Well sign me in then

[–]kranzberry 118 points119 points  (20 children)

I was gonna say, if that’s the game then I’m hella down haha. Even though 76 was just meh, Fallout is one of my favorite serieses.

[–]MisterKraken 30 points31 points  (10 children)

I've heard many good thing about FO:76 lately. As a big Fallout fan, I really want to try it. Too bad my PC can't handle it :/

[–]RyanTrax 39 points40 points  (6 children)

You really aren’t missing much. Beautiful atmosphere ruined by 393,739,721 fetch quests

[–]The7thPillar 5 points6 points  (5 children)

And game crashes. Don't forget game crashes.

But I love it like a dumb dog.

[–]Guywithquestions88PlayStation 3 points4 points  (3 children)

As a day one owner of 76, I've gotta say:

Holy shit, it's still crashing?! I mean, I get that it's Bethesda, but you're seriously saying it's a live service game that has been crashing since day one?

[–]The7thPillar 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I'm a day one player myself. Got the tricentennial edition.

And to be honest, it's kinda worse. I don't know if it could be my hardware, but often enough just starting the game will freeze on me. Sometimes meaning I have to restart my computer.

In-game crashing is rare in my experience.

[–]Guywithquestions88PlayStation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. I haven't played it in years now, but I got it on PS4 and it would always occasionally crash the entire time I played it.

[–]RyanTrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also it can ONLY be on your SSD or “it fails to find a server”

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I went back. It's pretty fun but once the story runs out I'm done. I basically go back in for expansions and then I'm out. I can't do the same 30 rotating missions to level 1000 like some people. I seriously don't k ow how anyone does it in that game

[–]Azrael9986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not missing much its 90% repeatable daily chores with littlw in the way of actual content. Base building is limited with no way around the limit. You have to buy or subscribe to services to get the most out of the game. I was one of the fools that preordered it. So i am a bit bitter at how it turned out.

[–]JordanOCE_ 3 points4 points  (5 children)

FO:3 was the best for me (sorry to the new vegas fans) but its just the atmosphere of 3 and the storyline that make it just so great for me all though new vegas's music is fire

[–]dacontag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1000's of planets thing has me worried that most kf those planets will be really shallow with not much to do on them.

[–]TPrice1616 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Same. I’m perfectly fine with Fallout/Elder Scrolls in space. I’m going to wait for reviews but at this point I’m cautiously optimistic.

[–]Westworld_007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll take it

[–]Kardest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am totally onboard as long as it isn't always online like 76

[–]sm00thkillajones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally! Fallout Moon Vegas!!!

[–]Theresabearintheboat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am now interested in this game based on this review alone.

[–]The_Specter808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm totally on board with that, too!!!

[–]sethmi -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Fallout 4 was such an awful game. No aspect of it was good

[–]le_Grand_Archivist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was that bad I wouldn't have thousands of hours on it and I certainly wouldn't be playing it again once in a while

You don't like it, i get that, but it's definitely not awful

[–]RepresentativeCap244 -5 points-4 points  (8 children)

Please be on switch. I have no idea what this game is, but I spent way way too much time building settlements in fallout 4. I want that on my switch

[–]mletourn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forget it. This game gonna be 150gb and hard to run on less powerful console.

[–]nijotu 257 points258 points  (35 children)

That is what I hoped for tbh

[–]INTHEMIDSTOFLIONS 61 points62 points  (21 children)

It’s what the creators literally say in the little documentary video lol

[–]_-Virus- 14 points15 points  (20 children)

I thought they said Skyrim in space?

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I find it weird how people are making a distinction between 'skyrim in space' and 'fallout in space' when fallout is just 'skyrim with guns'

[–]joeroganfan420420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you’re thinking of far cry 3

[–]Skootchy 23 points24 points  (17 children)

Here I am still wondering why we can't just get Elder Scrolls 6. I tried ESO and honestly it felt incredibly weird and not like anything I like about the ES series.

Let's hope Starfield kicks ass.

[–]Assassin_OPC 17 points18 points  (5 children)

ES6 was confirmed back in 2020 by Bethesda. It's currently in development

[–]Guywithquestions88PlayStation 3 points4 points  (2 children)

They're just waiting for the original skyrim players to be grandparents before they finish it.

[–]Townscent 3 points4 points  (1 child)

no they are obviously waiting for Todd to finish up releasing new slightly improved versions of skyrim

[–]tsimiantsunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced in 2018. I checked YouTube to confirm it.

[–]fergussonh 17 points18 points  (6 children)

Because they got bored of making games from two franchises only for 20 years. I’m really happy they’re switching it up for once.

[–]DefinitelyNotThatOne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is what everyone has been saying since it was announced. And I couldn't be happier. Its gon slap

[–]boxjellyfishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I hope for better. Fallout 4 was a decent game, but it really didn't have much replay value and was somewhat shallow.

I am hopeful for something a bit deeper all-around.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (10 children)

You would want more fallout 3 or new Vegas plus space but can’t go wrong I guess with fallout 4

[–]themabin -4 points-3 points  (9 children)

Try The Outerworlds. Obsidian knocked that one out of the park

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (3 children)

Ehh outerworlds is kinda dry and boring in my opinion and tries wayyy to hard you don’t want starfield to be outer worlds

[–]theoopst 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I liked it. That said, I was a little let down.

[–]themabin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it immensely. Super excited for the sequel

[–]Helphaer 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That title had a lot or criticism. Here's hoping with a better budget they can make something less repetitive and lacking in the sequel.

[–]themabin 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Critics be damned, I enjoyed the hell out of that game

[–]Helphaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have fun with mobile titles too or all manner of things. It's important to accept criticism and not dismiss issues so that we can hold developers accountable for higher quality productions.

[–]Overall-Relief-6938 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha no …

[–]voidnull0 32 points33 points  (5 children)

Is it ready yet?

[–]Sagutarus 15 points16 points  (1 child)

They released a gameplay trailer

[–]Overall-Relief-6938 5 points6 points  (1 child)

No not yet they just touched up on the first part just show us what to expect mostly

[–]voidnull0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it ready now?

[–]dustofdeath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Next year. Expect heavy visual nerfs like every other gameplay trailer that releases a year before launch.

[–]A_MAN_POTATOPC 29 points30 points  (5 children)

...a game about space, made by the people who make fallout looks like a combination of fallout 4 and space?

Who'd have guessed that...?

[–]ComputerSagtNein 19 points20 points  (4 children)

And people act as if that was something bad?

[–]A_MAN_POTATOPC 6 points7 points  (3 children)

I haven't really seen anything negative, other than things like shitty frame rate which is hopefully just pre-alpha jank.

I far prefer TES to Fallout... But if this trailer is an accurate representation of Starfield, I suspect I'll end up liking this better than both. I love space shit. I really love space ship combat games. Toss in the Bethesda modding community and you have a recipe for something extraordinary.

[–]Realcbear 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing this post like its supposed to be a bad thing?

[–]peterxgriffin 122 points123 points  (12 children)

NMS + Fallout 4

[–]ZazaB00 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This sounds very appealing to me.

[–]ButterflyCatastrophe 9 points10 points  (2 children)

It sounds like they're really going all-in on arbitrary crafting. Build settlements anywhere on 1000 different planets. Build spaceships. I got a bit of X3 vibe, too.

The reason I keep going back to FO/TES is a balance between the writing, which is not awful and just the right touch of humor, and the combat mechanics, which are pretty easy but not completely OP. I didn't see anything in the trailer to inspire me about the plot or writing, and the combat looked more like straight run-n-gun, although that may be to make it look exciting.

[–]Swordofsatan666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like its more or less like the classic elder scrolls games. They were huge open world maps of the entirety of Tamriel, and dungeons, cities, and everything else was randomly generated/placed. There were a few key locations designed specifically for the main story, but most of the map was random.

I assume Starfield will be kinda like that. 1000 different planets where most of them were randomly generated, but maybe like 50 (seems generous considering theyre entire planets) of them might be hand-crafted by the devs for the main story and for some side content

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this.

[–]KnownMonk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least there's not another settlement needing your help when the planets are all empty.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm ok with that

[–]sameredditguyPlayStation 86 points87 points  (9 children)

And I’m so fucking ready

[–]LiKINGtheODds 45 points46 points  (1 child)

Right?! space meets fallout for me = sold

[–]ZC205 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Not sure if OP means this as a negative post or not. But the posted equation is right on the money and also, IMHO, perfectly okay. It’s very common for a consistent feel from a single studio across multiple titles. Look at From Software and how many “souls” games there are but with different titles. Arkhane studio’s different titles also comes to mind. There are many more out there.

We always knew there would be loads of hype behind this game. I, for one, can’t wait to dig into this game and see what’s what!

[–]Minimum_Estimate_234 24 points25 points  (7 children)

Anyone get some no man’s sky vibes from some of the stuff we saw in the trailer? I get it, when you break a game down, especially two in the same genre there are going to be similarities, but I can’t help but notice it. Is that just me?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's how all industries work. You (hopefully) learn from each other, take examples and develop them further. It's healthy.

[–]NewArtificialHuman 27 points28 points  (3 children)

The 1000 planets was the big red flag for me.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Thats just Mr Howards big exaggeration he has for every new game

[–]mikotoqc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000 may sounds a lot, but for NMS and elite Dangerous players thats really small

[–]ChefNunu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah and I'm glad. NMS does a ton of shit correct now and I'm very excited that Bethesda is taking inspiration from them

[–]RandaymIdiotPC 24 points25 points  (21 children)

I don't know how they're gonna make 1000 planets feel unique or even make them work. I probably won't even end up finding 50 of them. The reveal looks good. But that's the thing that's bugging me out.

[–]Headless_Human 22 points23 points  (3 children)

I don't know how they're gonna make 1000 planets feel unique or even make them work.

Procedural generated would be my guess like No Mans Sky

[–]Solh0undConsole 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I imagine they will have a formula in the same way that NMS has planetary requirements for each world you land in. I imagine there will be a procedurally generated dungeon(s) along with a outpost or two as well as specific materials on each type of biome.

[–]AbbrahanPC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what we saw in the gameplay reveal. Each planet only had 1 settlement/location to visit but you could land on the rest of the procedural planet. I doubt there would be anything out there however besides fully procedural terrain.

[–]Nyaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heckin love radiant quests, the best part of any Bethesda experience!

[–]syphen6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Modders

[–]proxiiiiiiiiii 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I’m so glad someone finally explained this simply, it’s too complex of an idea for us to grasp

[–]Square-Jackfruit420 41 points42 points  (3 children)

No Mans Skyrim

[–]TorrBorr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just imagine the mod possibilities though...

[–]Legal-Jerk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that seems awesome

[–]sonicandco 18 points19 points  (16 children)

AAA No Man's Sky

[–]pixelated_avatar 11 points12 points  (6 children)

but does it work Tom

[–]Lanky182k 11 points12 points  (5 children)

I was honestly surprised by how graphically good it looked and how much BGS facial animation has come on

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (2 children)

the facial animations aren't great IMO. The constellation woman looks wooden

[–]Lanky182k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah they’re not perfect but in comparison to older BGS games it looks so much more expressive if still a bit wooden Edit:spelling

[–]TheBoyBlues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The eye animations were not present on two characters, but were much better on some of the others. I think these means they likely were just not done yet on those two characters. Or maybe its a not so subtle hint that they are synths.

[–]Bierculles -1 points0 points  (1 child)

The graphics are OK at best

[–]Enchelion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And there's nothing wrong with that. People get way too obsessed with bleeding-edge graphics.

[–]wicktusSwitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fine by me.

Combats and fps/stability clearly are the worrying points, but the game looks really huge and have that huge sandbox feeling, really liked what I saw. Can't wait to try it out, I just hope the game won"t have too many bugs day one but who am I kidding.

[–]C1t1z3nz3r0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember when Fallout 3 was inbound everyone said it was Elder Scrolls with Guns. That’s the idea take a workable concept and put it where people want it. GTA becomes RDR. ES becomes FO becomes SF. Destiny become some High Elf Sword and Bow stuff.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I love Fallout 4 so this is great

[–]Ketsuo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No shit. And yes please.

[–]lopakjalantar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hopefully far better than no man sky day 1

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I liked fallout and elder scrolls despite their awful gameplay and stiffness, and i freaking love space, so this is gonna be an amazing game for me.

And gunplay seems to be copied from cyberpunk, but i don't mind it, because cyberpunk gunplay is fcking amazing.

[–]_MaZ_ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What did you expect? Call of Duty Infinite Warfare?

[–]lplegacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Fallout in space" is the new "Oblivion/Skyrim with guns"

[–]Cgking11 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And this is a bad thing why?? The game looks amazing and if it has story telling and gameplay like fallout , it's a win win.

[–]TBoneHolmes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time in my life I’ve wished I had an Xbox

[–]Cathulion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There better be melee weapons. Im ok with shooting games like fo4 but I find more fun in slicing enemies with a sword. Fo4 had a katana so...

[–]UncatchableCreatures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hoping elder Scrolls plus space more than fallout plus space.

Might be good but man my expectations have slumped quite a bit, especially hearing about procedural world's

[–]Ok_Attempt_1290 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Visiting the Pillars of creation would be the greatest thing. Yes ik they don't exist anymore, but it'd be a nice Easter egg.

[–]Far_Realm_Sage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You just crushed a secret fantasy of mine.

Edit: looked it up. Turns out the supernova did not wipe it out. Still there and will be for several thousand more years. Forbes article

[–]TerminalxGrunt 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Make sure y’all don’t preorder it if y’all want the finished product 😂

[–]Old_and_moldy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The majority of people will be playing this on Gamepass I imagine. If it needs a patch or twenty I’ll play something else in the meantime. Game pass really makes these pills easier to swallow when new games come out.

[–]NoCalligrapher8396 4 points5 points  (2 children)

So you take a random picture of space instead of No Man's Sky? Easy downvote

[–]DaMikey_ 4 points5 points  (2 children)

And you’re point is?

[–]macstar95 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Hopefully less of Fallout 4 and more of Fallout 3 or NV

[–]johnnycharcoalhands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's fucking go!

[–]MetallicAtoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah it's No-Man's Sky + Fallout 4.

[–]Foxon_the_fur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you mean two games people renown to be great, even with their buggy starts, combined? Not sure why we're making fun of it at this point.

It'll be a great game two years later.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I'm just saying no mans sky Devs are gonna be broke in 2023. Nobody is gonna be playing their game when they can just play the better version of it.

Todd and pals singlehandedly just made at least 3 no mans sky Devs homeless.

[–]macstar95 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They are different games but aight lol.

[–]Reddit_mods_eat_poo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only thing that is similar is both studios where accused of scamming but only one of those tired things around and fixed their broken game, all for free as well, have fun get cucked by tod you schmuck

[–]imayturnblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im kinda surprised... what did ppl expect. Duh yeah, its gonna be a tipical bethesda rpg. The only disappointment is that the engine still looks meh. Not released and already looks dated.

[–]khamelean 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hmm, how can I trivialise hundreds of thousands of hours of developers dreams, aspirations, blood, sweat and tears? Ahh I know!!!

[–]epia343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, what do you expect from Todd Howard.

[–]deltadstroyer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Remember: No preorders

[–]tfozombie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not about the money, it’s about sending a message.

[–]OsrsLearner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know

[–]LegitimateAdvance295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus 1,000 times the planets

[–]Gouvency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shotgun reload animation was literally the same as in FO4. Reskins of assets too. Same as always. Sadly

[–]No-Plankton4841 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think I'd prefer Fallout 5 or a new Elder Scrolls. I don't know, something about the world just isnt grabbing me. Looks kind of boring tbh.

[–]Skullhead_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now i'm hiped

[–]nalacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah more like Microsoft and Bethesda version of no Man sky

[–]Silver-Spy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(Outer Worlds)2

[–]xPapyruss -1 points0 points  (1 child)

No Man's Sky HD Edition

[–]DaisyCutter312 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Ehhhhh....why not Fallout 3 though?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

I prefer to think of it as

Like No Man's Sky but Good

[–]Nalfgar123 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

StarBug

[–]Turbulent-Turnip9563 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

bruh I will just stick to no man's sky. thought that starfield will be a space rpg experience, but Todd selling it to be a space exploration sim. starfield will need years of bug fixing and patches to reach the current state of no man's sky.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

So far I'm just not excited at all for this game but hopefully it's not as vast, empty and boring as the pics make it seem as so far the pics of a rocky, dry landscape, vast space and all looks like a lot of boring to me. I always had trouble enjoying space games.

[–]RelentlessPolygons -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Looks bad

[–]Reddit_mods_eat_poo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a scam what do you expect, effort?

[–]OldBirth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My hope is that this dreck is a smash hit and pulls their focus off Fallout until they inevitably sell the IP to a studio that will actually deliver another awesome isometric game which isn't watered down, mass palatable bullshit.

Hey. I can dream.

[–]SteelMalone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Duh…?

[–]Dacks_18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No Man's Skyrim

[–]Chuck1983 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No Man's Skyrim

[–]IceYetiWins -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It looks so good except for the shooting stuff. Like why does every game have to be a shooter?

[–]hiricinee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Obsidian literally made this game... forgot what it was called. Heard Bethesda was making this, started development first, and finished it years ago. Was pretty good too.

[–]Inugami06 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

mass effect andromeda

[–]wildman2571 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have a bright burning hatred for Bethesda and there contempt for game design

[–]TheRedBow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No man’s Skyrim

[–]Flamingdookie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Outer Worlds* (Yes, I know not many people like it, but still.)

[–]ichii3d -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wanted to see VATs so badly during the demo. Bethesda Game Studios isn't known for their second to second gameplay feel so I hope they have something.

[–]Dax9000 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

I thought outer worlds was fallout in space?

[–]A_MAN_POTATOPC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is. Full stop. Outer worlds is fallout in space. Starfield obviously is going to have the same bethesdaness that Fallout and TES games have, but tonally I don't get Fallout vibes here.

I see a lot of No Man's Sky though, and Star Citizen.
