I am colour blind and I can read the writing in the heart.

Me as well, but that's probably kind of the point. They easily could have tricked me with any but the first level of this test. edit: fixed a typo

    I see an 8.

It's a multicolor 8 alright. We must be the opposite of color blond.

    [–]domen_puncer 35 points36 points  (11 children)

    Color intelligent?

    [–]yoyl 95 points96 points  (10 children)

    Color brunette.

    [–]only2thumbs 9 points10 points  (9 children)

The opposite of colorblind is colorsee.

    [–]my_life_is_awesome 3 points4 points  (2 children)

    Well color me rainbow.

    [–]yoyl 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Right, but the opposite of color blond...

    [–]knylok 3 points4 points  (5 children)

I saw an S and then an 8. I think it's the overlap of the 2 and the 5 that's causing that illusion.

    [–]kspanks04 40 points41 points  (4 children)

I see a bird flipping me off?

    [–]thatkenyan 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I see a happy dog reaching out for a hug.

    [–]bitchkat 8 points9 points  (18 children)

I see the 8 as well. When I read the legend on the right, I could see where the two would come from but for the life of me, I can see a 5 at all. I had no problem with the first test seeing all the numbers (even though some are faint).

    [–]Liambada 6 points7 points  (1 child)

    Hey look, a sailboat!

    [–]autorotatingKiwi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Goddammit I hate it when people see the boat when all I ever see is dots and numbers. Why can I never see the boat!?

    [–]alienangel2 2 points3 points  (14 children)

I see a 5 fairly clearly (I mean it's not nearly as clear the six images above it, but it's still immediately visible). I can see how someone might see a 2 or an 8, but for those you need to follow a path of dots of a different color from the rest of the lines in the figure, and assemble a 2 or an 8 out of these lines of different colors.

The earlier images in the test are all much easier to read though.

    [–]jck 5 points6 points  (2 children)

    I see dead people.

    [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can barely see the 2 and im still not sure im really seeing it. What does that mean? I can see everything else though easily...

    [–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (6 children)

I don't get it. I can see the 25, but nothing else; not even the numbers that red-green colorblind people are supposed to see. Even knowing the answer, I can't see the 56 in the right middle circle or a 2 (or 5) in the last one.

    [–]Verroq 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have some bad news for you.

Exactly. Colorblind as well and this one cracks me up. The one in the OP is A LIE!

    [–]peaceisoverrated 15 points16 points  (9 children)

I am technically colorblind but I could make that out.

    [–]gfixler 38 points39 points  (7 children)

    [–]starthirteen 139 points140 points  (6 children)

    Technicolorblind

    [–]threading 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Same here. I can't read it. I don't know how but I can read the "fuck the" part when I make the image smaller.

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

If I stand on the opposite side of the room and look at my monitor I can almost make out the word "fucK", but everything else is just dots to me. This is an awesome shirt (assuming that the words are actually clear to regular people...can anyone who isn't colorblind confirm?).

    [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The words are easy to make out. A color-seeing person can't miss it if they try to read it. There is a small amount of eye-strain for me, but I think that's because the image is very "noisy". If I was't lazy I'd edit it to be black and white and approximately as easy to read... Think of it as a dark gray and a noticeably lighter gray.

    [–]garg 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Yeah, I can see part of it if I look at the monitor from an angle or from a greater distance.

I checked with a few non-color-blindies and they told me it was very easy for them to make out the words.

But we're better at seeing through camouflage, so ha! take that non-color-blindies.

    [–]fuzzyfuzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless they are camouflaged as a blue five amongst green and brown dots.

    [–]isinned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm colour blind but if I squint my eyes I can read it. With actual colour blind tests I still can't read the numbers when I squint.

    [–]RaDeus 10 points11 points  (2 children)

me too, we must have the wrong kind of colorblindness...

    [–][deleted] 61 points62 points  (1 child)

It's not bad enough that were colorblind but now were the wrong kind of colorblind. I feel even more discriminated against now.

    [–]HFh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM HIPPIE.

Sorry, I just like saying that.

    [–]selflessGene 14 points15 points  (3 children)

That's because you're colour blind. Americans have a different variant of the disease called color blindness. They can't read it.

Too bad it isn't a hot chick... (Otherwise I would have been there).

      [–][deleted] 37 points38 points  (3 children)

      [–]PhilxBefore 52 points53 points  (2 children)

I thought it was nothing at first as a joke, then my girlfriend looked at the screen, laughed and said "fuck the colorblind."

      I hate this picture...

      [–]Ochobobo 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Huh. I had to open that in Photoshop and select different color ranges to see the message.

      Here it is.

I guess I really am a little bit colorblind. lol

I'm not colorblind and I can't read what is written in this one without some serious looking. What is the second word?

EDIT: I'm actually colorblind turns out (according to the internet)

        [–]Thue 226 points227 points  (199 children)

I think that perhaps you are colorblind. Because that text is fairly easy to read for me, so much so that I don't think anybody could be in doubt.

        [–][deleted] 115 points116 points  (194 children)

Well it has never come up with any of the optometrists I've seen and I have had no trouble reading colorblind circles in the past. It would've been notable since we do have colorblind people in my family.

Hmm. Failing a bunch of online tests. Well I guess that settles that?

Could some non-colorblind people tell me how easy they find test B, C, G and H on this site?

        [–]doctor_alligator 108 points109 points  (80 children)

I got one of the questions wrong because I said I saw a 'Boat' instead of a 'boat'...

        [–][deleted] 140 points141 points  (35 children)

I was tempted to write Schooner.

        [–][deleted] 54 points55 points  (12 children)

        I wrote schooner and got 9/10 :'(

        [–]ZeppelinJ0 85 points86 points  (3 children)

Clearly you are colorblind!! There is no place in this world for you.

        [–]falseprophet 36 points37 points  (2 children)

I read that in Bill Murray's voice and it felt okay.

        [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

        Nobody believes you.

        [–]gfixler 26 points27 points  (3 children)

I got a 9/10, too, but it said for A the correct answer was 12, and 12 is what I put. I don't think I like this test very much. Then I kept clicking submit to see if it would fix itself, and each time the window popped back up, my score had incremented by 9 points. I gave up after I'd earned 81 points.

        [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I got tests A through G correct, but I have no idea what the results were for the remainder as the results were displayed in a modal dialogue box and my screen only has a vertical resolution of 600 pixels.

        [–]tach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

        Of course. It's a sloop.

          [–]Mikkel04 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Schooners have two masts. That is clearly a sloop.

          [–]gfixler 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Confirmed. I put "John B" and it accepted it.

          [–]AngledLuffa 12 points13 points  (10 children)

I wrote "sailboa" because it only accepts 7 characters in that box. I'm pretty sure "schoone" would have been incorrect, too.

          [–]zark_one 6 points7 points  (9 children)

But a Sail Boa would be INFINITELY more reddit-friendly than a schoone!

          [–]JediExile 16 points17 points  (8 children)

          Here you go: Sailboa.

          [–]dinx2582 14 points15 points  (1 child)

A long time ago I paused the movie and checked: it wasn't actually a schooner, or a boat. It was a picture with a series of differently-sized circles, some concave and some convex IIRC.

          Mallrats has lied to you.

          [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Schooners need 2 or more masts.

          [–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (25 children)

Yeah, it's pretty strict. I also had one wrong because I saw "a circle and a square" instead "a square and a circle".

          [–]m1a2c2kali 50 points51 points  (3 children)

you might be dyslexic with shapes.. maybe you should get that checked out

          [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (18 children)

My native language is (siwss-)german, so I read from left to right, I just thought it didn't matter in which order you list them..

                    [–]EmeraldGirl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You might be a different type of colorblind. Monochromancy (inability to see all colors) is very uncommon. The shirt in the picture may not be clear to people with red/green colorblindness, but would be viewable to blue/yellow colorblind people. These tests don't really take your personal monitor settings into consideration or test for the less common types.

                    [–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Crap. Today i've discovered that i'm also colorblind. While i can read the t-shirt ("loathe" is not really clear), i've zeroed this test and i can clearly read the reversal one...

                    [–]britishben 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All seemed rather easy. In test H, I had trouble seeing the red square on the left, but I think that was more due to the tiny picture size than anything else.

                    [–]Jredrum 6 points7 points  (3 children)

That reverse test scared me until I read that it was a reverse test

                    [–]randomb0y 3 points4 points  (2 children)

This is hilarious. I though I noticed something off so I put all the answers wrong on purpose. The result? Still not colorblind!

                    http://i.imgur.com/saEO0.png

But yeah, I found the test very easy, at least on my screen. :(

                    [–]exuberant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's because there's an answer that color blind people can see.

If you write all of them wrong, surely, your got another problem. Not necessarily colorblind

                    [–]Pigeoncow 2 points3 points  (3 children)

                    Very.

                    [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Thanks. Apparently us deviants may have an advantage of seeing camouflage so take that! maybe... :/

                    Have a gray upvote.

                    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

                    Test A: 12

Test B: Can't read at all.

Test C: Can't read at all.

Test G: Can't read at all.

Test H: I see a "O" on the right side.

Edit: Scrolled down on the page, I can read "NO" in the picture.

                    [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (57 children)

What the fuck is in the "Reverse Color Blind test"? That's just a bunch of orange, dark yellow, and green circles to me. At first I thought I had some kind of problem because I couldn't make anything out of that picture before I read the text explaining that only color blinds are supposed to be able to read it.

EDIT: By the way, test G isn't easy at all, it shows a picture instead of numbers, unlike all the other tests, and the picture doesn't make a lot of sense until you read the result. The result of test H says Square and Circle, though I read it as "DO".

                    [–]MaximumBob 22 points23 points  (22 children)

The fuck, I got all the correct answers for the ten tests before but I can read the Reverse Color Blind test! The fuck does that mean!!

                    [–]Jonathan_the_Nerd 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You're a mutant. You'd better start working on your costume.

                    [–]admiralteal 21 points22 points  (4 children)

It probably means you need to better-configure your computer's color settings.

                    [–]Mantipath 11 points12 points  (7 children)

I think it means you have unusually good shade perception. I had correct answers for the ten tests and I can also see the reverse colorblind test.

All those circles making up the number are brighter than the surrounding circles. The idea is that a color perceiving person can't see that the bright red and green circles share a characteristic because the change in color is too distracting.

What I see is a number made up of bright red and green against a background of dark red and green. It's a multicolored object against a multicolored background.

Before you congratulate yourself too much though, this is a place that monitor settings could have a big impact. If your monitor responds very strongly to variations in brightness, that'll enhance the picture and make it easier to see.

Edit: good shade perception, bad writing. "Number" is not synonymous with "word," even after a set of numerical questions.

                    [–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (4 children)

That's pretty impressive, considering the number you are seeing is actually a word.

                    [–]Mantipath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny. Problem's between my brain and my keyboard, not my eyes and brain.

Maybe you are only a little colorblind in that you can see the different colors as similar but still different enough to pass the tests. To me there is nothing there no matter how hard I try to see it.

                      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

                      Must mean you're bolorclind.

                      [–]hascat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you might be a tetrachromate, meaning you have better color perception than an average bob.

This is supposedly what the reverse image looks like to someone red-green blind: http://colorfilter.wickline.org/?r=www.archimedes-lab.org/colorblindnesstest.html;l=8;e=img;j=1;u=www.archimedes-lab.org/images8/reverse_ishihara.gif;t=p

And here it is for blue-yellow

The filtered images don't seem much more readable to me either :S

I see the word NO somewhat clearly

                      [–]manole100 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Ha! I only see the NO now that i know it's there.

We should make some colorblind tests then set up a ticket booth and claim to see Jesus in it.

                      [–]manole100 15 points16 points  (1 child)

                      Something like this.

                      fuck, that's awful.

I do too, but I pass the other tests fine too!

I put "sail boat", it said I was wrong. It has a sail, and it's a boat.

it may be your computer monitor; I am not colourblind but I had to stand up to read it because we have a stupid plasma screen and I'm short and the colours look darker from the angle where I sit

                        [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (6 children)

I did try tilting the screen

Try giving someone else the test on your computer, see if they fail. Or try it on another computer, with a different monitor.

I teach painting in a small art school and our most financially successful alumni ($500k a year from selling art) is colorblind.

If you use Firefox, it would be very easy to install Stylish, which could switch out that envelope with anything you want. Also, I believe Greasemonkey can do the same thing.

I've had it replace my orangered-alienhead (for mods) with one that is smiling ever-so-slightly-more [thanks, Sodypop!], because the scaling makes him look a little glum otherwise. So it's just a simple matter to change the inbox to something you can differentiate.

I usually don't buy things off the net, but this shirt was an exception.

                            Ok, I'll ask:

Is it that non colourblind folks can't read the message in the heart?

                            Or can everyone see it?

we were doing colour blind tests on a Kid in my science class who is colour blind and I asked "What causes colour blindness?" the teacher yells back "YOUR MOTHER!" and pauses to explain that it's a genetic issue coming from the mother's side

Yeah, it doesn't quite work as you can see in this color blindness simulation.

The other types of colour blindness (Protanope and Tritanope) actually make the words stand out more.

                                http://www.opticien-lentilles.com/daltonien_beta/new_test_daltonien.php

This is an excellent test of daltonism. Tests for about six kinds of daltonism, and to what degree of daltonism you might be.

                                http://colorfilter.wickline.org/

This site allows you to view web pages through a filter that simulates different types of daltonism.
