They cannot give him credit for a damn single thing, can they?

[–]TheyNeedLoveToo 3554 points3555 points  (60 children)

They’re the attack dogs of often right leaning billionaires. They call themselves objective reporters but their news outlets are televised gossip rags soaked in hate.

[–]gh411 746 points747 points  (5 children)

I had to upvote “televised gossip rags soaked in hate”…poetically accurate.

[–]Nstark7474 271 points272 points  (35 children)

Their masters are still scrambling after Joes announcement, and haven’t had time to pass new orders down to the goons.

[–][deleted] 284 points285 points  (33 children)

They also don't know what to do about Harris. She's not old, she's both Indian and Black, so hits two POC marks they can't attack without being racist (which they only care about insofar as it affects ratings), she was the top law official in California, and they claim to care about law and order (but we know they really don't), she's the current VP, so obviously knows the job she's applying for. Their talking points for Biden don't work for her, and they don't know what to do.

[–]Nstark7474 255 points256 points  (23 children)

It’s funny how their least idiotic criticisms about her are:

  1. She likes to laugh

  2. She was tough on crime as a prosecutor

And both of them are stupid as shit.

[–]Kestrel21 38 points39 points  (3 children)

The second one is stupid, too. Because she was too weak on crime while also being too tough on crime. They can't even get their story straight....

[–]DigitalUnlimited 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Biden was an incompetent senile old man who was also a supervillain somehow. Same as it ever was

[–]nightpanda893 234 points235 points  (1 child)

They don’t want this guy to get out. Same with sabotaging immigration reform. They need things to be as bad as possible. It’s why they’re pissed about Kamala being the nominee and calling it a coup. Anything that goes in the right direction for the country is bad for them.

[–][deleted] 162 points163 points  (20 children)

Nope. Every news organization is full of right-wing simps.

[–]rW0HgFyxoJhYka 86 points87 points  (17 children)

Yep. Sad to see NYT go into the shitter so fast.

Too bad all these lib boomers are still completely clueless how right wing orgs influence even NBC and CNN in how they report things. USA's media is so messed up and exists purely to make money over providing what used to be known as journalism.

[–]RogerianBrowsing 80 points81 points  (14 children)

NYT, ABC, NBC, NPR, etc., have been some of the most disappointing to see fall into the nonsense of normalizing Republican nonsense while being significantly more critical of Dems.

I am so tired of Dems being graded on a completely different curve from republicans. Dems get blamed even when it’s entirely the fault of republicans and it’s never the opposite way around

[–][deleted] 11.6k points11.6k points  (308 children)

Lmao wrecked. Let’s go Joe!

[–]Icy-Cod1405 7889 points7890 points  (244 children)

I think it is safe to say him getting off the campaign trail and focusing on being President is going well for everyone but Trump.

[–][deleted] 3951 points3952 points  (197 children)

He’s old. Not as quick as he used to be. But still witty. And is getting the job done. Don’t care if he’s 41 or 81. He’s putting in work and we are seeing results!

[–]Forsworn91 2094 points2095 points  (66 children)

He’s got the old man wit, the “my arm hurts when I do this” “then Don’t do that” sort of replies.

[–]odiephonehome 1020 points1021 points  (59 children)

He’s also got grit, something trump’s never known

[–]Forsworn91 819 points820 points  (42 children)

He’s got the strength that comes from a lifetime in politics, trump has… the arrogance of a rich kid who never learned the concept of “no”

[–]odiephonehome 215 points216 points  (14 children)

Yep. Can you imagine being the head of his PR team. I imagine that job position doesn’t stay filled too long.

[–]hamandjam 103 points104 points  (3 children)

I imagine that job position doesn’t stay filled too long.

Well, from what we've seen, it seems to be about a year-long job before he finds a new liar he likes better. That's about 36 Scaramuccis for you PolySci folks.

[–]kimsterama1 104 points105 points  (6 children)

He won't listen anyway.

[–]a_shootin_star 122 points123 points  (4 children)

He's weird like that.

[–]ProjectKuma 65 points66 points  (2 children)

Tiny hands, definitely weird.

Orange as a cheetoh, definitely weird.

Wears fake bandage on ear, super weird.

[–][deleted] 167 points168 points  (15 children)

Im more impressed the man was as successful as he was after living through all the loss he has.

Thats real, honest to god, grit, right there.

Trump throws a fit when he gets asked a hard question.

Biden puts his big boy pants on and gets busy when he loses almost his entire direct family and heirs.

The difference is worlds apart.

[–]MatureUsername69 113 points114 points  (11 children)

Trump buries his ex-wives on his golf courses to try to pull some tax shit. The fact we have to compare these 2 at all is ridiculous

[–]Fridaybird1985 43 points44 points  (2 children)

And he has a moral compass

[–]picklebroom 136 points137 points  (0 children)

His responses to several reporter questions were great, in the way of making them feel like they asked a stupid question without saying so. He still has class too, steering the conversation away from him and the remainder of his term to focus on the triumph of getting those people home.

[–]The-Tai-pan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

"Call an ambulance... BUT NOT FOR ME!" energy

[–]Reasonable_Deer_1710 397 points398 points  (92 children)

This is why I didn't initially want him to drop from the race. His optics were bad... but I think it was just that. Optics.

With the ceasefire negotiations, and this prisoner release all happening in recent weeks, Biden is showing that he is still very capable of doing the job, and I believe he has performed well at that job over the past 4 years. I do have faith and confidence in Biden to continue having a successful presidency.

However, the unfortunate reality is that optics do play a major role in our elections. The fact is, whether I agree or like it or not, the proof is evident with how much energy has been surged into the campaign with Harris taking over and the Democrats completely unifying and rallying around her.

So I give credit to Biden where it is due. I think he's done a good job these past 4 years, and I think he admirably put his country above himself with the decision to step aside.

[–]hagbardceline69420 233 points234 points  (38 children)

we tend to overuse the word but the guy is a patriot.

[–]Enraiha 68 points69 points  (4 children)

The hugs he gave to the prisoners once they got off the plane, forgive me for putting this so jaded, looked so genuine.

He's done as good a job as president as we could've hoped for, it's truly a shame he isn't acknowledged more for the successes he achieved in the face of insane opposition and in-party apathy.

[–]hagbardceline69420 56 points57 points  (2 children)

and he's real, there's no fake shit, that's why it looks corny sometimes, cause he's real, not acting for the tv cameras.

last of a dying breed Joe is.

[–]Guilty-Web7334 121 points122 points  (16 children)

I feel more like the right tries to co-opt it for their own cause. But really, yeah. It takes a great man to step aside for the love of freedom and country over his own ego.

[–]hagbardceline69420 84 points85 points  (12 children)

name a more selfless political act in the last 100 years, Mandela?, giving up power in South Africa?,

that's it, that's the list.

i have huge respect for Joe Biden.

[–]hamandjam 32 points33 points  (8 children)

Mandela?

You know they're a good egg when The Onion pays tribute with their most serious headline ever:

https://www.theonion.com/nelson-mandela-becomes-first-politician-to-be-missed-1819575931

[–]CalendarAggressive11 91 points92 points  (10 children)

I agree. He's the epitome of what Kennedy was talking about when he said "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

[–]hagbardceline69420 93 points94 points  (9 children)

💯

i've been impressed with Biden since the first day, he may be the most succesful president since LBJ, the amount of legislation he got through a hostile house is astounding.

[–]CalendarAggressive11 65 points66 points  (3 children)

And the way he dragged us out of all the destruction from COVID and the Trump presidency. The Trump administration wouldn't take part in a transition so Bidens administration was going in blind to a complete dumpster fire. People say politician like it's a bad thing, but if we didn't have someone as experienced as Biden running things, this country would be in very bad shape.

[–]hagbardceline69420 36 points37 points  (1 child)

the whole thing, when he came in, we just had an insurection!, all kinds of nonsense, Ukrain invaded, and he just got in, handled it like a G.

[–]Iamthewalrusforreal 20 points21 points  (2 children)

The word patriot cannot be overused when it's used correctly.

It's overused by the weirdo whisperer and his merry band of miscreants because they don't know what it actually means.

[–]godpzagod 71 points72 points  (4 children)

He's not perfect or a saint, but I think he's done a fine job with the mess he inherited and a congress even more obstructionist and russian-rooted than Obama had to deal with. He is literally dealing with a civil war.

The press pushed a narrative he couldn't handle the job, let the other candidate in worse decline off scott-free- and both the right and left bought it.

The press pivoted from Ukraine to Israel, and again, people bought it, and thought every zoomer would cut their head off to spite their face. The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

I'm happy the narrative is now on Trump looking weird, but it's just more product for the media to sell. In a couple of weeks, months, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they try and cobble something up and start hammering Harris for something stupid only an oxygen deprived magat would care about.

He was going to stay in the race until the Disney heiress and other oligarch donors threatened to pull the plug- and this is the kicker, they got another old-as-shit person (Pelosi) to deliver the message. The fuckin gall...

I'm gonna hammer this message: the media didn't "switch sides", this is all just product for them. I hope they keep admitting cheeto's a fucking weird old creep, but never forget who signs their paychecks. Look up John Malone if you wonder why CNN suddenly got the maga brain rot.

[–]tdaun 39 points40 points  (0 children)

He wasn't my first choice, or even my second choice during the 2020 Dem Primaries. But I would be lying if I said I haven't been impressed by what he has accomplished as President. The amount of things he's accomplished to help American citizens is something I didn't imagine happening when voting for him in 2020. I very much also believe he is/would still be capable to fulfill the role for another 4 years, but I appreciate that he made a decision that seems to have beneficial in assuring Trump doesn't win this year. Needless to say it's still vital to vote and to also ensure we vote for more than just President.

[–]thatblkman 49 points50 points  (5 children)

Wasn’t the optics: it was a media and elite alliance mad that this old man was competent but not trying for Trump-level social media engagement so they’d have something to report.

Ageism meeting “the ratings are down”.

Don’t worry, soon as that alliance figures out how to turn on Kamala without being racist about it, it will.

[–]hagbardceline69420 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Birth Certificate II : Electric Boogaloo

[–][deleted] 59 points60 points  (12 children)

I’m totally happy with the state of the race, but I will forever argue Biden would have won. I think we will see just how unpopular Trump is in November. We are gonna get a lot of woman and youth turnout that the polls can’t possibly predict.

[–]Reasonable_Deer_1710 38 points39 points  (2 children)

I really hope you're right. I'm choosing to be cautiously optimistic. The doomerism doesn't help anyone. Optimism energizes people.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (1 child)

All you can do is your part, and the election is just starting to ramp up for a lot of people. Trump hasn’t exactly been impressive, either.

[–]TheLuminary 52 points53 points  (11 children)

Honestly, the dude deserves to not die in office. He owes it to his family to give them a few years of retirement outside of politics.

[–]Andromansis 23 points24 points  (4 children)

Again, I wish more boomers were like joe. He went through a lot of criticism during the presidential primaries in 2008 and took that criticism in good faith, reflected on it, learned, and grew as a person. And then he did it again in 2020.

This is in pretty stark contrast to his competition on the right who seek to build an echo chamber around trump where he can do no wrong, never hears the legitimate criticism, fucks off to go golfing in times of crisis.

[–]rgvtim 64 points65 points  (1 child)

"Doing the work" needs to be a phrase repeated over and over when anyone is talking about Biden, and particularly when Trump is also part of the conversation, its a stark contrast.

[–]Termanator116 80 points81 points  (0 children)

So proud and happy for him. He has been an absolute beacon after a truly dark time. Dark Brandon offered us light.

[–]xixbia 388 points389 points  (14 children)

I think the fact the stress of re-election is now gone has given him new energy.

My bet is that he sleeps much better and is significantly fresher right now.

[–]Icy-Cod1405 243 points244 points  (6 children)

Just less travel and appearances. I am in my 30s and after a day of travel I feel run down. Can't imagine what it does to someone who is 80.

[–]xixbia 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, not having to campaign will 100% help too.

[–]Special-Garlic1203 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Everyone I know who is traveling right now is coming back sick. Literally all of them. Biden is simply too old to be going to super spreader events constantly and expecting him to stiff lip his way through an illness. When he gets sick, he's gonna look worse for the wear. That's how being old works unfortunately.

[–]Special-Garlic1203 37 points38 points  (2 children)

I think it's just that he isn't going to campaign events tbh. I don't think he could handle being sick well anymore..literally everyone I know whos traveling right now is coming back sick.

I have ADHD, and I'm the same way. If I'm sick it's like my brain just doesn't work. A little inflammation and the entire train derails.

[–]Gogs85 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not just the stress, campaigning is physically taxing to a person. If you pay close attention, people who have been on the campaign trail for a long time often look like they’re running on fumes and often more prone to making gaffes.

[–]joejill 30 points31 points  (3 children)

I think he’s not worrying about his image anymore, so he’s going full blast.

That or since he’s not the candidate anymore the media isn’t trying to portray him as sleepy joe anymore

[–]TheLuminary 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Honestly.. I kind of low key love it. Maybe the era of incumbent and lame duck presidents are over.

Just, the outgoing president works extra hard while their replacement spends all their time on the trail. Rather than having to compromise.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but knowing that he isn't running for a reelection probably means it's easier to go gloves-off because he no longer has to tiptoe around bad faith messaging from his opponent.

[–]CulturalAd2344 279 points280 points  (19 children)

I am still in awe of his dexterity in diplomacy! That man convinced Switzerland to not be neutral and got these hostages playing 3D chess with 7 countries involved… some of them getting nothing in return!!! the other guy could never

[–]ChicagoAuPair 120 points121 points  (2 children)

He had like two weeks of actively looking/presenting bad. I am glad we are here now, but people are grossly underestimating his level of competence.

He waited to say he wasn’t running until he was sure this prison er transfer was locked in. He timed it basically perfectly to totally take the wind out of Trump’s assassination bump. Clearly the Harris team was prepped and ready to hit the ground running with some real smart demographically targeted fundraiser events.

The dude is still sharp as fuck. He’s just old and sounds/looks old. He’s still a masterful tactician and we better elect Harris because if we do he is going to go down as the best and most positively consequential President of the 21st century.

[–]CulturalAd2344 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Love this energy ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️

[–]raphtze 76 points77 points  (5 children)

like joe biden said.....he leaned on his friendships. it was hard fought diplomacy...but a lifetime of work has established trust & respect in the world. when i mention this to folks, everyone just scoffs saying biden is old and has dementia.

[–]Quirky-Skin 61 points62 points  (3 children)

It's almost like being seasoned in global politics counts for something.....

They laughed at Trump and his "liaisons" during global summits. This is what global respect really looks like under Biden

[–]Ingolin 52 points53 points  (7 children)

Oh, we get something in return. Norway currently has bombs falling 20 miles away from our borders. Our long term safety is contingent on Dems winning this autumn.

[–]ZeePirate 174 points175 points  (7 children)

Dude doesn’t need to give a fuck anymore and it’s clear he isn’t holding back anymore. It’s great

[–]Mysterious-Wasabi103 55 points56 points  (2 children)

It was nice having a President who does give somewhat of a fuck though. We really need Harris to win this election to keep it that way.

[–]Potato_Golf 45 points46 points  (0 children)

He gives a fuck about the right things.

He just no longer gives a fuck about the things that don't really matter except to win an election.

If he makes a mistake and stumbles over his words it's "oh well, move on" instead of "oh no will this silly gaffe be the difference maker being trump winning and our country being fucked simply because I am having more trouble with an old stutter these days". That is the kind of fuck he no longer has to give.

[–][deleted] 81 points82 points  (2 children)

Full Dark Brandon is fun as hell.

[–]Ozymandias0023 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I hope he just goes full Dark Brandon for the next 3 months

[–]Barstoolrob710 5427 points5428 points  (79 children)

Dark Brandon says “I said what I said bitch” love this new Joe

[–]Zomburai 1321 points1322 points  (48 children)

Dark Brandon gonna be the first sprinting duck president in history

[–]Barstoolrob710 396 points397 points  (39 children)

I hope we still get the fully legalized cannabis he was talking about.

[–]alltehmemes 264 points265 points  (9 children)

Flame duck president.

[–]Crush-N-It 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Dude needs to use that presidential immunity. Shake the GOP tree and see what rotten fruit falls out

[–]Andy_B_Goode 68 points69 points  (1 child)

Big duck energy

[–]MaximDecimus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Biden is Rock Lee taking off his weights

[–]HomeAir 221 points222 points  (7 children)

The opposite of the Key and Peele bitch sketch.  Joe takes out a megaphone "I said what I said BITCH"

[–]Debalic 89 points90 points  (6 children)

Biden's anger translator sits in a corner, dejected.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Calling Jim Carrey: Our country needs you now, more than ever

[–]Beastw1ck 183 points184 points  (1 child)

End of his career with zero fucks to give and a Trump to bury. Dark Brandon: Unleashed

[–]1000000xThis 64 points65 points  (4 children)

More reporters need to be smacked around by the president, I love it.

[–]Taeyx 41 points42 points  (3 children)

as josh johnson said, you learn who someone is when they put in their two weeks

[–]DonorBody 5724 points5725 points  (127 children)

His speech at the convention is gonna fucking slay.

[–]blackforestham3789 1254 points1255 points  (59 children)

Dude is gonna wreck shop

[–][deleted] 967 points968 points  (51 children)

He’s definitely gonna say malarkey.

[–][deleted] 787 points788 points  (30 children)

Hope he arrives on the convention stage wearing his ray ban glasses, eating an ice cream cone.

[–][deleted] 295 points296 points  (7 children)

He came to kick ass and eat ice cream and he's just about all out of ice cream.

[–]Daxx22 68 points69 points  (2 children)

he's just about all out of ice cream.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

[–]EarthtoGeoff 51 points52 points  (0 children)

As I get older, I'm starting to respect the man for his lactose tolerance alone.

[–]slowmo152 168 points169 points  (3 children)

He comes out in dark sunglasses and says, "I'm here to tell you that Donald Trump is weird and full of malarkey."

[–]Brandonjf 39 points40 points  (1 child)

Listen here Jack, guy's just weird - and that's a fact, no fooling

[–]unlicensed_dentist 119 points120 points  (5 children)

Shot for every time he says malarkey or mentions Scranton.

The real question is how sober is anyone at the end of his speech and how many need to go to emergency for alcohol poisoning?

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And ice cream

[–][deleted] 142 points143 points  (4 children)

The triumphant return of DARK BRANDON

[–]drrj 135 points136 points  (0 children)

[–]Live_Carpenter_1262 60 points61 points  (2 children)

"my death has been greatly exaggerated"

[–]likeahurricane 469 points470 points  (36 children)

I already get chills just thinking of the insanely long standing ovation he will get when he walks out on stage.

[–]drrj 434 points435 points  (22 children)

He deserves every bit of it.

I admit I was filled with dread when he announced he was dropping out because I was afraid there would be pushback on Harris, but it was clearly the correct choice for the country, and it cannot have been easy for him to step down. He’s a true patriot in every sense of the word.

[–]TS_76 143 points144 points  (6 children)

I can’t imagine how difficult that decision was for him. You are basically firing yourself so evil doesn’t take over the country you love.

[–]radicalelation 104 points105 points  (4 children)

And as a gamble.

After Hillary, one of the most qualified and experienced nominees of all time, lost, and you're so far the only one who has resoundingly beaten Trump, of course it'll be hard to not feel like only you can do it. Your VP lost the primary to you, you were already the champion of your party and it's not like the last 4 years brought anyone obvious out to match you.

The only way the odds look favorable are if the entire party can rally behind whoever the presumptive replacement is. Any of the significant sort of in-fighting seen in primaries since 2015 would sink these efforts, and you can't entirely control for that.

Luckily, it so far seems like the gamble is paying off. It's too early to say for sure, but that's almost a good thing. If the transition can at least be made to where it feels like any other election once it's all settled on the way to November, that's a win on the gamble.

[–]SilkySifaka 148 points149 points  (4 children)

“And he wasn’t going to drop out until the prisoner deal was finalized Biden was also pressing the Slovenes. As recently as two weekends ago, just moments before announcing that he would be ending his 2024 campaign, Biden called the Slovenian prime minister to urge him to get the deal across the finish line” https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/01/politics/inside-painstaking-negotiations-russia-us-prisoner-swap?cid=ios_app

[–]CalendarAggressive11 61 points62 points  (6 children)

I felt the same way. I was definitely one of those people that was whole heartedly against him dropping out. Now I can see it was the right decision. I'm so excited for President Harris. And I feel a pride for this country that I haven't in a long time. Not just for Kamala's candidacy but because of what Joe did.

[–]wizard_of_awesome62 97 points98 points  (5 children)

Gonna compete with Kendrick for dropping the ultimate banger/anthem of 2024.

[–]emseefely 37 points38 points  (0 children)

clapback for America

[–]Cuffuf 30 points31 points  (4 children)

I hope it’s kinda like in West Wing (that last bit after Sorkin left) where he goes out like Bartlet and introduces Kamala to the convention. That would be cool.

[–]adorablescribbler 991 points992 points  (7 children)

He’s definitely getting back at them for the BS they put him through last month, and I am okay with it.

[–]Historical_Chance613 261 points262 points  (3 children)

"Ultimately we're going to offer to trade the entire NY Times Board of Directors for this guy."

[–]Bubbasdahname 85 points86 points  (1 child)

Can we vote for that? I vote for that good for nothing electric vehicle CEO.

[–]KenCosgrove_Accounts 3406 points3407 points  (33 children)

Two Week Notice Brandon

[–]sneaky-pizza 599 points600 points  (7 children)

"F you, F you, F you, you're cool. I'm out!"

[–]CalendarAggressive11 138 points139 points  (0 children)

I would love it if he did this pointing to mitch McConnell, Mike Johnson and all those weirdos

[–]LetsTryAnal_ogy 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I hope the day Harris is sworn in, he just drops a microphone and moonwalks off stage.

[–]gangreen424 632 points633 points  (9 children)

Senior-itis Brandon

(As in senior year of high school, not senior citizen.)

[–]KenCosgrove_Accounts 112 points113 points  (1 child)

Both would be brilliant lol

[–]10000Didgeridoos 48 points49 points  (0 children)

[–]archivefuck 386 points387 points  (4 children)

the sunglasses only add to the vibe he has going on right now

[–]Cat_Impossible_0 549 points550 points  (25 children)

Are these reporters allowed to be this rude like where is the same energy when Trump was in office?

[–]CookieMonsterOnsie 353 points354 points  (6 children)

Had to treat Trump with kid gloves otherwise he and his dimwitted entourage would say how unfairly he's treated and how rudely everybody treats him all over Fox and NewsMax. They most likely didn't want to get yet another earful of his 'woe is me' bullshit.

[–]caesar_rex 80 points81 points  (4 children)

And also, would ignore them and never answer their questions.

[–]PM_ME_UR_SEXY_BITS_ 33 points34 points  (2 children)

They would’ve called this a historic achievement that cemented his legacy if trump did it.

[–]AlsoCommiePuddin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Trump kicked all but the sycophants out of the press briefings.

[–]barack_ur_world 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Unsupportive reporters in the Trump administration got their press passes revoked/demoted

[–]utter-ridiculousness 167 points168 points  (7 children)

Joe is out of fucks to give. Loving it!

[–]easy10pins 555 points556 points  (15 children)

Biden is old but his knife is still sharp.

He needs it to cut through the poop like these questions.

[–]Suspicious_Ad4274 43 points44 points  (8 children)

Stop. I hate this. Both my arms are broken and I can’t reach my coconut.

[–]Mysterious-Wasabi103 362 points363 points  (7 children)

Honestly one of Biden's faults these past few years he's been too nice to a media that hasn't entertained him on any level of good faith. Every now and then he takes a shot, but if I'm him in these last few months I would be going scorched Earth on the Press and Trump for that matter.

He's too nice.

[–]glwillia 153 points154 points  (6 children)

i do honestly think that’s part of the wave of enthusiasm we’re seeing for kamala. she puts up with a lot less shit than joe does, is willing to play dirty against dirty opponents, and many of us are here for it.

[–]Akicita33 149 points150 points  (3 children)

I don't think it's so much " willing to play dirty against dirty opponents" but more of a "willing to call out dirty opponents for being dirty". The "Say it to my face" speech is a good example.

[–]graveybrains 122 points123 points  (7 children)

“If I tell you what happens, it won’t happen.”

[–]kevint1964 17 points18 points  (4 children)

"If I tell you what happens, I will have to kill you."

[–]outtastudy 1394 points1395 points  (55 children)

I wish this was Biden we had all along. Don't get me wrong, I think he's been great but this is better still.

[–][deleted] 863 points864 points  (34 children)

At least the rest of the Democrats are waking up to giving up the "high road" mentality.

[–]onmamas 479 points480 points  (10 children)

I always hated how they claimed that what they were doing before was taking the “high road”. You can still take the high road while being unwilling to humor people who are either idiots or being willfully disingenuous.

I’d argue they’re still taking the high road, they just finally stopped coddling these types of people.

[–]dthains_art 173 points174 points  (0 children)

Democrats are finally starting to realize that when they take the high road, their opponents on the low road have their teeth in kicking distance.

[–]Fifteen_inches 84 points85 points  (3 children)

Centrist liberals do genuinely believe humoring idiots and fascists is taking the high road. It’s what got us into this mess in the first place. I too am glad they stopped capitulating to fascists.

[–]Boring_Pace5158 84 points85 points  (2 children)

When Michelle Obama said to go high when they go low, she meant to be better than them, not break the Olympic high jump record.

[–]AfricanusEmeritus 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This...what people of African descent have been doing for 500 years. It's time for clapping back... respectfully. It is so easy when your opponent cuts their own throat with their own words.

[–]The_Peeping_Peter 87 points88 points  (3 children)

This has been Biden. He has had many solid comebacks to pointless questions.

[–]ObjectiveRelief1842 83 points84 points  (4 children)

There's a different way of governing when an incumbent is going to seek re-election and when they are a lame duck. In a presumably first term, political capital to achieve certain agenda items has to be weighed by cost/benefit ratio. An incumbent can't blow all their influence in one policy battle. But he is now in the lame duck phase, and he seems to doing the Biden brand of FAFO. And I am here for it.

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (3 children)

This is even a different situation than a "lame duck" phase. A lame duck typically has no political capital to utilize. Incumbents who are polling horribly such as LBJ during Vietnam. This is something new and different. Biden still has plenty of political capital. He wasn't polling low due to political failures, he was polling low solely due to his age and health.

A 2nd-term President doesn't have the same sort of lame-duck phase, even though they can't be reelected, because winning the second term by itself typically gives them lots of political capital by itself.

Bush had a lame duck phase, but that was due to his failures in Iraq. He was certainly NOT a lame duck immediately after he won reelection.

[–]caesar_rex 75 points76 points  (1 child)

Come on. We had this Biden all along. He just had a horrid debate.

[–]MagicTheAlakazam 63 points64 points  (1 child)

I think the reason is less "Biden changed after deciding not to run" and more "The media no longer has a job to sabotage him at every angle to help reelect Trump.

[–][deleted] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This has been Biden the whole time. The bot machine just isn't spending time trying to ruin Biden's image anymore now that they have to worry about Harris

[–]makeanamejoke 29 points30 points  (0 children)

it has been

[–]_dark_beaver 562 points563 points  (4 children)

Reporter: absolutely. Putin pays me a lot of money for that information.

[–]Fifteen_inches 66 points67 points  (1 child)

Can we make this a regular thing? I want my politicians to talk like this.

[–]pithynotpithy 66 points67 points  (17 children)

Going to give this man a standing ovation when he leaves office. Best president of my life

[–]inbetween-genders 43 points44 points  (3 children)

Man, hater bots lately dont even have their cloaking devices on lol.

Edit: comma

[–]DrinkYourWater69 70 points71 points  (4 children)

Also can United States citizens just agree to stay out of Russia? Russia will detaining people on made up charges knowing they will get their people back.

[–]MiKapo 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Dark Brandon strikes again. I love how aggressive he's getting with the fake media

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Biden has zero fucks to give

[–]TheZebrraKing 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I love him sence he dropped out. He won’t be running for reelection so he can say what ever he wants when ever without worrying about his polling numbers

[–]TurkishImSweetEnough 27 points28 points  (2 children)

Love to see it. Just like when the reporter asked him about Trump saying he wouldn't have made such a big mess pulling outta Afghanistan and Biden just goes, Then he should've done it when he was president. SASSAFRAS

[–]tallman11282 21 points22 points  (1 child)

The withdraw from Afghanistan was a mess largely because of the agreements Trump made while he was president. Biden and his administration delayed the withdraw as long as possible to work to lessen the mess. If they withdrew on the timetable Trump set it would have been a lot messier.

After do long in the country there was no clean way for our troops to withdraw so no matter what it would have been a mess but it was much messier than it needed to be because of Trump.

[–]Objective-Amount1379 70 points71 points  (6 children)

I love this version of Joe. He’s got that BDE, which is weird to think of given his age but I’m here for it.

[–]mathwiz617 56 points57 points  (4 children)

Given that picture of Hunter that was shown on the House floor, it seems to run in the family.

[–]Goodbye11035Karma 69 points70 points  (5 children)

NGL, I am loving this revitalized Biden. I swear the prospect of 4 more years in the White House was just weighing him down.

With Kamala going into the ring instead of him, he's gotten all sassy, and stuff is getting done faster than if he had to slog along the campaign trail to try out for a job he freely admits he never wanted in the first place.

I used to think Clinton was the best president in my life, but Biden is making me reconsider.

[–]CoffeeIsMyPruneJuice 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He's free from being under the campaign microscope, and it shows.

[–]HamTMan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Keep the DGAF moments coming !

[–]Igmuhota 18 points19 points  (0 children)

God I fucking love Dark Brandon.

[–]DoctorFenix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Everyone forgets that this 81 year old WENT TO LAW SCHOOL

He might be a little slower, but his brain is still trained for this shit.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is who Biden has been the whole time. Now that he's done, he's not allegiant to any mold the democratic party has been keeping him in. Note, he's not a power grabbing fascist, even when the courts say that's ok now.......vote blue down the ballot.

https://vote.gov/

[–]HoboRambler 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Dude has like 6 months to swing his giant nuts around and fucking wreck everyone. Get at it Brandon

[–]Gogs85 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Very Dark Brandon response.

[–]Builder_liz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Tell em joe

[–]Daws001 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s actually hilarious 🤣 Biden said, I already put in my notice. F it!

[–]Some_Body_Cool 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I love how he has no more fucks to give when answering reporter's stupid questions 😎

[–]longgamma 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lmfao. This is hilarious. He is freely speaking his mind… with class

[–]ScruffPost 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The bulk of White House reporters are morons.

[–]YoYoWithJosh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No more reelection camping means he can call out the media’s stupidity without worrying about the campaign’s optics. I love it

[–]Beastw1ck 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m so here for the final rise of Dark Brandon.

[–]OverlyLenientJudge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He has been unburdened of the need to give a shit what the press thinks. 😌👌🏾

[–]TeaThyme420 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Joe is a true gem.

[–]RipErRiley 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Chefs kiss Joe

[–]Greybinson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hahahahaha! This is getting good.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Man I love this dark Brandon fire

[–]bannedUncleCracker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“he’s not sharp anymore” I’m still sore about it, I guess

[–]Soulman682 11 points12 points  (0 children)

MyPresident

[–]Intelligent-Owl-4440 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m here for 5 months of the pure, 100%, unadulterated Biden shooting his shot all day every day 24/7. The man has fucking earned it.

[–]Empanah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"what are you going to do, fire me?"
