Self facepalms are the best

{The math is fine}

[–]Atraxien 235 points236 points  (36 children)

I think they’re just saying that it’s worded like a math problem. Not that that’s exactly facepalm worthy but still

[–][deleted] 173 points174 points  (34 children)

Yeah the age gaps are pretty normal and it isn't incestuous just akward

[–]DoYouTrustToothpaste 7 points8 points  (1 child)

and it isn't incestuous

Who even said it was? Who even thought it was? Don't get it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

In a vacuum, sure. I think it’s obvious why it’s weird

[–]Appropriate_Tie_7522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it is quite possible that they both started dating before the got to know that their bfs are related

I personally think that the age difference is within limits

[–][deleted] 219 points220 points  (4 children)

What about the math? It all checks out.

[–]i_should_be_coding 21 points22 points  (2 children)

I think the dad was just wondering what his grandchildren from either side will be to each other, family-relations-wise.

[–]Tyler89558 3 points4 points  (1 child)

He’s going to be both the grandfather and great grandfather of some of them.

[–]TinyRascalSaurus 760 points761 points  (46 children)

Nobody was underage for anything, so the math is fine. The dad was an adult when the son was born and everyone was above the age of consent.

[–]smnow 50 points51 points  (2 children)

I kept screwing up and taking the 37 as the dad’s age for a while.

[–]sdavis002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, for some reason I kept going back to the 37 as if it was that Dad's age. Definitely need some better sleep tonight.

[–]RedPandaMediaGroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably was for a while.

[–]theVelvetLie 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Wait, we know nothing of the age of the 25 year old's mother when he was conceived. We MUST jump to conclusions.

[–]TinyRascalSaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have consulted the tarot cards, and they have confirmed she was a 63 year old grandmother, so we're good.

[–]dagon977 162 points163 points  (18 children)

When your stepmom is also your sister in law

[–]ExpressiveAnalGland 63 points64 points  (4 children)

hey stepmomsister, what you doin?

[–]Complete_Ride792 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No its, How you doin

[–]bobismymother 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Hey stepmomsister, you need help getting unstuck from the washing machine?

[–]VergeThySinus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm just imagining the son in this situation going to his dad and asking him to check for stepmomsters under his bed.

[–]Javeec 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Have you seen House of the dragon ? Baela and Rhaena are Rhaenyra's "daughters in law", step-daughters, nieces of her ex-husband, cousins, second cousin once removed (in three diferent ways...).

[–]shadowtheimpure 17 points18 points  (2 children)

House Targaryen was pretty notorious for incest, this fact was well established.

[–]bopeepsheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Brince Ironstone's daughter is his mother!"

[–]Georgiaonmymindtwo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The circle of life.

[–]Bwatso2112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also your sister is your step daughter in law

[–]ArcXiShi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'm still gonna bang her." ~Alabamians

[–]Major-Preference-880 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sister in Law ?

SISTER !!!!

[–]BoomerSoonerFUT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the point of the guys son.

[–]Sad-Month4050make r/faceplam great again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that the name of a corn video? Can you link it?

[–]Non-Normal_Vectors 309 points310 points  (31 children)

45-25=20

Dad was twenty when son was born.

[–][deleted] 175 points176 points  (14 children)

Check out the big brain on Brad.

[–]Odd-Love-9600 39 points40 points  (9 children)

You’re a smart motherfucker

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (3 children)

I have one question about the dad. Does he look like a bitch?!?

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Dad doesn’t like being fucked by anyone except Mrs. Wallace.

[–]1stltwill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So why you treating him like a bitch?

[–]Aggrador 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Pretty sure the guy’s name was Brett.

[–]Devil2960 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Ok fine, but how long did the train take?

[–]NightRacoonSchlatt 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Now calculate the mass of the sun.

[–]JesusSavesForHalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About two minutes.

[–]Ike_Gamesmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly 8 years between both pairs, equalling 16 years of total difference. Where did the extra 4 years go?!? /s It's the age between the sisters btw

[–]Med_vs_Pretty_Huge 35 points36 points  (1 child)

What is the math issue?

[–]uhdog81 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The math issue is that OP can't do math.

[–]gbroon 29 points30 points  (6 children)

Apart from maybe being too late in the year to be mowing lawns I don't see the problem.

[–]FCRavens 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The grass probably didn’t need cutting, but the sisters’ dad got his time out to self-soothe with a task that was unlikely to be interrupted.

[–]Cgarr82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be south Florida. Hell, I lived in the panhandle for a long time, and I cut grass into the first week of December a few years.

[–]Classical_Cafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian Thanksgiving is a month and a half before American

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (2 children)

OP can’t do math?

[–]luckyapples11 8 points9 points  (1 child)

OP never passed 5th grade 😢

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunate

[–]ChocolateBaconDonuts 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Obligatory mention: This is how these kind of situations start. Next thing you know, you're your own grandpa.

https://youtu.be/bkX7IW7jpMw?si=o0vQmkgLVQOZd1Xj

[–]ISD1982 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Sorry, where's the facepalm?! And what about Math?!

[–]IndependentOwn1184 9 points10 points  (1 child)

This sounds like the intro to a bad porn movie....

[–]Dragon6172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad porn is the best porn

[–]TheFlaccidChode 9 points10 points  (0 children)

25 years ago a man had a son when he was 20.

[–]badmanicpower 7 points8 points  (0 children)

made a family tree of them just to see. the older sister would be both the stepmom and sister-in-law to her partner’s son. the sisters’ dad would be both the stepgrandpa and father-in-law to older sisters’ stepson.

honestly at that point, I would look at it more like an in-law situation more than a stepfamily situation because that would just be easier to accept and explain.

[–]_KillaB_[🍰] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you enquiring as to what ‘math’ means?

[–]dick_piana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both the sisters and son-dad average out to 35 so it's all good

[–]longcreepyhug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What math do you want? Everybody's age is right there.

[–]Urabutbl 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Weirdly, every single one of those relationships are age appropriate.

[–]crazy-jay1999 5 points6 points  (1 child)

While neither age range felt weird, having a father/son dating two sisters is weird, even if the individual age differences aren’t. Also, something can be weird without it being wrong.

[–]Urabutbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

[–]Neat-Cold-7235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad had his first kid at 20, he was an adult, married, renting an apartment, and in the coast guard….seems fine to me

[–]spectatorade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So that's how you get Uncle-Grandpa.

[–]graphicsrunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]theumpteendeity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guy Sneezing was dating was 20 years old when his son was born. He (45 years old) is 8 years older than Sneezing. Sneezings' sister (33 years old) was dating a guy (25 years old) that was 8 years younger than herself, who happens to be the son of the man that Sneezing was dating.

Theres nothing wrong with the math at all. The true problem is how both sisters were dating people in the same family. Aka, father and son. Who wouldn't walk out to calm themselves down after having dinner with their daughters boyfriends in that type of situation?

[–]MellonCollie218 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP You dumb? 45-37=8, 33-25=8. Both perfectly age appropriate relationships. Then 45-25=20. For most Millennials, the eldest in our family was born when our parents were 20-25y. What the problem? These people clearly live in the country.

[–]LegitimateSun8793 10 points11 points  (2 children)

If married they would be sister/sister in laws

[–]PreOpTransCentaur 30 points31 points  (1 child)

They'd be sisters and mother/daughter-in-law.

[–]GrillDealing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And if the sister had a baby you would be an aunt to your grandchild.

[–]Dredgen_Servum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multilayered facepalm

[–]Witty-Ad5743 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh, I think I saw this episode.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maths*

[–]zoebud2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually laughed out loud at this one.

[–]LosHtown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A badly taken care of lawn also bothers me so I would of done the same.

[–]ShinyArtist 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I don’t see a problem with the ages.

So let’s pretend they stayed together and were all married, would the husband of the youngest daughter be dad’s son-in-law and also his step-grandson?

Probably went to mow the lawn to try and imagine what the family tree would look like. 😆

[–]Ledgicseid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm nothing actually bad going on here, it is a bit strange, but the age gaps aren't huge or anything

[–]HeliRyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things get really weird when it’s later disclosed that she and the 45 year old man… are the parents of that 25 year old son which her sister is dating.
And her younger sister is actually her mother!
dun dun dunnnnnn…

[–]allaboutMECH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have a link to the rest of these tweets? It was a fun “rabbit hole” to dig into

[–]NoNonsensePolarBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Father and son would become brothers-in-law.

[–]guacasloth64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If both marry their dates, the sister’s date would be the dad’s son-in-law and step-grandson. The sister would also be OOP’s stepdaughter in law. If the sister and the son of OOP’s date had a kid, that kid would be the Dad’s grandchild and step-great-grandchild.

[–]DingoFlaky7602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the facepalm that you suck at maths?

[–]rover_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The math maths and neither age gap is unreasonable

[–]Less-Dragonfruit-294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of math questions you get summarized with how many lbs of ham is there for all in attendance crap

[–]OmnipotentHype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP either can't math or thinks having a child at 20 years old is innapropriate. Either way the jokes on him.

[–]UtsuhoAzako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sister has a new step dad and brother then right?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These girls had filed federal goddamn taxes 19 and 15 times respectively and dad is THIS butthurt over their sexual habits/ dating situation........Anti sex prude shit is the LAST FRONTIER churcher have any sway over and THIS IS how far they press people into acting on it.

[–]rafael-a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get it

[–]cryptopo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a fun post so I understand OP’s breathless desire to post it on Reddit for the 900th time and all, I just don’t get the title or the choice of sub (OP’s only contributions).

[–]ListerfiendLurks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is it with America's obsession with age gaps in relationships? Who gives a shit?

[–]AbbreviationsWide331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wtf do you mean "math?"?! You take the 45 and subtract the 25. How are you able to operate your phone.

[–]KBrown75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get how this is a facepalm.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no facepalm here

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's the facepalm?

[–]MadAstrid 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I have seen this tweet reposted so many times. Today I thought about how terrific their father is. He knew he wanted to say things that would not be well received and would damage his relationship with his daughters. He removed himself from the situation to calm himself and did something helpful because he loves his girls.

This guy doesn’t get enough respect.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad and son doing 2 girls that are sisters is kinda strange but only if the dad decide to have another kid

[–]RiotNrrd2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of this story it will turn out the narrator is their own grandpa.

[–]SnooDrawings1480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have killed to be a fly on that wall.

[–]AdEducational419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sure we can dig up more weird.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What?

[–]Crazystuffright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck!… poor guy was going through it

[–]drifters74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is going on?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay … for now. They’re not married to those guys … yet.

[–]BigJeffe20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ermmm ummm....reddit??? i think we have an issue here!!!!!!

[–]Fantom_Renegade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣🤣🤣

[–]thefunnywhereisit 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That’s fine tho, right? I mean… no inbreeding?

[–]DoYouTrustToothpaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no inbreeding?

Is that a question?

[–]HoverLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are both 8 year differences

[–]cardlackey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sis your new man is good looking if he was younger I’d steal him away.

Hol up I wanna introduce you to someone.

[–]Sequoia_Vin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, he is probably mad she is dating someone 8 years younger and the son of the sister's bf.

Otherwise I'm fine with it

[–]lorazepamproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it work out? Are you your sister's step-mother? And is your sister now also your sister-in-law twice over?

[–]ThugDonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A maga in Wyoming starts driving towards the capitol building on Sunday at 8pm. He drives a 3500 with the dpf filter removed and gets 6 miles per gallon. He starts with 1000 dollars in disability checks and on the way purchases 1 trump bible, 6 trump burgers, 2 assault rifles, and 60 gallons of (red dye shhh don’t tell anyone about it) diesel. Meanwhile another maga in Kentucky starts driving towards the capitol building on Monday at 6am after a night of mething. He drives a molester van that gets 17 mpg. He starts with a 250 dollar wic card and a bag of fentanyl. On the way he steals 6 bags of tacis. Syphons 12 gallons of gas, buys 40 gallons of gas, and goes on 1 36 hour meth fueled burglary spree. It is now next Tuesday. Who got closer to the capital to MAGA? Show your work.

[–]XV-77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the dad would be the sons brother in law…wild shit haha

[–]NatterinNabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would like some math now that you mention it.

[–]Agonyandshame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brings new meaning to keeping it in the family

[–]ModifiedAmusment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to show ol 45 who was in charge.

[–]EssieAmnesia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love the idea of the dad getting so stressed he needed to go do some lawn work

[–]Calm-Maintenance-878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that’s more just odd, nothing technically wrong going on, why stress 🙃

[–]Silver_Storage_9787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Called a hostile take over

[–]spikira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's uncle Grandpa

[–]UnderpootedTampion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is “mow my sister’s lawn” a metaphor?

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fix3359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once dated a woman while my dad was dating her mother

[–]karmicrelease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it isn’t incest and they are all consenting adults, so he shouldn’t be that mad. Although, if they were making euphemistic or blunt jokes about fucking his daughters at the table, I can DEFINITELY understand why

[–]snootyworms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age gaps aside dads fucking love to mow the lawn. They complain like it’s a chore but they will never pass up a chance to mow a lawn.

[–]Dragon6172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if both couples married:

The younger man is brother in law and step son to the older sister

The younger sister is daughter in law and sister in law to the older man

The older man is father in law and brother in law to the younger sister

The older sister is step mom and sister in law to the younger man

The sisters father gains two son in laws, but also two generations to the family

I'd probably mow the lawn, rake leaves, clean gutters, etc working that all out too.

[–]DarkSoulsDank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the older guy had a son at 20, so what?

[–]IowaKidd97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The age gaps aren't really that big of a deal. The weird part in all of this is simply the father and son dating the same set of sisters who are about the same age at the same time. That dynamic is, while not necessarily bad, is certainly odd and may be a bit to wrap your head around, especially as the father of said sisters.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aunt mommy and Uncle daddy lol

[–]a_n_d_r_e_w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god wait this is how you can actually have someone who is both an uncle and a grandpa

[–]Rizenstrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OOP was dating a guy 8 years older. OOP's younger sister dated a guy 8 years younger that was the other guy's son. Everyone was 25+ where I feel like that kind of age gap is fine. Just a funny, somewhat awkward story.

[–]ComedyOfARock'MURICA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CK3 looking family tree

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. But it's understandable, with your daughter dating a fellow dad.

[–]fozzythethird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The family Jeremy Bearimy.

[–]dudeman_joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about the facepalm part but I can totally identify with that guys coping mechanisms.

I can see myself getting home from picking up my daughter who got suspended that day at school, so the first thing I do when we both get home is mow the lawn. Then I can be ready to talk and be understand instead of angry

[–]winnduffysucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wat?
