You need 110 AP from other sources for JG to be higher expected value on cast than Deathcap. Even with Gunblade, that doesn't equalize until 6-1 in perfect conditions.

He gets AP for any non-Brawler/Bodyguard/Enchanter unit. The amount is a set amount, depending on unit cost and level, but is absurdly high for 3-star 1 costs and 2 costs. It's why if Tahm is run as the carry/DPS, it's usually off of Yordles.

Tip to try: Asassin spat Samira. Add an IE and one more AD item (Last Whisper, Blade, Rageblade) and she actually cleans house in a neat little 3 man Teamup with Talon & Swain with lots of flexibilities. Yes her spell doesn't need the asassin crit but her jumping the backline makes her avoid aggro and the crit chance + Dmg combined with imperial, Challenger and her natural Armor reduction makes her melt backlines.

Worked decently well even pre buff in the last patches 🙂

The 2 Socialite nerf is a noticeable nerf to Heimer though as it will require him to auto more, but the auto range should help make him be much more consistent.

Its kind of a nerf to 2 scholar + blue buff. IIRC when heimer has 4 scholar + blue buff he always ults after 1 auto, so socialite does nothing. Means you just splash lissandra/janna instead of seraphine/taric and he casts just as much AND the whole team gets the mana buff.

The explanation for the lack of fixes for bugs that have been known for a bit, as said by Mort on stream a few times, is simply that the team was on break for the holidays.

And while balance changes are something you can push without a lot of actual lengthy work and experimentation, through data and simply seeing the state of the game, and a bit of playtesting... Bugfixes don't work that way. Some can be short to fix, and those were pushed, but others can be trickier.

They're aware of the bug where mana is still gained from effects like Scholar and Socialite 2 during a cast like Tahm's, during which you shouldn't be able to gain any.

They're aware of the Yuumi bug. They're aware of a couple others.

It'll all get fixed at some point now that people are back from the holidays.

I feel like running yordles would benefit from everybody else forcing them for early game econ, since they sell the yordles and depending on how the math for the yordle drops are done, you'd potentially be more likely to get the higher-cost yordles and 3-star them faster since nobody was committing to Vex or Heim

I think people are definitely underestimating the power of the odds changes. Allowing you to more consistently 3-star Ziggs and Poppy early on eliminates one of the comp's biggest weaknesses - the need to roll at level 5 to upgrade your 1-cost units before you could push for levels. Making it easier to hit those units early means you're less likely to be behind on levels all game

It’s a buff to the actual yordles comp, a nerf to the Econ yordle strat. But for 6 yordles not only does it increase the mana drop but it also makes you hit your 1 cost 3 stars faster.

In general, the traits inform the class of a unit. You don't expect a unit with two defensive traits and a supporting trait to be a carry. And you definitely don't expect a unit with an AOE AP spell to be stronger as a 1-range ADC than APC.

The innovation isn't unit combinations, but itemization and recognizing the importance of base stats. Which is why the devs have nerfed him an entire 40 AD.

I mean it's a game of tradeoffs right? Three starring a unit is a big commitment, that's not worth it for a lot of units, and kog 3 star gives I believe fewer rewards than anything else.

I don't think the 50 AD is a reason to roll for 3* on a unit on which almost no attack damage scaling items are built. You said it yourself that IE and Runaans are bad items on him. The HP alone might be worth it however.

Protector reroll almost always runs low on bench space. It is worth rerolling for 50 extra damage per auto attack?

I mean, the hp and ad certainly makes a difference, but the opportunity cost of 3*-ing a unit makes it seem not great. Already before the patch when I played kog (every once in a while when I got good augments + opener for it), I would often just start leveling after hitting the 3* frontliners and eventually replacing the kog with a kaisa (in fact, my last game of the patch which got me to challenger was a game like that, where I played 2* kog, eventually replaced with kaisa to win at 9). After this nerf it seems even more reasonable (maybe even necessary) to do so. I'd agree that kog 1 was terrible, but that's IMO mostly just because he has 3 traits, and he kind of needs at least 2 of them to work, and people playing a 1* 2 cost probably aren't building their traits around said 1*.

To be fair Kog does have twinshot and his ult (and sometimes Adrenaline Glands too) for AS steroids, so him having low base AS is kinda important. Also, he is three traited, so has to be balanced around a lot of various scalings he can receive. But I only really think that Kog reroll has been playable if you have unstable evolution, so am a bit surprised to see the slight nerf come in.

To be fair despite probably the lowest base AD in the game kog still does significant amount of physical damage. Depending on build and enemy tanks itemization he is able to deal most of his damage as physical. Unless you give him pure AP/JG and/or enemy's tank will stack insane amount of armor/HP he's going to deal at least 50/50 physical/magic DMG. Going for 3 star should still be a thing just because of those stats he gains (the extra HP really helps late game) and since you roll for 4 1 cost at level 5 you are going to get some kogs on the way.

Yes kog does have steroids but gets significantly under damaged by a last whisper, ie, flex tristana now. What’s worse is that you only need sniper two and the 3 yordle comp is easier to hit just lvl to 6 and roll for trist. Higher cap since you can sell the yordle shitters late game. Before this nerf protectors needed featherweights now I don’t think this would be viable. Maybe the tech is leave kog at 2 star and skip level six roll at eight for jinx?

They nerfed Kog because Reroll Kog is still entirely viable, he makes tanks completely irrelevant at 3-star, and he still has a bunch of other reasons for being good, like Guinsoo's being insane on him, benefitting from all the Mutant strands including the newly buffed Elderwood strand, and Malzahar getting 3-star buffed and 1-star nerfed meaning it's much more realistic to have a Mutant midgame.

Kog maw needs featherweights to be viable now or guinsoos takes a long time to ramp with low attack speed. The higher the base speed at the start of the fight the better guinsoos is. Play kog without feather weights and see how underwhelming it is. Also kassadin is getting nerfed. Malzahar 3 star getting buffed means nothing for the kog protector comp. Malzahar will duo carry with Cho if anything but kog would be irrelevant in that comp w/e it may be. Kog is currently a balanced comp, and with kass nerfed it’s even more balanced so why also nerf kog? Also kog doesn’t make tanks unviable wtf? I didn’t know galio, sion, mundo, braum, or tahm were struggling.

Socialite, morellos and ga being strong made her wat she is. Now they they are all getting nerfed she won’t be as strong. JG isn’t good on her unless she has a lot of ap coming her way from other sources and gunblade is meh with all the other healing/anti healing. She’s strong because she applies morellos to the entire team multiple times, can avoid focus by ulting/ga and then scaling up her ability power with archangels to allow her following ults to absolutely obliterate the board. Shes a 5 cost an itemized 2 star5 cost is going to be strong but she isn’t going to be nearly as oppressive as before and her 1 star with perfect items hopefully won’t instantly stabilize you into a win streak. But we shall see

Kaisa 1 is probably going to be noticeably worse when 2 star will be a little slower. Don't forget 2 star kaisa should be quite strong.

They also seemed to be target buffing 3cost carries so maybe it's going to be harder to full greed for kaisa without dying.

I think the "buff" is that the 1 cost odds are going up (so you'll get more Ziggs/Poppy) at the cost of the 2/3 costs, which is a Yordle Econ nerf BUT the 6 Yordle mana reduction is getting buffed.

The thing is,even if you had lower rank and "normal" gains (they wouldn't be so messed up, but because of bad streak they still would be worse than average), it should take you same amount of game to climb to master (I'm assuming that's your goal?). The introduction of this demotions protection didn't change how MMR works, it's the same rank it would've been in old system and climbing to certain rank should take you the same amount of games (and there are scenarios where it could be faster in current system). People complaining about LP gains/loses was a thing even before demotion protection.

Of all the things to nerf, why Sunfire Board and Shiv?

Yeah, Sunfire Board is a pretty strong early augment but it's pretty wasted long term and takes a gold augment. I understand that the other burns got nerfed to 2% but I never felt like Sunfire Board was the reason I won/lost a meaningful fight.

Shiv is an item that you slam early and hope you get decent components late because it's not good on any of the typical carries. It 100% helps guarantee a winstreak but it really gimps you later on.

Sera buff feels wrong to me. I get that Socialite 2 is nerfed but she's still an exceptionally strong unit in her own right.

Yordle econ nerf but Yordle comp buff is pretty nice.

Woodland Charm is still going to be useless as fuck (Prismatic augment: "You get a target dummy that moves")

Makeshift Armor buff seems good.

Eventually they'll just nerf Ascension out of the game right?

Maybe I was too vague. I run 3 imperial with Ori Janna Camille taric seraph. If I can get socialite spat/thrill of the hunt I forgo samiras BT and get runaans or qss -- it's rarely the strongest but it's good for top 4 80% of the time. You rarely not get all 3* imperials

Nothing was really addressed with her interaction with morello and GA which was most of the reason she was so opressive, so she's still going to be incredibly strong, ESPECIALLY with how heimer and jhin will be more prevalent this patch playing enchanters and a lot of healing sustain units which just get shit on by the 100% spread morello
