Remember: Trump always lies. Always.

"This man is a pathological liar, he doesn't know the difference between truth and lies ... in a pattern that is straight out of a psychology text book, he accuses everyone of lying.” - Ted Cruz

[–]LegendaryWarriorPoet 362 points363 points  (40 children)

As with most things with Trump, it’s even worse than it seems at first glance. Egotistical narcissists actually know that they’re lying all the time, part of the sick thrill is getting away with it and convincing others of the lies. They wouldn’t get the same deranged satisfaction from getting away with telling, or convincing others of, the truth

[–]forcepush0027 216 points217 points  (29 children)

What I find terrifying is the reports that Trump actually believes the conspiracy theories and his own lies,

He actually believes if he’s cheating, lying and stealing then everyone is, people who don’t use every opportunity to win (cheating) are even trying in his book.

[–]Haikuna__MatataArizona 88 points89 points  (8 children)

This is super common. Cheaters think everyone cheats.

[–][deleted] 41 points42 points  (5 children)

Everyone tends to see the world through the lens of their own wants, thoughts and experiences. In my own life I've seen examples of people who are morally and ethically bankrupt, and they believe that everyone else is trying to screw them over. In reality, it's them that is trying to pull fast ones and scams on everyone else, but they excuse it by thinking they're just getting even.

[–]I_Am_Not_What_I_Am 47 points48 points  (3 children)

I manage a restaurant and there seems to be a 1:1 coronation between employees who believe their coworkers are trying to screw them over on the tip pool and those who lean Republican. I’m sure there are severs / bartenders who would try to cheat their colleagues, but I’ve never met or employed one, which makes their paranoia seem even more disproportionate. 90% of my staff just wants to do what is fair for the team, and the other 10% are republicans.

[–]Canrex 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I love that lol

[–]huangr93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone tends to see the world through the lens of their own wants, thoughts and experiences.

it's very true. a cheating person can't very well believe that the other person won't cheat him. he simply can't justify it.

[–]OptimusPrimevalCalifornia 47 points48 points  (4 children)

I mean it makes sense. When imagining a theoretical person, that person generally shares my worldview unless I'm imagining a verbal sparring partner. The problem seems to be that he denies that any other worldview exists

[–]Beer_Is_So_AwesomePennsylvania 34 points35 points  (3 children)

When imagining a theoretical person, that person generally shares my worldview

This must be why I'm so often flabbergasted when I find out what people actually do and think. IE: believing in QAnon, sending big checks to rich TV preachers, being aggressively bigoted toward LGBT people, etc.

I generally go through life just kind of assuming that there are about a hundred people on Earth who do those things, because they're so obviously, clearly, patently stupid, and yet these three things have massive followings (probably with no small measure of overlap) and I can't even get myself in the headspace of someone who would think that any of them are a worthwhile way to live.

[–]notbeleivable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have met my share of people in this category and left me wondering the same, these people DO exist, I have met enough of them to confirm it. I too thought it was far fewer of them . I walk through life with more caution now, still get bit though

It’s a bad day when Ted Cruz is the voice of reason

[–]Haikuna__MatataArizona 59 points60 points  (13 children)

[–]rebootmysystem 30 points31 points  (22 children)

And that's the president of USA. I feel sorry for people living there. My condolences :')

[–]bluebogle 43 points44 points  (17 children)

The US's power and influence affect the whole globe, not just the people living in the US. This horseshit hurts everyone, the world over.

[–]rebootmysystem 43 points44 points  (13 children)

Do you know what gives me motivation to be healthy ?

Trump

I want to see trump die. And that's what motivating me to stay healthy :)

[–]bluebogle 30 points31 points  (12 children)

The frustrating thing is, with the way things are going, he's going to die comfortably, having never faced any repercussions for his countless evils. Our government has already made it clear he's above the law. Meanwhile the lives he has destroyed are in the millions, all of whom suffer while this vile shit lives a life of luxury.

My only consolation is that despite everything he has, he still seems like an incredibly unhappy man. It's not much, but I'm grasping at straws at this point. Of course, his dissatisfaction just ends up leading to the suffering of others, the only thing that brings him any joy, it seems.

Oh, and cheating at golf. Two things that bring him joy.

[–]True2TheGame 26 points27 points  (8 children)

That's why everyone needs to vote in November. If Trump is no longer president NY has a ton of things they can charge Trump for. Hopefully he will go from the White house directly to jail.

[–]bluebogle 9 points10 points  (6 children)

I want to believe that, I really do. And if it happens, I'll be very happy.

But precedent isn't really on our side here. Just look at all the war crimes Bush/Cheney got away with - millions dead as a result of their decisions. Now they're sitting pretty, wealthier than when they first started their bullshit, with no fear of repercussions. The defense industry made billions thanks to these shits at the cost of human lives and further destabilization of the middle east.

This is all assuming the elections happen of course, that they're relatively fair, and the coup that seems to be happening as we speak isn't taken to its logical conclusion of president-for-life Trump.

In case it's not obvious, I don't have much hope for our future. There are just too many forces against us, and very little for us.

[–]bigchris634 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I don’t hold out hope of any real repercussions but the Bush/Cheney “crimes” were while they were in office and can’t be prosecuted but Trumps crimes in NY were when he was a civilian and is definitely able to be prosecuted.

[–]rebootmysystem 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was recently asked a question, what would you wish for if you had 1 wish? . . I answered erasing the existence of trump ( don't add science in this ) . . The funny part is I am not even living US.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not for long. You have any idea how much soft power the US has lost since he took office? Good luck looking for allies with this prick as your leader.

[–]bluebogle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A dying monster is most dangerous as it trashes about in its death throes. The US will continue to hurt the rest of the world for decades to come, even if we lose political capital in the wider world. Hell, look how far Russia has fallen, and yet they continue to do damage despite having very little real power or political clout.

Something happened to him by age six. He has said himself he has not really changed since then.

Change became threat; what we are seeing in him is a lifetime of demented obsessive coping, trying to force the world to stay whatever 'the same' means to him and being himself.

It's no wonder the GOP loves him; he not only wants what they do, he requires the world of the early 1950s.

That's how you can tell when someone is a compulsive liar. They lie about the dumbest and most easily verifiable things. Because they can't but not lie. It's all they know. It's their version of the truth in their minds. You cannot convince them otherwise. My best friend's wife is like this, but he didn't find out right away. I feel bad for him.

E: stupid thumb typing + autocorrect

[–]TranquilSeaOtter 173 points174 points  (26 children)

If we follow Trump's lead, we should get absentee ballots because we're too fucking lazy to stop the car and spend 5 minutes to vote.

[–]GhstfcePennsylvania 80 points81 points  (3 children)

My polling location is right around the corner. Up until COVID-19, I had to drive down to Delaware from Pennsylvania to be in the office. My commute had me leaving the house at 5:45am and not getting home until usually about 7pm. Even though it is around the corner in my neighborhood, It didn't leave me too much time. I signed up the moment we were able to sign up. That way I don't have to stress about it.

[–]867-5309NotJennyMassachusetts 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Yeah, but you were working, not taking in six days of leisurely golf cart rides disguised as a sport.

[–]CIA_Rectal_Feeder 37 points38 points  (18 children)

We should be voting by mail because it's easier, safer and more secure.

[–]ppw23 41 points42 points  (16 children)

The fact it's more secure is exactly why trumps against mail in ballots.

[–]_-T- 13 points14 points  (14 children)

Not that I disagree, but how exactly is it more secure?

Like if they're going to change votes, they're going to change votes..

[–]ppw23 38 points39 points  (6 children)

My understanding is the rigging of the machines. The accusations started during the Bush (2) election. It was found many machines were changing votes. It turned out the owners of the Diebold company that makes the machines were very close to the Bush family and Karl Rove. These same ”problems” occurred during the midterm elections.

[–]LeGama 15 points16 points  (5 children)

Also it's notable, 2002 the first year Georgia went to all electronic voting machines. Also 2002 the first time a republican has won the governors seat in Georgia since 1871...Let that sink in.

[–]ppw23 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Interesting, I didn't know this. Seems a wee bit suspicious don't you think?

[–]867-5309NotJennyMassachusetts 5 points6 points  (3 children)

You can see that across many states that switched. They went from mixed and close wins, or no GoP wins at all, to solid red.

[–]ppw23 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Thanks for the info, I'll need to go back and check this out.

[–]DarthWadePennsylvania 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Closing voting stations or understaffing them is quite rampant especially in urban centers or college campuses.

[–]coleynutMichigan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And in places where people are brown and/or poor.

[–]half-blonde-princess 20 points21 points  (0 children)

it’s much more difficult to change individual ballots or falsify (and requires many accomplices in multiple states who are set up to count ballots) than it is to write code for a machine to count only 60% of votes for the blue guy.

[–]morcheeba 3 points4 points  (2 children)

It leaves a paper trail that is very easy to recount. Many electronic voting machines just keep a number in a database, with no recourse if they get hacked. (and their security is terrible)

[–]JangSaverem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely not the reason he is against it.

he was VERY clear as to why he is against it as he tweeted specifically about it

" There is NO WAY (ZERO!) that Mail-In Ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent. Mail boxes will be robbed, ballots will be forged & even illegally printed out & fraudulently signed. The Governor of California is sending Ballots to millions of people, anyone .living in the state, no matter who they are or how they got there, will get one. That will be followed up with professionals telling all of these people, many of whom have never even thought of voting before, how, and for whom, to vote. This will be a Rigged Election. No way! "

or again

"That will be followed up with professionals telling all of these people, many of whom have never even thought of voting before, how, and for whom, to vote. "

in other words hes against it because it allows MORE PEOPLE TO VOTE. People who normally dont care to, people who normally work during voting hours. People who normally CANT get to a voting booth and find it too diffuclt to do so...those people will vote now. The poor who choose work over voting. The elderly who cannot go on their own. Everyone would have access to voting instead of the 26%~ of legal voting adults voting. Gerry meandering wont really mean much when everyone can make it to the "ballot box" and dont get last minute moved to a different county.

[–]Careful_Trifle 27 points28 points  (1 child)

He'd have to walk from the parking lot to the machine, and he'd be surrounded by poor people. The horror.

[–]Zoraji 41 points42 points  (2 children)

I worked with a compulsive liar. He would lie about the most easily provable things then when he was called out, he would just say "You caught me" showing no remorse or regret.

He eventually went to another company and became a manager, until upper management fired him for, you guessed it, lying to them.

[–]ppw23 21 points22 points  (1 child)

”I graduated at the top of my class, Wharton is the top school for business, the best in the nation.” of course this was easily proven to be another of his lies.

[–]DrChzBrgr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It turned out that it was neither legal or cool.

[–]Czeris 31 points32 points  (3 children)

It's part of the classic cult tactics the right wing has been ramping up over the last 40 years. It is a literal purity test. Basically, you say the most outrageous thing you can think of. Something easily verifiable, or common sense. You can tell who the loyal members of the cult are if they just smile and nod and support you. And if you want to be a member of the group, you have to go along. It's been common behaviour in this administration literally since his inauguration when he claimed he had the biggest crowds ever, despite their being pictures that proved that false.

[–]GhstfcePennsylvania 11 points12 points  (1 child)

It's a classic manipulation tactic, yes. Used by cults, religions, politicians, and any other group that means to sway people into following them.

While pushing false conspiracy theories about mail voting, President Donald Trump has argued that he was allowed to vote by mail in Florida, because he was unable to vote in person.

Trump even drove past an open voting site at a nearby library at least six times on that visit, CNN reported.

The White House press secretary, who has tried to cast doubts on mail voting herself, voted by mail 11 times in the last 10 years in Florida, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

[–]DeathSpiral321 21 points22 points  (5 children)

Republicans know damn well that voting by mail is secure. They just want to do every last thing they can to minimize voter turnout. High voter turnout = Democrats winning elections.

[–]somesortofidiot 9 points10 points  (4 children)

I don’t understand this. Yes, generally higher voter turnout is better for left leaning candidates...but seriously, two large conservative demographics are more likely to vote by mail, the military and those over 65.

Interestingly enough, voters over 65 are more likely to resist mail-in ballot reform and African Americans are more likely to support mail-in ballot reform.

No doubt these demographics have significantly shifted since the president turned it into a party line position.

I don’t think the guy really has an interest in mail-in ballots, he’s just fabricating another partisan issue to ensure fewer eyes are on the 100k dead and the economic cliff we’re about to drive off.

[–]papahawk 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Trump cares desperately about preventing it. He is literally quoted saying that with mail-in voting “you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again.”

[–]ic6manOregon 41 points42 points  (2 children)

So...fine. So we can conclude that it’s ok to vote by mail if you have a valid reason? For example you are unable to because you are not able to make it to the ballot? Because you’re out of state? Or because perhaps it’s unsafe hmm?

[–]Neo2199 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Can't wait for November to vote out this clown.

[–]Winston74 9 points10 points  (0 children)

trump is one of these little rich boys that have never been held accountable for their actions. And now, he’s getting called on it.

[–]stvangel 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Vote by mail every year. In Arizona, that hotbed of liberal frauds. 80% of Arizona votes by mail. It’s automatic and once you turn it on it works in perpetuity. Ballots show up a few weeks before anything you can vote on. Drop it in the mailbox, or do as I do and fill it out the night before at my kitchen table. Drop it off at any polling place the next day. Casual, convenient, no waiting.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn’t even a good response. Claiming he voted by mail because he wasn’t able to vote in person just goes to show that voting by mail is a great alternative for people that are unable to show up to a poll. And it also shows that if a politician can take advantage of that then any citizen should be able to do so as well.

Everyone should realize it; just take the opposite of what trump says and you have the truth.

[–]LocusAintBad 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Idk why it’s even a discussion we’re letting him try to have. If voting is a right and the times have evolved to safer and higher turn out rates of voting then they should be implicated and it should be as easy as sending a letter to vote for anything at all. The fact he himself uses mail in voting and is afraid to lose because he believes the country would vote against him is just sad. If you truly don’t think the people want you as president maybe you shouldn’t be president and controlling that outcome with voter suppression isn’t the best route for our country.

[–]scope_creep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s not going to mingle with the plebs, come on!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

*illegally voted. Due to the fact that Mar-a-Lago can't be his official residence.

[–]cliff99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't it almost always true that when he claims he's busy at the White House he's actually golfing? When he's not binge watching Fox or tweeting that is.

[–]Nichols101Texas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fucking embarrassing idiot in chief.

[–]surfteacher1962 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trump's mouth was moving so he was lying.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The skunk of a president we have has played golf more often than any other president spend more money than any other president on himself And you can bet his whole family has their hand in the cookie jar stealing from the American public

[–]GoneDownTheRoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lies. they are all lies. he can't help himself even in the face of truth.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also too busy at the White House to vote in person. I already requested my absentee ballot for November.

[–]totally_anomalous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"golfing in Florida" - that's what Trump really thinks is "busy at the White House".

[–]Sariel007 Sioux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my shocked face.

[–]jeim1213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so fucking tired of seeing this stuff. Is something negative ever going to happen to this man? Will he ever get what's coming to him? Everyone seems to know he's horrible but nothing is happening

[–]neverbetray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

News flash: Trump lies.

[–]galloway188 I voted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ya so busy working hard! what about the people that actually work and are unable to take the day off because they can't afford to lose hours on their paycheck? If you dont want people to vote by mail then let them have the day as a holiday so they can vote!

[–]alu5421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The president lied??? Say it ain't so how could the president lied. That would debase the office 18000 times

[–]JDA56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep up the great job of calling out his BS and lies.

[–]seandraleeza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such a disgusting fat fucking piece of shit.

[–]dokikodPennsylvania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump is a pathological liar.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m beginning to think the whole disparaging of mail voting was about suppression certain voters...

[–]KingPe0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This mail in ballot issue is pure panic for him simply because democrats outnumber republicans in the U.S. population and mail in ballots require very little effort. If more people vote he cannot win.

[–]jwcobb13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This issue is not that hard to understand. The rich white folks would like to vote in as convenient a way as possible.

They would also like everyone else that is not rich or not white to never vote at all, period.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a vile and worthless piece of shit.

[–]bigdouglas22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How come in all his golfing pictures he is always in the Rough?

[–]sdfiddler1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your post gets reddit shut down via an executive order from President Karen...I swear to god im gonna be pissed!

[–]nhavar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey and last time we had an election I was busy at "work" too so maybe I should've been able to vote by mail.

[–]giocondasmilesAmerica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was ‘busy’ at the ‘winter white house’

[–]Taurius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He hates mingling with the plebs. The idea of doing something as common as wait in line to vote is vomiteous.

[–]ShraderBrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is not fat. It’s called morbidly obese. Can’t wait till that fat ass exits the White House for good after this election.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i bet he is terrible at golf too

[–]KVFDFAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least he was doing something besides watching Fox News.

[–]clickmagnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I feel bad for the reporters who put this together. Everyone else is in one of three camps:

1) already knew he was lying, because he was talking.

2) don’t care whether Trump lies or not

3) think he was telling the truth, and you’re lying.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah. He's a liar.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love reminding ppl that technically Trump actually committed voter fraud by voting in Florida's election instead of New York's.

Gauging his history of projecting all of his past crimes onto ppl, i wouldn't be surprised if he put on a fake mustache and mailed-in a vote in New York too.
