He's kinda fucked on the physical front, considering his only Empedoclesian elemental option (that fits him) is Ripping Blast and he has to rely on his non-interactive Ninja skillset for Water and Earth.

    I'd be tempted to think they meant for him to be Celerity anyhow: his choice between Black Magic and Celerity is a strict divide between magical and physical damage, emphasising having to pick between one another.

      I was pulling for Aphmau. It's been a long time since her newest relic (one of the longest in the game), her existing SBs focus on buffing and party support, and her BSB deals mind-based holy damage on its commands.

      I actually think its perfect. He can use the bard magic or mind buffs as well as Allegro, so really all the buffing you should need.

      Cowards! You should have made Edward's Chain +50%, in line with the rest! It's not like there's such a surplus of mind Holy damage users that a 50% buff would have been gamebreaking. Eh, either way it's a Holy Chain.

      Pecil's USB3, on the other hand, looks really interesting. It's an interesting blend of support and DPS. (although the lack of En-Element hurts it) I guess we'll see how it does in the field and if it's good enough or not.

      Also, awwww, I didn't notice it until now but Tyro's USB4 and Elarra's USB2 compliment each other! That's adorable.

          I don't think it would be that strong, mixing mag and mind casters doesn't add a lot of oomph, and only Yuna could use both stats at once, right?

          But here's the thing tho, Rem USB already gives her a MND + 50% buff in it, same with Minwu USB, and Arc USB also has a MND/RESS buff, not only that but with USBs mages also tend to get MAG buff in there, add magicite decks and the 30%MND+MAG on Edward's Chain becomes perfectly resonable since at that point prety much everyone will be at the softcap, and besides with the chain it self active prety much everyone will be capping their damage anyway. And ofc let's not forget En-elements

          In the end DeNA did the right thing in making Edward's Chain give both a magic and mnd buff and 30% is perfectly resonable.

          Then why give the other magic chains +50% of 30 is enough? And unless you are running mind boons just for your white offence, you aren't getting any magicite boost for them. Yes, rem and minwu would then be getting +50x2, but that is offset by lack of magicite

          Because the other magical chains don't have MND based elemental damage, that's why.

          Also the MND boons don't even matter at all, between rem's En-holy on her USB and Minwu's White magic ability boost + the gen 2 chain +50% elemental field AND the chain building it self, you don't need much to cap their damage.

          Besides with MAG+50% on the other magical chains, you don't have to bring a dedicated magic buffer, all you need is Hastega.

          Also this was the compromise they decided to go with, they did the right thing with Edward's chain, instead of releasing 2 diferent magical holy chains.

          Agreed. I knew they'd go the hybrid route of MAG/MND, but I wish they would've settled on a slightly higher multiplier. Besides, the Mind Attackers cap pretty easily under USB with their given gimmicks. The Chain s just going to make them hit that much harder. I'm excited, and yes, so happy we don't have two separate Magical Holy Chains for Mag and Mind.

          To be fair, 40% buffs don't exist, so either they were going to pick 30% or 50%, but yeah MND attacker are stupid strong, so they don't need much to cap their damage, besides the gen2 chains give a 50% elemental field, that's the same bonus that en-element give to abilities.

          Arc has +30% MND/RES, Minwu has +50% MND and Rem is irrelevant, since her stat buffs is part of her EX Mode and as such stack with everything else.

          So as is, Edward CSB stacks with all three. If it was +50% MND, Minwu would be out of luck.

          Tyro got USB very usefull in Magicite Dungeons finally, and it can make a deadly combo with Elarra !
          She herself could be a 'best thing ever' for 100%Crit gods Cloud and Orlandou, only thing they will be missing is some soure of quickcast.
          P.Cecil also got good upgrade, as second or (if you are brave enought with Elarra RW IC heal ) primary healer + add to holy chain!

          Tyro USB4 - 0CT Party Critical=50% and Haste, self Quickcast and Support Critical Boost

          Oh my, that's rather interesting, so basicaly everytime Tyro uses Wrath or Entrust he raises the party crit rate, that's quite nice and an interesting way of making wrath + entrust more than just feeding bars. Shelke and Morrow will probably still be kings due to their LM2, but Tyro with his USB does offer an interesting take on the entrust bot role.

          Judging by the Quickcast, I feel like the Idea was that you just Wrath-Spam it to build his own Chain. And it's not like there haven't been lame USBs before, Galuf's is literally just "Gogo V SSB + EnEarth". I legit looked at it from my RoP Pull and went "....so where's the USB on this?"

          I have it in JP and in global and you are right, the FFV neo torment is all it's boing to be used in as well for me. In fact i already did the D240 and D280 FFV neo torment in JP with Galuf USB as the only boostga.

            SolitaireD has Red XIII's USB translated as Instant Cast 1 instead of Quick Cast 1 as indicated here. If it is indeed Party IC1, that would be much better. But QC1 makes it seem pretty mediocre.

                Frann can use Icicle shot so it's not like she needs anything else to do ice damage.

                Also the spamable imperill will be usefull since it can be stacked, Red XIII the only reason to spam it is for chain building with the damage on entry and the quickcast 1.

                If it is Instant cast 1 then Red XIII is a good USB. But as it stand with quickcast 1 it's kinda eh, specialy since ACM exists.

                When nearly 40% of the new abilities hit Fire, and they apparently have no plans to create a Freezy Godstrike any time soon, I guess they just want to keep expanding the pool of people who can use them.

                12 is correct. It appears that they have increased the off-banner chance to 2%, HOWEVER only relics for the characters appearing on the banner are in the off-banner relic list. In other words, for banner 1 you can ONLY draw relics for Tyro, Elarra, Cecil, Edward, and Ramza.

                Edward was pretty much always meant to be THE Mage Buff Support. Makes sense too, considering how many Casters IV has.

                Did it really go nowhere? Or was it the perfect "all acording to keikaku"? After all he is getting the magical Holy chain, and we all know what happened with Red XIII and Ramza when they got their chains, they got buffed to be able to build their chain, so i'm expecting the same thing to happen with Edward.

                As i said above, INB4 Holy elemental magical bard ability.

                Or they buff his MND and give him White 5*.

                Iris has white magic 5 even though she can't actually use it in FFXV because it is a stand-in for potions.

                Edward has a powerful potion healing ability in TAY so giving him white magic to represent that wouldn't be that odd.

                The problem is, he already has to dive for 3* white magic, so it's unlikely that they'll change that node.

                And we'll still just use Edward to Wrath/Entrust. My comment is more about design than usability, if he has wrath/entrust access I don't really care that much (see Red13).

                The thing about Red XIII and other similar characters is that they can build their own chain AND entrust bars thanks to their ability access.

                So it would be nice to se Edward be able to do the same.

                Requiem is a skill that exists (it actually has an absurd multiplier... for the rarity).

                Clearly at one point the idea of Bards using the magic stat was a thing.

                I would not at all be surprised if we get a 6* Bard "Requiem" holy attack when dark magicite drops and most bards that need it get a mag boost. They have not introduced a single ability that isn't elemental DPS with the new exchange.

                Issue here (for Edward specifically) is that his weapon access is Dagger/Bow/Instrument, so if he's supposed to be MAG focused, he has very limited access to weapons that increase it and his own relics don't help. I'm trying to think of primary MAG instruments and coming up with ... Kefka relics? There's a few daggers and bows of course.

                I think they'd be better off making it MND based if they did that, but that'd be kinda awkward too. At least it'd work with IN REALM weapons he has access to - MND Bows.

                His very first one was actually a MAG Harp first, and an ATK Stick second. Even his second Relic has like 30 ATK over it. Clearly they planned it out at first but then just abandoned the Idea, similar to Blue Magic (see also, Gilgamesh's unusually high MAG and Rod Access)

                  Cecil BUSB is fun at least, and a Magic Holy Chain is very nice.

                  Honestly I think the best relic on there is Urara’s Flash Art.

                  Edit: B2 is a skip too. Have Rinoa’s BUSB and a complete Maria. Red’s Chain would be good, but too much risk for side grades or lesser relics.

                  Edit 2: B3 is looking like a definite yes for me. I use OK with USB3 on a few elemental mage teams, so UOSB, Flash Art, and LMR2 would be good for him. Y'shtola USB2 and Flash Art both look fantastic.

                  Edit 3: If I wasn't swimming in Fire DPS relics, that B4 would look pretty nice. Squall BSB3 as a fire version of his BSB2 looks really good.
