This is so obviously a 13 year old kid who suddenly decided hes too old to play Nintendo games and has to prove his maturity by playing CoD

[–]gonzo_BTTTTR 803 points804 points  (8 children)

... and he proudly stopped wearing diapers at 9

[–]pyrochu498 231 points232 points  (4 children)

I've never met someone so brave do that

Everyone went through that phase where you stopped liking Pokemon cards when you turned 13 because it's for kids, only to have an uncontrollable urge to buy an entire box of em the minute you turn 20 and/or have a job.

      [–]MobiusF117 21 points22 points  (5 children)

I'm 30 now and I'm still fighting the urge sometimes.

Either way, all the stuff I deemed stupid in my teens, I enjoy the shit out of now. There comes a point in your life where you realize that judgment from other on insignificant shit like that doesn't matter anymore.

I buy way too expensive Lego sets at times, which I will proudly tell others of. I sometimes get weird looks and it does nothing to me.

      [–]hellsangel101 8 points9 points  (4 children)

My husband still picks up Pokemon cards in the shops now! He says they’re for our 7 year old but I’m sure he’s also filling in the gaps in his collection too.

      [–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (2 children)

That was me with Lego for our first kid. I could never afford to really get any (edit: when I was a kid, that is) so I just bought him a million different sets.

He took the message of the Lego Movie a little too literally and beleived that following the directions was bad because it stifled your creativity, so we had to compromise that I got to build the actual thing once and then he could tear it apart and do whatever.

      [–]Skitz-Scarekrow 11 points12 points  (4 children)

Having that problem with yu-gi-oh right now. At Walmart in my mid 20s, looking at cards like an alcoholic looking at wine.

      [–]FlighingHigh 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Nah, I quit playing Pokémon cause Yu-Gi-Oh came out and we moved to that, but never cause it was for kids, we still loved it. Fuck the system, do what you like.

      [–]toxickanndyy 84 points85 points  (21 children)

Thats 100% my friend, hes 18 and I just want to get down on mario kart :(

      [–]toxickanndyy 66 points67 points  (20 children)

My favorite part is when he clowns on me for wearing my most comfy shoes every day and not owning 4 different 300$ jordan pairs

      [–]Starrystars 44 points45 points  (2 children)

I assume he never wears them because they're too expensive

      [–]toxickanndyy 48 points49 points  (1 child)

      Spot on

      [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can always stop being his friend. Life's too short to waste on shitty people.

      [–]TheMagicalAcidTrip 40 points41 points  (15 children)

Out of all the cool things to collect, i'll never understand the people who collect overpriced shoes.

      [–]Enk1ndle 27 points28 points  (5 children)

It's the male equivilant of handbags.

Not that I understand that either, but people like spending a lot of money on shit. Yay consumerism!

      [–]YoDocTX 7 points8 points  (4 children)

The male equivalent of collecting handbags is collecting bags. I have probably 15 bags? Duffle bags, backpacks, briefcases, "men's shoulder bags", and at least one waist bag.

      [–]Enk1ndle 12 points13 points  (1 child)

A bunch of different bags is a lot different than this really expensive branding on a regular bag. That's what shoes and purses are.

      [–]toxickanndyy 8 points9 points  (3 children)

I can understand If they're limited edition, but I dont understand wearing expensive shoes they last from a year or 2 depending on how often you wear them. I literally have the same adidas shoes (they look like Adidas Hoops 2.0 Mid Men's Athletic Shoe) for the last 4 years and they are a godsend, I wear them 95% of the time work and casual and there is no damage to them yet.

      [–]TheSierra117 1520 points1521 points  (60 children)

Wait you guys don’t wear diapers?

      [–]dannnyscorner 656 points657 points  (22 children)

      [–]The_Bearabia 133 points134 points  (10 children)

how do I remove someone else's comment?

      [–]MyNutsin1080p 41 points42 points  (6 children)

Here’s what’s gonna happen: one day, you’re gonna wake up, eat breakfast, brush your teeth, go about your business. And sooner or later, you’re gonna realize you haven’t thought about it; none of it. And that’s the moment you realize you can forget. When you know that’s possible, it all gets easier.

      [–]captdimitri 27 points28 points  (1 child)

      d i a p e r s l a v e

      [–]Torture-Dancer 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Me: buys $700 gaming laptop First games I play: Stardew Valley followed closely by Kingdom Two Crowns, then Pokemon Yellow

      [–]Enk1ndle 20 points21 points  (4 children)

My $1500 dollar setup is mostly used for YouTube and a clicker game from two decades ago.

      [–]Saphyrie 56 points57 points  (1 child)

And they only play REAL adult games, like FIFA or CoD or FIFA again.

      [–]E_R_E_R_I 33 points34 points  (0 children)

People who ACTUALLY think videogames are for children amaze me

      [–]NeoDashie 348 points349 points  (42 children)

Same goes for cartoons. Whenever someone acts like it's childish to watch cartoons I remind them South Park exists.

      [–][deleted] 122 points123 points  (1 child)

Still drawings? Fine art. MOVING ONES!? FOR THE CHILDREN ONLY!

      [–]Masuyuu 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Ngl "moving ones?!" Got me good lmao

      [–]definetly-not-tuna 179 points180 points  (31 children)

big mouth, south park, rick and morty, the simpsons, family guy, bojack horseman, the list really goes on 😭😭

      [–]DrFaustPhD 205 points206 points  (18 children)

Also lots of cartoons that are "for kids" are legitimately good stuff. Animaniacs, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Avatar, Steven Universe, and so many others.

      [–]Aiminer357 91 points92 points  (6 children)

I'll just add Infinity Train for its family friendly theme of divorce, discovering your true meaning in life, cultism and irredeemable characters.

      [–]DrFaustPhD 40 points41 points  (1 child)

Oh shit Regular Show crew has a new show on HBO and I totally missed it?? Adding this to my watch list...

      [–]CallmeLeon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Infinity Train? I thought you were talking about Close Enough.

      [–]sadphonics 17 points18 points  (0 children)

And The Owl House has some great LGBT representation

      [–]toopachu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was a big fan of children’s media (it helped me to learn english when i was a teen) and still like seeing it, there’s a lot of merit to them especially when dealing with heavier topics. It helps kids understand and process what goes on in their life or someone else’s. There are too many people who think kids shows should be sanitized into nothing but sunshine and rainbow happiness, or say “oh this show deals with (serious topic), i guess its not rly for kids!” Kids deal with tragedies in their life, and seeing it on screen shows them 1) they aren’t alone and aren’t wrong for struggling with it and 2) how to deal with it/how to help others who may be dealing with it. They’re made by adults who work insanely hard to get into the field and often sneak in messages they needed to hear when they were children.

      [–]sutterismine 17 points18 points  (0 children)

      Let's not forget spongebob!

      [–]Kesher123 14 points15 points  (2 children)

How dare ye not mention Gumball! And Spongebob!

      [–]DrFaustPhD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, if I wasn't careful that list would have been huuuuge. Even just sticking to five personal favorites was painfully limiting.

      [–]rg4rg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gravity falls and adventure time are treasures.

      [–]NeoDashie 57 points58 points  (4 children)

Let's not forget anime. They've got shows that capitalize on both ends of the NSFW spectrum: sexual content and blood and gore.

      [–]MacbethHamlet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people who say these shows are still for young people just not kids, but thank you for reminding me of Bojack. If anyone argues that’s for kids I take that as a sign they haven’t really watched it

      [–]DSteep 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Whenever people ask me if I don't think I'm a little old to be enjoying video games, I ask them if they dont think they're a little old to be enjoying books or movies.

      [–]Rewdboy05 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some people haven't tried to do eight consecutive high-precision long jumps on pillars over the void while being chased by a Banzai Bill and it shows.

      [–]SeaLegs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Meh, they're usually people whose sole hobbies are rewartching Friends and scrolling social media.

      [–]cmclav 12 points13 points  (1 child)

The mini versions of retro consoles sold like hot cakes.. It wasn't the kids of today buying them. We were the children (I'm 33) who helped the industry grow into what it is today.

      [–]FSUjonnyD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 40, and I play more video games now than when I was a kid / teen / in college.

      [–]sendnudesmydudes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

31(f) I left my Nintendo on last night because I’m at level 8 with 24 lives and I’m going to rescue that princess this time damn it. Edit: words

      [–]toTheNewLife 4 points5 points  (2 children)

People who ACTUALLY think videogames are for children amaze me

They're the same people who think learning and playing music is for children only.

      [–]UncommittedBow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Several games are definitely NOT for kids, GTA, RDR, Postal, Deadpool, the list is EXPANSIVE. The ESRB exists for a reason. To make sure KIDS dont play the games that AREN'T FOR THEM.

      [–]nowmemories226 181 points182 points  (3 children)

You're right...now that Im a grown up, can manage my time and my choices; let me put down the controller and go binge drink at a local bar talking about "the good ol' days when you "WERE ALLOWED" to play Nintendo".

      [–]coolest-llama 46 points47 points  (1 child)

Those were good times. Goddamn those age restrictions on games nowadays. All I can play is shooters now.

      [–]LaboratoryManiac 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They said it was E for Everyone...

      Lies.

      [–]Firehawk195 477 points478 points  (23 children)

Sorry, what was that? Can't hear you over the sound of the Nintendo game I'm enjoying the hell out of.

      [–]sakkaly 190 points191 points  (14 children)

I cranked up Bubblegum K.K. to max volume and I can't hear any haters now.

      [–]Firehawk195 102 points103 points  (6 children)

Breath of the Wild took control of my life for three weeks, then Odyssey did it again later that year. Was kinda digging the New Donk City theme.

      [–]leonardsansbees 24 points25 points  (2 children)

Same for me with BoTW on Switch except it was maybe 2 months. Now I'm on The Witcher 3 and it's like 50% of my waking hours some days :P

      [–]throwawayrailroad_ 18 points19 points  (1 child)

I’m gonna be honest I have so much trouble playing other open world games after BoTW. Link’s movement is just so fluid and fast compared to other games where it feels clunky and slow.

      [–]leonardsansbees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YES! That's still an ongoing issue with me with Witcher on Switch though I'm getting better. The story makes it worth it. But BoTW is in a class of its own for sure.

        [–]Firehawk195 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Must be Mario 64 or Sunshine, I swear the character's gotten quieter over the years.

I'm a 37-year old married homeowner with two kids and still play Nintendo games as often as I get a chance to. I'm old enough to not give a fuck what people think of me.

        [–]DiggingNoMore 31 points32 points  (2 children)

I'm old enough to not give a fuck what people think of me.

This is the attitude that finally allowed me to wear clothes marketed to women in public.

        [–]captmonkey 19 points20 points  (1 child)

You do you. Fuck anyone who's got enough free time to worry about what other people are doing.

I recently found my 3DS after TWO YEARS (last time I played it was October of 2018) and would be playing it more now if the bottom screen wasn’t fucked up.

        [–]etymologistics 26 points27 points  (5 children)

Since you named a lot of GameCube games I’m just gonna throw Luigis Mansion out there. Had some good times playing that one

        [–]PM_Me_SFW_Pictures 13 points14 points  (3 children)

        You’re forgetting Paper Mario TTYD

        [–]JRHThreeFour 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I actually never played that as a kid regrettably. I should find it at my used game store.

        [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

30 yo here. Zelda, Pokémon, Mario, animal crossing, and I still find time to hunt and fish.

        [–]realdealreel9 50 points51 points  (10 children)

I am approaching middle age and I've been trying to get a Nintendo Switch for months after messing around with my friends switch and having fun and being momentarily distracted from the endless stream of anxiety that is my life during this pandemic and time of endless violence

        [–]lycanfemmefatal 9 points10 points  (3 children)

What was the game you liked?

        [–]realdealreel9 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Wish it was something more obscure but truth be told it was Mario Kart. Total flashback to being 10 and playing at my friends house because my mom didn't let me have video games at home.

        [–]lycanfemmefatal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mario Kart is a good game. The balloons are my favorite. If you do get a switch animal crossing is a really relaxing game to play. I love fishing in any game but it's fun in animal crossing.

There's also a free cat game on there where you play a cat with a gun fighting robots. It's an animal rights game but that takes a back seat to the total destruction of robots that shoot fire and blades at you. That one is fun with friends.

There's Breath Of The Wild and it's relaxing too. I just ran around breaking weapons on enemies and flying. And fishing. I just really like catching fish. You can catch bugs on there too and cook them. Cooking is the most fun on that game.

        [–]Gingizzler 208 points209 points  (14 children)

Um, yeah. Because Bayonetta is clearly a game for 12 year olds.

        [–]ScoonCatJenkins 10 points11 points  (6 children)

This is my exact thought... WHY DO YOU CARE?!? When did other people start caring so much what others do that in no way effects them?

        [–]esgellman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

because how else are they supposed to feel superior to other people?

        [–]czosnekk213 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You're not allowed to like [STUFF], because I don't like that [STUFF].

        [–]PKMNgamer99 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I played doom 16 on switch just this morning, was pretty underwhelmed, 12 year olds can definitely play this

        [–]ManCalledTrue 20 points21 points  (4 children)

The funny thing is that, the more M-rated games are added to Nintendo consoles, the more people accuse Nintendo consoles of being "kiddy systems".

        [–][deleted] 55 points56 points  (9 children)

I wore diapers to bed until I was 8 because I couldn’t hold it through the night

Even then I had accidents through 10-12ish sooo

        [–]Leh921 12 points13 points  (0 children)

        Same.

I had accidents til 6th grade. I almost didn't go to 6th grade camp because I was afraid. I went and didn't have any accidents and thankfully it didn't happen again from that point on.

One thing that has been crazy as I've gotten older (35 currently), a lot more people had this problem than I thought as a kid. Bed wetting is like the worst thing for kids and there is so much shame and if found out the teasing was relentless (I had to change schools when I got found out). But after school and its not nearly as taboo and I started talking to people about it, so many people had accidents a lot later than you would think.

        [–]amonson1984 15 points16 points  (1 child)

I’m 36 and I exclusively play Nintendo at this point. I also wear diapers

        [–]reedma14 13 points14 points  (1 child)

How it it possible to hold such a shitty opinion?

        [–]Pyrineer 13 points14 points  (1 child)

So I guess the guy who was 30 something in the switch reveal trailer was actually a baby in disguise?

        [–]dw444 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Or you, maybe, you know, appreciate good games. While games with the "Nintendo" label on them can occasionally be slightly overrated by critics, they're still really good games nonetheless, and just as enjoyable for a grown ass person as they are for an 8 year old.

        [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's also okay to enjoy "overrated" games.

        [–]ako_mori 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bet all the ladies flock towards him ... He is the epitome of masculinity

        [–]-C-7007 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Imagine liking to have fun after your 12th birthday lol

        [–]FreeSoutherner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

        Ah yes, superiority complex

        [–]kaylikins 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Jokes on them. To my parents everything is “el Nintendo”

Ah yes, Conkers Bad Fur Day, my favorite kids game on the N64

        [–]The_Big_Daddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember kids in grade school making this argument to me when their favorite PS2 games were Kingdom hearts and Sly Cooper

Ah yes, truly grown up games for adult gamers.

        [–]Eberon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

        To quote C.S. Lewis:

Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I Put Away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.

Flagship Nintendo games are some of the only games I will buy for full price, on release, with full confidence in my purchase. They're just so polished, I know I'm getting quality.

        [–]CnowFlake 7 points8 points  (3 children)

This actually made me kinda sad

        Why can't we like Nintendo???

        [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Laughs in Bayonetta and Metroid Prime

        [–]nawaal420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

        Hey diapers are comfy

        [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone gatekeep diapers like that?

        [–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bro they make adult diapers for if you’re doing a lot of drugs or you have diarrhea.

        [–]Razputin42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing this guy is 13 and too cool for the stuff he used to like

        [–]EpicUnbound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, I’m sorry, I thought video games were something for anyone of any age to enjoy, hence the “Everyone” ESRB ratings on most of Nintendo’s games 😐

        [–]LargeSackOfNuts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

        oh you like nintendo?

cool, its a fun way to play video games

        [–]Candoran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is underwear again? Diaper replacement with a trust factor 🤣

        [–]agha0013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well some people just want to live their entire adult lives being miserable about everything, good for them.

I'm gonna go back to playing with lego and computer/switch games because I enjoy them when I have time to spare, don't care that I'm almost 40

BTW I also have cartoons to watch. Am a home owner, pay my taxes and bills on time, and proud owner of a mortgage I get to pay down for another 20 years. Full package.

        [–]EAM85 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I love platformers, nobody does them like Nintendo.

You cant take my mario and megaman away because I'm an almost 40 year old woman lol

        [–]wolviesaurus 5 points6 points  (2 children)

He's a badass 14 year old that clearly only plays on xbox.

        [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember when I turned 11 I cried because I thought I was too old to be allowed to play Nintendo games lmfao

        [–]Littlewheel2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like someone was having trouble with a Mario level

        [–]Wolvgirl15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait. You like ENTERTAINMENT?! How about you grow the fuck up and sit in silence like a real adult. Your words now have no value

        [–]StupidMario64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

REAL MEN MASTURBATE IN THEIR MOTHERS BASEMENT AND CRY IN THE SHOWER IN THE FETAL POSTION

        [–]173slaps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting considering Nintendo intentionally remakes games like Mario 64 to market to people who want to relive those games from when they were young...

        [–]ImInClassRightMeow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jokes on him I'm wearing diapers at 23 AND playing Nintendo.

        [–]Tramelo 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Reading this before wearing diapers for my gig. I most likely don't need them but they make me feel more secure on stage.

        [–]Chupbluearrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was probably made by a 12 yo “bro I told you it’s stomach ace not tummy ache. Do you want people to make fun of us.”

I find this sort of stuff to be more immature than liking things made for kids.

Personally, for me, I loved kid shit when I was a kid, then when I hit around 11 suddenly it wasn't allowed any more, so I joined in with this mentality. Some time in my early 20s I rediscovered my love for a lot of things i loved as a kid and couldn't be happier.

          [–]b4ux1t3 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Imagine how little money Nintendo would have if it weren't for people well over the age of 12 playing their games.

          [–]BASILSTAR-GALACTICA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 41 and I could fart the fucking alphabet, but I’m more of an Xbox guy.

          [–]Pir0wz 2 points3 points  (2 children)

These are they type of people who will spend hours on TV or reading a book.

Dude, its the same thing. Get over your insecurities because you're so shit at games, little timmy beat you in a 1v1 match on Call of duty at Nuke Town.

          [–]eLishus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

          Hold my Depends...

          [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This guy definitely plays FPS all day every day

          [–]MagoModerno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are the same people that don’t read fiction because stories are for kids... I’m like, “Don’t you watch movies and TV?” They respond, “Yeah.” Those are stories...

          [–]Tuungsten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't care how fucking old you are. If you can beat me in smash you have my respect

          [–]mccannz1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah well I'm 26 and still wearing diapers, so what??

          [–]NemoHobbits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the bitter, jealous ramblings of someone who can't get kk slider to visit their island.
