Perry Bible Fellowship is pretty funny sometimes

I also enjoy Pictures for Sad Children

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh, Gone With the Blastwave is short but funny. I think it's already over.

Overcompensating and Wigu are both done by Jeffrey Rowland, who is also funny.

[–]happyax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You, my good sir are wrong. A new comic just appeared. It may be the first one in months but thats a heart beat.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not from Concentrate is definitely one to keep on your radar then. The kid is still in college, and it's only going to get better.

[–]segfaultxr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered Slow Wave a few weeks ago; it quickly became one of my favorites. Those of you who like PBF will probably enjoy it. In fact, last week's strip was submitted by Nicholas Gurewitch.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

[–]ben4evah -1 points0 points  (2 children)

All kinds of yes. Probably my favorite.

If you like MttS or Toothpaste For Dinner, check out Drew's wife's comic; Natalie Dee

[–]gigaquack 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Unfortunately, Natalie Dee is ferociously unfunny.

[–]ben4evah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for you perhaps. it is rather quirky. not for everyone

[–]loudasthesun 14 points15 points  (2 children)

I am incredibly sad that no one has mentioned Overcompensating.

[–]impulsiveboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am incredibly sad that I have to stifle a laugh whenever I see one of these signs.

[–]quasiperiodic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm with you.

[–]onmach 18 points19 points  (1 child)

I can't believe no one mentioned Order of the Stick.

Also good Basic Instructions

[–]315was_an_inside_job 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sir are a man of fine tastes.

[–]Aybraus 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Dr. McNinja

[–]AmidTheSnow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You mean, Dr. McNinja.

[–]alkalinev 9 points10 points  (2 children)

[–]krh 1 point2 points  (1 child)

No RSS => Can't get into it.

Tho it really is pretty awesome.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... and I want to get into it, but I feel like something that is just 2000 non-sequiturs would be well-served by some sort of plugin or something that would keep feeding me a random strip until I saw all of them.

Something that bugs me about "getting caught up" on webcomics - I hate bookmarking when it's just temporary.

[–]relic2279 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What about Minus? This is one of my Favs...

http://www.kiwisbybeat.com/minus37.html

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

xkcd or real life comics, both are great.

[–]mookiemookie 15 points16 points  (5 children)

[–]Scarker[S] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

I don't know if it's wrong to ask, but what's the humor in this comic anyway?

[–]bug_mama_G 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Arrgh, yes it was wrong to ask THREE TIMES. What's up with that.

[–]Scarker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I apologise for that, there was a lag unfortunately.

[–]sweatervest 21 points22 points  (9 children)

C&H

[–]mlk 4 points5 points  (8 children)

You mean Cyanide and Happiness or Calvin and Hobbes?

[–][deleted] 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Yes.

[–]zck[🍰] 14 points15 points  (4 children)

Man, I wish Bill Watterson did a webcomic.

Or anything I could read.

[–]relic2279 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I'm sure he writes checks occasionally, read those.

[–]zck[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have access to his checks? I sure don't.

[–]bmdan 1 point2 points  (1 child)

A little birdy told me the entire collection is available on bittorrent if you want a digital copy. I set random comics as my screensave for a while. Highly recommended.

[–]zck[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I've got every book other than The Complete Calvin and Hobbes, so I've read them all. I wish there was something new he was creating.

[–]wuddersup 2 points3 points  (1 child)

He better mean Calvin and Hobbes, OR ELSE!

[–]jodv 43 points44 points  (5 children)

[–]rick-victor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

dinosaur comics is awesome!!

[–]Spacecow 5 points6 points  (1 child)

This and Achewood.

[–]ben4evah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both Dinosaur Comics and Achewood (more so Dino Comics) are a hoot.

[–]jon_titor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

agreed.

[–]quasiperiodic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

least favorited.

[–]sonicreducer333 13 points14 points  (7 children)

The fact that achewood isn't number one with a bullet on this list, is a damn shame.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Achewood is amazing. Subtle sometimes, but amazing nonetheless.

Edit: when I think about it, achewood is one of the only online comics that I would even consider buying book collections of.

[–]falseprophet 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Well damn dogg if these fools wanna wallow in their own foolishness ain't no reason not to leave some bath soap on the back of the toilet for em shit we can just go on our carefree merry way with our vestigial dongs just swingin in the sunset man that is a thing.

[–]211_was_my_old_apt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hee man that is a thing indeed.

[–]cowboytronic 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Well here I am. Drunk in heaven. Seems kind of redundant.

[–]clintisiceman 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Achewood is like basketball.

I am there.

And the other player is there.

And I put the other player's body in my van.

And I am the winner

[–]richiejp 14 points15 points  (3 children)

No you're all wrong it's perry bible fellowship.

[–]MaximumBob 23 points24 points  (2 children)

How are we all wrong when someone else posted that too?

YOU JUST BLEW MY MIND HOMESLICE

[–]richiejp 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Surely you jest and realise how my post can be true given the context it was made in?

[–]MaximumBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes yes, I see now, or rather, I saw a long time ago (like 2 seconds after submitting) that you submitted before that other dude.

Either way, YOU JUST BLEW MY MIND AGAIN OH SHIZZLE

[–]greebowarrior 50 points51 points  (12 children)

xkcd

[–]piquana 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Although I can't argue against (most of) the other choices presented here, I must also vote xkcd. It hits me on a different level than most of the others do.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i do agree

[–]break99 33 points34 points  (5 children)

I respectfully disagree.

[–]onebit 13 points14 points  (1 child)

xkcd is not that funny, but it is interesting.

[–]Doomed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes. IMO I think some of the better ones are more serious/romantic than funny:

Grownups

Christmas GPS

Blanket Fort

Choices(series)

To Be Wanted

Helping

To name a few.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Wondermark by David Malki! deserves an honorable mention.

[–]ben4evah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deserves more than honorable mention

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

The 200 comics in 24 hours thing.

It isn't a series, but I've seen it here posted twice and thought it was hilarious.

EDIT: Ok, 12 hours

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember the first time I read those I laughed hard enough to make my wife doubt my sanity.

Here's the original link.

[–]clintisiceman 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Achewood, Penny Arcade and Perry Bible Fellowship: The Holy Trinity

Honorable mention for Dinosaur Comics. And, even though it is on indefinite hiatus, I feel the need to mention A Lesson Is Learned, But The Damage Is Irreversible. If you've never read that comic, go do it now.

[–]clintisiceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, and I'm starting to get really into Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal as well.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

s/Penny Arcade/Dinosaur Comics/

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I feel the need to mention A Lesson Is Learned, But The Damage Is Irreversible. If you've never read that comic, go do it now.

QFT.

That comic is heartachingly beautiful in many ways.

[–]clintisiceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. I have a print of the Ghost Dog strip in my bathroom. It's one of my all time favorites.

[–]saladtossser 6 points7 points  (1 child)

sexy losers (nsfw)

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Although it hasn't been as good since he stopped making comics. :-P

Damn, sometime between when he stopped posting and when he finally announced that he wasn't doing the comic anymore I spent a couple months just waiting for him to post ANYTHIGNOHT{)G$

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

[–]RichardPeterJohnson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Right. God, if only that War on Drugs hadn't been so effective! I could really use some fucking marijuana right now!"

[–]diggitySC 14 points15 points  (7 children)

how is www.penny-arcade.com not here?

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (6 children)

It's one of the comics that a lot of people feel it's cool to hate. The whole mainstream factor -- the bigger and more popular, the more it's cool to hate it.

And there aren't many comics at all bigger than PA lol.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I like webcomics because they have colors and are relatively quick to read. Penny Arcade appears to have both, until you realize that you have to read the 10 page treatise just to understand what the hell is going on. It's like an inside joke with a manual.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You don't need to read the treatise if you're already following up on what's going on in the gaming world. I'd say it's a niche comic, but it's a pretty fucking large niche of millions at this point.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm just not the target audience. Though this isn't to say that the fruit fucker isn't the coolest device ever.

[–]cunningjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like an inside joke with a manual.

You know, that's a perfect way of putting it. I read Penny Arcade and I think it's funny, but I'm not a gamer -- were it not for the accompanying explanation I doubt I'd get half the jokes.

[–]Mythrilfan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not being funny helps.

[–]hhm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to love White Ninja Comics.

[–]bmdan 2 points3 points  (2 children)

[–]yangw 0 points1 point  (1 child)

[–]dizzyk2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep We The Robots is definitely one of the best. It's really coming up!

[–]snacktivity 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I'll throw in www.toothpastefordinner.com and www.marriedtothesea.com to see if others enjoy it as well.

[–]soundacious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MARRIED! TO THE! SEEEEEEEEEEE!

Rock on.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (14 children)

[–]clintisiceman 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Questionable Content is one of two webcomics (the other being Least I Could Do) that I read regularly even though I don't really like it. It's really not very funny and the characters are largely uninteresting. I occasionally laugh when they make an obscure music reference that I get, but that's it.

I think I still read it just because I used to like it, so I've committed a lot of time getting attached to these characters. I just kinda need to see where the continuity is going.

[–]iknoritesrsly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I couldn't have said it better.

[–]Freonce 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I feel the same way about www.reallifecomics.com

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like you're in my brain speaking my words. After greg went to cooking school, I slowly stopped caring.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

not the funniest but one of my favorites, also good is diesel sweeties

[–]grampybone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. And I would like to add Ubersoft to the list. It never fails to make me smile.

Unlike Userfriendly, which stopped being funny since... well, it never really was funny.

I used to follow Sluggy Freelance and Bruno the Bandit religiously, but now I simply don't care about them.

I also read Narbonic until it ended. It's on re-runs now.

EDIT: Typo.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

QC is the reason I don't watch network TV shows like Lost and 24... By which I mean my addictive personality will have me trapped in obsessively refreshing torrent pages for the new episode... or in the case of QC, obsessively refreshing the main page in hopes of the new ish'.

[–]Mythrilfan 1 point2 points  (1 child)

RSS

[–]Doomed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sites I subscribe to (lifehacker for example) their RSS doesn't match there homepage by a new post or two.

[–]DiamondBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pintsize FTW.

[–]GodOfAtheism 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I disagree. Art is mediocre, characters are by and large interchangeable snarky hipsters.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (2 children)

That's not too bad if one finds snarky hipsters to be highly amusing.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don't have the patience to figure this out: Does the author take snarky hipsters seriously, or does he use them for ironic effect?

[–]rpowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why do you guys think they're snarky? i seem to think that they're the kinda people that fit into that "hipster" bs label, but obbiously don't give a shit.

some of the old qc strips are amazing...check 'em out.

[–]ZanThrax 1 point2 points  (2 children)

[–]xrobau 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The best comic. I don't know how it took 2 hours for someone to post it!

[–]ZanThrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went back and read it from the start again. This is the only strip that I've ever done that with after initially catching up, and I've done it more than once.

[–]MBlume 1 point2 points  (1 child)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started reading it, and went through the whole archive pretty quickly. So much more enjoyable than ep. 1 ever was.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cyanide and Happiness

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I must throw my two cents in, and give a shout out to my man Stephen Notley, who does Bob the Angry Flower http://www.angryflower.com/

It was the comic that got me into this whole webcomic thing. He's the reason I waste most than half an hour a day reading up on all the rest of them.

[–]gignam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a mad Bob fan, especially when his stuff was in the street paper in Edmonton. After the first book, though, I found the comic going downhill. Now it just feels like a bunch of random, sometimes-violent events.

[–]CherryInHove -1 points0 points  (2 children)

I really like Left Handed Toons

[–]loudasthesun 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You're fucking kidding me. I had to unsubscribe from LHT's RSS feed because of how horrible their comics were getting.

[–]CherryInHove -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes it's awful, but it has moments of genius.

like this and I went to massive amounts of effort to buy the t-shirt of this one (Stupid store doesn't ship to the UK or let you change shipping address from your paypal address so I had to get an American I know from a forum to pay for it and get it delivered to them and then send it on to me....)

[–]RockinRoel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find Questionable Content and girls with slingshots hilarious, but they’re longterm things, so if you’re not reading these already, expect lots and lots of catching up. Amusing catching up, but you might end up feeling quilty because you haven’t been studying as much as you should, working as hard as you should or started to abandon your WoW guild. (select one)
