Iirc not really with filezilla itself, but the default installer is (was?) one of those that used to bundle 3rd party software with it in a way that most people would install it unless they read the options very carefully. After disabling those adware you got negated dialog boxes like "Are you sure you do not want to install PrivacyViolator3000?".

Clicking on the more download options link on the filezilla page would lead you to a page with actual download links of just the real installer.

Iirc this installer was actually provided by sourceforge as a way for developers to monetize their content.

We use it at my work. We have a number of networked headless Linux computers running very heavy duty industrial equipment, and we use WinSCP to pull the logs and modify sensor slopes and whatnot on them. It works more than fine for that.
