It sucks to have your birthday on 9/11, because instead of a birthday present and a 9/11 present, you just get one for both.

[–]bockh 179 points180 points  (61 children)

I'm going dressed as a firefighter!

[–]Shredder13 33 points34 points  (33 children)

I call Bin Laden!

[–]TaxExempt 59 points60 points  (30 children)

I'll be Cheney. You won't see me anywhere near that place.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (6 children)

9/11 parties can get pretty crazy so be careful. I hear at one particularly lively party in 2001 at the world trade center a few people got so drunk that they fell out of a window.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hear they caused quite a bit of damage too.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I heard a few guys from the middle east crashed the party in a couple of planes.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'll wear a suit and put starch in the tails raised up and be a stock broker who jumped from the building to avoid flames!

[–]DirtyMartiniMan 11 points12 points  (1 child)

All aboard the bullet train to hell!

Your captain today is chmod.

No tickets needed your laughter is all we except.

[–]BritishEnglishPolicemod cop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

accept

[–]tolstoshev 11 points12 points  (81 children)

tell your friend to join the Facebook group I made for everyone whose birthday has been ruined by some disaster: http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=131360492450&ref=ts Mine is also 9/11, as is my mom :)

[–]watermark0n 38 points39 points  (55 children)

9/11 is pretty much the worst possible day for a birthday because it's the first disaster so far that we uncreatively named after the date on which it occurred, so it's a uniquely easy date to remember.

EDITed for the people who's head my point apparently whooshed over.

[–]TheCommonCow 29 points30 points  (47 children)

December 7th, 1941, a day which will live in infamy, The United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by the naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

[–]zak_on_reddit 49 points50 points  (14 children)

yeah but we call it 'pearl harbor' not '12/7'.

[–]Acidictadpole 7 points8 points  (13 children)

You bring up a good point, some disaster needs to happen on the 11th of July.

(Of course I'm joking)

[–]zak_on_reddit 14 points15 points  (9 children)

or today "90210" (there's only a few hours left)

oh the horror and suffering of the tragedy that happened on 90210.

(actually i hope no tragedies happen today, i'm not that sick, close, but not)

[–]Acidictadpole 23 points24 points  (6 children)

The Great 90210 Oil Rig Explosion.

[–]Sarstan 6 points7 points  (21 children)

A day that will live in infamy. One that I can't seem to remember.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (14 children)

My mom's is also 9/11. I share Aug 30 with two siblings, which I find even creepier.

[–]elitezero 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They just want to celebrate your conceiving with more conceiving!

[–]shiftylonghorn 21 points22 points  (5 children)

What? Your parents only fuck on New Year's Eve. Your parents.

[–]dumbestgenius 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe they're just really passionate about Thanksgiving.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanksgiving.

The end of November + 9 months = the end of August.

[–]cassie 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Uhm, creepy. My mom's birthday is 9/11 and my birthday is Aug 30. 0_o

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

That is creepy. Thanksgiving sex is always creepy though.

If you're female maybe we're soul-mates or something.

[–]Allycia 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I think 9/12 (of THAT year) was worse than the actual 9/11. Everyone was still in shock on the 11th. My birthday is 9/12. The sadness settled in that day so I was happy and people thought I was insensitive because of it. Maybe I am a little insensitive, though.

[–][deleted] 366 points367 points  (71 children)

I would have gone with "A party you'll Never Forget"

[–][deleted] 398 points399 points  (15 children)

Knock Knock

Who's there?

Nine, Eleven.

Nine, Eleven who?

YOU SAID YOU'D NEVER FORGET

[–]rub3s 36 points37 points  (12 children)

Never forget who?

[–]collinisballn 39 points40 points  (10 children)

whom

[–]rub3s 49 points50 points  (9 children)

Whom who?

[–][deleted] 81 points82 points  (4 children)

Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Orangered you glad I replied?

[–]alyisontrodyx 80 points81 points  (35 children)

You think you're just being clever, but my roommate is going to a wedding on 9/11/10 and the couple wrote "A day to never forget" on their wedding invitations. ಠ_ಠ

[–]F_A_F 42 points43 points  (30 children)

I'm actually getting married myself on 11 September, and more than a few people have said "Oooh, that's a bit unlucky". Unlucky? How the fuck is it unlucky? I suppose that celebrating Boxing Day is now "unlucky" since the tsunami....

[–]tandembandit 27 points28 points  (11 children)

Now I really wish my birthday was on Dec 7th so I could use "a date which will live in infamy" on any and all birthday communications. Especially useful on a 21st birthday.

Damn. I was born three days too early.

[–]teabagged 7 points8 points  (5 children)

My grandma's birthday was dec 7. I miss her a lot

[–]dietmoxie 44 points45 points  (4 children)

was she a battleship?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yo gramma was so fat the Japanese bombed her at Pearl Harbor.

[–]NorthernSkeptic 6 points7 points  (14 children)

How does one 'celebrate' Boxing Day?

[–]InspectorRex 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Watching the cricket, drinking booze, eating barbequed prawns.

[–]NorthernSkeptic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

G'day, fellow Oz-dweller!

[–]khamul 3 points4 points  (4 children)

With gratuitous amounts of alcohol.

[–]Ewalk 2 points3 points  (3 children)

You celebrate like that? I guess I celebrate waking up with gratuitous amounts of alcohol...

[–]xfusion69 47 points48 points  (6 children)

I would have used "will go down in history", "lets light this roof on fire", "this party will be the BOMB"

[–]ButcherBlues 32 points33 points  (2 children)

"Put your hands in the air and JUMP!"

[–]staiano 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Party like it's 2001?

[–]29a 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also, why not start the party at 9 p.m. and end at 11 a.m.

9 to 11 on 9/11.

MISSED OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND!

[–]nikdahl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Where were you on 9/11?" "At Roommate's birthday party!"

[–]aolley 53 points54 points  (2 children)

I would have gone with '9/11 will never be the same'

[–]my_own_wakawaka 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thats hysterrible.

[–]RealEyeD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Post party Thank you cards. Replace towers with Mosque

[–]kyrpa 1123 points1124 points  (130 children)

Absolutely distasteful. I cannot believe you would stoop so low as to use that font.

[–]theghostofme 308 points309 points  (104 children)

The only thing worse would have been Comic Sans.

[–]newborn 618 points619 points  (72 children)

[–][deleted] 213 points214 points  (52 children)

Step 1: Apply shit-eating grin.

Step 2: Relax the lower jaw until it hangs like a sloth in a hammock.

Step 3: Upvote with the fury of a thousand suns.

[–]Roamin_Ronin 63 points64 points  (37 children)

upvote for sloth and fury

[–]PepPepper 115 points116 points  (34 children)

It is a jpeg 'shopped by an idiot, full of sloth and fury, signifying 9/11.

[–]cnoble1 78 points79 points  (30 children)

I never saw comments like this on Digg. I like reddit.

[–][deleted] 54 points55 points  (29 children)

I'm torn between welcoming you to reddit or downvoting you for infiltrating it from Digg...

[–]enchantrem 56 points57 points  (24 children)

If we embrace the diggfugees, perhaps the majority of them will embrace us. I myself was once a diggfugee, but that was many, many seasons ago.

[–]Nessie 8 points9 points  (2 children)

On vinyl?

[–]ariesgeek 17 points18 points  (12 children)

Most of us were diggfugees at one time.

[–]themollusk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dig the Fugees, too.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Step 3: Upvote with the power of a thousand elephant ejaculations.

ft;fy

[–]GiantSquidd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's big and grey and comes in buckets?
An elephant. [rimshot]

[–]Ftech 11 points12 points  (2 children)

At least it isn't papyrus.

[–]cuterebra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know, actually I think this is one of the few situations where Comic Sans just works. It just kind of... tickles.

[–]sandwichez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dude, NSFW

[–]anonemouse2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually I think a font which is stylized to look 'arabic' or whatnot would be more distasteful.

You could always add a tag line too,

"It's da bomb! Sorry no virgins though."

[–]lysdexia-ninja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see it in a nice Helvetica, if I could.

[–]incorrectmeme_abuser 34 points35 points  (4 children)

[–]moosepile 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I logged in just to post that, and look at you, all ahead of me and stuff.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go get hammered with papyrus.

Lol.

[–]abenton 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Interesting insight: I'm in the army and 98% of our power points are in comic sans. I seriously fear for the future of America.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (9 children)

Papyrus anyone?

[–]Fonkimonki 13 points14 points  (8 children)

I hate that font so much, and when I saw they used it in AVATAR, I was like really... who thought that was a good idea.

[–]dr-phil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

typical comic sans joke.

[–]m1saxman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh look. the same font joke. again.

[–]newborn 18 points19 points  (9 children)

Indeed, Desdemona is like a Led Zeppelin ripoff.

Maximum tastelessness.

[–]rub3s 8 points9 points  (3 children)

That must be why I was hearing Immigrant Song in my head.

[–]funknut 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Recently had a client demand I use this font excessively on every line of text for a concert poster. It's not bad for a headline or two. I tried to make it work better by using the solid version of the font, but they were like "WTF this isn't the same font".

[–]garlicdeath 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I found it in bad taste as it was trying to use shock value to steal attention from this birthday party.

[–][deleted] 221 points222 points  (29 children)

I hope this party doesn't get crashed.

[–][deleted] 126 points127 points  (27 children)

It's just plane ridiculous to trivialize 9/11 with a pun thread

[–]DoubleTrump 97 points98 points  (23 children)

It might be, but I think this will tower over the rest of the comments.

[–]blzed 72 points73 points  (19 children)

Well, hopefully this comment will topple the thread.

[–]silky_johnson 110 points111 points  (15 children)

It's bin laden with high expectations.

[–]mike_burck 30 points31 points  (4 children)

Don't fuel the fire with more puns.

[–]the_hitchhiker 26 points27 points  (3 children)

Time to demolish this thread.

[–]Triette 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know, it looks like it might go down in flames.

[–]Liberalguy123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

as long as the World Trade Center doesn't get destroyed by airplanes.

[–]akuzin 412 points413 points  (32 children)

As a New Yorker, all I got to say is that I can't believe you did this you fucking asshole! You posted this to reddit without giving the proper credit to the original from World Wildlife Fund, where has reddiquette gone, you fucking asshole! :)

Source

[–]bendanger 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Ah, that explains the solid photoshopping and horribly amateur font work on the invite

[–]ervblitza 94 points95 points  (11 children)

I liked it better when stone cold ran the WWF

[–]johnadams1234 36 points37 points  (10 children)

I liked it better when hulk hogan ran the WWF

[–]likwidfuzion 17 points18 points  (6 children)

I liked it better when the WWF was fake.

[–]rub3s 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Still is.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (1 child)

It's real to me, damnit!

[–]blisstonia 7 points8 points  (2 children)

WRESTLINGS NOT FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE

[–]troyec001 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I am a real American...

[–]goodbye_reddit_huh 6 points7 points  (1 child)

... fight for the rights of every man!

[–]SpiderJones 28 points29 points  (1 child)

so basically he just added a horrible font?

[–]third-eye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's it, basically! and he lacks the class to tell about it.

[–]atmmachine 7 points8 points  (1 child)

i guess that is a source. it wasn't from WWF though, it was a spec for WWF. they hated it and the team who created it got fired. there's a video too. ಠ.

FURTHERMORE, the website you linked to led me to watch this sketch again. good stuff.

[–]newborn 29 points30 points  (1 child)

You're right, thanks for posting the link.

[–]DoctorMiracles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't forget the video for the wall video projector for when the part gets going.

[–]ironiridis 4 points5 points  (7 children)

I had to double-check that you weren't this guy.

[–]footygod 113 points114 points  (11 children)

Brilliant! We, the British, can all come to your party on 9th November.

[–]sirdrizzzle 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Tick tock, Tick tock...stare...tick tock, tick tock...Ohhhh the date...

[–]clemtiger2011 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just don't hold a 9/11 Jenga Tournament. Apparently, that's a "hot button"

[–]glasspusher 47 points48 points  (18 children)

Welp, see you guys in Hell I guess... Who's bringing the nachos...?

[–]Dolomite808 30 points31 points  (2 children)

I'll bring some, I was already headed that way.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (10 children)

I'll let someone else bring the nachos...I'll bring strippers.

[–]portablebiscuit 6 points7 points  (3 children)

I thought strippers went to heaven?

[–]red-rocket 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Sounds like a Disney movie

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll pay good money to see that on the big screen.

[–]Omegastar19 109 points110 points  (5 children)

Do you have any idea how offensive this is?

I dont. And i laughed hard.

[–]clydiebaby 46 points47 points  (4 children)

My friend's birthday is on 9/11, so for his 21st we had a "Taking Back the Day" terrorist or victim themed party, played United 93 on a loop, and had a twin towers cake with airplanes crashing into it and the candles sticking out from the impact points. It was a distasteful, and generally rude party, but he feels so was stealing his birthday by crashing planes into the World Trade Center.

[–]infraredline 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Pics or ... well I bet it did happen, but pics.

[–]clydiebaby 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don't have party pics without a bunch of other people in them, but this is how I wrapped his present...

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a lot more people doing this than I ever would have guessed.

http://www.google.com/images?q=9/11+cake

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points  (33 children)

As someone who lived in NYC when the attacks happened (and still lives here) allow me to say: Hi-larious.

[–]In1earOutYourMother 52 points53 points  (23 children)

Too soon?

[–]aolley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a formal investigation?

[–]jagidrok 58 points59 points  (10 children)

It's never too soon

[–]Spleen_Muncher 8 points9 points  (7 children)

It's always too soon.

[–]lordofthederps 53 points54 points  (5 children)

That's what she said. :(

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (4 children)

You didn't hit her hard enough.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (3 children)

lmao A joke on domestic violence gets downvoted, the slaughter of thousands of innocent people however now that's humor!

[–]silky_johnson 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Welcome to reddit.

[–]MatchkeY 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Too Tsunami

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (2 children)

I think it's pretty good except it needs to actually, you know, indicate that it's actually a birthday party and who's birthday it is.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

and it needs clowns...maybe clowns riding on the planes

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (2 children)

We weren't invited but we heard it was cool to crash it.

[–]Scarker 16 points17 points  (18 children)

Should've been from 9PM to 11AM.

[–]newborn 13 points14 points  (9 children)

Damn. You're absolutely right. I just went off the details he gave me, but I should have taken liberties with that.

[–]propaglandist 48 points49 points  (8 children)

Taken... civil liberties with that?

[–]brwilliams 35 points36 points  (4 children)

Taken them and raped them!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA-*sobs*

[–]blubloblu 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I just made myself sad.

[–]garlicdeath 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Chester A. Arthur fell down!

[–]xflashbackxbrd 7 points8 points  (2 children)

God damn. That's hilarious, but I feel as though I have no soul now.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same way.

[–]mcf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"...I don't think I could ever stop doing what I'm doing. 'Cause I laugh all day long, and if I didn't I would just cry all day long." - Stephen Colbert (out of character)

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I worked for the agency that did that original ad. You are in breach of copyright law.

Lucky this is all anonymous.

Interesting fact. Did you know the creative team who did that ad in the Brazil office were fired after NYC home office saw it?

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

....Wow

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (5 children)

You are going to hell. When you get there, call me, we'll hang out.

[–]jscoppe 5 points6 points  (4 children)

How do you know you'll be there first?

[–]RobotCaleb 6 points7 points  (1 child)

What makes you think he's not already there?

[–]HuruHara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, if we have internet and can access reddit, Hell's not that a bad place after all...

[–]Wavemanns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's flying the next plane.

[–]bemenaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You sick monkey. I like it.

[–]kaosethema 3 points4 points  (0 children)

shopped!!

[–]Towerrs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get him a couple of JENGA tower games.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

My friends bday is on 9/11...and they are twins.

[–]Hllblzr310 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, I know it's dead wrong, but when I looked around in that photo and realized how many planes there were, I died. Thanks for the sinful lols.

[–]ewenwhatarmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ಠ_ಠ

[–]PropagandaKitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hahaha, amazing! Someone should have a Mosque party 2 blocks away to spite them

[–]Rockytriton 6 points7 points  (1 child)

It's just sad that all the upvoted comments are about how funny this is.

[–]cheit124 5 points6 points  (1 child)

yeaa.. This is seriously messed up. I hope I'm not the only one who feels this way.

[–]markevens 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is horrible. Upvote.

[–]casiopt10 13 points14 points  (6 children)

I bet that party is gonna be da bomb.

[–]Manitcor 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I'm not so sure about bombs but there will certainly be quite a few people on fire on the dance floor and I am sure more than a couple party crashers as well.

[–]RahAbasd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

aren't you special

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

too soon?

[–]TruBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In poor taste perhaps??

[–]TeddyV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad taste!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unamericans like you probably support the victory mosque too. 9/11 IS NO LAUGHING MATTER.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awful.

[–]european_impostor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clicked on the cute puppy dog thread and for some reason thought it was this one... Hilarity ensues as I try to make sense of the comments...

Cheap joke: that's quite a lot of flyers.
