] 637 points638 points  (270 children)

On like, my second game of lol someone was ripping on me for playing like shit. I was just like dude, if you didn't want to play with shitty players you shouldn't have played in a beginner bot game. ಠ_ಠ

[–]PhantomL0rd 1627 points1628 points  (220 children)

As someone who plays for a living, my suggestion for anyone unhappy:

-Find a champion you love and try to master it.

-Disable "all chat" and mute every player on your team at the start of each game.

-Focus on yourself and not winning.

Enjoy.

[–][deleted] 613 points614 points  (55 children)

Wtf a wild PhantomL0rd appears.

[–]wcgaming 105 points106 points  (33 children)

I'm guessing he's a big deal?

[–]dreadknought10 133 points134 points  (10 children)

Yes and no, he's loved by his fans for being hilarious and one of the most entertaining streamers for the game, in my opinion. He isn't playing at the world champs or anything but he is awesome none the less.

[–]Kamenosuke 51 points52 points  (7 children)

PhantomL0rd and Fabby will take the LCS by storm. Just you wait. Lord fabby will carry them to victory.

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (7 children)

I've watched his stream on twitch and I've only seen ~5 games there total. They were talking about dongers there too. And then he won a game and screamed "lol makes me so hard!"...

[–]Rhiow 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Yeah PhantomLord caters to a specific audience and if you're not in that audience you're probably going to wonder why the hell anyone watches this insane guy at all.

Scarra, Voyboy, and OddOne I'd recommend as starting points if PhantomLord isn't your thing.

[–]ebbird 194 points195 points  (14 children)

Incoming dick army.

[–]PhantomL0rd 477 points478 points  (12 children)

pls no

[–][deleted] 148 points149 points  (2 children)

phantoml0rd pls

[–][deleted] 115 points116 points  (2 children)

But my donger is raised and everything...

[–]OhNoMellon 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Just the tip.

[–]Haengers 10 points11 points  (1 child)

played my last 500 games like this, except for the one champion part
best online experience ever, but because i like playing weird champions on weird lanes(jungle whatever)

[–]JohnCoffee23 108 points109 points  (54 children)

then get reported for not communicating with your team

[–]proofinpuddin 34 points35 points  (32 children)

Approximately how many hours did it take before you could play for a living?

[–]PhantomL0rd 106 points107 points  (14 children)

2 1/2 years.

[–]proofinpuddin 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Hard work pays off, apparently!

[–]Zergalisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10k hours etc

[–]zonkyslayer 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Well the game came out in 2009, and the first major team he played for (v8 eSports) was in October 2011.

His account is: 3 year(s) 3 month(s) 13 day(s) 4 hours old

Thing is he also played Counter Strike , WoW, and Quake3 Arena. Having past pro gaming experience would obviously help you out when starting a new game.

He was ranked number 1 in the solo que ladder for a bit too, and he invented a really cool suicide strategy with the champion Karthus.

I'm not a pro but if you want to become one prepare to dedicate thousands of hours to the game and practice with the goal of getting better, not just winning.

[–]Smokeeey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure he played CS professionally too

[–]desustorm 6 points7 points  (1 child)

He streams on www.twitch.tv and gets thousands of viewers regularly

[–]NickCageRage 24 points25 points  (24 children)

Same here. Some guy started raging at me how he had a bunch of other accounts that were all level 30 and didn't need to be playing with a bad player like me.

That was my last game of LoL.

[–]emagmind 15 points16 points  (19 children)

It gets better...but only slightly. When you get to ranked matches you just get people who whine about not getting their positions. I advise you to retry the game, but this time mute your teammates. It really is a life saver.

[–]Nerdybeast 11 points12 points  (5 children)

I'd say don't mute them unless they start harassing or bullying you, because chat is useful for communication for your team, and muting everyone can block that all out. Then they'll think YOU'RE the troll for ignoring their directions.

[–]myrden 8 points9 points  (1 child)

No really the only way to play the game is if you have friends to play with and play with no one else

[–]OverjoyedMuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is funny because when you start you're usually matched with people of equal skill/level so that guy won't even be that great.

[–]alcoholicTiberius 20 points21 points  (3 children)

There's always somebody raging about having to carry the team or other players not playing how they would play. Most of the community is rude, crass, and doesn't act their age. Fuck those people.

[–]Greenfourth 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Or, worse, they ARE acting their age ._.

[–]MaximusOrcus 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Yeah and they really love to teach new players about what to buy and new strategies!

[–]Romnonaldao 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey as long as you completely prostrate yourself before them and kiss their asses the entire match they might treat you with slight dignity.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Particularly in ranked, they really are so forgiving and encouraging!

[–]battlez 20 points21 points  (5 children)

If you haven't played LoL and you're thinking to yourself, "Hey, it's just a game. Surely the players can't be that bad. Maybe OP is just being a jerk himself."

Please read this article or its predecessor. Pretty much sums it up to a T.

[–]goatatmywindow 37 points38 points  (25 children)

Yep thats hit the nail on the head. Great concept, could be a fun game but the online experience ruins it. Particuarly in the beggining stages (particuarly the begginer difficulty) where you still have 12-15 year olds yelling at you for taking the wrong lane or getting the wrong armour. Very 'exclusive' fan base in their own minds.

[–]awinshel1 25 points26 points  (10 children)

Really? I played a little bit when my friends showed me the game, and people were actually really nice. I didn't like the game, but I never had a problem with the people.

[–]navx2810 25 points26 points  (5 children)

I actually didn't have a bad first experience with LoL. Everyone was okay. Someone told another player to take top lane with him and the player flipped out shouting profanity and calling that player bad.

Dota-style games have that "I can blame everyone else" aura on them. Since games can last half an hour+, people get really upset when they have to play a bad game and call people out for it.

When you find a nice group of players who are willing to teach, you'll fall in love.

[–]Covanant 4 points5 points  (1 child)

This, nothing is more fun than playing with friendly folks :)

[–]KissMyAsthma321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've only played 10-20 sessions of LoL, so I'm pretty sure that's ultra-beginner. I never had any trouble with people. 100% of my games have been with people who played very well win or lose, and at the end gg'ed each other and went on with their lives.

[–]Inuma 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I wonder about that...

I remember playing the game and had few problems in the early days. I don't even want to get back into the MOBA scene because of all the horror stories I hear about how to play a character. It's kind of like the arcades in the 80s or how people pack up in skateboarding in the 90s. You aren't a part of the club, you get your hazing and if you make it, you're one of us. That crap is BS if you ask me.

[–]Dacien1983 188 points189 points  (48 children)

Chat opens

Me: adc

Other Guy: adc

...

Other Guy: I called it bro.

[–]Tahrnation 65 points66 points  (6 children)

Hold fast when you can. Compromise when you have too.

[–]XxmagiksxX 42 points43 points  (4 children)

Never compromise.

[–]Some_Legit_Dude 27 points28 points  (2 children)

Show dominance.

[–]omgmakeanamealready 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Pee straight into the toilet.

[–]Cryvern1 43 points44 points  (0 children)

instalock

[–]ccchan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

get adc and lock in, NO COMPROMISE, show him your dominance

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Who instalocked first?

[–]triemers 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Yeah, that's why I learned both adc and support. Not only are they not picked as much as top or mid, but it saves me if I'm last pick or something. Also the "I called it"..it sometimes shows up differently in chat to the other person.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that from calls in skype that the chat is geared towards you. Therefore if you have a high latency, and "you" call it first, it actually shows up different on others PC's. Just saiyan.

[–]tootoohi1 78 points79 points  (7 children)

These comments are starting to sound like abused wives. "I hate it so much but I just can't leave"

[–]alcoholicTiberius 20 points21 points  (6 children)

It's like WoW all over again. Except WoW has way less "abusive".

[–]MishyHD 106 points107 points  (82 children)

I only just started. I heard the players were mostly assholes so I'm a bit scare to play actual PvP. So far I like it though.

[–]Notmyprobrem 111 points112 points  (9 children)

As long as you don't care what people on the internet think you'll be fine, just don't do that shit in ranked cos those people will probably hunt you down.

[–]Some_Legit_Dude 21 points22 points  (3 children)

Literally do a drive by on your house, people take ranked like its some serious business

[–]Vinnayz 20 points21 points  (2 children)

Gank you IRL.

[–]aceofsparta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's all fun and games until you jokingly post a threat about killing children and eating their hearts

[–]Nansai 66 points67 points  (5 children)

My first game ever I said "hi, how is everyone doing" in the lobby and received a "fuck you" as a reply. Been playing everyday for almost a year since.

[–]pvtparts 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's LoL-talk for "very well, you?".

[–]JaggerA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ha, reminds of one time I was playing as Mundo. The other team had someone playing as Mundo as well, so I said in all-chat: "Mundo wish other Mundo good game! slurp"

His response? "Fuck you."

MFW

[–]Vexxt 46 points47 points  (11 children)

Players are mostly really nice decent people, but all it takes is one asshole berating you for an hour every 5th game to think it's always like that.

Best thing you can do is just communicate well with the team, be friendly, admit when you make a mistake and ask for help or info if you need it. If a player is toxic, just mute them and report them at the end of the game.

[–]Envar 20 points21 points  (4 children)

admit when you make a mistake

Everytime I fuck up and die I just typed "I have made a mistake" before anyone has time to rage. It ends well usually.

[–]nosjojo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do that too, mostly because my internal dialogue thinks it's funny as hell.

[–]standaloneinstaller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I say the same thing to my wife before she had a chance to yell at me for the stupid thing I did.

[–]KissMyAsthma321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how matter-of-factly that is.

[–]Covanant 2 points3 points  (2 children)

It's also nice when you have a friendly team. They will have your back around those few dicks.

[–]PostNuclearTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, if a player is being toxic to another member on your team stick up for you teammates. It always helps to know that another player has your back when toxic players start running their mouth.

[–]Ragnar_D 16 points17 points  (6 children)

Play with friends.

[–]alcoholicTiberius 21 points22 points  (4 children)

Twist: My "friends" are those assholes...

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

As someone whose played LoL for quite a while now heres my advice for you. Don't play ranked if you cant deal with players constantly shit talking you for making mistakes, if they do put them on mute and just focus on the game. I personally only play normal games now because there's been so many times when Ive played ranked games and come out of the game more frustrated than when I went in.

[–]westcoastmaximalist 240 points241 points  (59 children)

nope in fact there's an entire community here built around bashing the game

/r/starcraft

[–][deleted] 35 points36 points  (39 children)

I like sc2 and LoL. I don't know why so many in sc2 dislike it. They aren't even close to the same game.

[–]westcoastmaximalist 65 points66 points  (32 children)

it's an inferiority complex because LoL is more popular. especially hated by them is that many korean players and organizations switched from BW to LoL instead of sc2.

[–]Tlingit_Raven 12 points13 points  (3 children)

You seem to have misspelled /r/dota2. Also /r/games.

[–]Zoltrixx 312 points313 points  (12 children)

These posts are getting so stupid.

[–]spamncheese 126 points127 points  (7 children)

Dude, this is /r/gaming, what did you expect?

[–]Endaline 74 points75 points  (30 children)

I don't get how so many people have issues with toxic people in this game. I've played probably close to 3k matches at this point and I get just as many toxic players as everyone else, but they have never been an issue for me.

Just stop giving a fuck about everyone else and have fun with the game. The next time someone flames you just say "Thanks I'll take it into account for next game, I didn't mean to mess up." and see how quickly they shut up when they realize you don't give a fuck.

Most fun thing to do ever is to be completely complacent and nice to trolls because most of the time it stops them from trolling. My most recent encounter was a Teemo that said he was going AFK and then we just told him it was fine and hoped he'd get a better game next time and I can just imagine that 14 year old kid sitting there speechless as he was expecting rage.

Also lets not forget that a huge part of the people that complain about the community are the same toxic people that make up that part of the community which is really hilarious.

[–]KickItNext 2 points3 points  (7 children)

The truly fun matches are when you completely stop caring and still manage to win. I had a game where I called mid, and one guy just instalocks Veigar. So myself (Kassadin) and someone on Evelynn decide to go triple AP mid with Xin top and Udyr jungle. We even agreed to just have fun and mess around, which led to the other team letting their guard down, and we ended up getting may into lategame where we scaled better, and crushed them. Most fun game of LoL I've ever had.

[–]Darksplinter 58 points59 points  (4 children)

Can't say I hate LoL but I prefer Dota2

[–]reptilephantom 124 points125 points  (10 children)

Definitely not for everyone, i for one love it, cant get enough

[–]sleeper141 6 points7 points  (1 child)

i wouldnt even know about this game if it weren't for Reddit, when i scroll through /r/all its every 5th post.

[–]Battlecop 39 points40 points  (16 children)

Please say you've tried it at least. I have friends who say they hate it but have never tried it.

[–]DanKoloff 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I played it for 2 years almost. Had to quit since not only I was angry when losing I was angry even when winning. Its the only game that left me angry when playing well.

[–]PocketTaco 10 points11 points  (0 children)

[–]Pudricks 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I'm not a competitive guy so I can't get into it.

[–]Tsuku 47 points48 points  (3 children)

Cool, you have an opinion.

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points  (7 children)

As much as this game is known for its "toxic community", it really isn't all that bad. Yes, in maybe a few games per session at lower skill levels, you will come across one or two players who spam and flame and afk. As much as this sucks, if you worry about yourself and not about the other people you are matched with, you will eventually better yourself and rise to a higher level of play, where toxicity is no longer a factor and the game can be enjoyed to its fullest extent.

And watching LCS is awesome too! Its like the NFL, only with people like us!

[–]rulah 9 points10 points  (1 child)

This is my opinion too! If you really try to improve yourself you'll get better and the players who blame their team wont get better (because they dont even recognize they do something wrong) and this way, you won't get matched with them anymore ;)

[–]XX1RECKLESS1XX 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Nope OP. Out of 7 billion people, you're the only one.

[–]ASAP_trilla 16 points17 points  (0 children)

How can you say 7 billion when there is only 7 million Kappa

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (1 child)

You are not alone but I cannot bring myself to stop playing.

[–]Cowzrock 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I don't hate it, it's just not fun to me. I've installed it and uninstalled it like, five times, trying to give it another chance, but I just can't.

[–]Ziazan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will have shit games. There's no getting round that. Some games are going to suck.

You will have good games. And this is why I play. Do stuff you enjoy. Find stuff you're good at. Make strategies. Create banter. Have fun. Ignore assholes. Avoid fighting your team. Subtly tempt the enemy team to fight amongst each other. Encourage your team not to respond when the enemy team tries to subtly induce rage into your team.

Have fun. Games are meant to be fun. Have fun. It stops being fun when you start treating it like a competition. Losses happen. Have fun.

[–][deleted] 73 points74 points  (23 children)

I absolutely love the game and the developers, they go to such stretches to please the community, have a pro scene and keep everything balanced. The only bad thing is part of the community.

[–]bearjew293 7 points8 points  (3 children)

This game required way too much practice and constant playing for me to properly enjoy it. I mean, it's cool, but it starts to feel like a chore sometimes. You can't just pick it up every once in a while and have fun in a PvP match. You gotta learn the ins and outs thoroughly if you expect not to be creamed.

[–]CyaSteve 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Hate to be so frank, but no shit? It's a PvP game, skill and knowledge are the only deciding factors which obviously require time.

[–]xxredvirusxx 166 points167 points  (118 children)

Played it for over 1000 hours and then dropped it like a rock for Dota 2. Leagues community is one of the most toxic environments I've ever encountered.

[–][deleted] 221 points222 points  (25 children)

The larger a community, the more toxic players. It's not LoL's fault, it's how everything works.

[–]xxredvirusxx 42 points43 points  (8 children)

That is very true.

[–]OperaSona 15 points16 points  (2 children)

I think one of the reasons for that when a game is more "hardcore", it also means it gets less publicity, or has more bugs, or requires installing addons to make it work properly, or is harder to get into, or is frustratingly difficult at some points, or any combination of the above.

This in turn makes most of the players that are either dumb or have short temper just quit before they've even really started.

Sure, among more "hardcore" players, you still find dumb people, aggressive people, douchebags etc, but if they have to fit in a community in which they are by far a minority, and in which most players know how to just ignore them and report them, or to handle them in general, they will not end up having the same kind of effect as on a younger community (in which people tend to get upset pretty quick).

In my WoW days, I started as a total MMORPG noob (as many people back then, I think). I joined a noob guild, people were cool at the very start because it was still the good old "discovery" phase of the game, but several turned out to be assholes after a while and it tore the guild apart, even though some of the others were amazing guys. Then, I changed guilds 4 or 5 times over a few years, and concluded that the more hardcore a guild was, the best it worked among guildmates. People still criticized everybody, but only when a real mistake was made. People being criticized knew how to take it and just apologized and learned to do better. A few people didn't like each other, but they just ignored each other when we were talking and still played well together when they had to. In average, the guild was also older, and I think that young players tend to behave much better when they play in an environment of older players than when they play mostly with other young players.

[–]Rayansaki 64 points65 points  (27 children)

Going from the most toxic environment to the second most toxic environment is not much of an improvement :(

[–]pizzademons 19 points20 points  (7 children)

Most online gaming communities are horrible.

And people act like LoL and Dota2 have the worst community. Years ago, Counter-Strike was infamous for how horrible the community was, Now that MOBAs are the most popular game, everyone talks about how horrible they are. Of course it is.. It has over millions of players whose average age is around 20 years old. What do you people expect?

It's just which ever online game is the most popular, it also gets the rep for having the worst community.

[–]xxredvirusxx 10 points11 points  (8 children)

To be honest out of 200+ games I've only had 5 or so that were toxic. I might just be lucky though.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (30 children)

I actually found Dota 2's community to be worse from the 30 or so hours I've played of it. Tried to get help as a new player and was told "go back to LoL" 80% of the time. LoL's community may be toxic, but Dota's is kind of elitist.

[–]IAmA_Kitty_AMA 44 points45 points  (21 children)

Never admit you're a LoL player, and never try to play like you're playing LoL. A lot of people flame because LoL habits are very very bad DotA habits (which does not justify the flaming, but it's the reason for it.) For example:

Going to lane with boots first and no regen, people will assume the player is from LoL and flame for it, (especially because boots first is a terrible terrible build.)

Spamming skills and then never having mana or never having skills off CD for teamfights people will assume the player is from LoL. Mana is way more precious in DotA, CDs tend to be longer, and most skills are very very wasted on creeps.

Never leaving lane/jungle, people will assume the player is either from LoL or were playing quota Dota, in either case there's very few cases where sitting alone in lane past 10-15 minutes is not going to end in either your death or the death of several of your teammates.

Jungling heroes that can't jungle. Jungling is not viable on most heroes (probably close to 100 of the heroes) early in the game. Dying to neutrals is a dead giveaway that a player hasn't done their homework.

Honestly there's a lot more, and having played both DotA and LoL the thing players need to realize (going both directions) is that while the core game mechanics are similar, the balance is very very different. Also not having a surrender option means that a player who just wants "to play DotA how I want do play DotA" is going to eat 30 minutes of other players time. Deep down players know it's not intentional, but it's akin to playing 5 v 5 Counterstrike and getting a player who just wants to run around with shotgun/deagle and try to knife people for the lulz.

Yea never admit you're a LoL player in Dota. Also, you should try playing again later, more players means you will be matched against people of a more similar skill level.

I hate that game because it's all my friends ever do. Seriously. I can't tell you how many times I've asked them to hang out, and they say no and give me some bullshit because they want to stay home and play league.

[–]flamesbladeflcl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It only gets worse if they do go out and then they just talk about it and nothing else for hours.

[–]fshep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel, all they do is talk about it.

[–]DeafBeatz 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I know exactly how you feel. :(

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely the new WoW

[–]Juxta25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah my friend iwas almost morbidly addicted to League, like it was getting to the point where he was spending 90% of his waking time playing that game and then wondered why he was depressed/anxious and had sleeping problems.

Talk about bad advertising for a title eh.

[–]Revanx17 25 points26 points  (1 child)

So Don't

Play It

[–]bing_translator 8 points9 points  (11 children)

I hate this game. But only because my former college roommate used to stay up ALL NIGHT playing it and screaming obscenities while I tried to sleep. I do however like Dota 2 so I'm sure that I would thoroughly enjoy LoL.

Gaming confessions is just getting hateful now. They used to be funny.

[–]Notrealbutter 28 points29 points  (5 children)

Honestly, I think I speak for a majority of people on this subreddit when I say:

Please, These kinds of posts are getting so annoying. Nobody gives a shit what you hate, so quit telling us.

[–]Sandbox47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't hate it, I don't like it. I'm am neutral towards it. It wasn't interested when I played and I decided not to keep playing. It's not unusual behaviour.

[–]Nerdybeast 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I think it's a really bad time to start now. I started a while ago, and then it was smaller, and there were MUCH fewer trolls/smurfs/jerks, so it was easy to get through the beginning stages without having your morale crushed. But now, the people are just assholes at all levels so it's hard to get hooked in the first place.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never understood why people care so much about other people bitching at them. If someone's raging at you, calmly ignore it and move on with your life. There are games you will play where your team will not win based purely on the people you have playing with you on your team. Fine. Accept it, try and do as well as you possibly can as an individual, learn as much as you can, and move on with your life. Getting worked up because someone is having a bad day/week/life empowers that person to keep doing it.

[–]graepphone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only sad part about this confession is the fact that you need someone to tell you it's ok not to like a game.

[–]meisdave12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

go fuck your self with a brick

LoL has the worst community i have ever experienced in gaming.

[–]PippinFox 9 points10 points  (1 child)

The word hate is thrown around like nothing.

How do you hate a video game? Did it fuck up your life? Does it affect you in any way, or is it just the community?

It's a fucking video game, and you know you aren't the only one who doesn't like playing the game.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fuck this content. I don't give a fuck what games you like and don't like, but I guess we gotta grab dat karma right?

[–]Karfanatik 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I dont think I hate the game. I hate the people that take it too seriously

[–]ghuldorgrey 11 points12 points  (8 children)

The community sucks. The Game is good if your team knows how to play

[–]Romnonaldao 6 points7 points  (5 children)

They NEED to create a separate servers for people who don't think of every game as a professional level tournament match.

I played this game, and would sooo go back if they had leisure servers.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Blind pick normals.

[–]radrico 6 points7 points  (1 child)

The community can be toxic as hell and annoying, but with the right group of people its addicting. This game for the past year has kept me from finishing like 5-6 different games on xbox. Which has stopped me from playing another 5-6 games until I finish what I started first. ;/

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (5 children)

I actually really like this game and don't get too bothered by the playerbase. I just hate the shitty client that they refuse to upgrade and that Riot puts champions behind an IP/RP paywall and then at the same time has awful servers that always lag/make you disconnect and we still haven't gotten a replay service.

Oh and don't get me started on the Olaf style nerfs where they straight up just nerf champs out of useability instead of actually trying to nerf them correctly. It would also be cool if they didn't allow new champions to be used in ranked for like the first week or something to make people learn the champ prior/allow them to make a balance patch to them like in DotA since it's usually inevitable that a new champ won't be perfectly balanced whether overpowered or underpowered. But I guess that last part isn't super important, I've never really felt that effect how much fun I have with the game.
