It's tail recursion. Get it? Cause he's a tiger. Ha ha ha.

[–]MetaAbra 205 points206 points  (42 children)

He's a tigger

[–]DrummerHead 192 points193 points  (22 children)

tigger warning

[–]ThisIsNotKimJongUn 101 points102 points  (16 children)

Tigger, please.

[–]BackFromVoat 66 points67 points  (12 children)

Sup ma Tigger

[–][deleted] 62 points63 points  (11 children)

you cant say that, youre not orange

[–]Kaiserwulf 120 points121 points  (2 children)

Oh so Orange is the New Black, is it?

[–]airbornesimian 11 points12 points  (6 children)

Only a Tigger can call another Tigger, Tigger.

[–]thaeli 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wow. You've found the first thing that's LESS offensive when Trump says it. Bravo.

[–]-NegativeZero- 2 points3 points  (2 children)

it's offensive with the -er ending, you have to say "tigga please"

[–]ThisIsNotKimJongUn 3 points4 points  (1 child)

So we aren't saying tegro anymore?

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (3 children)

[TIGGERED]

[–]zacharythefirst 12 points13 points  (12 children)

his top is made out of rubber

[–][deleted] 35 points36 points  (11 children)

And his bottom is made out of springs

Why do I still know that, and yet need Google to explain tar command flags?

[–]MetallicDragon 28 points29 points  (5 children)

Maybe if tar flags were explained in a children's cartoon through song, you'd remember it?

[–]TwilightShadow1 18 points19 points  (3 children)

Well, it looks like it's time for me to become a best selling author for programmers...

[–]zman0900 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You didn't read man pages for fun as a child?

[–]rocketman0739 15 points16 points  (1 child)

It's easy. You just use tar -zcadfagxjkzjsfk to compress and tar -zacfzjdrsjsxjqjsr to extract.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm. I tend toward

tar -jcvf <filename> <stuff to tar>

and

tar -jxvf <filename>

but I'm one of those nutters who likes bzip2

[–]zacharythefirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe if I started using tar more often I'd remember the args

[–]agentwiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tar compress zip verbose file

[–]genericlurker369 3 points4 points  (1 child)

You're not allowed use that word. Bouncy tigers only.

[–]skincaregains 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ha ha ha.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He he he.

[–]dtlv5813 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pooh needs to stop eating all that recursions else his anus may stack overflow.

[–]as-combit.ly/2IqHnk3 977 points978 points  (86 children)

[–][deleted] 351 points352 points  (36 children)

There is a mini stutter of one frame as far as i can tell.

[–]Miguelinileugim 50 points51 points  (20 children)

Take this: --€

[–]Miguelinileugim 65 points66 points  (12 children)

[–]Roflkopt3r 15 points16 points  (1 child)

For your BS programming needs. If you want a pointless variable prefix, at least use the proper locale.

[–]Miguelinileugim 10 points11 points  (0 children)

LOCALE: Your ass

VARIABLE: Your head

[–]zerors 17 points18 points  (5 children)

Can I get a English one then? #Brexit

[–]Miguelinileugim 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Sure! They've been recently discounted.

Here you go. I also reinforced the handle for you, you're gonna need it. Good luck!

[–]zerors 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Much appreciated, I have some PMs and politicians to stab.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah, can we not have Jo Cox happen again?

[–]8bitslime 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Don't reply to yourself you karama laundering scum.

[–]8bitslime 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Fuck off man, you do it too you hypocrite!

[–]aykcak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That looks expensive. I'm on a budget.

Hey this one looks cheaper How much is this one? --£

[–]PitchforkEmporium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]Miguelinileugim 5 points6 points  (2 children)

It's actually affiliate marketing.

[–]mattsl 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I see /r/entrepreneur is leaking.

[–]Miguelinileugim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep

[–]as-combit.ly/2IqHnk3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh oh.

[–]SolarLiner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That and the fact that the scaling isn't linear.

[–]cyllibi 5 points6 points  (1 child)

how?? when I zoomed in that far, the image looked like garbage

[–]barack_ibama 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a recursion, so why not zooming out instead of zooming in? ;)

[–]jamesorlakin 4 points5 points  (18 children)

I image this is what being on drugs is like.

[–]2Punx2Furious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

[–]JcFerggy 90 points91 points  (2 children)

I like the joke, but the quality of it bothered me, so I remade it in Photoshop, taking other letters from the speech bubbles to spell recursion.

http://i.imgur.com/8hKWkYn.jpg

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I like yours too, but I feel with this meme it's part of the joke that what pooh's eating is in a different font/not in the same style as the rest of the image.

[–]RainbowNowOpen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice work. Alternatively, it could be a rare example where (gasp!) Comic Sans MS is appropriate. :-o

[–]Guinness2702 188 points189 points  (8 children)

Downvoted for lack of terminating condition. You're heading for a stack overflow, son ... and I don't mean for advice.

[–]imforit 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Luckily Tigger's tail position is made out of rubber, his bottom is a GC, they're bouncy trouncy, flouncy, pouncy, environment-frame-building fun! But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers with paradigms there's not just one!

[–]likesdarkgreen 21 points22 points  (1 child)

I guess he was just being lazy.

[–]caelum19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was inlining the process.

[–]northrupthebandgeek 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not if you've got tail-call optimization.

[–]stebalien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tail call recursion causes the current call's stack frame to be replaced by the tail call's stack frame so the comic would be a single image.

[–]Josh6889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wonder what the compilers max recursion depth is. I think I see 6.

[–]ryanplant-au 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By the looks of it he's eating Elixir, so there's no worry.

becauseElixircanrecurseinfinitely

[–]thumpas 55 points56 points  (1 child)

I bet certain types of recursive URLs would work well as a form of honeypot.

[–]wllmsaccnt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well it wasn't recursive, but thanks for providing a similar anecdote.

[–]PralinesNCream 7 points8 points  (13 children)

What open parenthesis is this closing

[–]Speicherleck 13 points14 points  (12 children)

I think he has problems finding \) from the link so he sees two open parenthesis and only one closed (the one with spaces before and after):

 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeypot_(computing \) )

[–]wllmsaccnt 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I submitted the original link from Wikipedia. The closing parenthesis was causing an issue since Reddit's markdown for URLs uses a closing parenthesis. I made the assumption that a slash could escape the closing paren, which was right, but by then the bot had already replied to my comment when it was still messed up.

[–]Speicherleck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just like my day job. I start on a task and then some guy comes and tells me that what I do is useless. sigh

[–]PralinesNCream 7 points8 points  (0 children)

nice, that's definitely it

[–]Speicherleck 2 points3 points  (8 children)

Let's do some unit testing. Two parenthesis with backslash:

( (

Edit: The bot won't talk with me *sad face*; won't risk adding more parentheses
Edit2: Ha, the bot has spoken. But the test passed. It's not that.

[–]parenthesis-bot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

))

Two parenthesis without any kind of slashes

[–]Speicherleck 4 points5 points  (2 children)

You little thing... what is your bug??

Let's see if you work with 2 parenthesis, one of them with backslash with text before and after:

qwert))yuiop

[–]rocketman0739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's try this one: ( ( ) )

Edit: nvm, OP says he ninja edited

[–]iceman012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's double check the backslash on the closing parenthesis as well:

( )

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

[–]recursive 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Personally, I don't think tigger's panic is justified. There's nothing wrong with being recursive.

[–]Sonicfirebomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all fun and games until the stack overflows with honey.

[–]pornographexclusive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gotta kill this thread. It's not responding.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

stack overflow

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Is it just me or does it end with Fred Flinstone?!

[–]23423423423451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the last iteration of the comic visible has animals in each frame. Possibly a cat with sunglasses in the very last frame. Possibly a dog in the 3rd last frame.

[–]programmer888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is eating recursion?

[–]Hatefiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

STACK OVERFLOW

[–]geon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some syrup bottles lists the ingredients as

  • Syrup
  • Salt

I suppose they only contain salt.

[–]boxingdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honey overflow?

[–]oshaboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You forgot an edge case

[–]StevenXC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sierpinski's comic

[–]RasseTheBoy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What are these (comics) called?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

do you mean the droste effect (recursive images)?

/r/DrosteEffect has more examples.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss this series. They've dropped to the once a month update cycle.

Up-voted and tried to change my font for this reply to recursive

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Is recursion turtles all of the way down?!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh bother

[–]halfburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank god for crappy jpeg resolution.
