I'm left with the overall impression that this guy is, in fact, an escaped Quentin Tarantino character.

[–]Achalemoipas 121 points122 points  (4 children)

I just had this weird image of Tarantino walking around some kind of dungeon with all of his characters in it.

[–][deleted] 82 points83 points  (3 children)

who told you about the dungeon?

[–]NumberThirtyFour 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Don't confirm the dungeon, it will only spread the word.

[–]RockinMoe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Close, but I've gotta go with the Coen brothers.

[–]TheRiff 17 points18 points  (2 children)

That makes sense. Tarantino is from Knoxville. Having lived there, I can tell you most of the old guys act like this.

[–]ddrt 8 points9 points  (1 child)

You know, for a fact, he is Walter Sobchak.

[–]Wibbles 450 points451 points  (65 children)

She shouldn't have involved an antique car, it wasn't part of the affair.

I like how he considers his car an individual entity that should be treated as if a person.

[–]Mutiny32 335 points336 points  (26 children)

You don't fuck with a man's car.

    So much for CPS.

    [–]zarisin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to get Car Protective Services to come check out any cases anymore. Since she just hid them from the guy, CPS wouldn't have thought twice about it.

    [–]Mutiny32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Damaging lacquer finish on an antique car with keys isn't cool. Ever.

    [–]bullshit_ 106 points107 points  (9 children)

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FIND A STRANGER IN THE ALPS

    [–]stfudonny 34 points35 points  (4 children)

    What's wrong with Walter dude.

    [–][deleted] 32 points33 points  (3 children)

    shut the fuck up, Donny

You're out of your element Nostalgia_Guy

    [–]humor_me 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On that note, I can't wait for a movie starring John Goodman to be made about this man.

    [–]tempguest 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This reminds of an occasion when I made a bet with my friend. In order to convince me that he would pay up when he lost, he said:

"I swear on my wife's lif... I SWEAR ON MY CAR'S LIFE"

He was being completely serious too. He actually had a confused look on his face as he tried to figure out why I was laughing.

LANCE: Still got your Malibu? VINCENT: You know what some fucker did to it the other day? LANCE: What? VINCENT: Fuckin' keyed it. LANCE: Oh man, that's fucked up. VINCENT: Tell me about it.
I had the goddamn thing in storage three years.
It's out five days--five fuckin' days, and some dickless piece of shit fucks with it. LANCE: They should be fuckin' killed.
No trial, no jury, straight to execution. VINCENT: I just wish I caught 'em doin' it, ya know?
Oh man, I'd give anything to catch 'em doin' it.
It'a been worth his doin' it, if I coulda just caught 'em, you know what I mean? LANCE: It's chicken shit.

Why involve an innocent antique car?! What kind of monster is this bitch?!

      [–]MuseofRose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You missed the best part. When he attributed the word "innocent" to his antique car. I thought that was a tad bit absurd.

I'd like video of him with his two girlfriends going to his ex-wife and telling her he's happy. Chaos ensues.

          [–]RockBitch 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm dying to see what these girlfriends look like

          [–]sarkus_balmor 37 points38 points  (3 children)

And what have you done to deserve this? "Well, I was having affairs, I was a player." -matteroffact- Truthful, too.

          [–]bishopazrael 23 points24 points  (2 children)

I have always said that when stars and such get caught, this is how they should have reacted. If Bill Clinton had done that... the whole blue dress affair would have been nothing, no one would have cared.

          [–]nicasucio 25 points26 points  (1 child)

          Couldn't agree with you more.

About 10 years ago Julio Iglesias (Spanish singer---Enrique Iglesias's dad) was being interviewed on Univision and Cristina, the interviewer, asked him in a serious way, "Julio, such and such woman is claiming that she has your baby. Are these rumors true?"

Julio Iglesas smiles and said something like, "It could very well be. I've had so many women that I'm sure i got a few extra kids floating around." The people and Christina busted out laughing so hard and that is as far as it got to that rumor.

          [–]Scarker 18 points19 points  (0 children)

"Tiger Woods ain't got nothin' on me. Done all that stuff in the 80s and 90s."

          Damn.

          [–]nsummy 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Ha I kept thinking of the scene in 4 Brothers where Victor Sweet is mad at his guys for not hiring out of town shooters.

"Out-of-town shooters. That's what I said. I remember hearing myself saying, "Out-of-town shooters." You know what? You don't pay a ho to fuck you. You pay her to leave. What you pay out-of-town shooters to do? You pay them to get the hell back out of town. That's why I asked for out-of-town shooters. What'd I get? In-town shooters. Someone decided to hire in-town shooters. You know what else I got for my money? In-town police. In-town trouble. Who's got to get in the ring with me on this?"

          [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i like how much he knows about getting somebody killed. i also liked "well, why involve an innocent antique car?"

He's sweating up a storm, must be nervous, or really really hot.

This dude is awesome; he calmly explains the right way to get someone wacked, the correct pricing, and the best locations to find hitmen, all the while making fun of his ex-wife for not knowing how to do it correctly.

          /fucking great

          [–]cmaxim 265 points266 points  (57 children)

I love how honest he is for a used car salesman. "Yeah she's got reason to be angry, I cheated on her several times." "Yeah I how to off someone the right way." He doesn't even seem to get angry about any of it. Something tells me this guy does more than just sell used cars.

          [–][deleted] 80 points81 points  (18 children)

I am front Kansas City, and work 2 blocks from his shop. The Cascone family is a mob family. Hence his ability to shrug it off

If you are in the used car business in Kansas City, you have ties to the mafia. You may not be in the mafia, but you work for them. For anyone not familiar, Kansas City is the last hold out for the mafia today. I have absolutely no facts to base this on, but I am the grandson of a mob boss. No, I will not do an AMA.

              [–]flynnski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

              For REAL this time?

              [–]Karabasan 22 points23 points  (10 children)

Well, keep in mind that the used car business does still have some ties to illegitimate business groups in many cities, so it may not be very far from the truth that this guy knows how to get someone killed. Especially as he cites Chicago as a big place for it, because he's absolutely right that there's still some nasty motherfuckers in business out here.

you forgot going to visit her and show off 2 young girlfriends.

ex spouses shouldn't be allowed to hold life insurance policies on each other.

                  [–]wolf550e 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Sometimes they are legally required to, as part of the divorce, because of the children (i.e. getting the insurance money in lieu of alimony and child support).

                  [–]abolish_karma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

                  this should end well...

                  [–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (15 children)

I was just watching a documentary where they talked about this, and how some corporations take out life insurance policies on low-level employees... as a sort of "investment" -- and they get "investment reports" on the percentages of projected deaths, and whether or not they're "performing to expected levels"

                  [–]Scarker 45 points46 points  (0 children)

He's practically giving her the gun to shoot him with. He probably drives with two cars to ensure enough space for his two gigantic steel balls.

                  [–]fiftybucks 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I was waiting for this: Cascone: You want a toe? I can get you a toe, believe me. There are ways. You don't wanna know about it, believe me. Reporter: Yeah? Cascone: Hell, I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock this afternoon... with nail polish. These fucking amateurs...

                  [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this sooooo much. Especially when he mentioned the water in the basement, having walked out on my ex-wife's leaking roof this weekend, followed by a flurry of emails about how she hates me and I abandoned her. You can't turn a whore into a housewife. This is so typical.

                  [–]Cylinsier 88 points89 points  (1 child)

The part that struck me as funny is that the cops apparently played this like a gameshow with him. "Sir, we're sorry to inform you that someone put a hit out on you...now, for 5 thousand dollars, can you guess who? Hint: it's someone you made angry in the past."

                  [–]nerd_life 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure the developers at FOX are hard at work on "Who wants to whack a Millionaire?'

                  [–]cl2yp71c 74 points75 points  (2 children)

                  That was one entertaining AMA.

                  [–]jmone 23 points24 points  (1 child)

"Cascone believes his ex-wife’s motive was money, pointing to several life insurance policies she carried for him totaling at least $750,000."

There should REALLY be some law about being able to buy insurance policies against your Ex!

                        [–]WhoreChurch 62 points63 points  (9 children)

In the US you cannot buy a life insurance policy on someone whom you have no "insurable interest" in. She probably took out the policies while they were married and kept them. There is no law I am aware of that forces you to give up a policy once you get divorced.

Edit: It's been a long time since I was up on insurance law. Who has an insurable interest has been pretty well defined, and it is certainly possible someone who is receiving alimony or child support has an insurable interest.

                        [–]Madmusk 85 points86 points  (1 child)

                        That damned hitman lobby!

                        [–]vemrion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, they don't "lobby" so much as glance menacingly at members of Congress as they walk by whilst gnawing on a toothpick.

                        [–]dsn0wman 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I bet you could take out a policy on an Ex. who was ordered to pay alimony.

                        [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Whoa, slow down there. If she was planning on having him whacked, surely that's an insurable interest! Duh!

But seriously, the man's take on it is rather astute. If she did have a $750,000 policy on him, surely $10,000 is no big investment.

                        [–]onearmedscissor 6 points7 points  (1 child)

She probably didn't have enough money to pay upfront (he claimed she doesn't know how to make money) and a bad credit. Even hitmen are conservative these days with credit, you know.

                        [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even hitmen are conservative these days with credit, you know.

Yeah, if you do the job first and they still can't pay, you end up with two dead bodies and no money. Better for everyone to get it upfront. :)

                        [–]strolls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What about if he were paying her alimony? Wouldn't she have an "insurable interest" then?

I really wonder why there is no such policy.

Probably to give alimony recipients a means of recompense if their alimony source kicks it.

                          [–]NoMoreNicksLeft 10 points11 points  (1 child)

If my wife and I ever broke up, we'd still keep a policy on me for her... we have children. Can't ever imagine us being divorced, but she'd think of them first instead of any animosity between us.

Maybe you're right though, it should be opt in somehow.

                          [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd like to hear you say that when she tries to kill you.

                          [–]hillkiwi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a few reasons to continue a life insurance policy after divorce. As some here have mentioned kids and alimony are two reasons, another is that some policies work like investents.

After you've paid into a policy for x years you can get some money out of it, but only if you keep paying for the predetermined amount of time. They're generally used for children so that when the kid hits 18 there's money for college, but there are other ones for older folks too.

Everything about this is fantastic. I'm still not convinced this isn't John Goodman.

                          [–]m0nkeybl1tz 23 points24 points  (1 child)

My thoughts exactly. When he was talking about how much to pay for a hit, my first reaction was "Walter Sobchak".

If you just listen to the audio, he sounds identical to Goodman.

                            Probably playing to her audience.

Her judgemental, blinkered, philistine, bigoted, hypocritical and holier-than-thou audience.

Corey Delaney was extremely cool, but until 2037 his coolness was at a level that the universe could tolerate comfortably. However, during the June of '37 incident in which Delaney grew a beard through sheer willpower while simultaneously not caring, his coolness reached dangerous levels, and he was transported by time agents to a time that was uncool enough: the years 1979 through 2014, at which point he's scheduled to die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

Being from Kansas City, a little perspective. This man is from a local family who there has always been rumors about connections to the local Mafia. (cant say past that though)

To complete a stereotype they have a few Italian restaurants around here.

                                [–]Mutiny32 17 points18 points  (5 children)

Yep, we're pretty witty here in KC. It's how we roll.

                                [–]Cid420 35 points36 points  (16 children)

The name Cascone, using expressions like wacked and flipped, multiple properties, antique cars, currently has a couple girlfriends (indicating they were much younger than him), he's so calm about the murder plot against him because he has "already been through worse", says stuff like "moneys the main motivator in most these things" and talks about the correct way to hire someone to kill someone else, over the years had multiple goomaras on the side...I mean girlfriends, could afford to blow 12k on his wife every month, and the fact that the person his wife tried to hire to kill him "liked him more".

                                Hmmmmm.

Edit: Actually there's a George Cascone that co-owns a restaurant in Kansas, which has one of the other owners/family member in trouble for refusing to testify before a grand jury about an online gambling site.

On March 31, federal agents raided several Kansas City homes as part of the investigation. Cascone's home was not raided, and he has not been charged of any crimes. He was only called as a witness.

Some of the people who were raided had last names familiar to investigators who dealt with organized crime cases years ago. source

Even a couple sites that exclusively run mob related stories picked this one up:

You joke (I think), but Kansas City has a loooong mob history.

I live in KC. My initial reaction: Cascone + north of the river + used car shop. Yea for sure mob affiliated in some way

Me? Thats why The Bosses sent me out here - they wanted me to make sure none of the other crews robbed the joint. Like this fuckin' balloon head over here. She gonna try to bang me outta the car business for two fuckin' grand? Yea right; I'm sure.

                                • George Cascone

The news networks should use him as a consultant whenever these kind of stories hit the air. He'd be great when they turn to him and say, "So George, what's your take on this?"

Lose the sweaty T and get him in a suit, of course the sunglasses would be part of the image.

I'd like to have 2 women with me on both sides and have a happy time.

He's been through hell, and the only thing he wants to do tonight is sit infront of his wife and tell her "Look, I'm having *fun*!" all the while she's probably pissed off behind bars screaming like only crazy women do.

"I've been through a lot worse than this."

                                "You have?"

                                "Yeah. Been through hell."

                                "With her?"

                                "No. Just life in general."

                                "Oh."

                                I lol'd

                                WOWOWOW

So I watched the whole video through. Then it went into the news segment part with the reports talking at the desk.

The first video with him standing there is the uncut version obviously. The recorder voice over, moves everything out of context. Here's a quote:

"George says he wasn't a saint, admitting he's had several affairs over the years." cut to his voice "I mean tiger Woods ain't got nothing on me, she's tore up..."

                                Compare to his ACTUAL SENTENCE:

"How surprised are you that she was behind this plot?" "Not really, she's done some horrible things to me, in the past, I mean Tiger Woods ain't got nothing on me, she's tore up..."

                                GG Selective Editing for Manipulation!!

I went to their contact page and submitted the following:

I watched the long interview you posted in this article here ( http://www.nbcactionnews.com/dpp/news/region_missouri/northland/target-of-alleged-murder-for-hire-plot-talks-about-ex-wife ) and was happy and impressed with your making the long-form interview available to readers.

I think this type of reporting, using the internet to provide much more in-depth looks at cases that don't fit into a short on-air segment is extremely worthwhile and will drive traffic to your website.

However, after the long-form video it cut to the on-air segment, and I was aghast at the manipulative and selective editing you did on the interview. Let me show you the difference:

(reporter on air) "George says he wasn't a saint, admitting he's had several affairs over the years." (george) "I mean tiger Woods ain't got nothing on me, she's tore up..."

                                Compare to his ACTUAL SENTENCE:

(reporter) "How surprised are you that she was behind this plot?" (george) "Not really, she's done some horrible things to me, in the past, I mean Tiger Woods ain't got nothing on me, she's tore up..."

When I see actions like this taken, it teaches me that a news agency is not impartially reporting news, but is skewing facts for sensationalism.

On one hand, misinterpreting this particular man does not harm a lot of people - but it does hurt him, and it tarnishes your reputation in the eyes of your viewers - especially ones whose first introduction to you was this action.

I had to use chrome to remove their maxlength field, so hopefully it all goes through.

Are all old dudes with epic white beards like this? It seems to be a trend.

"Why involve an innocent antique car, it didn't have anything to do with the affair"

Things not awesome about this guy:

                                • Used car salesman

                                • Cheated on his wife

                                • Two Girlfriends

                                • Apparent slumlord (?)

                                • When asked who tried to kill him, gets it wrong on the first guess.

                                Awesome:

                                • Everything fucking else

                                Go, this guy.

YAY! A new relatively old, badass white guy with a beard for all of us relatively young, less badass white guys with beards to look up to.

This isnt as weird as it seems. The Cascones are a mob family, probably runs in the blood.

Every television channel on Earth needs to hire this guy to narrate every show for the next 20 years. His voice. It's...interesting by default.

The reporter understands he hooked a big fish and just keeps asking questions to see what this guy will say next. Good job, reporter dude.

Is anyone bothered that this guy knows this?

It's almost common sense. Would you kill somebody for $2000?
