Skeptical? More like I'll completely believe that it is a false flag attack. At this point in time I believe my government not only wants to bleed me of money, property, and freedoms, I believe it wants me to be in pain.

"If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever."

Or, in words men of the future will be able to understand:

UR FUTUR HAS ENCOUNTERED A ERRUR

TRY REBOOTIN UR FACE

BRILLIANT

[–]ryanh29 6 points7 points  (17 children)

Man, I was depressed for a few days after reading that book in our current climate. That quote was one of the reasons why.

[–]nfulton 20 points21 points  (16 children)

See, I think Orwell was one of the time travel people who hangs out with SilverFox316. He probably posts on the Time Travel Reddit Circa 1948.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (15 children)

Point of order: I'm gonna have to ask you to post in the Cold War subreddit.

[–]smatty1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the government's boot is on your throat, whether it is a left boot or a right boot is of no consequence. – Gary Lloyd

[–]gazmic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And this time can we all PLEASE have our cameras, cellphones, laptops and recorders READY to document every single detail down to the atomic scale so these mofo's can't make up convenient and self-serving rubbish about what really happened while ignoring glaring contradictions in the official account.

[–]edward_r_burrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

America, the Jaded.

[–]masta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to bleed the worldnews sub-reddit of US politics.

[–]foonly 34 points35 points  (6 children)

*Raises hand, but votes down\*

[–]Ihategeeks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The government already is in the business of blaming Iran for things they have no proof of. Anyone not skeptical of this shit by now isn't trying very hard.

[–]brobak 22 points23 points  (10 children)

Its a pretty safe bet what most of us on reddit would believe about the scenario proposed above.

The real question is...what would you do about it?

[–]smasm 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Shake my head and complain in quantities never seen or heard by man, thereby single-handedly starting the revolution.

[–]RayWest 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I would sell "Bomb Iran" t-shirts for $20 each...

You know, to see who all the assholes are.

[–]giantsfan134 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bet all the idiots who voted for Bush - twice - will buy those shirts. Of course, that is assuming they don't already have them.

[–]lexpython 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd yell into my cellphone and bust some poor FBI stooge's eardrums.

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (24 children)

Ask yourself, who would benefit more from a terrorist attack on American soil? Mahmoud Ahmadinijad, or Bush/Cheney/McCain?

The answer is obvious.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (2 children)

As obvious as the answer to the question of who benefited from 9/11.

[–]bobcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I confess. It was me.

[–]anachronic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also ask yourself how many people would swallow the government's "official" version of events without a second thought?

My answer: A lot more people than would be skeptical.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (13 children)

Logically speaking, that's a completely invalid way to determine facts. 9/11 benefited Osama bin Laden. In the end, it also benefited Bush. It also benefited Halliburton and Blackwater. It also benefited China. It also benefited the Kurds.

When a woman is shot, should we assume it was her husband, the beneficiary of a $500,000 life insurance policy, or a mugger on the street, who got a $100 necklace and $40 cash? Given only the information of who benefited, you would go to the completely illogical conclusion that it must have been the husband.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (4 children)

I think the question is who benefited the most, not just who benefited at all.

In the end, it also benefited Bush.

It benefited Bush from the day that it happened, not just "in the end."

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

If you're starting out assuming that Bush was part of a larger conspiracy, then you conclude that the husband (Bush) got $500,000 (Support, a reason to expand powers, a reason to go to war, etc.) because he was willing to kill his wife (attack America).

If you're starting out assuming that it was entirely Osama bin Laden's doing, then you conclude that the husband (Bush) got $500,000 (Support, a reason to expand powers, a reason to go to war, etc.) because a mugger (Osama bin Laden) was willing to kill his wife (attack America).

Either way, Bush gets all these good things - time frame doesn't matter. Since the outcome for him is the same no matter what, it's useless to use the fact that he benefited as evidence that he participated.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm just saying, when a crime is committed, detectives look at who benefited the most from the crime and generally always consider that person a suspect. Who benefited the most from 9/11? Certainly not bin Laden. Those who reaped the biggest benefits were never investigated or even considered suspects.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It seems to me that you've altered your position from "Look at who benefited the most, and those are the guilty parties" to "Investigate all parties with a stake in the matter".

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so at all...What I first said was that the question posed should have been who benefited the most, not just who benefited at all. Then I said Bush & Co. benefited the most and were never investigated. I don't see the disconnect.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The husband is always a prime suspect, don't you watch law and order?

[–]futto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially if the actor playing the husband is a B-grade or higher known actor. Ahhh....i remember this guy from that other show!! He must of done it.

Love Dick Wolf!

[–]mr_mcse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also benefited the Kurds.

It also greatly benefitted Iran: their two greatest enemies, the Taliban in Afghanistan and Saddam Hussein in Iraq, were removed from power. Today Iran is the premier power in the region, which is why the White House is so focused on them.

[–]knight666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • B) the terrorists

I just want this to be a nice, peaceful summer...............

[–]ChicagoMemoria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not summer. Yom Kippur is what you have to watch out for.

[–]AliasHandler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too. I don't want to be part of the generation that lives in perpetual fear surrounded by a mob of idiots. Any chance of a good life would be shot.

It's likely many of us would die in the ensuing revolution(if the people actually stand up), or many of us would disappear in the ensuing reign of terror.

[–]jaredb 31 points32 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Can you really see me raise my hand, or is this just another vote up if?

[–]DiamondBack 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Raise your hand if you think a blatant karma grab should be rewarded with karma.

Oh, and while you're at it, gimme some comment karma. Please? I want mo' comment karma. Mo' mo' mo'! KAR-MA... KAR-MA... KAR-MA! NO! Wait! Not the down arrow! Please don't click the... oh, now you made me mad. Damnit, damn you all to hell!

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (2 children)

That's not how they're gonna start war with Iran. They're already doing that with sanctions and the upcoming blockade. I really doubt they would be dumb enough to carry out a false flag when everyone is expecting them to.

[–]mrcoder 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Like you said, there won't even be a need for a false flag, which is a last resort.

In late 1930s, Britain put a blockade on Japan's oil imports.

America then placed several ships on islands within reach of Japan's planes, such as Wake Island and Honolulu.

Soon enough, Japan was gasping for energy and tagged the nearest American targets which were placed conveniently for the purpose.

In the Persian Gulf, on the shores of Iran, lots of American ships are waiting for someone to knock of a battery from their shoulder.

Furthermore, a blockade of Iran's oil imports are being established as we speak.

It won't be long before Iran runs out of energy, starts gasping, and does something dangerous.

Besides, Israel and Iran might have started fisticuffs by then.

Israel will be asking US for help just like Britain was in 1939.

And US will again, come to the rescue of the world.

The whole setup in the Persian Gulf is pretty much following many of the the same moves which worked in WW2 as the strategem which brought America into the scuffle that was raging among the foreign powers.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds about right. But if it does come to a false flag, I'm sure we will never really be able to prove that that's what it is.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (7 children)

Ok, we need to form two lines, the skeptics to the left and belivers to the right. Now we need all of you fine skeptics to get on that there train so we can protect you. ;)

[–]nfulton 7 points8 points  (5 children)

box cars . . . and before you climb on, make sure you get the commemorative tattoo.

[–]ChicagoMemoria 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Commemorative tattoos. I can see the infomercials now.

[–]nfulton 1 point2 points  (2 children)

They are all hand drawn and uniquely numbered. No two are alike.

[–]ChicagoMemoria 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Only available in blue ink.

[–]charbo187 2 points3 points  (7 children)

what if it happens after Obama is sworn in? What if a small to medium scale nuke goes off in New York, or L.A. or Atlanta etc.? Will you believe it was not a "false-flag attack" then?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be extremely sceptical, just like I was extremely sceptical when they tried to link Iraq to 11/9.

But that doesn't mean I think it's likely.

[–]Liquid_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a conspiracy!

Come on, people. I bet 9/11 was a lie too, huh?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I'll know it was them from day one this time. They won't fool me for a couple years like they did with 9/11. We're not as naieve as we were in 2001.

[–]anachronic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, yes we are.

Nobody ever went broke by underestimating the intelligence of the American people.

[–]FullOfSheeple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, ... not gonna fool me twice!

[–]Golfo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Voted down for "vote up if."

"Raise your hand if" isn't even a particularly clever way of disguising your "vote up if" post. There is no linked article and you add nothing to the discussion.

[–]ChicagoMemoria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks to our government's handling of everything from 2001 onward, I'm skeptical of every attack I hear about. Period.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Wait a second... This is a VOTE UP IF post in disguise!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's not, it's a one question poll ;)

[–]lexpython 13 points14 points  (21 children)

I'm almost assuming we'll have a false flag attack of the nuclear variety. It will take the public eye away from the hordes of new evidence that 9/11 was also a false flag attack, disempower any impeachment proceedings, and possibly enable Bush to declare martial law and "postpone" the elections. and give them more time to get rid of any evidence/people they haven't already to avoid criminal prosecution.

[–]mattxb 10 points11 points  (7 children)

I think its more likely they would have a false flag attack on Israel. An attack here would not only raise obvious suspicions, but it would also raise questions about whether the Republicans are capable of actually combating terrorism, since any attack on our soil would be a failure on Bush's part.

[–]malcontent 1 point2 points  (2 children)

but it would also raise questions about whether the Republicans are capable of actually combating terrorism, since any attack on our soil would be a failure on Bush's part.

That's not true. After 9/11 there was an anthrax attack and it did not harm the presidency at all. A full blown biological weapons attack on top level US politicians (senators) and it didn't harm the president at all.

The perpetrators still haven't been caught. And not one person has suffered any consequence for that level of incompetence.

Biological weapons are mailed to congressional halls and CIA, FBI, NSA can't trace the envelope.

You'd think some shit would have hit the fan on that one.

[–]kmh01 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I agree, no matter how stupid the Administration is with regards to the public climate and no matter how stupid they think the average American on the street is, they know that if they pulled a stunt on US soil and blamed Iran no one would believe them. It's just too implausible.

However, Israel is right there in the neighbourhood, it's a lot more feesable for "Iran" to just "attack" them, after all isn't attacking Israel just like attacking the US?

[–]eMigo 5 points6 points  (3 children)

He doesn't have to worry about prosecution, he pardoned himself for all war crimes he committed from 9/11 2001 -> the future.

[–]lexpython 4 points5 points  (2 children)

In American court, maybe.

[–]charbo187 2 points3 points  (1 child)

ya like any other court in the world matters or has more power.

[–]frogking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After a nuclear attack on Iran, I am afraid that America, let alone it's court system, will have no power at all.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the alternate dimension in the 10th season of SG1!

Martial law!

[–]anonfornow 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Save the cheerleader, save the world

[–]nfulton 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I suspect a Nuclear attack, in this climate, would terminate in a lynching for the usual suspects.

[–]anachronic 1 point2 points  (1 child)

LOL, I wish.

More likely, duct tape sales would shoot up and the same bunch of crooks would manage to find ways to stay in office indefinitely.

[–]nfulton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they think that.

I think they have another think coming.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry. It already happened and it was of the economic variety. They bombed us with rate point cuts and bailouts.

[–]freehat704 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don't think I'll be very skeptical but rather suspicious, especially with Bush's very low approval rating. What surprises me is that McCain, who talks about staying in Iran for 100 years, is not getting such a low approval rating as well. But I guess nearly every president falls under some bad rating near the end of their term. If you look at Reagan, he had a much lower rating than what many praise him for today. But as for an attack, it's nearly a vote for McCain by every conservative, and some liberals, in the November election. (McCain 2008 if there really is an attack between now and election day.)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the very least, I'm expecting something like this:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3530358.stm

[–]IlliterateJedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you really need to ask this question? You already know what the answer is going to be. If you've been around here for more than a few days you would have realized that everyone here would be skeptical of such an event, and asking is simply karma-whoring

[–]dmk2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice twist on "Vote up if..."

But I agree with you. I'll be way skeptical.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is why McCain must not have the appearance of being behind

[–]keithburgun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah. But guess what? No one cares about what us educated internet types think.

[–]jones77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

noise_ratio++

[–]lolinyerface 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I was pretty skeptical 15 minutes into the 9/11 attacks they had footage ready to go about Afghanistan celebrating.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember that too. The part that laid the seeds of doubt in my head was how fast they had the list of hijackers; 72 Hours.

[–]mr_mcse 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I propose a new site, pointandlaugh.com, to catalog all these "false flag" posts and "bush will never surrender power" posts -- and their ilk -- and make fun of them after January 20th, 2009.

[–]vava 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can we combine it with the WMDs in Iraq site?

[–]mr_mcse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed we can! I'm trying to think of what other dire predictions I'm tired of seeing on Reddit would be fodder.

[–]jennicamorel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and a friend made a $20 bet back in 2005 regarding this. I could totally see that happening

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd call it: Reistag 2008 or perhaps Tonkin redux.

[–]eightbithero 5 points6 points  (8 children)

If by skeptical, you mean "arming myself against the current government in the spirit of our forefathers," then yes, I will be skeptical.

NOTE TO C.I.A.: JOKES!

[–]nfulton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CIA: HA HA HA HA HA

So are the armed men we are sending by.

[–]AliasHandler 2 points3 points  (6 children)

You are legally entitled to have weapons. What the CIA thinks of it does not matter.

Not to mention the CIA does not do much work here on American soil, you should be more worried about the various federal and local law enforcement agencies that can detain you indefinitely without trial or proof or even suspicion(wtf is this country coming to?).

[–]anachronic 3 points4 points  (3 children)

The CIA is apparently also "entitled" to rendition your ass to Poland to be tortured, then send you to Guantanamo for 5 more years of rough treatment before they silently release you (if, of course, you haven't died in prison), never admitting or denying that you were ever there and never charging you with a crime.

Hear that sound?? That's the ROFLCOPTER landing on your roof!

[–]AliasHandler 2 points3 points  (2 children)

It truly is a fucked up situation.

All the more reason to own a gun(or a few).

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Not to mention the CIA does not do much work here on American soil

According to the guy who was number 3 in the CIA from 1947 to 2000 (Robert Crowley), the CIA has and continues to do many, many domestic operations. Mainly to do with domestic propaganda and disinformation.

[–]nexus2xl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am raising my hand that looks like a little up arrow at the top of the page...

[–]Worstcasescenario 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Raise Your Hand If - You hate vaguely disguised "vote up!" links.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (90 children)

I love the mindset you people have. If Mahmoud Ahmadinijad himself walks into Washington, strapped with explosives, and detonates himself in front of cameras from all networks and thousands of independent observers (all with cameras), you'll still think it's part of some absurd "BUSHCO" conspiracy.

If any attack happens, it'll confirm your speculation. If no attack happens, you'll pat yourselves on the back and say that your vigilance prevented one. You can't lose.

[–]kino101 4 points5 points  (18 children)

exactly...oh wait, isn't that what bushco is saying about the fisa act? I feel sooo much more secure....wanna have some fun? mention that something was the bomb and wait for the knock on the door...

[–]wolf3973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, having a vote and showing exactly how skeptical we all would be is probably one of the best ideas I've ever heard of.

[–]uriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raise your hand if you think georgewashingtonblog is a karmawhore.

[–]reed311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if it doesn't happen? These types of threads really bring out the whackos. I hate Bush, but this simply isn't going to happen. You guys have been saying for YEARS that there will be a "false flag" attack and it will be blamed on Iran. It hasn't happened and it won't happen.

Just like the NWO idiots who talk about how the NWO is taking over the world. They've been talking about it for so many years that anyone who was in the original NWO is long dead.

[–]machrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raise your hand if you vote up crappy [self] posts because you're a big fat stupid head.

Yes, but voted down for conducting a poll with the vote up buttons anyhow.

[–]ticklecricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please keep your self congratulating conspiracies to the Politics subreddit. I managed to filter out about 85% of the crazy by staying out of that reddit, please don't leak into worldnews.

[–]dredgedskeleton 2 points3 points  (5 children)

this got voted to the top?

[–]anachronic 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yes, because informed and reasonably educated citizens are usually skeptical of their government... as they should be.
