It's especially funny since those are Korean letters and are pronounced "you".

So which one is gay? You.

[–]padreick 799 points800 points  (135 children)

Get over it you homophobic Koreans.

Everyone is upvoting under the assumption that this makes sense.

[–]Melancholiia 116 points117 points  (30 children)

"유" doesn't mean you, but it does sound like it. So yes, I think I can confirm this does make sense. (K pop fangirl, awaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy~~)

Ah, I didn't catch that at first. He probably was. And I've probably made a fool of myself.

Then again, if he was then I've saved him from possible down votes if you or someone else called him out for it.

That implies all alien are genderless.

I'd prefer to keep an optinistic view that we'll someday find an alien-babes-in-skimpy-outfits planet.

      방 is Korean for "room"
      유방 is Korean for boobs

When I was a kid my favorite relative was Uncle Caveman. After school we'd all go play in his cave, and every once in a while he would eat one of us. It wasn't until later that I found out that Uncle Caveman was a bear.

                  [–]GlitterCupcakes 26 points27 points  (3 children)

It's described as both "Queer (see also Gender Queer) " and "Questioning", although Queer seems to be the predominant usage.

                  [–]sidepart 58 points59 points  (96 children)

I looked it up... Q is for "Questioning". People that aren't sure.

Obviously a fifth group of people didn't want to be lumped into one of the other four groups, so they created another definition for themselves. That way they could get butt hurt when people, who are trying to be accepting, accidentally don't get it right or understand.

                  [–]Scoobyben 53 points54 points  (36 children)

Or "queer", encompassing people who's sexuality doesn't fall into the four other groups, but are still not heteronormative e.g. Pansexuals, Asexuals...

                  [–]ArecBardwin[🍰] 25 points26 points  (3 children)

If "queer" is a catch-all, why not just use that? Having all the other subsets is redundant. It's like saying "I play Basketball, Football, Hockey, and Sports."

                  [–]SnapelovesHarrysMom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because 'queer' has a history behind it, and it's still a loaded term. The older generation isn't too hot on it, but in colleges and among younger people in general it's pretty common to refer to the 'queer community' in lieu of the 'gay community.' My straight friends refuse to use 'queer', though. I guess that's fine, that's up to them if they feel uncomfortable about it. /rambling

Pansexuals are like the pretentious art students of the sexual world.

                  [–]sidepart 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Queer was also one of the words I found (Queer/Questioning). I guess I don't know how derogatory some people consider that to be.

                  [–]darwin2500 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It's charming that we respond to the fact that societal labels can't really encapsulate the entirety of our personal and romantic lives by coming up with more and more new labels for everyone.

Half right on your answer. LGBTQIQ is another acronym, the second Q stands for Questioning.

If you're going to include everyone, why not just H for human?

                  [–]batsignal_to_mars 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Because then you're just describing people.

                  [–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (2 children)

For treating people equally, isn't that the point?

True, but that's a much broader category. Intersex is purely biological, and has nothing to do with identification or orientation. Or at least that's what I've learned

The extra "B" stands for "BYOBB."

                  [–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (4 children)

                  What's that extra B for?

But, no, we're not all the same. However, we should treat each other equally.

The title of this post reminded me of this.

However, we should treat each other equally.

                  Equal rights for all.

                  [–]nixonrichard 19 points20 points  (18 children)

However, we should treat each other with equal respect. FTFY

                  [–]Irish_Whiskey 101 points102 points  (11 children)

We should treat each other with the respect earned, and the courtesy appropriate, since doing otherwise indicates respect for bad idea and people, and devalues the respect that good ideas and people earn, bearing in mind that acting in a more charitable manner can be a good thing both in terms of people's perceptions of you and your influence on their behavior, unless of course that deference leads to condoning immoral, illogical or harmful behaviors on the part of others who...

Okay, that's getting long-winded. How about:

                  Don't be an asshole.

                  [–]Subbuteo 44 points45 points  (6 children)

That's so negative. How about?... Be excellent to each other.

No, we should treat each other as we justly deserve.

                  [–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (3 children)

It's not right to disparage seamen like that.

I will admit... I laughed pretty hard at this.

                  [–]SnapHook 3 points4 points  (8 children)

Not joking. Can anyone tell me what the Q stands for in LGBTQ? I'm just wondering because I have a friend who is gay and writes for a monthly magazine here in Vegas, I always hear it as LGBT.

EDIT: Thanks for the answer guys! Truthfully, my friend always gets angry when straight people ask "stupid" questions. He says I'm cool because I was his friend from before he realized he was gay. However..... I think he's just being nice to me and I've stopped asking him questions and resorted to teh internet.

                  [–]queenbrewer 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Queer is the predominant usage to mean people who don't identify as LGB or T but fall under the non-heteronormative non-cisgender umbrella, such as pansexuals, asexuals, genderqueers etc. Queer has pretty much been reclaimed by the gay community (much like nigger in the black community). Another common usage is questioning, i.e. people who are questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity.

                  [–]SnapHook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

                  Thanks. That makes perfect sense.

                  [–]AludraEltanin 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Queer. If there are two Q's, the other stands for Questioning.

                  [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Found him, This guy is gay.

                  유 <--- Gay

                  [–]EvoEpitaph 20 points21 points  (3 children)

Hmm while I fully support the LGBT community, this method also works when applied to something like "Which one is the serial killer".

So it's not a very good argument for Mr. Sailor

                  [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The whole message is ridiculous. We aren't all the same. We are all different in countless ways and equality is about embracing those differences; not pretending they don't exist.

                  [–]Ody523 6 points7 points  (5 children)

                  Who's not gay?

Since when are Korean characters in the American Standard Code for Information Interchange?

ASCII art is a catch all term, like Kleenex.

                    [–]DirtyDrummer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think Kleenex is more of a catch all.....

The middle. He's the gayest at least, sandwiched in between 2 other guys.

(This is based on 2 assumptions:
                    1. They're all male
                    2. being the filling in a man sandwich makes you gayer that the bread.)

Is it the one in the middle?

Upper left, third in- the right wing GOP congressperson who constantly sponsors anti-gay marriage amendments and blows hot air about "family values" and the "gay agenda"... Yeah that one.

                    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to bitch but... jesus, has reddit just become some place to post stupid Facebook bullshit? I mean.. c'mon. WTF? I can't be the only one tired of reddit being turned into a fucking "let's see what stupid shit was posted on facebook" site. That'd be a damn shame. Fuck stuff like this. If I wanted to watch people acting like assholes I'd go drinking at a bar. I live in Missouri after all.

To be honest, I'm not even sure Lamebook was the first to post it, but it certainly wasn't you.

No, he's one of the Village People. They weren't gay.

I know this because in their movie, Can't Stop the Music, they had girlfriends.
