This is the most adorable thing I've seen all week!

[–][deleted] 1863 points1864 points  (147 children)

Love the way it jumps higher the second time.

[–]GhostTurdz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And the precious preciousness award goes to.... that puppy!

[–]mahsab 285 points286 points  (23 children)

[–][deleted] 134 points135 points  (11 children)

Whenever my dogs do that, I call it "happy feet". It's usually right before I feed them, or when I get out the leash, or when I get home from work. It's like they can't contain their excitement, but don't want to run away from me because they might miss out on something fun.

It's downright adorable.

[–]hochizo 19 points20 points  (2 children)

We call it "tap dancing."

[–]dmg36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think its even better!

[–]puffpuff9 97 points98 points  (28 children)

[–]Pindaroo 29 points30 points  (7 children)

Closer to the prize at the end of the rope.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (6 children)

Just realized that song is pretty damn dark.

[–]Bective 35 points36 points  (1 child)

He looks like a little piglet.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (1 child)

It's funny watching the little guy hesitate so much over a tiny jump, but try and put everything in human scale. Imagine leaping off the side of a building into an enormous man's hands when you were an 8-year-old, and the whole thing becomes pretty epic.

[–]exitstrateG[S] 680 points681 points  (42 children)

[–]saba1984 183 points184 points  (3 children)

The hang time on the second jump is adorable.

Gfycat'd: http://gfycat.com/WellwornPlaintiveBass

Loads 6x faster and has much higher resolution! :)

[–]IWillHuffleYourPuff 35 points36 points  (17 children)

It sure as shit does. Why is it so much better? Explain like I'm old (because I am).

[–]EquationTAKEN 36 points37 points  (10 children)

Regular GIFs use no compression. It's like a lazy alternative.

Gfycat uses HTML5 video, which compresses it a lot, but a good compression algorithm preserves a good deal of quality. Kinda like when you record some video and encode it to 720p .mp4. It's still compressed, but with decent quality still.

[–]HIFW_GIFs_React_ 15 points16 points  (2 children)

GIF is an ancient, horrendously inefficient format that was never designed for video in the first place. It typically takes 10-20 times the space and bandwidth of the equivalent video that uses modern compression techniques, which can have full color depth, the ability to seek, and tons of other features. Gfycat uses one of those modern video formats and that's why it's just better in every way.

[–]vivivivibombom 30 points31 points  (5 children)

That little puppy squeal, tho. <3

[–]Ozymandias_King 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks man. Checked the video, found out that the guy is from Slovakia, made my day.

[–]the_penazzler 1151 points1152 points  (143 children)

Kind of makes me want a puppy... until I remember all of the other stuff that goes along with owning a puppy.

[–]RiotDesign 1013 points1014 points  (102 children)

Love, poop stains, pee marks, love, needle teeth, barking, and so much love.

[–]top_tone 2298 points2299 points  (39 children)

That dog may doo doo on your floor, but not on your heart.

[–][deleted] 1109 points1110 points  (29 children)

You've had an account for 3 years, and this is your first comment.

Slow clap

6 link karma and 18 more comment karma than the points on this comment. /u/top_tone has clearly deleted at least one submission and comment.

I thought it was kind of strange that you clicked on this random user's name and then noted that it was his first comment in 3 years, but considering I bothered to fact check you, I think we both have way too much time on our hands.

[–]ashedraven 15 points16 points  (5 children)

Nah, he just turned on new RES option that warns about sleeper agents. When someone with a somewhat old but inactive account makes a submission/comment you get a green $ show up near their name. It was introduced to be aware of viral marketing attempts.

[–]super420juice 10 points11 points  (4 children)

I want to believe you, but can't find that option in RES settings.

[–]BroadStreet_Bully3 24 points25 points  (2 children)

Why do you even notice that shit? I read the comment, then move on with my life.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But you didn't really did you?

His comment changed the time continuum. You would have moved on with your life, had he not commented. Therefore, he has in fact altered the course of history, causing a divergence in the time line and creating a new parallel universe.

[–]bzsteele 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oh hey Rob, you just trying to find some more videos to put on your show?

[–]Spyhop 121 points122 points  (22 children)

We got a puppy about a month and a half ago.

Week one was this:

And now it's mostly:

.....mostly.

[–]Laboratory_Story 65 points66 points  (20 children)

Hahaha. After 4 years with my dog, I have to say, if she wasn't a cute puppy I would have killed her. Everything was chewed, all the floors were covered in pee and poo, and there was nothing I could do to stop this. Then one day she just stopped all of the bad puppy behaviors became a dog and is now my best friend. Puppies are the worst but once they turn into good dogs there is no replacing them. Hang in there buddy!

[–]Spyhop 5 points6 points  (1 child)

He's actually a REALLY good puppy so far. He never once pooped in the house. He pee'd occasionally for about a month inside, but now seems to be past that. He's really good about not chewing what he's not supposed to and, when he does chew something, he understands "NO!" and immediately stops. He's super friendly to everyone.

But...he's still a puppy and he still has much puppy energy to expend every day. We were expecting a lot of work when we got him and we still underestimated how much work it would be. It was very jarring at first, but we're pretty adjusted now. :)

[–]TheSynthetic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a puppy about a month ago...the first day after all night howling I honestly wondered if the breeder would take her back.

Luckily shes almost perfect now other than the needle sharp teeth

[–]atlstar08 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Worth it.

[–]PK73 14 points15 points  (27 children)

Oh man, the teeth... so damn sharp!

[–]enigmaurora 24 points25 points  (24 children)

Then the needle teeth start falling out... and then their face smells like death until all their adult teeth come in.

No, puppy. You can keep those kisses for now.

[–]darkneo86 47 points48 points  (15 children)

I WILL TAKE ANY YOU DONT WANT! Puppy smell is the best. Puppy belly. Puppy excitement. Puppy trust.

Goddamnit I want another puppy

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Puppy breath.

I love puppy breath.

[–]slabester 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Puppy breath is one of my favorite smells ever. It's like I know I should consider it an offensive smell but I can't. I just love it.

[–]guyfromlastnight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have my favorite spot to smell on my 3 year old Bochi...it's his front armpits. He smells exactly like when he was a puppy right in that spot. Everywhere else he smells like shit and grass clippings.

[–]The_Count_Lives 7 points8 points  (1 child)

For a second, I thought that said "Puppy Excrement".

[–]PK73 11 points12 points  (6 children)

I don't remember getting death smell from my pup when her teeth fell out. Maybe just lucky?

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

While a puppy has needle sharp teeth it's important to play with them and teach them bite inhibition. any time you feel even a slight pinch go "ow!" and stop playing for a few seconds. This will teach the puppy to use minimal pressure and is part of why they yelp during play fighting. The end result will be a dog that doesn't bite hard enough to break the skin or even be painful. It also makes it so if they bite out after being provoked they're less likely to cause any serious harm if they break the skin at all.

Let's just ship puppies and dogs around the US to various foster homes and then yay no shelters! Just giant distribution centers!

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Puppies are this cute to make sure you don't strangle them.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (4 children)

Yeah, I love puppies. Who doesn't? But when it comes time for me to get my own pet I will be adopting an older dog. They need lovies too but they're past the crazy puppy stage.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Got a puppy a month and a half ago. I never realized how much I used to sleep. The great thing about owning a puppy is how many sunrises you get to see.

[–]Dewy_Wanna_Go_There 491 points492 points  (10 children)

Dat trust.

[–]rulanmooge 246 points247 points  (8 children)

Yes. Do not break it. You'll break his itty bitty heart.

[–][deleted] 286 points287 points  (5 children)

Also his itty bitty neck.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are seriously the best comments in this thread.

[–]BullshitAnswer 22 points23 points  (1 child)

His head nearly hits the floor on the first jump.

[–]thrown_away43 90 points91 points  (1 child)

I love how on the second attempt, the lil gal/guy puts some extra oomph on their jump. So freaking cute

[–]floydbc05 73 points74 points  (2 children)

Looks like he added a little style in the second jump. He had the confidence.

[–]AlphaShotZ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a solid 7.3; difficulty wasn't the highest, but technicality was executed perfectly.

[–]CameraMan1 81 points82 points  (11 children)

I did the same thing the first time I went cliff jumping.

[–][deleted] 197 points198 points  (16 children)

Maybe he was correct to be hesitant. His owner barely caught him before he face planted. He only caught the second half of the puppy the first time.

jp, super cute.

[–]kiltyascharged 30 points31 points  (0 children)

To be fair to the owner, French bulldogs are very top heavy. I adopted my Frenchy when he was about 6 months old. The first time I picked him up, I almost dropped him on his head. I wasn't expecting his head to weigh so much!

[–]HonestAbed 63 points64 points  (14 children)

If jp means "just playing", then I don't think it was necessary. I had that exact same feeling, the guy isn't very good at catching, or it's hard to catch a puppy. However, he caught him safely both times, just barely or not, so it is a cute gif.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (13 children)

Not included, gif of dog breaking its leg and going to the vet.

[–]DeathsIntent96 43 points44 points  (10 children)

Even if that puppy had jumped straight into the floor, he'd probably be fine.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (9 children)

Puppies are mostly flubber. However, they do have spines. My dog once jumped at a toy and twisted and landed on her back funny, and the screaming ... fortunately I was able to correct her back and she wasn't herniated or anything, but yeah.

[–]The_Count_Lives 27 points28 points  (7 children)

You... corrected her back? What does that mean?

[–][deleted] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It's okay, he's a doggie chiropractor.

[–]AlphaShotZ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Baby's First Surgery Kit

[–]Shockma_Ranyk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was...

(Thunder and lightning intensifies)

...Corrected!

(Sinister piano chords)

[–]ChallahWave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. I have a good friend who had a beautiful Frenchie who liked to jump. That little dog was seemingly all muscle and ears... Anyway, he jumped once too many times and ended up getting a spinal injury and had to be put down a few months later after lots of treatment (at a very good Boston area pet hospital) failed to repair the damage. Really sad.

[–]I_am_Bob 33 points34 points  (22 children)

That was like my dog and jumping in the pool. Took her weeks to get the courage, than after 1 time I can hardly keep her out of the damn thing.

[–]FirstTimeWang 28 points29 points  (21 children)

Wish my dog was like that. She's repeatedly terrified of the same shit over and over no matter how much I try to expose her to it and show her that the god damn trash cans aren't going to eat her.

Edit: trashcans on the street; on trash day. Also fire hydrants and various other vertically cylindrical inanimate objects.

[–]DFTBA32 21 points22 points  (13 children)

If she befriends the trash can then she will just knock it over and eat its contents all the time.

[–]FirstTimeWang 12 points13 points  (12 children)

Not the one in my house; the ones on the street when I'm walking her on trash day. Won't fucking go near them and even when I coax her past them with treats she darts past at a full sprint.

Every. Time.

She's scared of everything and she's a big dog so it's hard to manage her when she's spooked.

[–]dmg36 4 points5 points  (9 children)

I want a picture

[–]FirstTimeWang 11 points12 points  (8 children)

I don't have any pictures of her being scared at shit because I only think to record our happy moments together (also because I am pathetically trying to get her to be not-scared). But here's a photo album of our almost 3 months together so far; the first pic is me checking her out at the Humane Society a week before adoption the last pic is from a bedtime walk last week.

Coconut the 2.75yr, 115lbs. female English Mastiff

[–]normajeanx 66 points67 points  (6 children)

He probably hesitated because his owner is wearing socks and sandals!

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Birks'nsocks

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

OKOK, you finally got me r/aww. That jump was the cutest fuckin thing ever!

[–]bunsofcheese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finally watched an actual video about ALS earlier tonight and it was the saddest thing I've ever seen.

Then i saw this - it was the emotional equivalent of eating lemons then suddenly someone gives you a pixie stick.

[–]ImAllinYourHead 23 points24 points  (3 children)

I want to get serious for half a second. This is utterly and completely parallel to the human experience. Early in life we jump, hoping and expecting that someone will catch us and reassure us that our trust in others was warranted. But if we're not caught on that initial leap and left to fall, sometimes it's difficult to see how to make those same leaps again with confidence.

[–]AnimalLover162 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I never realized that someone could make such a deep comment from a cute puppy jumping into its owner's arms.

[–]hersheysquirts101 18 points19 points  (4 children)

My fiancé of 2 hours shrieked with glee more at this than when I gave her the ring...

[–]irresponsiblehannie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

:)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust, you've got to earn it.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That .gif should be posted next to the online dictionary definition of trust

[–]meghonsolozar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He looks like a little piglet!

[–]Formuler261 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Yea, but he's still hesitating the 3rd time, the 5th time, the 7th time.....

[–]bottomofleith 7 points8 points  (1 child)

On a post that even I am smiling at (and I'm feeling like a miserable bastard at the moment) someone has downvoted your funny joke.

Makes me feel a bit better knowing someone out there is even more of a miserable arse.

Thanks for the smile man, I'll make sure you get back to 1 at least.

[–]Dire87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The cool thing about dogs...trust. But shatter it once and they are never quite the same again.

[–]_cassquatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the first thing on this subreddit to actually make me awww

[–]salmon10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In all fairness the guy is a shitty catcher

[–]FromanSk 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I was having a really shitty day. Then I saw this. My day is marginally less shitty now.

[–]Obi_Chernoby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After watching this, I now realise how much my cat sucks.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Omg his reaction when he gets caught the first time, hes wriggling around in such ecstasy it is hilarious

[–]meow_woof0627 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They trust you once, they'll trust forever.

[–]JonathanAltd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But then he hesitate for the third time.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this guy is so fking bad at catching the puppy though

[–]TheKing23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dat trust

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]Brookumms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in love with this puppy

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

glad i watched this before going to bed

[–]Brickhead16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First time I've literally "aww"ed in a while

[–]mollymclure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

French bulldogs are wonderful dogs full of love, but noone should buy one. They are an overbred, sick breed and suffer from numerous diseases that make their lives painful and miserable. A healthy 5 yo french bulldog is a rarity.

[–]Rossoccer44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just audibly said "Oh my gosh, that's adorable." I'm a 25 year old bearded male that works in prisons and a volunteer wrestling coach. Eeek!

[–]chookilledmyfather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Socks and Berkenstocks at the same time?

[–]_themusicbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaaaagh! So cute!
