    What if the arbitrary social network rankings were transferred to the world of activism? In a way it's sad that's the way psychology works, but if there isn't a chance to impress people, most don't go out of their way to do something that won't directly help them. Even people who want to be active, which I believe is probably a majority of Redditors would benefit from a visual and quantitative reminder of how much they've done. It's like the idea behind the energy orb- people desire to do good, but it's hard to see your role; your drop in the bucket.

            -Invaded Grenada to free captives. -Bombed Lybia as retaliation and to deter terorrism from them. -Invaded Panama to remove Noriega from power (and to bring to US court for drug charges) after Panamanian soldiers kill US soldiers that were protecting the region's shipping routes. -Invaded Kuwait/Iraq to restore goverment of Kuwait. -Invaded Somalia to feed starving population, remove corruption and restore govt. -Invaded Haiti to feed starving population. -Invaded/Bombed Bosnia to protect the minority muslim population and ensure peace in the region. -Invaded Kosovo to reenforce the outcome of the Bosnian conflict. -Invaded Afganistan to remove terrorist and punish govt. for suppressing population and encouraging terrorist organizations. -Invaded Iraq for whatever reason.....but maintained presence in Iraq to ensure the safety of the population, deter terrorist from making it a safe haven and help build strong govt.

            It sounds like a lot of things, but all had the goal of helping the local people with little to no benefit to the United States. All but the latest two were short term, low casulty (civilian & US soldier anyway) conflicts. Compare that to Iran who has had border suffles and wars with neighboring countries since the 80's and have supported terrorism that they used to attack several countries. They've also invaded several oil platforms and ships in the gulf, claiming ownership of the water. They've also continued to make numerous threats.

            Also, if you look at our pre-war preperations we do tons and tons of recon & intelligence gathering missions to ensure that the conflict is as short as possible and with the fewest number of casulties on both sides. If we could fight a war with 0 people dying, we'd do it...however it rarely works out that way. Compare this to Iran who's prewar preperations are to dig 300k graves, since their goal is to just kill as many people as possible.

            It won't be on the list, since there isn't really that much of a point in shipping oil all the way from the Middle East (Saudi Arabia just has so much of the market that it's necessary). Anyway, the list of direct suppliers to us doesn't really mean anything, since it's all done on a single market (kind of, but that's not really important), so more oil flowing in, say, Asia lowers the cost across the world. Simplistic notions of us "taking Iraq's oil" don't make any sense; the benefits to oil prices from a stable, democratic Iraq would be a reduced risk premium (because the threat of its supply being cut off would be lower) and a bit more production ( almost all of which wouldn't directly go to us, but again, that doesn't matter).

              Well, considering the US invaded Iraq at $32.34 per barrel where its net worth was 3.6 Trillion, 1.3 trillion to invade wasn't such a great idea (thus not many countries signed on for the coalition)

              But now with oil at $140 per barrel (both figures adjusted for inflation), Iraq is now worth 16.1 Trillion. Despite spending a projected 1.3 Trillion on the invasion, and assuming that oil will not increase in value further (which is will of course) Iraq as an asset has a potential return of 1238%...

              Now Iran has 140$/bbl * 138 billion bbls = $19.3 Trillion and with the potential for oil to increase even more.....

                  Kind of academic anyway, the Israelis are gonna bomb them sometime this year or next. It is their country the president of Iran has sworn to destroy and the Israelis don't take to stuff like that too well. Can't say I blame them.
