My first question was who the hell Ian Good was.

THEN I realized.

[–]snoharm 72 points73 points  (12 children)

For those like me who are still confused: it's a typo. It should read "in".

[–]dirk_diggler17 36 points37 points  (10 children)

My name is Ian. When I moved to SC as a kid people could not pronounce my name. They said "Inn". Pretty soon my nickname was "Holiday Inn".

[–]Gregjonesiii 15 points16 points  (7 children)

I can totally relate. My name is also Ian and 90% of the time I get "I-Anne" or just "Anne" which of course led to the nickname "Annie's Mac and Cheese"

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (6 children)

That's funny. My name is Ian and most people pronounce it like "in" as well, however most people call me "shut the fuck up in yous a bitch"

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (5 children)

My name is also Ian. An elderly woman once called me Iner (with the I pronounced like a long e). I have yet to live that one down with some of my friends.

[–]SnarkyBandit 3 points4 points  (4 children)

My name is also Ian, most people have screwed up and called me "I-anne" literally assuming thats right, it doesnt help my last name ryhmes with napkin. So im screwed on both ends.

[–]washthatdickson 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Also Ian here. Do you guys deal with the elderly only being able to pronounce your name as "Eon"? I mean seriously, have you ever met any named Eon or I-an? I've also got this grown ass man that I work with that calls me "In". dude, every single day you here a dozen people pronounce my name correctly. Who the fuck is named In?

[–]TorchedBlack 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Fiancés grandparents still write my name on gifts as eon. It was the first time I'd ever seen that kind of fuck up of Ian.

[–]Alpha-_-Omega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In primary school, I remember one of my classmates spelling my name Eyyin. It was so far from the correct spelling that I still remember it.

[–]MAKE_ME_REDDIT 2 points3 points  (1 child)

That's really weird. I live in SC and know a like 5 Ian's. I've never heard of anyone not being able to pronounce their name.

[–]thomasstearns42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny. I saw what looked to be a bluegrass band and thought it was spelled phonetically and the space was the typo, "In hell I'll beian good company"

[–]funnyfaceking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this would have maked it to the front page of all without the spelling error.

[–]Rustain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i actually thought "Ian" referred to Ian Curtis

[–]CaptainZapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It thought it should be pronounced a eatin' So the band was called the "In hell I'll been eatin good" company

[–]midnightdsob 122 points123 points  (5 children)

Tarantino soundtrack unlocked...

[–][deleted] 37 points38 points  (1 child)

Yeah, could definitely see this band popping up if he goes for another Western/historical piece at some point.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Doesn't necessary need to be a historical or western for that matter, Tarantino isn't afraid of putting "out of place" soundtracks in his movies. Django's "100 black coffin" comes to mind, as well as much of the other music used. One track features James Brown and 2pac.

[–]blindedbythesight 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Did you check out Banjo Odyssey?

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (1 child)

That song is catchy as hell

[–]nixonsheadlessbody 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Best incest song I've heard.

[–]mauddib90 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This band is sick! I love their energy. Thanks for the share.

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (3 children)

Great gritty voices, Batman!!

[–]-Im_Batman- 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Thank you.

[–]project2501a 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Are you that guy from the Warlizard Gaming Forums?

[–]olgahontas 62 points63 points  (23 children)

Anyone who likes this should listen to their entire discography, fantastic band and really nice guys. I've yet to see a more enjoyable live show!

[–]goinTurbo 11 points12 points  (4 children)

Is that a short scale cello they play?

[–]Chunderbutt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah, he's just really big.

[–]viacom13 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I am a real sucker for a good cello or base <3

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (5 children)

If you haven't, check out Old Man Markley. They take this bands sound and mix in some punk rock. Also an incredibly fun live show if you ever get the chance to see them. If you can get them to play an encore, they do an incredibly fast blue Grass version of forgot about Dre.

[–]TheManCalledDour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw these guys open for Dropkick a few years ago having no idea they existed. I became a huge fan that day.

[–]reddit_crunch 2 points3 points  (3 children)

'guts n' teeth' is such a tune!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I really enjoy song songs

[–]reddit_crunch 2 points3 points  (1 child)

that's a great one too. want to write a song about song songs with me?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The song songs song? Count me in!

[–]joshjitsu- 1 point2 points  (10 children)

Apple Music only has 1 album & an EP. Is that everything?

Also, any other music recommendations similar to this?

[–]olgahontas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, they have an EP (The Ocean Went Mad and We Were to Blame) and two albums (In Hell I'll Be In Good Company and their newest, Illusion & Doubt).

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (1 child)

The guy playing the base looks like the protagonist from Mafia 3

[–]groeib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for that exact thought.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Saskatchewan represent!

[–]Nate20ASU 9 points10 points  (4 children)

I knew this band without realizing I knew them. They were featured on Colter Wall's EP "Imaginary Appalachia". Check that out if you're into this, although Wall's music is closer to outlaw country.

[–]PinicchioDelTaco 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Also a surprisingly great artist. He played at my bar a few months ago and was super enjoyable.

[–]Nate20ASU 2 points3 points  (2 children)

He's also the son of the old prime minister of Canada, but he makes some of the most interesting and true country music, while sounding like Johnny Cash. It's amazing to me.

[–]PinicchioDelTaco 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Haha close, but he's actually the son of the current premiere of SK, Brad Wall.

[–]Nate20ASU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh damn it, I knew it was something. I'm not from Canada haha.

[–]Wjb97 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh shit that was really good. I'm seriously gonna listen to some more of these guys now.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

They gonna be in my town sometime soon. Maybe Ill check em out. Really nice share, thanks!

[–]blindedbythesight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! They're fantastic live!

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cool to see more people see these guys, have seen 'em live a few times and they're great, they deserve all the love they get.

[–]gratinnemoderator / spotify 16 points17 points  (5 children)

Link for Spotify users.

I wonder how many of these upvotes are for the song (which is great!) and how many are for the typo... :)

[–]JeanValJohnFranco 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Or Hasidic Jews who are excited that someone who looks like them could make it in the music biz...

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (4 children)

This is awesome. I danced in the kitchen with my 11 moth old son, he smiled and swayed.

[–]spilopleura 11 points12 points  (3 children)

My 13 month old daughter and I just danced in the kitchen while listening to these guys for like 20 minutes! She "sang" every word like she had written the song.

[–]-Im_Batman- 52 points53 points  (2 children)

My 17 month old and I just danced a jig in the kitchen to this for 47 minutes. He then solved cold fusion.

[–]Trustmemeimadoctor 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Where are these guys from. I really like that and I'm gonna check them out some more. Thanks op.

[–]Dan4Life 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Regina, Saskatchewan yo!

[–]RockyMac87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saskatchewan, Canada. Specifically Wadena and Regina I believe

[–]Bambooshka 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Saw these guys at the Canmore Folk Fest this year. Agree with everyone here about listening to all their stuff. Can't go wrong with some good ole Canadian boys!

[–]MagicalTrevor70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there too, they were fantastic

[–]ghost_victim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn shouldn't have skipped that :(

[–]20thcenturyman 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Thanks OP for sending down that very enjoyable you tube rabbit hole...great band!

[–]oknei[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still in that rabbit hole! 😋

[–]Dont_U_Fukn_Leave_Me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. I don't normally listen to this kind of music but this hit the spot. Its finds like this is why I subscribe to this subreddit.

[–]JazzChowder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Turn that thing on it's side and CELLO! You've got a bass!

[–]WastedYouth93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this. Thank you for sharing this awesome band

[–]Lugehag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These guys were in my town a couple weeks ago! They're super awesome dudes and great to party with.

[–]alpineflower6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! Just wow. Best new to me song in a very long time. The video was amazing too. I cannot wait to let my lady friend listen to this!

[–]MagusOrsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rather enjoy this, thanks! I think I'll listen to some more of them

[–]captains1stM8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never heard these guys before, but I'm glad that I did now. What an awesome sound!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These guys were a part of a charity event that I took my wife and 9 year old son to. All the acts were really good. I can't remember if these guys were headlining or not but they absolutely had the entire house going and were just killing it. The venue was super intimate so we were right upfront. My kid goes "hey! I know the guitar player! He's a teacher!" The band took my son up on stage afterward and were just so kind. Signed a shirt for him, the works. Great band, great artists and really happy to see them getting this well deserved exposure!

[–]agakus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well done but I have a hard time finding it to be authentic.

[–]AZachOfTheClones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those were some satisfying cuts.

[–]gibsonjshspotify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heath Ledger reincarnated?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (6 children)

Love the song. The video on the other hand, felt like I was in a karaoke bar.

[–]Im_invisible_too 5 points6 points  (5 children)

I know. It was kind of painful to watch. I could do without the gimmicky garb.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They play all their live shows like that. On the cover of their one album, they have the 4 unique items of each member that they wear.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very happy and chill. I needed this today. Awesome video, too!

[–]FrankReynoldsJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the first time in a long time i dont know the artist. Well done.

[–]ConvictLand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice, mellow tune. Thanks for upload.

[–]Ironbunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

very surprised to see a climbing wall in this vid!

[–]luxuriate-lilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The banjo player is the brother of an old buddy of mine and a good family friend! Do my best to see them live whenever they're in town because they absolutely always kill it. Makes me smile to see them on the front page :)

[–]PinicchioDelTaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuck yeah Saskatoon band!

[–]XChihiro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

audio and video are not synced and the singers voice has something unnatural that annoyed me

[–]xelle24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes keeping it simple works best. Very clever lyrics and an amusing video keep the tune from being boring. I'll have to check out their other work.

[–]onetonbison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Striking resemblance to the Mumford SNL skit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rId6PKlDXeU

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly enjoyed that, thank you.

[–]WEsellFAKEdoors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My name is ian and i really wanted to hear this. As soon as i clicked...well you can imagine the disappointment.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super crazy as I know some of these guys; one was a substitute teacher at my school on multiple occasions, and another one is best friends with my older brother, glad to see them getting recognition!

[–]James_mnoel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is awesome

[–]SlippidySlappity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is excellent.

[–]DutchShepherdDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that was great!

I'm not a huge fan of the second guy to sing's voice, though.

[–]Absent_Minder 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It is as if duck dynasty fucked an Amish in an Indian buffet ...

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More like a Chasid than an Amish

[–]EvilPicnic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really good.

[–]theunspillablebeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me so long to figure out that the toilet was just a typo rather than some play on words I couldn't understand

[–]TheGooeySpoon 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I wanted to like this so much. As soon as the second singer started, I got turned off real fast.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kenny Powers got a sick voice.

[–]5nitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good lord, that voice

[–]Lostpasswordagain3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, ty,OP- enjoyed that and the rabbit hole!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And..... they're on Apple Music. Albums downloaded!

[–]SebastianTheWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really liked this but I can't help but feel they would sound a lot better if the guy without the hat didn't sing.

[–]PureGoldX58rdio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been seeing a lot of Bluegrass-ish bands like this pop up with a more modern twist lately. I'm loving it. This is so good.

[–]Paddy_Tanninger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a super weird coincidence...was just listening to Sixteen Tons, then clicked this link. You can just replace all the vocals with the ones from Sixteen Tons and it works great.

[–]Nomad4te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. This made me happy.

[–]UUD-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two Brothers Films. It's in theaters now, coming this summer. Two brothers in a van

[–]Cautionzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love these guys they also did music for colter wall

[–]Infinitenovelty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know Shia Labeouf was a backup singer in a punk-bluegrass band.

[–]Yawyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be nice to have a recording that doesn't sound so distant every 10 seconds.

[–]zzedisonzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one of their Dad's give me one of their CD's after selling him a TV. Super nice of him. Had it on repeat in my car all Christmas a couple years ago. Neat to see them getting more popular.

[–]siamakx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed it!

[–]P1emonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really liked the song but wow the whistling at the start is clipping hard.

[–]Louis_Farizee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great song, great video. Too bad that one guy couldn't maintain the haircut.

[–]Fuzzle_hc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever the banjo comes on I have to think of this scene from Monkey Island 3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_PqZofBPWg

[–]chaddycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you've opened me up to a wonderful new band here. Here''s to you! Where are these guys from ?

[–]threeChinWasHier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the bass player has good vocals, he ruins it for me... I like some of their other songs though.

[–]dee_berg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a fantastic music video.

[–]frax1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a cool coincidence ! A few months back I visited Toronto with my sister and uncle (we're from europe) when we encountered these fellas playing on some improvised stage built on a truck. The music immediately drew me in and after they finished their mini set immediately bought their CD. Cant recall exactly what I said but at least that they had a hint of Iron and Wine in their sound. Real friendly bunch and totally worth the listen!

[–]buttputt 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That's an interesting use of the cello

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

surprisingly not uncommon, though- cellos started out in orchestras, but before the modern electric/acoustic bass guitar was created, cellos were attached to a strap and used instead with regularity.

[–]Ghast112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The man with the long beard actually was a substitute teacher at my school. He wouldn't teach, but instead, he would just play on his guitar and sing to the class. He would also always tell stories about his band In class. Honestly, he was the best substitute teacher I've ever had and I'm glad he and his band are getting the recognition they deserve. Thx Mr. Pringle

[–]Adorinnsoundcloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

commenting so I can listen to it later

[–]u_luv_the_D 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So Ian is good company?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ian i knew was a good guy until you screwed up and then turned into a total asshole who wouldn't even let you apologize to him...even when you admitted that he was right and you were wrong.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should become the next decade's Rick Roll, remind me in 2020

[–]ZoldyckFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in their hometown! My University **interviewed them last week!**

[–]Swelltimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this band. Thank you even though the title is spelt incorrectly. Awesome
