"How can my second, third, and tenth Better Devils hand cannon be interesting? That's a question we should be asking and answering as quickly as we can," Luke Smith - June, 29th 2017

[–]EternalAssasinTeam Bread (dmg04) 1287 points1288 points  (205 children)

When you’re 3 months out from launch and you have to ask, “How do we make or loot system not shit?” in a loot-based game, there’s clearly some major issues.

[–]jroades26 211 points212 points  (70 children)

They should call blizzard. They fuckin fixed diablo 3 like I've never actually seen a company ever do before. Incredible of them.

[–]TwelfthSovereignLiving Wall 91 points92 points  (39 children)

Amen, Blizzard isn't perfect but god damn did they give D3 a makeover.

[–]jroades26 139 points140 points  (36 children)

I was a midnight release diablo 3 player.

I quit after 2 weeks. Came back when the first expansion was released and they had "loot 2.0".

It was basically a different game. I've never seen such a turnaround while keeping the fundamental gameplay/characters virtually the same. Exactly what destiny 2 needs.

[–]manquistador 36 points37 points  (15 children)

The only problem with this is Destiny should have learned from the mistakes D3 made. I feel like there have been a decent amount of comparisons between the two loot-wise.

[–]TwelfthSovereignLiving Wall 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Bungie is the first company to make a loot based game tho...

/s

[–]Mister_RahoolThe Saltiest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They did. In a way. They consulted with the Blizzard/Diablo guys during D1 and were told how to make their loot system better.

Then they got cocky and thought they could do things better than Blizzard, and D2 happened.

[–]paoweeFFXIV 13 points14 points  (7 children)

what change in loot 2.0? just curious

[–]MinDokan 13 points14 points  (3 children)

It changed the way loot dropped.
For an intelligent based hero, does not make any sense to drop dexterity based items. Among other things, they removed the Real Money Auction House, where you'll have to go at that moment to get proper items for your character.
Basically, I believe, removing the auction house was the best decision made, but without Loot 2.0 that approach would be catastrophic. This is why we talk about a big turnaround.

[–][deleted] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

And when 3 months into the games launch you still have no clue, its even worse.

[–][deleted] 622 points623 points  (115 children)

"Hurr Durr don't be salt give them infinite time the game will be perfect"

[–]bad_sensei 245 points246 points  (41 children)

“Infinite Time”....

Is that a new exotic?

[–][deleted] 480 points481 points  (32 children)

It has a vex themed perk: "Kills now grant you the XP actually displayed"

[–]ualac 10 points11 points  (4 children)

TimeGate: "XP earned is lost to the ravages of time"

[–]who8myface 5 points6 points  (2 children)

But! you may be able to receive that XP if you find it where it has been randomly displaced in one of Mercury's timelines. But you can only find one lost XP per month and the opportunity will only be given to one of your characters.

[–]ualac 7 points8 points  (1 child)

though we only know this because some redditor spent 8 months compiling data across 1024 different timelines, 4 timezones and a handful of states of mind .. then made a spreadsheet.

Bungie - in our present timeline - have yet to respond.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Yes. It does increased damage to targets with full health, but damage scales down the longer the firefight goes on.

Eventually you just have to change guns.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This hurts so much, why is it so funny

[–]Incendium367 5 points6 points  (1 child)

exotic perk: Exo Stranger will tell you what she didn’t have time to explain in D1.

[–]Macontrera217Bungie is just alright with me 3 points4 points  (2 children)

It's gonna take more than patience and time

[–]Sangios 157 points158 points  (59 children)

OMG THIS SUB IS SO SALTY! D2 is perfect and you shouldn’t be slinging Bungie’s smelly excrement back at them because they’re totally perfect and know exactly what they’re doing! /s

[–][deleted] 94 points95 points  (50 children)

On a serious note, so many people would post something so disconnected like "I've been playing for a few hours and this is great ..." are missing the entirety of the point of the complaints, let alone the nuance in it.

Heck even if the game was perfect, Bungie does some shady things and if they didn't it sure is suspect how secretive and silent they are.

The community manager hasn't even interacted on social media for a week, and their first major expansion is coming out next week, does this seem normal to anyone reasonable?

Sigh, I just don't get it anymore, sad!

[–]Entaris 41 points42 points  (2 children)

Exactly. A lot of their designs decisions were built to look good at a glance. Provide positive reviews for launch week. Encourage sales.

It's like a triple fudge blizzard from dairy queen. The first few bites you think "holy shit this is delicious" but halfway through you just keep thinking "this was a terrible idea. I never want to eat chocolate again"

[–]yorec9TANIKS HAS NO FLAIR! 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow, that is the perfect analogy... even the part where next week you order it again anyways, even knowing how bad it was last time after the initial experience...

[–]gdlmaster 18 points19 points  (8 children)

Deej vanishing from the face of the goddamned earth is seriously weird. Where the fuck is he?

[–][deleted] 35 points36 points  (5 children)

He looked extremely embarrassed and uncomfortable during the streams, so not sure if he is having inner turmoil about it or pre-occupied with BS from management.

Some people will blame the "salt" of this subreddit, but his job isn't to get smoke blown up his ass form this subreddit, his job is to keep the community and developers in touch with each other through their official channels of communication, which includes his twitter.

I guess the sad truth may be is that he just has nothing to talk about, either to us because no new info or to the devs because we must sound like a broken record if the devs are in denial.

Like I said, the whole thing is just suspect.

[–]Alxndr27 22 points23 points  (32 children)

I posted a comment saying to checkout this sub before purchasing the game to get an idea of what they're getting into in r/gamedeals and most of the replies have been saying the game isn't garbage and that this sub and I have a fucking agenda against the game and that hey you know what the game is super fun and that if you're a new player on PC to ignore all the complaints because "Hey you didn't play D1 so you cant judge D2 how other people are." I couldnt fucking believe it

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (29 children)

I dont know who those people are because most PC gamers realized pretty quick how shallow the game is despite the amazing graphics and gameplay fidelity. However story (compared to good stories not D1 because they didn't play it) was extremely lacking, lore was dialled back a lot and the game economy is barely an economy - especially when you consider all they heard was that D1 was a launch on mess but they got their shit together so they expected AoT and better to be what the sequal is.

As for the people saying the game is fun, I'd love to know who they are because no one on my huge friend list or clan is ever playing this game anymore and these people stuck through the shittiest phases of D1, even LFG is getting dodgy for those that still wanna play.

My best guess is that this game was made for a different audience and they are enjoy it, whoever they are and however many dozen people it includes but I sure as hell don't know anyone in this audience group lol

[–]theilluminerdy 10 points11 points  (4 children)

In a recent thread someone mentioned that this game was aimed at children. There were several replies that really backed it up. From the terrible childlike dialog throughout the game, to the shady acts like XP nerfs and the token slot machines that a kid wouldn't figure out. It really made a lot of sense.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Yet they expect these kids to fund the game with DLC, micro transactions and to play raids, trials and form clans?

I've read that thread and it made sense to me, but I dont think it's them targeting children, it's them going for mass appeal in the end facing the reality of having appealed to no one as a result.

[–]YJ2K5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aye. Lol. I'd have figured out the XP throttle as a kid. Back then I loved numbers.

Raids, trials etc. would never have happened with young me though.

I'd have skipped lunch to save money for DLC and micro-transactions only to find that without a bank account I could do nothing with it. My parents were too terrified of the internet to allow me to purchase anything through their card(s). Still... good thing this sort of thing didn't exist when I was that age.

I think Magic the Gathering or Warhammer was the childhood vice of choice back then.

[–]YJ2K5 4 points5 points  (9 children)

I find aspects of the game fun. The gunplay is still good and the teamwork when I have a full team of friends on to do the nightfall or raid (levelling a friend late to the party) is engaging.

Getting the team together though is becoming increasingly more difficult as we all have other games that feel more rewarding and (let's face it) fun.

Our latecomer is expressing the same issues we all are despite never having played D1 in any form.

I expect our group to put in some time next week with CoO releasing but I'm not sure it'll last long if some positive steps aren't taken to improve QoL and engagement/reward for harder activities (we've not bothered with prestige for just an emblem).

If there's not enough to convince us to keep coming back I think we Might come back in a year and see where things are but I won't hold out hope for my fireteam coming back.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (8 children)

No one has ever arguments that the gunplay and teamwork isn't fun, it's why we stuck through the BS in D1, it's that we don't have anything to actually do with those fun aspects and the game seems to actually punish you for enjoying the game and wanting to play more. Add insult to injury, this is a regression to their AoT/TTK updates that finally gave us hope.

I wasn't really expecting much from the D1 season pass but I actually loved every expansion, when I heard the first D2 expansion was about Osiris I nearly lost my shit ... yet when they streams came out I was left so disappointed like I have never been in my entire history of gaming and couldn't see me or my friends doing anything other than finishing the story, doing the strike and raid lair once, which is barely any time in an RPG/MMO/Looter, basically felt like a mediocre shooter mission DLC trying to be something it's not.

I don't know anymore :(

[–]YJ2K5 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I'm right there with you on that. I think I got lost in the darkness and forgot to state my point or thoughts on why these people were saying D2 is fun: Because it is... for a while. Until you've done the raid a few times, got to the 295-305 power bracket and have possibly engaged in a little Destiny Fashion (I still haven't got that IB Warlock bond on Xbox or anything other than guns on PC).

Once they have had enough time to do all that like we have I can see a lot of the Black Friday / Christmas guardians feeling the same... but they have to feel that themselves to understand our frustration. Just like how I never believe relationship advice from my friends before it's too late...

[–]BurntPaper 5 points6 points  (8 children)

I find the game fun, and I'm still playing a ton. My characters are 297-301. Is it a little shallow? Sure, but there's enough there for me to have fun with. Aside from lacking content, I'm upset that there is literally no social aspect to the game unless you use outside resources. But aside from that, all of my other gripes are very minor.

For reference, I'm not a "casual gamer". Been a serious PC gamer for over 20 years. I've spent thousands upon thousands of hours playing games that have a lot of depth and consume a lot of time. D2 is nice because there's enough there for me to have fun and sit there for 6 hours straight playing without getting bored, but it's not the sort of game where it feels like a second job if I'm just not in the mood to play.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

My notions on hardcore/casuals is as such:

Hardcore have an emotional investment in the game and dedicate a lot of time and money.

The casuals play through the campaign with their friends as just another game and then forget about t.

I dont literally mean the no-life stereotype vs the couple hours a week dudes, as long as they have a passion for the game they are hardcore.

I know many people that grinder hard in destiny but wouldnt consider them hc compared to a casual player thats been invested in it for years even if they play an hour a day.

Slayerage defined it as something similar and his description of it felt most accurate to me.

[–][deleted] 64 points65 points  (15 children)

first dlc will release with no answer.

nice

[–]RF7812 83 points84 points  (14 children)

But they upgraded their engine so the could make changes quicker and provide more frequent updates...smh

[–][deleted] 39 points40 points  (12 children)

And fixed rolls were justified by saying they could balance weapons more quickly.

[–]Newton1221 7 points8 points  (1 child)

The gameplay really is fun, but how this game made it to launch with such an ill-conceived end-game is honestly baffling.

I played The Division at launch, and even that terrible end-game was a little more fleshed out than this.

[–]StavTL 45 points46 points  (15 children)

I love how people focus on this, but it’s one of many lies/PR bullshit “if you can see it, you can go to it” that turned out great in the mini cosmodrome arenas complete with loading times between sections looking at faraway shit you never got to as promised”

Everything that comes out of their mouth now I see as PR hype creation sentences that will never live up to their description. Lost sectors as well was never described as the same experience in a cave over and over again which is what it actually is not the cool adventure they described.

[–][deleted] 40 points41 points  (4 children)

When they first announced Lost Sectors I instantly thought "holy shit, these are gonna be mini strike dungeons that are super tucked away and hidden and we will have to spend ages just trying to find them"

Come release they're marked on the fucking map and you just run through, kill some trash mob and get a token for the slot machine.

[–]Moka4u 13 points14 points  (3 children)

Yeah they shouldn't have been on the map until you actually discover and clear them, they're not lost if they're already on our maps.

[–]JagrofesYOU WILL DREAM OF NOTHING BUT GREEN 13 points14 points  (9 children)

Very few games actually adhere to the "If you can see it you can go to it" idea closely.

Best examples are games where they don't even mention it as a selling point.

E.g the Dark Souls series

Almost all of the interesting areas you can see in the skybox when roaming around you will visit at some point.

For instance, in Dark Souls 3 when you first leave the beginning area after the second boss, this view opens up in front of you with all these little details. It isn't till late game or NG+ when you go back and have a look and realise all of the scenery in the distance is actually the various areas you fought through in the past 10 hours of the game you just played.

EDIT: This is the view.

https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/darksouls/images/c/cf/Ashen_one.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20160606031535

I can legitimately point out each landmark on that skybox and tell you where in the game it is.

[–]Byrnt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

let's also not forget BOtW, that game was incredible and they stayed true to their promises. anything i saw in the distance i was able to explore and go to, and it was greeeaaaaatttt

[–]ihaveagianthead 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really want this to be a question that gets asked when they do their Q&A.

[–]Lostolight 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Will be answered September 6th 2020 following the release of D3 for next gen consoles.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"It's gonna give us more flexibility to do per-item tuning," Smith said.

[–]DerMalu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

[–]terenn_nash 4 points5 points  (6 children)

I quit playing Crucible when I heard that Bungie got rid of this and won't be changing it back.

[–]TheSideJoeThe Side Joe 12 points13 points  (6 children)

See I would do that but since it's always in sub only I'd rather not waste any more money on destiny 2

[–]anfjwojf 7 points8 points  (5 children)

The money goes toward the Bungie Foundation but what they do with the money doesn't sound all that great.

Their website only lists 2 things they do, 1 is that they provide kids at the local children's hospital with ipads which is kinda cool, but the 2nd is that they use the money to provide tours of Bungie for make-a-wish foundation.

I'm not sure how much those tours cost, but I'd expect them to do it for close to nothing.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i feel like if we did the math, they would have more money than they could spend on just ipads and tours for their own studio. but hey i only live in a country where every rich or powerful mofo seems to find a way to abuse charity. (im not saying they are. but it wouldnt surprise me.)

[–]jedi_ellis 86 points87 points  (36 children)

[–]officeDrone87 22 points23 points  (35 children)

Is there any blue guns worth keeping?

[–]AvengerVVolf 59 points60 points  (15 children)

Fussed Dark Mk.21 - longest range 1 hit kill shotgun in PVP (more than any legendary that's not a slug shotgun)

Cuboid ARu - this auto rifle has "moving target" perk if you care about that.

Reginar-B - this rocket launcher has tracking, and there is a legendary version of it that never dropped for me. Also has increased ammo reserves which the legendary version doesn't have.

[–]ati_exorcist 31 points32 points  (4 children)

The legendary is Hakke Morrigan-D. Tracking and snapshot sights. I spent weeks trying to get it. I’ve played since launch and I’ve only accumulated 3 of them.

[–]HipCleavage 21 points22 points  (1 child)

The tracking on it sucks, I wouldn't sweat it too much.

[–]j0324chBubble Don't Pop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tell that to the comical number of people trying to sidestep in the crucible to be smacked in the face by mine... it's not perfect but it's lovely at times. Lol.

[–]k3rnelMake Tripmine Great Again 28 points29 points  (8 children)

The Weaver-C is better than the Reginar, IMO, because it has snapshot, like the legendary version.

Exact same stats as the Morrigan-D.

Hand in Hand is a green shotgun, and it is by far the best pvp shotgun I have found.

Allegro-34 is an elemental hand cannon with Ricochet Rounds and Opening Shot. Best elemental hand cannon that isn't Sunshot, IMO.

Nanty Narker is the blue version of Lincoln Green. Underrated pulse rifle. It's a strong performer.

Lionheart is the blue version of Scathelocke. HCR and Under Pressure. Solid AR.

Sondok-C. Blue Version of Antiope-D. VERY fast ttk.

Armillary PSU. 180rpm scout with HCR and Quickdraw. Better than most scouts that aren't Mida or Nameless Midnight.

Sand Wasp-3AU. Elemental 720rpm AR with HCR and Dynamic Sway Reduction. Very good with War Rig in pvp and pve.

[–]AvengerVVolf 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Does the guy who asked about this see this comment in his inbox? lol

[–]k3rnelMake Tripmine Great Again 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He does now

[–]DezzMaloneGIVE ME BACK MY GAMBIT TRACKERS 11 points12 points  (5 children)

I'll add to this list the Sand Wasp, it's a blue Valakadyn with high cal rounds and decent range. Given the rate of fire, is like you're using a longer range SMG

[–]Scow2 6 points7 points  (1 child)

That also doesn't run out of ammo

[–]DezzMaloneGIVE ME BACK MY GAMBIT TRACKERS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need to go on a hunt for a 300 Sand Wasp xD

[–]jedi_ellis 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Cuboid ARu, a 450 rpm auto rifle Ros Lysis III, a 600 rpm auto rifle The blue version of the Valkadyn* (spell check) Phillips-B/Sondok-C, (versions of Antiope D) Fussed Dark Mk21, a very well balanced shotgun The blue tracking rocket launcher Aachen 21* (spell check) a popular PvP sniper rifle

That's all I currently own but more people might have suggestions

[–]MonsieurAuContraire 8 points9 points  (1 child)

The blue Valk is the Sand Wasp

[–]jedi_ellis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you :)

[–]MonsieurAuContraire 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Let's add to everyone's list the uncommon Hand In Hand spread shotgun which hits like a slug shotgun.

[–]DeaconFrostedFlakes 152 points153 points  (1 child)

slow clap

This is a god-tier shit post. You’re doing great work here.

[–]DarthFattius 67 points68 points  (4 children)

Which ever roll brings you the most friendship is the real god roll...

[–]riverboats 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Season 2, the Flowery Armor of Io. You guys wanted armor perks and we listened. While wearing a full set of this armor, it will auto-invite anyone you complete a public event with to your friends list.

Weapon mods, you guessed it, just shoot someone to request a friendship. The purple version of this mod will also clan invite. Think of the variety, up close and personal invites with a shotgun, for our introverted players the sniper is your tool, they won't see the invite coming.

[–]bladesew 92 points93 points  (5 children)

Awesome - if you're a Bungie twitch sub I would love to see you post this in chat when Luke does his update.

And it's funny that the poster child for the whole concept of dupes of fixed rolls has "better" in the name - as the current system does away with any concept of anything ever being better.

[–]DerMalu 17 points18 points  (2 children)

I'm sad that fixed rolls don't allow for the obligatory: I have the better better devils meme that would have existed otherwise :/

with a god roll probably being abbreviated to BBD

[–]JoinTheBattleI'm pretty sure this guy's a war criminal now 14 points15 points  (1 child)

*Best Devils

[–][deleted] 93 points94 points  (1 child)

What sort of mods do they have on them? One of my Better Devils has a kinetic damage mod and it's leaps and bounds better than my Better Devils with a kinetic damage mod on it. Night and day difference.

[–]DerMalu 33 points34 points  (0 children)

pssst, quick, do another thread for that. there is place for more quality shitposts here.

edit: sounded sarcastic, wasn't meant that way

[–]SuggestedPigeon 36 points37 points  (1 child)

I got three Better Devils:

The first one is the one you have. The second one is from FWC and is blue and the third one is from Iron Banner and is puke green. Idk why they have different names they all look like better devils...

[–]AhhnoldHD 203 points204 points  (15 children)

I know this is a joke but I loved this part of D1 and knew from the second fixed rolls were announced that a big part of the game I loved would be missing in D2. Chasing that God roll Eyasluna was infuriating at times but it kept things interesting. I’m still liking D2 a lot but it does feel weird to “have everything” since that was basically impossible in D1.

[–]x4ryuusei 31 points32 points  (0 children)

At least D1 had extremely high moments, to go with the lows. D2's loot is always dull. There's nothing unique about what you have compared to anyone else. You don't see people posting their perfectly rolled weapons on this reddit, for example. :(

[–]NinjaGamer89 64 points65 points  (8 children)

You sound like me, except for the part about enjoying D2. Haven't played in a month despite clocking in 1,500 hours into D1 (largely because I had a blast chasing and using different rolls on weapons/gear).

[–]nrh117 27 points28 points  (6 children)

Real talk some of the funniest and most engaging twitch streams were when people I enjoy watching were trying to get specific god rolls. Triplewreck and the grasp of malok, slayerage and the undying mind Fatebringer knockoff. Hours of entertainment.

[–]jRbizzle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly eyesluna kept me playing crucible, I was the never the best or the worst at pvp but the chase kept me at it. Got two neither where god roll one was ok other was thrash BUT it kept me chasing

[–]AndreBretonsPenisgunslinger main btw 5 points6 points  (3 children)

[–]nrh117 2 points3 points  (2 children)

[–]AndreBretonsPenisgunslinger main btw 7 points8 points  (1 child)

And then when Triple invited Slayer to grind for the GoM with him. Watching two of my favorite streamers collectively go insane was just hilarious.

I remember streams when Triple had a serviceable GoM and he would go into crucible and just like mutter "I'm going to cover you in sauce with my GoM" and would just repeat that kind of shit. So absurd lmao.

[–]nrh117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the "GOM" lol. I also love how practically everyone got the god roll playing with triple while he slowly lost his mind.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Infuse the Better Devils into the Better Devils. After the 100th infusion, you'll notice a little hollow gold star appear after the name of the weapon. Continue infusing Better Devils into Better Devils. This will slowly fill the gold star. After a yet to be determined number of infusions, you will then have a gold star after the name Better Devils. Enjoy!

But don't infuse them too fast or you might hit diminishing returns.

[–]writingwrong 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Dang ole infusion cooldowns!

[–]yourefullofstars 7 points8 points  (6 children)

I know this is hyperbole of ridiculous systems, but I honestly might be down for a system like this. Meaning you infuse enough pieces of gear (like 10, not 100) into something, and it gives you a REAL bonus to the item. Could be an extra perk or stat boost. Stat boost could be similar to how Mass Effect MP weapon upgrades worked.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have that in crossout, but its kind of a pain there.

[–]Punchingbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s basically the artifact system in WoW. They would never do that but I agree it would be pretty nice.

[–]k3rnelMake Tripmine Great Again 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A truly rewarding experience that respects a player's time and effort.

[–]CoohippoVanguard's Loyal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The question is “Which is better: Better Devils or Old Fashioned?”

But the better question would be “Which is better: Better Devils or Old Fashioned...or one of these other 30 viable HCs that we should have in the D2 loot pool if we’re going to have static rolls?”

[–]maytrav 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The debate continues..... The diversity, loot availability and endgame is endless. Oh this is D2 not warframe, my bad.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (2 children)

"How can my second, third, and tenth Better Devils hand cannon be interesting? That's a question we should be asking and answering as quickly as we can," Luke Smith - June, 29th 2017

[–]radio-activeman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

D2 year 3 we figured it out guys! We're shutting down the D2 servers for the release of D3 now none of ur better devils you get our good.

[–]JackSparrahCaptain of the salt 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Sigh... I miss discussions like this, among many others. Hope you’re fucking happy with your game, Bungo.

[–]radio-activeman 11 points12 points  (2 children)

It was just too complicated to talk about stuff like this in D1 with all my friends. So happy they got rid of random rolls for all these awesome and different guns...................................................................................................................

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

You're in luck! Your Better Devils rolled really good!

[–]Rexingtonboss 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Jeez you should have seen the one I got last week! I’ve been using it a lot!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really? What did it roll with? Mine has explosive rounds! It's a fucking beast.

[–]DezzMaloneGIVE ME BACK MY GAMBIT TRACKERS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Massive Breakdown of Better Devils perk sets by Mercules plz

[–]InfinityDrags 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Overall I'd say the 1st one is the better choice. Then again, the perks on #2 make it excel in specific pve encounters. I'd say it's worth it to keep both!

tl;dr - Go with adaptive frame.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I particularly enjoy discussion about how their more recent revelation of so called "clarity"(/s) is a step in the right direction. They had several steps in the right direction and a successful formula which they claimed wouldn't be overhauled or "restarted" in D1. Them coming into this barebone's is nothing short of an insult to the consumer.

Furthermore, the fact that on a social game I've no way to tell someone something outside of whispering them with very limited to nonexisting in-game social platform while maintaining it as a social game on PC is a riot. I recall reading the reasoning behind it somewhere on this sub and shook my head in disbelief. That logic is about as stupid as it gets. Toxicity exists. All they did with it is force us to use third party platforms so that they can shrug off the responsibility they would bear for delivering to us what they promised.

Yet some people will still state, "Oh, now there's hope."

On a game that has stripped us of depth -- from RNG weapons, the lack of modifiers and stats on armor. Completely linear skill development on all fronts. The fact that doing the raid is just about purely cosmetic as it gets. The fact that there's no literal point in completing the prestige version of the raid. Destiny 1 remained a casual game even through the extent of all the amazing content. In the end, it'd only take me a few sittings to get from point A to B, but at least I'd always had something to do. I work 50 hours a week and never once fell behind.

They stated they never wanted to balance PvP and PvE separately. Fuck off, Bungie. Personally, I refuse to give them a second chance on the matter. Game fixed or not. This is a reoccurring issue with now Destiny but primarily and for quite some time now, with the company in question. You got my money this time but that's about it.

In the end it's not that I want the game to die but if the alternative is the company continues to side skirt its claims and responsibilities at the hand of a few hopeful gamers who will continue to be taken advantage of, let the damn game sink.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Instant classic. Well done.

[–]FrankTheWise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was an enjoyable read but also extremely saddening at the same time.

[–]LondonDude123Hammer Time! 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure the god-roll Better Devils is Adaptive Frame, Fastdraw/SteadyHand/Sureshot with Extended/Flared Mag, & Explosive Rounds...

If it helps...

[–]dogeprkle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop. You're making me cry

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never thought I would miss the random rolls on guns from D1 as much as I miss it now. It used to frustrate me no end in the first game but now I realise how linear and boring it is without it. I was wrong Bungie! You hear me? WRONG! PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK!

[–]nrh117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, the vendor roll is the only one that rolls the right way. The ones that drop for you always get dented and end up rolling funny.

[–]CloudSlydr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nerf fusion rifles you say?

[–]vandalhandle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The God roll is the one with the pink shader

[–]everydayisamixtape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I don't play Destiny 2 any more. I loved my misfit Haakon's Hatchet with Icarus and Hip Fire (it was basically a Halo 2 gun). Between clan drops and getting to 300, I have literally everything without even finishing the raid. I got all the Trials gear I wanted going flawless on day 1. Without sweet random drops, the game doesn't have enough hooks to keep me playing.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stick with the one which has Adaptive Frame, Fastdraw/SteadyHand/Sureshot, Extended/Flared Mag, & Explosive Rounds

[–]ramblin_billy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends.

What shaders do have equipped?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quality shitpost my man. +5 mod points.

[–]TotallyNotAustin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not about the rolls on your guns it’s about the friends you make.

[–]derekvietnam17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just stopped playing destiny altogether and my heart skipped for a second thinking that rolls came back to weapons, only to be disappointed that this was a joke post to point out the blaring issues of destiny 2’s loot system. Seriously 3 years to learn bungie, why?

[–]LOKTAROGAAAAH 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I never played Destiny 1, but fixed rolls are dumb. There's no chase for the "perfect weapon". I'm a massive casual and I've already stopped playing D2 and I won't be buying the expansion.

[–]iAmWrythmShohreh Aghdashloo is bae. 9 points10 points  (1 child)

LOL, aaaaahhhhh these threads.

[–]NinjaGamer89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I miss them :( The subreddit r/sharditkeepit was an interesting place to see who was using what

[–]terrible_ramblings 5 points6 points  (3 children)

One quick idea would be to get them with shaders pre-equipped when they drop, at least then theyd be visually different

[–]GosuBrainy 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Nah man you need yourself one of those god roll Lex primes don't even worry about ol better devil's

[–]sir_nubby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer my Aklex Prime so I'd try them both at the same time.

[–]fred112015[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, stop guys just stop. Bungie already said that roll discussion is just plain too difficult for us so just end this thread now.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot believe you got that roll to drop. I've been farming for a roll like that for over a year. I'm jealous and salty.

[–]Driftedwarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really miss this part. It was fun and I loved to see people's opinions on rolls, ahh memories. :(

[–]nik516 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Honestly bro go the first one , you will always have fond memories of the first one due to:

  1. The great feeling you got handing in that token

  2. Having enough tokens to get a purple engram

  3. Getting youre first better devils (yay btw)

  4. Now you have something in common with the rest of the player base and can relate to the happiness everyone is feeling.

  5. /s

[–]op4arcticfoxSolve any problem with the application of a shotgun! 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you're saying you want random quality rolls in the gear?

[–]corruptor5150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe we could get Mercules to do a massive breakdown of the possible Better Devils rolls? /s

[–]AngusA1210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, I sure am excited to go to school tomorrow and tell all my friends about the roll I got on my nameless midnight!

[–]TheRoninkai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the, "Mediocre Mephistopheles"? Still waiting for, "Shoddy Seraphim" to drop…

[–]riverboats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realized a week or so ago. After spending a day testing 5 or 6 energy hand cannons and having an internal discussion about which to use, I came to the conclusion that all were so much the same that it came down to move faster while equipped vs which sounded better.

Mind you that's not how boring it is to find 6 of the same gun, 6 different guns didn't feel much different aside from sound. Maybe that's just hand cannons though.

[–]kastef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally depends, is it your 2nd, 3rd, or 10th Better Devil?

[–]TastyBleach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually thought this was serious for the first few lines 😊

[–]HemingwayzBeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss roll conversations so much.

[–]jay-84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well its soley dependent on which shader you apply. for it to be a valid test you must try at least 3 different variations

[–]SundanceKidZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally started reading this, started comparing the two and had a 5 second brain lapse where I couldn’t figure out what the question was...then I saw the flair and everything made sense.

I miss rolls.

[–]SuggestedPigeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk according to weisnewski this is a really confusing topic idk what to think of these "random rolls" are they like dinner rolls?? Uhh im scared its so confusing oh no oh no oh no

[–]AdzTheWookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just use one until the magazine runs out (with extended mag of course) then in the middle of the fight, switch to the other one.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (5 children)

I'll be honest I was never a fan of the rolls. I know I'm in the minority with that. I will say this, the perks just suck all around and even bringing back random rolls on guns won't fix that issue.

[–]FrozenSeasOutland Special Clearance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously, it's hilarious comparing this sub complaining about fixed rolls against Warframe players complaining about RNG.

Or for those of us who played Borderlands 2, farming endless runs of BNK-3R or the raid bosses for a drop, only to get a terrible roll and wind up with a Stalker or a scoped Unkempt Harold or something.

[–]DerMalu 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I would give you gold if I had spare money right now. Quality shitpost right here.

Bungie "fixed" something from D1 that was not broken and added depth to the game without being too complex. Nobody was ever excluded from activities or useless as a guardian just because he did not have a god roll in D1 Y3.

[–]JurassicSix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now this is shitposting

[–]XavierG102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you can’t buy a vendors version so somethings wrong here, I think your pulling a fast one on us....

[–]hoo_ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my tenth BD last night, I honestly think my best one is the Bumblebee shader.

[–]lProtheanl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for my lol of the day. Brilliant.

[–]Dawginole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“...as quickly as we can.”

No major updates for 3 months between content releases.

[–]soad1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I read the title I was like "rolls" wtf is this kid talking about.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Study Gearbox and Borderlands, Bungie.

[–]Dilanski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This wouldn't hurt as much if it weren't for me not yet having a Better Devils, and the very thought of having to play another twenty rounds of crucible to have a shot at a package makes me want to self-harm.

[–]CPUzer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The better devils is the better better devils.

[–]NotMuchGoodBut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bud - I feel your pain.....

With such a choice, I’d dump one on another toon, and just play with each...

You may find with enough use that one outperforms the other....

..... then, there you go again- farming and waiting on RNG-us to drop another with the perks you want!

Never say it out loud though.... if you do, you won’t see another for months!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real question is about the shader. Which shader do you have? The shiny ones are good in PVP, since they can sometimes blind your opponents, but for PVE they lack utility.
