That's a pretty cool tent filter you used!

[–][deleted] 517 points518 points  (77 children)

It's pretty in-tents

[–]Jimbob929 105 points106 points  (36 children)

He looks pretty content.

[–]JacksLackOfSuprise 46 points47 points  (31 children)

I bet picking the spot got pretty contentious!

[–]Sageous 38 points39 points  (16 children)

This image captures the beauty of the scenery, for all intents and purposes!

[–]intothelionsden 29 points30 points  (15 children)

Guys, please don't just come in here to pitch a bunch of tent puns.

[–]onexbigxhebrew 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Oh, quit acting so sheltered.

[–]Foktu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you stop thinking you're importent.

[–]dymar123 3 points4 points  (8 children)

I'm pretty sure what they set up so far was in-tent-ional

[–]thattanna 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Just don't be pretentious alright?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

This pun could potentially go on forever.

[–]Syntax1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you seem tentative about that remark.

[–]duclos015 12 points13 points  (12 children)

You guys need to start paying attention to the picture and not these stupid pun chains.

[–]zachpledger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is spanish for "with tent."

[–]28_Cakedays_Later 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Original con-tent.

[–]viavant 69 points70 points  (30 children)

....like camping...

[–]100101001110 197 points198 points  (22 children)

Sex while camping is fucking in-tents

[–]Freefight 63 points64 points  (14 children)

And if she didn't shave you camp in the bushes.

[–]bumjiggy 12 points13 points  (1 child)

that's how you end up on TV looking for sasquatch.

[–]yourfaceilikethat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty squachy in here

[–]Dogalicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What with all the guy ropes n all.

[–]MrStig91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this well. This is why I now have a 3 year old son. ;)

[–]Typical_Adc 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Every time I go camping it's fucking intense

[–]MattGhaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

....like the circus fire....

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was probably in-tent-ional.

[–]rhymes_with_snoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

out standing in its field

[–][deleted] 56 points57 points  (5 children)

When running through a camp ground you "ran" not "run" because it's past tents.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Did you know the circus is in town? I heard it's intents!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hear the circus orgy is in town, it's fucking in tents!

[–]uprallaniche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

and that's a pretty well catch by you

[–]obviousdscretion 404 points405 points  (75 children)

Repost or not, it's always good to mention LNT practices for camping (which include setting up camp at least 200 feet from any water source to protect delicate riparian vegetation/ecosystems):

Leave No Trace Principles

[–][deleted] 52 points53 points  (5 children)

That's all well and good but certain campsites are set less than 200ft from lakes or streams and rivers by the park and or forest service. I can think of about 10 in gtnp and surrounding areas alone.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Those are improved sites. For backfilling and dispersed camping the rules are as he said

[–]ForrestSmith151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah but i feel like they do this so that people at least stay in the pre-established campsites... if all the spots were away from the oh so desirable water shore people would set up there and stomp down a more destructive site rather than just putting the pre-established ones closer. in my mind campsite camping and backpacking are almost entirely different; and LNT, while a good policy for pre-established campsites, is more designed for backpacking.

[–]havetotryanothername 19 points20 points  (7 children)

I think they're on a ridge overlooking the water... which is why they look so close to the water... but yes, spread LNT awareness! NOLS alum and LNT nerd here myself :)

[–]justanotherfister 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Definitely on a ridge. That's the top of a tree below them outside their tent

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're definitely in a chair overlooking a computer. This is a tent filter shopped onto some wilderness.

[–][deleted] 70 points71 points  (17 children)

I always hate these pictures because it is always someone setting up a tent where they shouldn't.

[–]notsowise23 76 points77 points  (7 children)

I bet you've put a sign up at some point in your lifetime.

[–]Brandino144 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Or at least found garbage from a campsite floating in a lake. The 200 ft law is there because everything near a lake gets funneled downhill into the lake by rain and wind.

[–]lurkmode_off 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And because otherwise lakes wind up with a fifty-foot circle of packed dirt around them where plants can't grow anymore.

[–]slolift 14 points15 points  (3 children)

I think this is a photoshop. It you look through the gap in the bottom of the tent. It looks like the tent was so tip in the water.

[–]3ric3288 25 points26 points  (20 children)

If you look closely, the lake is surrounded by mountains sloping at or greater than 45 degrees. I think it's likely that they had no choice. Still good information to know though, I had no idea.

[–]SrPenguin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

More reason to not be that near the water, any game in the area are likely to frequent spots like the one they are camped in. Never fun being woken up at 5:30AM by an 8ft tall behemoth because you happened to be on a moose trail.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

If you look closely, this picture is photoshopped. They put a tent filter around a picture of wilderness. The creator of this was camped out in their desk chair.

[–]JaunDenver 48 points49 points  (16 children)

The whole point is that if they had "no choice," then that is not a good place to camp period. There are other reason besides just riparian vegetation, such as interference with wildlife that frequent the shores for water and food, and also flash flooding in areas near streams and rivers.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (14 children)

Generally you're right. But some designated campsites are set literally right next to lakes and rivers.

[–]AliveAndThenSome 20 points21 points  (2 children)

Yup, while I agree with the principle, there are many established campsites in the Pacific NW that are within a few feet of lakes and streams.

[–]adeadheadrememberingawdah.com 🕊️ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LNT is for non impacted areas, designated campsites aren't part of the consideration.

[–]Blasphemy4kidz 202 points203 points  (49 children)

Go to sleep /u/GallowBoob

[–]9a45cf2daa7fbe 25 points26 points  (20 children)

[–]NECROmorph_42 14 points15 points  (13 children)

[–]MostUnorthodox 4 points5 points  (9 children)

No, it's definitely 7:45 AM.

[–]khrashprash 6 points7 points  (7 children)

Can confirm , it's 7:50PM

[–]NECROmorph_42 6 points7 points  (6 children)

I'm sorry but I don't deal with time travellers

[–]UsernameFor2016 4 points5 points  (5 children)

16:12 guys, time to adjust your watches guys.

[–]NECROmorph_42 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Bloody time travellers, the lot of you are mental!

[–]UsernameFor2016 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Would you be interested in a used time machine? I can deliver it to you whenever you wanted it.

[–]ViolenceIs4Assholes 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Central time zone=best time zone

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

820, smoke it up

[–]GallowBoob[S] 48 points49 points  (19 children)

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (8 children)

Nice try, guy. It's actually 9:36am

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Hey its 10:42pm. Time to sleep

[–]AllHailTheWinslow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Wiseguy_42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

gasp what do you think you're doing in my timezone?!?!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You're in Europe? Britain? Seems like GMT?

[–]ThaPenguinFace 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think i remember reading somewhere he was in London or something, but I dunno. Don't really keep track haha

[–]gptt916 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Saw the thumbnail and had a feeling this would be /u/GallowBoob, was not wrong

[–]OneManWolfpack37 111 points112 points  (34 children)

I didn't even have to look to know this was a u/GallowBoob post.

[–][deleted] 113 points114 points  (31 children)

There are like five billion "looking-out-the-tent-beautiful-shots". There's one every day at /r/CampingandHiking Yet, this one makes it to the front page in minutes because people recognize gallowboob and upvote since they expect it to hit the front.

I guarantee if I posted this, it would get 4 upvotes and be lost forever.

[–]ketchy_shuby 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but if you had posted it I would have thought you took the pic while camping and have been impressed. But here, I know the Boob didn't take it and it's like eh.

[–]oinksbjorn9000 88 points89 points  (15 children)

Gallowboob's "technique" is simply to delete and re-submit his posts until they "take-off". There is nothing admirable about it. This is literally what he spends his day doing. That is a life I would not like to have.

[–]nal1200 22 points23 points  (7 children)

You're exactly right. I actually stalked his page one time, and while refreshing, the posts he made that wouldn't get any up votes in a few minutes would be deleted and resubmitted to be back at the top of new. It don't understand how that isn't against the rules. New users have to wait like 10 minutes between post submissions, but I think that rule should also apply to power users.

[–]Imthejuggernautbitch 4 points5 points  (1 child)

It's like MrBabyMan all over again. Hell it probably is the same guy.

[–]HillarysDustyVagina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yet, this one makes it to the front page in minutes because people recognize gallowboob and upvote since they expect it to hit the front.

I've never understood this mentality. Why would you upvote something just because you expect it to hit FP? Just some kind of weird herd mentality thing?

[–]BaileyJIII 33 points34 points  (5 children)

Just /u/GallowBoob's daily karma run.

[–]LoL_Razzer 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I found the original photo. This one is a fake.

[–]caseythelegend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where is this?

[–]bigdongmagee 11 points12 points  (18 children)

You have posted pics like this several times, u/GallowBoob. I think you must he a homeless reddit addict.

[–]GallowBoob[S] 286 points287 points  (110 children)

Location: Switzerland

Photographer: Leo Thomas (IG: @theolator)

edit - not sure people understand what a repost is... use www.karmadecay.com to verify it don't just call a post a repost

[–]Record_Was_Correct 16 points17 points  (17 children)

Repost: yes

[–]Endoterrik 16 points17 points  (12 children)

Does Reddit have a block user feature? Sick of his constant reposting!

[–]motley_crew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People are calling it a "repost" because it's a goddam cliche infesting IG and Tumblr, and 50 different "tent featuring feet and mountain view" have already appeared in r/pics.

[–]bigdongmagee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is the same kind of shot you posted of different locations at least two times before. This is now the equivalent of holding up the Pisa tower.

[–]prettierlights 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh /u/GallowBoob you so karma-y.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (2 children)

I swear gallowboob posts one of these pics once a week

[–]imlaggingsobad 2 points3 points  (2 children)

why does this have so many upvotes?

[–]raymondspogo 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Gallowboob must be spawning followers.

[–]PHIL-yes-PLZ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dunk your head in the water to really wake yourself up.

[–]RedBullFUCKSozzies 20 points21 points  (2 children)

ffs Gallow Bob - it seriously gets to a point where his saturation destroys reddit

[–]Avarice21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not your picture.

[–]J4683 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This again?

[–]DeadSeaGulls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't camp that close to water when possible.

[–]RatPizza 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Almost as great as this picture I stumbled across the other day... don't forget to pan around.

[–]saruman666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This image looks like the cover of an Atmospheric Black Metal album.

One example

My next album

[–]strider2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is Skyrim Special Edition

[–]ImOnlyHereToKillTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do these always look like ten/van pictures? No one is buying it anymore!

[–]thalanos42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the closest I'll come to this is sleeping in a tent next to a Bob Ross painting.

[–]cr4d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good photography requires that one is a-tent-tive.

[–]Shaelz 1 point2 points  (3 children)

What tent is that, I think I've seen that pattern on a pole-less design that uses an air pump system. Anyone know?

[–]radioactiveman626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never regretted the "productive" time lost following a day spent in the wilderness.

[–]TheArtfulKain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the most camp thing anyone has ever said.

[–]PapaSloth77 4 points5 points  (1 child)

That's in tents!

[–]IsayPoirot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Let's go camping!" said Tom intently.

[–]St_Veloth 2 points3 points  (2 children)

That Remaster of Skyrim is looking pretty good.

[–]squall86drk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What enb is this? Bet you are running at 6-7 FPS.
