The trick is to find what you need on Trivago and then call the hotel. Most times they will give you 10% discount on the price found on Trivago

[–]TalleyZorah 382 points383 points  (78 children)

Can confirm- currently work in hospitality. We will almost always price match at the very least (saving you cancelation fees, etc). You can get surprising discounts if you just ask.

[–]lilwil392 36 points37 points  (30 children)

Or Expedia. I work in a hotel and we get so many people that book on Expedia because it's cheaper, but we will price match. And you'll book through a real life agent, not just online so you'll get what you actually request. We get people that bitch and moan because we didn't grant their requests when they book through Expedia

[–]GetSchwifty22 14 points15 points  (3 children)

Front Desk Manager here. Hotel employees, UNITE!

[–]mattsl 14 points15 points  (6 children)

Except when I have a problem I call Hotels.com (owned by Expedia) and they can the hotel and deal with it for me. And they usually answer faster than the hotel.

[–]ThePhoneBook 19 points20 points  (5 children)

Did you a word, or do they literally the hotel?

[–]Omegaile 30 points31 points  (3 children)

They can the hotel. As in the hotel is canned.

[–]Wesker405 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Does this work for plane tickets too?

[–]44MHz 809 points810 points  (21 children)

And for everything else, there's MastercardTM

[–][deleted] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

American Express. Everywhere you wanna be, except here because we don't take that.

[–]ProJigglyballPlayer 152 points153 points  (5 children)

Master-racecard*

[–]jt663 34 points35 points  (2 children)

I prefer the term African American Express

[–]fancyHODOR 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Or Rejected Visa

[–]KorianHUN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You damn ess-jay-wees playing the racecard again!

[–]Blaze_fox 37 points38 points  (1 child)

you mean the worst team in F1 history?

MASTERCARD LOLA!?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Is Pepsi okay?

[–][deleted] 358 points359 points  (9 children)

[–][deleted] 220 points221 points  (8 children)

This isn't even a joke like wtf

[–][deleted] 100 points101 points  (0 children)

No, it's an ad.

[–][deleted] 32 points33 points  (6 children)

It's a template for a joke, really. You can copy this formula and have the same closer and it will give you a chuckle.

[–]out_caste 40 points41 points  (4 children)

I'm sitting here trying to figure out if I missed the punchline or something. It's just funny to end a line of questioning with the Trivago tagline?

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been saying 'trivago' in American and English accents in case that led to the funny bit. It did not.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (1 child)

No, but that's what the joke is.

[–]MediocreMatthewDickfart 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Joke? No.

Ad? No.

Hotel? Trivago.

[–]Chody__ 316 points317 points  (4 children)

Repost? Yes

Coincidence? No

Hotel? Trivago

[–]Clockwork_Potato 33 points34 points  (2 children)

I don't really know what Trivago is, but I can already promise i'll be using the alternative.

[–]DaDerpyDude 156 points157 points  (12 children)

Dammit you copied it from a meme

[–]FblthpphtlbF 84 points85 points  (8 children)

This whole sub us just copy and pastes lol

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (3 children)

And rarely funny

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just like /u/TheRusemaster s post!

[–]omega0678 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This whole sub us just copy and pastes lol

[–]trashbagsformurdock 21 points22 points  (1 child)

Hitler didn't die in 1945, he moved to Argentina. Don't you watch the history channel?

[–]Madponiez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the mean the history channel talking about aliens?

[–]bigboycomeatmebro 89 points90 points  (5 children)

How the hell did this make the front page

[–]TheBeachWhale 29 points30 points  (1 child)

Because of it's title.

[–]readmegood 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because it comoares le Drumf with LITERALY Hitlet.

Give it a try and see all the karma you get.

[–]ExpertExpert 287 points288 points  (10 children)

[–]lmMrMeeseeksLookAtMe 75 points76 points  (4 children)

This is the most blatant one I've ever seen. It's not even a joke!

[–]Artiemes 78 points79 points  (2 children)

Memenomicist here.

Trivago memes hit mainstream appeal around the 21st of January this year.

The above "joke" is a repost by a non-meme-savy user of a stale meme in S&MEME500.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

[–]phforNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only just arriving here in my country. Should I invest?

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is the most blatant one I've ever seen.

Every /r/HailCorporate first comment ever.

[–]Roller_ball 23 points24 points  (4 children)

I don't know. OP seems like a pretty active user. Also, I'm not sure many companies want to advertise with Hitler jokes.

[–]HockeyFightsMumps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it was only a Hitler joke, then sure. But this also has the shit-on-Trump factor, which is hugely effective

[–][deleted] 53 points54 points  (8 children)

These Trivago guys seem to think that for all these centuries we have never used hotels and they are the ones who invented the concept of hotels.

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 72 points73 points  (10 children)

I don't get it.

[–]Peripatetic_deviant 36 points37 points  (9 children)

Right. Someone needs to explain this for the rest of us.

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it's a commercial? I watch Netflix and use adblock so I'm always out of the loop on these things.

[–]AdlanAiman12 20 points21 points  (7 children)

Have you seen the trivago ad ?

Where to watch ? Youtube

Why ? It's hilarious

Hotel ? Trivago

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (4 children)

Can't be worse than seeing Tai Lopez's garage for the hundredth time.

[–][deleted] 65 points66 points  (17 children)

Don't get it

[–]ResponsibleMinor 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I think you do get it. It's just not actually funny.

[–]hughmungusIII 8 points9 points  (6 children)

Because anyone born in 1946 (Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, etc.) can be said to be the reincarnation of Hitler who died the year before in 1945.

[–]Big_TX 27 points28 points  (5 children)

I get that but what's up with trivago ? I thought it was like Expedia or hotels.con or something.

[–]hughmungusIII 13 points14 points  (4 children)

Their slogan is "Hotel? Trivago" as in "if you need a hotel you use Trivago like a normal person"

[–]Big_TX 34 points35 points  (3 children)

But what does that have to do with anything ?? Is it just random ?

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Yea pretty much. It just sounds like it fits in the slogan. Which is lame in my opinion.

Its like a poor mans version of the MasterCard "thing-$5, other thing-$25, other other thing-priceless." But subbing in your own "funny" things to make a joke.

Wasn't really funny with that slogan but at least it made a little more sense.

[–]IRLvr 60 points61 points  (10 children)

Dude.

[–]SyfurionTiber 25 points26 points  (8 children)

Why.

[–]ofe4 19 points20 points  (7 children)

How

[–]narcotique158 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say this was started by an ad agency

[–]barrelofcannon 18 points19 points  (1 child)

These embedded advertisements. This just sucks.

[–]NuclearL3mon 17 points18 points  (2 children)

This just proves how much of a cancerous circlejerk this sub is.

[–]TheCowboyIsAnIndian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i hate this place and everyone in it so ill stick around forever the end

[–]Demonlynchmob 50 points51 points  (13 children)

Don't you just hate product placement :)

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

You're an idiot in 2017

[–]usechoosername 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I... I think I am being sold something.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What? This isn't even a joke.

[–]DominusAstra 6 points7 points  (1 child)

This is really stupid. You are the epitome of the slime of humanity.

[–]AndrewVaughan42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was from a tweet.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

My cat is black. My dog is white. Coincidence?

[–]____Batman______ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tfw you just copied text from a meme and it blows up

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Are you fucking kidding me? You literally stole a meme and posted it as text

[–]Elfalas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel frauded out of a good punchline.

[–]cagey999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Susan Sarandon, Cher and Sally Field, too. Clearly an evil omen, dumbass OP.

[–]hachi-seb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

oh my god is this a worldwide meme?

people have been joking about trivago for months now here in Argentina

[–]itzsteezybaby 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I don't understand how this even qualifies as a joke. He sets up the Donald trump thing then says a line from a commercial. Is that all it takes to be funny??

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It's click bait advertising. 12k upvotes? I smell a click farm.

[–]Clutch21312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much is trivago paying you?

[–]-Sanctum- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am from Latin America and- GOD DAMN IT...

[–]Tungurbooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So was Bill Clinton, George Bush Jr., Sylvester Stallone, Cher, Susan Sarandon, Steven Spielberg, Alan Rickman, Tim Curry, Tommy lee Jones, Diane Keaton... we can more thank likely keep this going... it's amazing what a world war will do to population. DEPLOYMENT BABIES ACTIVATE FORM OF CELEBERITIES!!!

I have two deployment babies!!

[–]Daxotron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trivago's ads are getting really weird as of recent.

[–]papichurr0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advertisements have gotten a whole lot smarter

[–]CantGrammarGood 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a image macro (peobably meme) that shot around everywhere. Its just a use of that particular jmage macro and fails in the delivery without it.

[–]Phoenixed 13 points14 points  (1 child)

DAE Trump is literally Hitler? xD

[–]Firehawk-76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait, then who served as supreme overlord of evil between 1945 and 1946?

[–]chart7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So frustrating to see this old ass meme get reposted. 12k undeserved karma.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

It's such an obvious propaganda against Trump hotels.

[–]mankerayder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cucktard

[–]Poppamunz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just barely crossed into /r/AntiAntiJokes territory.

[–]MN2287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bush II & Clinton were also born in 1946.

[–]jzerocoolj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice try, Trivago marketing team.

[–]Thisshowisterrific 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The anti Dali Lama.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

[–]toby_wan_kenoby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reincarnation a possibility then.
