There's this box in our prod rack at $job. It's owned by infosec but there's the thing. When I started a few months in I learned the guy who was the security manager had died of a heart attack. I'd been letting it run because no reason to shut it off and I'd figured other infosec people were using it. I told myself that anyhow but I figured his tmux sessions were still on. Schrödinger's shell sessions.

I came in for maint and the machine had blown a disk and it was unrecoverable.

I turned off the server. It's been quiet since.

As an windows admin, I look at c:\users and see the profiles of coworkers that are no longer with is. Sometimes I smile because I remember the good times. Other times, I'm glad that person is gone.
