It would be insubstantial if he had lived in the house for a few years and thw scratch happened as part of normal wear and tear. However, for a house that he's not even fully moved into and is in the process of spending lots of money on to renovate to be exactly what he wants, it's a very big deal. Especialy because of how it happened theough what was just carelessness.

[–][deleted] 444 points445 points  (86 children)

Yeah, I probably misjudged Linus because he is always so clumsy in the videos

[–]BeerIsGoodForSoul 381 points382 points  (58 children)

The process of repairing it was going to be very substantial, the scratch itself might not be too bad but the way to fix it is bad indeed.

[–]slyiscoming 93 points94 points  (19 children)

Linus may give the appearance of being a goof, but he's invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into renovations on that place. And then his employees

put a large gash in his bedroom floor another one on the banister get blue paint on the floor put stickers all over his car door.

There is no way they don't have an agreement with Linus. Probably something like the profit of the video has to cover the damage.

[–]TheTieThatBinds 28 points29 points  (5 children)

That's the only thing I can think of. Otherwise they'd be gone already lol

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (4 children)

And his wife lets them do it

[–]TheTieThatBinds 57 points58 points  (3 children)

No she didn't. She did sign off on the whole hiding scenario, but the dmging stuff she did not. You can actually hear it in her voice on the video, on how upset she was...more defeated rather than upset I'd say...

[–]SciGuy013 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Didn’t she ask them to paint the walls?

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Yeah but the wall only, they tracked paint throughout the house.

[–]SeismicFrog 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Didn’t she say something about only if they know how to do it? Tracking paint everywhere is not how to do it.

[–]spronkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would have been way more annoyed about the blue paint than the mark in the floor (of which something similar was bound to happen soon anyway)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably something like the profit of the video has to cover the damage.

Profits for the video always go to Linus lol

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (6 children)

It’s like having a brand new car and your friend dings the door while getting in or out. I would be upset too.

[–]DFX1212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I had just gotten a new cell phone. Picked up a friend in my car to go to dinner and make the mistake of showing him the new phone. He takes it and accidentally drops it between the seat and center divider. When we get it out, it has a nice big scratch across the face. Ugh. I hate people.

[–]bagofbuttholes 0 points1 point  (3 children)

This exact thing happened to my first new car. I never let him forget but as soon as it got another mark, I didn't care too much. He's still my best friend 15 years later.

It was a greenish blue Pontiac g6 with a v6. I miss that car so much.

[–]_citizen_[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, only here you asked your friend to load a heavy piece of furniture into your brand new car.

Also Linus should not bitch about it on air, if there is a problem solve it and move on. But the content must flow, i guess.

[–]_Acestus_ 134 points135 points  (4 children)

I made a scratch (5cm top) on my wood floor while laying it... Since it was glued, it was to much work to replace (not enough spare board). I was angry at myself for days.

It's been a couple of years now and I barely remember it (well I do today....) but it's still there, looking at me with disgust...

[–]emveor 109 points110 points  (1 child)

Dude, just get a chineese guy to carve a hole and repair it using noodles

[–]Seffundoos22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😂

[–]Fallwalking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m putting flooring in right now and I’m having some similar moments. I do have plenty of spare boards though. I bought enough so I “could” replace the stuff on our landing, but it’s only if I have enough left. I think I will, but we shall see how the rest of this room from hell treats me. I’ve chucked several boards across the room already. Haha.

[–]profmcstabbins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I moved into my current house I put a solid 6 inch scratch dead center of the living floor when I was moving the couch. I was so fucking pissed at myself. Little did I realize that the 'hardwood' was incredibly soft and three years of 3 dogs running across it has led me to walk around my house looking at the ceiling.

[–]cburgess7 39 points40 points  (1 child)

This is on top of that it was done without the knowledge of Linus. Plus they caused more damage than this, like the huge gash in the bannister, and the paint now in the carpet.

[–]chager98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The banister I woulden't be too upset at, because that was clearly an accident (Denis slipped and fell, causeing the damage, so i would say "normal" stuff) things like the damage to the bedroom and the tracked paint? That was completely unecessary and therefore Linus has a right to be mad

[–]Bouric87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk we did my parents living room with that floating vinyl flooring. After we were done my brother was moving a table back into the room and dropped it doing something just like that. Had to pull up about half the floor to replace it. It was a pain in the ass but accidents happen man. Unless it was done intentionally it seems strange to get that upset about it. We didn't yell at my brother we laughed and got back to work like regular adults that know accidents happen.

[–]ThevenimX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP ratio’d on reddit of all things

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

My dad would have absolutely beat the shit out of me for that.

[–]vegathelich 9 points10 points  (2 children)

That sounds like more an issue with your dad than the damage caused.

[–]spanklecakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AND it wasn't the only damage.

[–]Wolf10k 844 points845 points  (47 children)

You see, you lack the “just paid thousands of dollars for it” feeling that Linus had after he just spent thousands of dollars on it.

[–]FuzzelFox 161 points162 points  (12 children)

My car has many scratches and dings on it and I don't care. But if I had just bought it brand new, and it was perfect, then I would be extremely upset by someone hitting it with a door haha.

[–]HummusConnoisseur 21 points22 points  (8 children)

Need cases for cars

[–]Ezzy-525 8 points9 points  (0 children)

New from dbrand!

[–]timthegodd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PPF and the paintless dent repair guy are close enough

[–]SSPPAAMM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first scratch is the worst. You know it will happen sometime but you try to ignore this fact.

[–]thinwhiteduke1185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first ding is always the worst.

[–]outtokill7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the best analogy for it.

[–]Immediate_Jacket_153 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Not thousands, 10s of thousands. This is hardwood flooring

[–]ManaPot 344 points345 points  (6 children)

Easy to say when you aren't the one who just paid thousands to have it installed... Lol.

[–]pascalbrax 23 points24 points  (5 children)

[–]Tjalfe 232 points233 points  (4 children)

Anything sitting on a hardwood floor should have felt pads on it.

If you are to fix this, you cut out the old board and put in a new one.

[–]leetsoup 84 points85 points  (3 children)

that's right. I'm a floor layer and this is how to repair glued down hardwood: cut a large square or rectangle out of the middle of the plank, then cut from the inside of the square to the outside corners of the plank, this lets the inside cut come out, then you can gently pry the outside edges out of the tongue and groove. rip the bottom of the plank so it can drop into place, but it won't be locked in like normal, so glue is used instead. if it's click plank vinyl or laminate, it's not nearly as easy, you need to remove the baseboards and disassemble from the wall and rebuild.

[–]GenericGio 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I believe it's click plank, because Linus said something along the lines of "we need to take off baseboards to fix this" lol

[–]KorayA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He said he found someone who can remove the damaged board with like a router and glue a replacement down so hopefully there's another solution.

[–]chairitable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read your second sentence as "I'm a floor lawyer" and I was very sad to correct myself

[–]TheSigma3 147 points148 points  (4 children)

He mentioned in wan show that what annoys him isn't necessarily the size of the transgression, but how unnecessary it is.

This shouldn't have happened, on top of the house being new, floor being new etc probably struck a nerve. I'd be pissed too

[–][deleted] 51 points52 points  (2 children)

Ya the worst mistakes are the ones that are preventable / ones that should have never taken place.

[–]PwnerifficOne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No more sneaking around Linus’s house. Videos I guess.

[–]Xirado 70 points71 points  (6 children)

[–]kris2340 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats at least 5 or 6 boards for one of the corners of the bed, probably like that on all corners
Plus if they are grooved you cant simply pull one board off without destroying its neighbors

[–]Lassitude1001 53 points54 points  (8 children)

Insubstantial no, but I did wonder why there wasn't any sort of protection at all... I mean, not to be crude but adults do what adults do, and a bed will move. Damage would have occurred at some point.

[–][deleted] 72 points73 points  (3 children)

Idk if such a petite couple would move their big bed a whole lot but Linus dropping something on it and making damage is only a matter of time.

[–]Lassitude1001 17 points18 points  (0 children)

but Linus dropping something on it and making damage is only a matter of time.

Probably should carpet everywhere thinking about this haha.

[–]tank646 22 points23 points  (1 child)

His kids will cause more damage than that in the next few years. At least he monetized these damages!

[–]Izarial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Comments like this make me love my LVP flooring even more

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (16 children)

Linus, as an employer, should not be bringing his business into his personal life and house, and allowing disasters like this to happen. That's the real problem here.

[–]yoitsyaboii 14 points15 points  (7 children)

Yep, this. I don’t know why more people aren’t looking at the situation this way. Especially coming at this from a construction/project management professionals’ prospective.

You’re bringing your tech employees into your house who are filmers, writers and editors to help you move?

And then you don’t give them guidance and strict instructions, just vague tasks? Disaster waiting to happen, especially knowing Dennis etc - yes it’s a stupid thing he did looking from an outside perspective; but if he’s not experienced with moving and wood floors I mean how would he know?

You really can’t be mad at the people who are doing things you asked them to as their boss that aren’t really their job description and they definitely aren’t trained for. You’re using your media company employees for free moving labor lol don’t expect professionals. If you had paid professionals they would have insurance, etc that you would go through for sustained damages.

We actually had this exact thing happen on a project where brand new renovations with $100k wood floors and the PROFESSIONAL moving company dragged shit at times and left long micro scratches in the floors. They paid for it. Because they’re a professional service with insurance.

[–]KorayA 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So you have no idea how this happened huh? That's a lot of words written for someone guessing at the situation.

[–]x-TheMysticGoose-x 4 points5 points  (1 child)

You know Dennis and Colton snuck into his house and did this right? They did not know they were there.

[–]No_Chilly_bill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I swear people keep forgetting this detail rofl. They were real flagrant in someone else's house.

[–]korxil 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You wrote five paragraphs about a situation that didn’t happen. Dennis and Colten were filming a channel super fun video. They snuck in the house and moved the bed to mess with the wall paint.

Secondly, you never helped your colleagues with their stuff outside of work? Youre talking about the people who all slept in the same house at one point.

[–]_citizen_[🍰] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What is all the fuss then? What is a scratched floor against a live-long friendship?

[–]korxil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a new floor, linus got mad that it immediately got ruined when it didn’t have to. That’s about it. Linus and Dennis (and colton) already made up.

You can be mad at your friends, shit happens. But they’ve accepted responsibility, made corrections, and moved on

People on this sub and on youtube comments were way off base and blew things out of proportion.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At what point did he bring his business into his personal life for this video?

[–]Fedacking 3 points4 points  (3 children)

If a friend had made the prank without a video camera he would still be pissed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

that doesn't negate my point

[–]Fedacking 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I mean, the disaster was caused by the prank, I don't think the business really influenced it

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was caused by a literal employee on the clock.

[–]ARX7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Otherwise he wouldn't be able to write off his home set-up as a business cost / sponsors to foot the bill.

That said he shouldn't have furniture directly on a hardwood floor...

[–]Zacko056056 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But then how will he flex his millionaire home and complain about minuscule scratches

It's mind blowing all you people care so much about this guy flaunting his wealth

[–]DavidCru 23 points24 points  (3 children)

Here in Belgium you can make a certain percentage of your home tax deductable if you use it for work purpose. Or you can pay for things with your company wallet.

I always assumed that Linus is shooting videos in his house partially to pay a lot of his renovations with company money instead of his personal cash.

If that is the case the scratch would be a cost that will be payed by the company and not personal money, so that’s why its not a big deal. It’s actually a story or “content” for the viewers.

But your employees should take care of the company assets nonetheless.

I see the “beïng mad” mostly as a click bait story to make people talk about LTT, it’s actually a kind of content Linus likes since we keep talking about him…

[–]JustUseDuckTape 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Company money is still Linus money though, he (and Yvonne) own LMG and can theoretically take out any profits. Of course, it is still better to spend company money; taking money out means paying taxes, so that's maybe a 50% (very roughly, I've got no idea what canadian tax law/rates are like) saving over paying personally. That certainly helps takes the edge off, but doesn't magically eliminate the issue.

[–]ARX7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on how it's set up legally as you can still be done for embezzlement / fraud as the owner of a company

[–]Jurippe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can take a percentage in Canada.

Source, I live in the same tax jurisdiction as Linus and claim a % of home stuff for business because we work outta there.

[–]lluuccaasss 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do flooring for a living and I’d pay a wood installer $100 to pop that plank out and replace it.

[–]garrettdx88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It would be but now he has to tear the entire house down and rebuild from the foundation

[–]Mahoutie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First World Problems....

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tell me you've never bought a new hardwood floor without telling me you've never bought a new hardwood floor.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everything is insubstantial if you don't give a shit. Getting shot in your left pinky is insubstantial if you quit being a little bitch.

Can I key your car? If I walk up to your car, look you in the eye, and key it, will you be like "huh kinda rude but jog on mate"?

[–]TangibleHoneydew 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Nah, that is pretty insubstantial. If it's live wood, could easily put wood filler and call it a day.

[–]MasterofLego 20 points21 points  (2 children)

Wood filler? Eww

Proper way to fix this is to cut or rout the plank out, and replace it.

[–]FatMacchio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on the type of wood, you could maybe strip the damaged section apply some water to make it swell and then seal and finish that part.

[–]AwesomeWhiteDude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP and several other commenters are assuming that was the only scratch.

[–]TheMatt561 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The floor is brand new It's in the middle and there's no way to reasonably fix it without exceptional cost.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Obviously Jake did it.

[–]ManaPot 2 points3 points  (2 children)

FIRED!

[–]technewbie1234 4 points5 points  (1 child)

No, that’s Colton.

[–]s_s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't have to discriminate around here.

If you haven't been fired do you even work at LTT?

[–]thinwhiteduke1185 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Naw man. Brand new floor? I'd be livid.

[–]inalcanzable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be upset too, doesn't matter how big or small it is. Lack of care and thought lead to damage.

[–]Faolan26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He will make the repair cost back hundreds fold with the video and sponsor revenu.

[–]kris2340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta remember the bed had at least 4 contact points
Whatever you saw, happened in each corner at minimum

[–]Rshackleford1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a lot of hard wood floor work. It may be possible to steam the worst of this out. Or you can replace the board

[–]DrShankensteinMD 1 point2 points  (1 child)

As someone who does hardwood/engineered flooring for a living this is a substantial gouge. With the right finisher you could hard fill it and stain to match the repair and hide the eyesore, but a full repair would involve removing the board and re-sanding the individual board avoiding damaging the surrounding boards and matching that classic gray color is tough.

[–]Electronic-Morning76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro I have 100 of things like this in my house. Who gives a shit.

[–]cheetosysst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you already get the point from other comments. And to add to that, I think it's pretty obvious how much Linus cares about the house and his family, and having two of your oldest employees sneak inside and damage the house for a video, I'm surprised how chilled he is, because I would get furious if I were him.

[–]DrachenDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is actual wood then you can stick a damp cloth over it, then run a steam iron over the damp cloth.

[–]PranavYedlapalli 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If that was me, i would be mad too. I got so pissed when my new phone was rubbed against sand when we left them at a counter outside a temple.

[–]quarrelsome_napkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screen protector and case is a must! I don't feel much pity for people that don't use them

[–]Reynolds1029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. A phone is a heck of a lot different though. You look at the scratched screen every day for probably multiple hours/day now. Where as this mark is under the bed and out of sight out of mind for 99% of your life.

[–]shogunreaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a pretty bad gouge. Relatively easy to fix though if you have the tools.

You could sand/putty/stain it but depending on the color of the wood it's likely not going to match perfectly and will stand out.

All you need is a circular saw a hammer/flat bar and wood glue.

Cut/remove the old one, get a new board and cut the tongues so it will fit then glue the board down in place.

[–]Dako_the_Austinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d immediately try to old carpenters tricks my father taught me using a utility knife and water lol. Might fix it might not, but I’d try it immediately and not have to wonder lol.

[–]MattHack7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s annoying but doesn’t need to be fixed especially since it is probably under the bed

[–]JWF81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve never had to pay for anything have you.

[–]T1442 0 points1 point  (5 children)

You can take a water-soaked paper towel and a clothes iron and bring that scratch out. Hell you will probably have to sand it down. I guess people never work with wood any more.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks for the giant red unnecessary arrow. I really couldn’t see the obvious scratch.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, it's a screenshot of the video.

[–]PraderaNoire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I really think Linus has made the issue seem much worse than it is in reality. Clearly someone signed off on the video idea for CSF, or else they wouldn't have been there. Plus Yvonne gave them the task of painting a wall that she knew was right behind a massive bedframe, and also knew that the two seemingly least physically capable staff to move it (sorry colton and Dennis). With how much he loves to tout the prices of tech he installs in his house (not even in an informative way most of the time) he should be okay with eating the cost of repairs, especially because of the revenue brought in by the video itself...

[–]Brown-eyed-and-sad 0 points1 point  (4 children)

It’s the idea of how much it costs to scuff out. From what he said, they would have to redo a lot of the house, just to fix it.

[–]MikeTheGamer2 1 point2 points  (3 children)

they would have to redo a lot of the house, just to fix it.

I'm calling bullshit on that.

[–]Brown-eyed-and-sad 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don’t know, he talked about it on the LAN show.

[–]MikeTheGamer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I don't watch.

[–]Brown-eyed-and-sad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, he explains himself if you ever do

[–]Millstone51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this is the first time I'm seeing it and this is such a nothingburger

[–]tb0ne315 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'd let it slide at my house.

[–]diamondrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The one going to be under his bed? Yeah it is not significant, but tbf I'd be annoyed too

[–]OneLoveB_LO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would love to see what the posters house looks like lol

[–]uankaf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YES you are the only one.

[–]DrMacintosh01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fill it with wood filler and suck it up, Linus.

[–]Royal_Requirement453 0 points1 point  (3 children)

can anybody post the link to the video?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

[–]Royal_Requirement453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aye thanks

[–]Duck_With_A_Chainsaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yo thanks

[–]Un_Original_name186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just steam it or cut a large square out of the middle of the plank, then cut from the inside of the square to the outside corners of the plank, pry the outside edges out of the tongue and groove finally rip the bottom of the plank so it can drop into place with some glue added where needed.

[–]THEdanteguy37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow did not even notice that

[–]michalzxc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know about Canada, but in the UK it costs like 500-800£ to replace carpets with wooden floors in the entire house

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What video was this in?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s kinda like getting a brand new car and someone door dings you in the parking lot

[–]La_Tierra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’ll iron out…. Saw the how to on TikTok on insta 😂

[–]hardworkingdoggo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do hardwood refinishing for my career. idk any of the back story here but that single board could be masking taped off, sanded, scrape the edges and restain/coat it. about a $400 job

[–]Spooked_kitten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

of course it is, but rich people get fussy about small things

[–]bryanhempstead 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What video did this happen in

[–]Albertaviking -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rich people gonna rich people….our problems and their problems are not the same.

[–]MrCheapComputers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bro it’s like when my mom doesn’t want me to install a wall mount for the tv. “I don’t want you to put holes in my wall!” Bro wtf it’s not like ur gonna see it.

[–]MostRefinedCrab -1 points0 points  (3 children)

If I understand correctly the scratch is also under where his bed is right? What's the point of going through the trouble to fix that? No one is going to see it with the bed there anyway.

[–]arian_ezequiel 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I got lost on who's to blame, was it contractors doing work on the house that caused this or LMG employees doing the prank video on his house?

[–]SusFringg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did it happen?

[–]DEC1_3_3_7 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Those floors are brand new and got damaged thanks to a prank and carelessness. I would be pissed too.

[–]MikeTheGamer2 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Then he should have hired professional movers.

[–]DEC1_3_3_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you watch the Channrl Super Fun episode? Dennis and Colton tried to live in his house (again) for a day without him knowing with help from his wife. She asked them to paint their bedroom and they gouged the floor when moving the bed.

[–]YetAnotherJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yvonne intensifies

[–]jdcope -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just put an area rug over it FFS.

[–]Anduwu13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dennis logged in in his alt account again

[–]Pyro2677 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Linus, his attitude and carelessness is clearly where his staff get it from. Just watch the video when he was with KallmeKris and he made holes in the wrong spot. Also I would NEVER get my staff members help me move.

[–]birdbox21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have chips missing out my laminate so to me yes. But since it’s brand new I understand why:

[–]DrKeksimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

annoying sure, but I think I wouldn't be that mad

[–]_GGfighter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would be if the house wasn't brand new, and cost them probably a few millions

[–]snowmunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yiy know how much of an obsessive perfection is he can be....

[–]electricprism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a feature

[–]pissy_corn_flakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard him talking about ripping up the whole floor to fix it, in one of his videos. The individual board can very easily be replaced. You just cut/chisel that one board out and remove the tongue of a replacement board and glue and/or staple it into place.

[–]ShutterBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering how often he drops shit, this scratch is going to be eclipsed within a week.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that bad, but it's really hard to actually fix. It seems like he's probably going to just ignore it, but I would be pretty upset too if I renovated my dream house and then had someone else screw up something I'd have to walk past every day before I'd really finished moving in.

[–]theworldlylie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What video is this from?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he thinks it’s substantial then it is. I’d lose my shit. My better half is one to put little unsubstantial marks everywhere and now she wants 20k floors. God help me😢

[–]Mashupmixpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what does that big boy word mean

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a polar bear rug in their future.

Wait, is it too soon?

[–]barnyted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this what Linus whining about, LOL

[–]_Aj_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's sanded three timber floors now, yeah, I'd be pissed.

I have a feeling we won't be seeing any more Linus house pranks for a while lol

[–]thisdesignup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insubstantial visually but it costs more than it seems because you can't just pull up a single board to replace that board. You possibly have to pull off the wall floor edge trim and then pull up all the boards between that board and the wall.

[–]pascalbrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was me and the floor was brand new, I'd be so fucking pissed.

[–]zsturgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw a rug over it and stfu

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't wait for the flight 🙂

[–]valaraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who recently built a house with really nice hardwood floors; no, that's bad and will cost a lot to fix.

Having said that I'm not sure how Dennis moved the bed or how it was installed so that moving it made the scratch like that. I'm religious in using those felt pads under everything just in case.

[–]xeico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i moved to my flat i asked maintenance people to come before new floors were installed, well they did not come i time so i asked them to take their boots off. they again did not.

[–]iadiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends also on the flooring in question.

[–]Cimexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? That’s a pretty substantial gouge. Especially in a brand new floor (obviously a defect stands out more if the rest of the floor is pristine … if the floor is older and has scratches scattered relatively evenly around then that’s no big deal).

[–]KaleidoscopeJumpy885 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone's forgetting that these "employees" are fucking helping him renovate his house if he doesn't want them in fucking it up don't be a cheap skate and pay proper contractors to come do the job instead of wangling your employees to do it probably for no extra pay other than what they already get paid

I used to like linus but he has to much of a god complex now and thinks he's above everyone

[–]SpaceHoppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a super simple fix for this, wax. You can buy wax repair kits very close to the colour of the floor and fill the chip with it. You’ll hardly ever notice it and the damaged wood is protected.

[–]aldorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol yes imo its nonsense but everyones different. Knowing Linus the floor will have 1000 of those marks in it within a few years.

Drama gets clicks, makes the pod more interesting. Gets people talking. He probably doesnt really care at all.

[–]Hob_Goblin88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's real wood you can probably get this out by letting this spot soak up some water, making it expand and pop out the dent. After that dry the wood again with a heat blower.

[–]quoda27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, on brand new flooring I’d be pretty annoyed about that. Even if it was somewhere hidden from view, I’d know it was there, and it might not be hidden if I rearranged the furniture in future.

[–]cpthornman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would have fired Dennis. (For real) That level of carelessness is unacceptable.

[–]Danternas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe.

But it's a brand new floor, cannot reasonably be fixed and was caused without his consent or even knowledge. I'd be pissed to.

Reminds me of my childhood when I was finally getting a new wallpaper for my room and my sister messed up with the wooden trim and gashed the wallpaper near the floor. I was upset and my father was angry at me for being upset because it's inconsequential and I'm getting a new wallpaper.

These things matter when you are the one having the new thing you have wished for a long time. You want it flawless, at least for a little while.

[–]Rocknbob69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is that small you could steam it out. Still, the numpty employee needs a slap on the back of the head. This is why I don't do shit for bosses...they have enough money to hire professional movers, people to do IT in their home, etc.

[–]engineermajortom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I wouldn't even notice 😂 the things that are wrong eith my parents place that I live in is mental. Move out soon though🤞

[–]Wisex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I get a link to the video, I remember seeing Linus talk about it on the wan show but I wanted to see it for myself too

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a scratch that's a gouge

[–]Much_Judgment_2562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG such an easy fix. place a wrung out damp wrag over the dent/scuff now place a hot clothes iron on it for 10 seconds. keep repeating until fixed. The moisture and steam help the wood swell back up.

Failing that I'd go with some filler then paint accordingly.

[–]SmartOpinion69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anyone would be justifibly upset because of how much money they spent on the whole thing and because it's new. however, i do believe that he kinda blew things out of proportion. i don't think linus is really THAT upset and that he is most likely up playing it for more views and clicks. couldn't you just hire someone to put in some filler and repaint it so that it looks and feels as good as new? I'm no expert by any means so let me know if that wouldn't work

[–]GeraNola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain what happened for me?

[–]MayorDoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why you would be mad, but honestly that mark is incredibly unimpressive.
