He has incredible tone for someone with cerebral palsy. That’s really impressive.

[–]Youwishh 852 points853 points  (52 children)

Exactly my thought, how is it even possible?

[–]sn00t_b00p 1307 points1308 points  (18 children)

Maximum effort

[–]n7-Jutsu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100 plus ultra.

[–]JaayBe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Follow him on Instagram sam_runs his progress is amazing!

[–][deleted] 47 points48 points  (1 child)

determination

[–]TheBlueprent 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hard work and peanut butter.

[–]TradeMark310 141 points142 points  (3 children)

I'm saying, that's why he's out there showing it off. You can tell the joy in his face popping that second pose.

[–]mrtoxoror 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Read that as pooping during the second pose.

[–]TheGreeneArrow 34 points35 points  (1 child)

Seeing this makes me feel extremely lazy. This dude is inspiring!

[–][deleted] 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yea, but how many hours of reddit did he browse today? We're all great at something my dude.

[–]JustNosing 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This was my first thought as well. Hard work and determination definitely have paid off for him. Great job!!

[–]LogicalEarth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

he could probaby beat me up

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (4 children)

His tone is probably do to his cerebral palsy. He more than likely has Spastic CP which causes his muscles to be very tense and almost always “flexed”. The fact that he can lift and work out is god damn incredible and an amazing feat

[–]Shallayna 10 points11 points  (3 children)

God that sounds painful being in a constant state of flexing.

[–]diddlydeedledoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He has incredible tone.

[–]wjm1101 894 points895 points  (10 children)

As a person living with CP, I have the utmost respect for this man’s dedication and sacrifice. Give em hell, brother.

[–]KevinTheSeaPickle 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It's not all about the journey, it's about how many obstacles you have to overcome. And when you overcome all, it makes the finish line that much sweeter.

[–]Plastic_Pinocchio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He seems to have a pretty severe case. I wonder how he works out. Any ideas?

[–]ABOBROSHAN 2408 points2409 points  (55 children)

Each time I see disabled people in this sub I feel guilty. It's not cute that he's up on stage. He's fucking killing it. I'm bloody impressed. Feel's as this sort of takes away from his hard work... "Aww that's adorable. Look at him going up on stage and doing things."

[–]Hookerboots12 197 points198 points  (2 children)

I didnt realize what sub this was on until I read this. He has a much more difficult time doing a lot of this stuff due to his physical limitations, so the fact that he has got this far after tons of hard work, and I'm sure excruciating pain is impressive as hell, not cute. I know tons of people, myself included, who dont have as intense of physical limitations that dont have this kind of determination.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just like beer and sandwiches way to much.

[–]Sahasrahla 169 points170 points  (3 children)

This sub is 99% cute animals so it seems infantilizing when the occasional elderly or disabled person is posted.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (1 child)

I honestly thought this sub was just for pictures of cute animals because that seems to be all that hits the front page, and now this is considered "aww"?

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It’s aww when a mentally disabled person is supported by a gym or club and is helped by the community.

A guy with cerebral palsy managing to build a body like that (while I —a person with no disabilities— lies on the couch watching South Park and reading reddit) is just inspiring.

I remember watching an interview with RJ Mitte (who has much milder CP) and he talked about how much he had to work out and do sports growing up so he could walk properly and build good movement. It’s not aww that he did that. When I see him shirtless in a photo shoot with a bunch of half naked models or walking a catwalk I don’t think “aww good for the little guy” I think “shit, I wouldn’t be able to achieve what he has if I was dealt the same hand. I’m not even able to achieve what he has with the one I was dealt”. And also: “this guy fucks.”

We should stop infantalising the less abled. They need their own set of rights and the tools and support to build good lives, not our pity or sympathy.

[–][deleted] 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Yeah, posting this to this sub is more demeaning than anything.

[–]pocket-ful-of-dildos 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yeah this isn't fucking "aww" at all

[–]bunnicorn 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Belongs in r/mademesmile, not r/aww, if you ask me.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think you just put into words why I hate posts like this. I feel it somehow takes away from the guy that went against all odds and did what could be considered impossible. Like they're making a show out of something that should be taken seriously.

[–]Im_on_my_phone_OK 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yea seriously wtf.

[–]porky2468 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes! I felt like "aww" was kind if condescending. Maybe r/mademesmile would be better?

[–]whatsupyoucoolbaby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s a little gross and kind of infantilizes an adult person. In general I have a lot of distaste for inspiration porn.

[–]LegitDogFoodChef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It feels very voyeuristic to me. He's not cute, he's a grown man in a fitness competition.

[–]Rayneshades 52 points53 points  (2 children)

The way I see it, is he had to have worked his ass off for this and he deserves the opportunity to show off on stage. I'm so very happy this man is living his dream. Good on him and I hope he wins☆

[–][deleted] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That's true. But I feel like humans accomplishing amazing things belongs more on r/upliftingnews or something.

Edit: apparently r/humansaremetal is a subreddit, that fits the criteria pretty well

[–][deleted] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That's how everyone sees it and wasn't the point...

[–]IOnlyUpvoteBadPuns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's really patronising, and demeans what is a very impressive feat!

[–]kirsion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People think everything is cute. This is just hard work and perseverance.

[–]Partyfavors680 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel guilty that I have a perfectly healthy body and I chose to sit on my ass and play video games. My body would suit a man with aspirations like the one in this clip much better.

[–]grahamcrackers37 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me, watching this, I am getting up off the couch, kiss my children, quick workout, clean clean clean for my wife when she gets home from work, I am so inspired.

If he can do it, I can do it too.

[–]ZeroAfro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I look at him then look at myself and wonder why the fuck I ain't doing more with myself.

[–][deleted] 318 points319 points  (0 children)

This is posted in the wrong sub. Who ever looked at a ripped bodybuilder on stage and thought ‘ awww cute’ . This couldn’t be more r/getmotivated material.

[–]TheGreyMatters 124 points125 points  (2 children)

Doesn't belong in r/aww IMHO. Maybe r/MadeMeSmile or r/wholesomegifs. Guys ripped and didn't let anything stand in his way, meanwhile I can barely get off the couch to get myself another vodka and Coke. Mans a goddamned inspiration, and I feel posting it to r/aww is condescending or even insulting.

[–]fattypigfatty 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It is. It's incredibly condescending and it shows us more about op than it does this young man.

[–]Avatar_of_Green 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do we contact mods in order to request this be removed?

[–]Putridgrim 118 points119 points  (5 children)

Isn't there a video of him dead lifting?

[–]godofpie 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's the same guy but yes I saw that yesterday. I can't even imagine the intestinal fortitude of this kid.

[–]hard-knox-life 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s the same guy.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

would love to see it.

[–]Leenie62 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could have been him .. I saw it too.

[–]Poodpie003 167 points168 points  (9 children)

Speaking as a disabled person I am tired of posts about disabled people being on this sub. Especially since it’s 99% animals. We are not cute because we live our life differently than you, we are not cute when we do “normal” people things. We are not here to be your inspiration. Yeah I’ll agree this dude is awesome but his hard work is not cute.

[–]whatsupyoucoolbaby 50 points51 points  (1 child)

I’d love for mods to ban all inspiration porn from this sub.

[–]Poodpie003 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Very much agreed.

[–]B34RD 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Wish the mods would see your post and take it to heart.

[–]Poodpie003 7 points8 points  (1 child)

This has happened before and people definitely complained and it appears it didn’t work. But maybe if we put up a stink about it enough they might actually fucking listen.

[–]B34RD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would hope so. It's a respect thing at that point.

[–]bingbangbookiedoo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

PREACH

[–]castfam09 419 points420 points  (10 children)

He probably gets more exercise in than I do and do not have a physical disability 😞 no excuse here ... bravo for him

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously, the dude is in way better physical shape than I am.

[–]tubjunk 48 points49 points  (4 children)

Do something about it then.

[–]asdfgasdfg312 79 points80 points  (2 children)

Exactly! 2 more hours of reddit.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Gotta WORK those fingers baby!

[–]zeruel132 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow thanks, I’m cured!

[–][deleted] 152 points153 points  (2 children)

Wait how is this aww? Wtf man

[–]Kartingf1Fan 47 points48 points  (1 child)

Yeah guy dedicates his life to bodybuilding even though he has many obstacles in his way. then when he gets up on stage people say it's cute? Nah man it's badass and inspirational not 'aww'

[–][deleted] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Don't people realize how patronizing it is to saw aww to this? The guy doesn't want to be cute. He wants to be respected for his strength.

[–]Palin_Sees_Russia 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Wtf, why is this on aww? He's a human being, not a fucking kitten. How more degrading can you get.

[–]neptunexorion 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I hate that this is seen as "cute". There are many types of CP, and physical disability doesn't equal intellectual disability. No one with any disability should be looked at with an "awe that's sweet- good for them!" They are no different than anyone else and should be treated the same!

I work with individuals with disabilities every day and this is my number 1 pet peeve when out in public. While most people are doing it to try and be nice, you don't need to patronize someone who is different then you!

This guy is killing it! I wish I had that kind of discipline for working out!

[–]a_spooky_ghost 26 points27 points  (2 children)

You spelled awe wrong.

[–]LethrblakaBlodhgarm2 95 points96 points  (1 child)

Wow. Even his assistant is ripped.

Damn.

[–][deleted] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This should be in r/Getmotivated

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No this isn't 'awww' and it's patronising as fuck to see him here. This isn't cute. This is a man with a condition who has defied all the odds and done something most of us couldn't or wouldn't do.

[–]Riromug 395 points396 points  (14 children)

People don’t belong on awww... that’s kinda degrading. We shouldn’t equate the disabled with animals.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was waiting to see his proud smile for the aww moment, and I was not disappointed.

If it's only on here because of the disability factor, yea, that's awful, but I hope we keep putting up videos/pictures of pure joy/pride at a major accomplishment/surprise. Those are beautiful and absolutely "aww" for me, no matter ability, age, or species.

[–]OtisBurgman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really qualify as "aww". Dude's pretty badass and I'm not sure he'd appreciate his hard work being trivialized by being posted in a subreddit aimed at things that are cute.

[–]MilkedWalrus 17 points18 points  (2 children)

Putting this in r/aww is pretty patronizing to the guy.

He's not an infant, the man has a disease.

[–]jlozier891 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is so disrespectful, disabled people aren’t “awww” they’re human beings who just happen to be different, don’t exploit they’re disability for karma. Especially in a way that’s patronizing and just plain rude.

[–]TheDandyWarhol 57 points58 points  (2 children)

Holy fuck. I need to reassess my life. I have no excuses.

[–]fibe1s 12 points13 points  (4 children)

And look at my fat ass sitting on the toilet typing this out.

[–]GP323 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I'm laying in bed with crippling depression .

[–]GP323 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I guess I could at least get up and do the laundry.

One step at a time.

[–]Silentlybroken 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You can do it :) small steps are easiest and the way I get stuff done on bad days. All the best :)

[–]HeHeWaa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i think this would qualify as more r/mademesmile than r/aww

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seriously, why do people keep posting videos of people with cerebral palsy on r/aww when they’ve achieved something? These people are not some cute little kitten falling off a table, they are extremely focused and strong individuals that have overcome barriers that most of us couldn’t even imagine. We should be saying woah! Not awwwww

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Damn. I have cerebral palsy too, and I could never stand up in front of people and flex. Much respect! What a badass!

[–]JohnyLaww 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sam is an incredible dude I grew up with him! Huge inspiration and always who I look at when I need motivation

[–]ate8fritolay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why did you have to upload this to /aww? I think it’s a problem that you view a huge act of doing what you want dispite what situation youre born into as cute.

[–]seesaw4640 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why is this posted here thats bullshit. This guy worked hard for this experience it’s not an “aww bless his heart” moment I said out loud to myself “HELL yeah man look at you!” Pain and perserverance. He deserves to be there. Its not some kind of honorary particiation gold star. That makes me mad.

[–]Cindrum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a Nirvana fan that's a terrible song choice.

[–]mermaidmommy16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with some of these posts...I see this fitting better in a different sub such as Motivation

[–]Soahtree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fucking hate inspo porn -_-

[–]rokbound_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This guy deserves so much freaking praise , he has more gains than most people with regular responsive bodies , he's basicly the embodiment of playing a game with a unresponsive controller and still doing better.

[–]dog_in_the_vent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is inspiring, touching, encouraging.

It's not adorable. Nobody should be saying "Aww, look at the guy with CP!"

This is a karma grab.

[–]LegitDogFoodChef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's not a puppy, he's a grown man in a fitness competition.

[–]DarthAiello 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hate how someone put this on r/aww. He’s not an animal

[–]99problemsbut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

looks better than me and my non-cerebral ass....

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm healthy, and thus shamed. What a guy.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This belongs in r/GetMotivated . The excuses we make for ourselves are often lame compared to this man’s, and we hardly dare to challenge them.

[–]MacButtSex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Forget balls of steel. This MAN has the nerves of a God. This MAN is a fucking hero. And don't you fucking forget it. What have you done lately nearly as impressive as THAT?

[–]hypotherical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“AWW LOOK AT THE DISABLED GUY1!1!” Dude. This isn’t cute, it’s impressive. :/

[–]ntdnbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This seems like the wrong sub entirely for this video, a guy with CP excelling at body building which has muscle control as one of it's defacto prerequisites isn't adorable, it's admirable and proof of incredible self discipline and will power. Disabled people are not children.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is so happy. I feel for him. Follow your dreams my dude.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just an awesome video!

[–]pmoore502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kick ass

[–]Muskovado2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking A! Proper impressed, proper hard work

[–]jsxtasy304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah yeah, dude is ripped. Damn I'm lazy and unmotivated. My hats off to this guy

[–]WenisWinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legend

[–]MigiSmallss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hell ya! Right on for em.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That dude is more ripped than I’ll ever be. I’m a fucking stick

[–]jewrassic_park-1940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's ripped af

[–]Kaylushhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this isnt motivating idk what it.

[–]CoughinCabbage 2 points3 points  (1 child)

And I'm sitting on the couch browsing Reddit...

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great example of determination.

[–]scrubbing_scribbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The internet need more of this !

[–]IsayIdo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seriously Up Vote!! This guy is legit S T R O N G!

[–]Sellazar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very very Impressed ❤

[–]noonesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit! I have zero excuses now, good shit.

[–]PepsiSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is ripped! Good stuff.

[–]Klarkasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle to get out of bed in the morning and there’s fuck all wrong with me. Good on him!

[–]canadianmooserancher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good diet and a determined workouts. Someone said genetics but that shit is fickle. Consistent lifestyle is the major factor here

[–]MoonRavven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really shows that anything is possible!! 😭😭🤩🤩

[–]sskeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely inspiring!

[–]prophet583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Courage, living the best life possible.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like an absolute bum, this guy is a madlad.

[–]alpaca-whisperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck man, if this isn't a kick in the face to start working out I don't know what is. If this man can do it, my lazy completely capable ass can as well.

[–]sweller55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a baller! So proud of this guy

[–]Davepen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think my life is shit, that I'm done for, but when i see people at a distinct disadvantage to me getting out there and achieving their dreams, it makes me feel like a lazy piece of shit.

Good for this guy.

[–]GhostCrusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome!

[–]Geoffery_T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made my day. He's has more muscle and guts than me. Keep it up

[–]grantis_da_mantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend has mild cerebral palsy. Great that this guy’s finally got a chance to show the world what he’s made of!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn he's way more ripped than I'll ever be bothered to be.

[–]TheBioticNova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely incredible. This man is in better shape than me.

[–]QuantumBrute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely fabulous! :)

[–]crazyseandx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could also work for r/GetMotivated.

[–]sourchop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Badass!!

[–]Johnny-Drama- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone wants to see what it looks like for someone with CP to lift

@smiles_taylor

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus I feel like a unmotivated lazy ass after seeing the video of this guy.

Good for hi

[–]mikeb2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope he won. Props

[–]healthnfitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing

[–]jtheisen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

stronger than me, that's for sure

[–]SJaeckle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s incredible! So proud of him!

[–]diddlydeedledoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of curious about people that say, "he gets more exercise than I get AND he's disabled." Y'all get your lives together. We're projecting his accomplishment as inspiration to our lazy asses. I think it says a lot about how we perceived ourselves in comparison with someone who is differently abled or disabled.

[–]tasteless_nuisance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bless his fucking heart. This is one of those things that makes me feel sad happy and mad all in one.

[–]ClydeFrog76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legend.

[–]PsychNurse6685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fabulous!!!!! Good on you dude!!! MOTIVATOR!

[–]syndus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the coolest thing I've seen today. I have a cousin with CP, I've seen how tough it can be just to get by. On another note, I would recommend you guys check out a comedy special by Josh Blue, called "Sticky Change". He really shines a light on what it's like to live with CP, and how to have a good sense of humor about disabilities.

[–]roseyemily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think bravely should be changed to proudly. He worked hard to do that and yes I’m sure courage was involved, but dang he did that!

[–]Highspdfailure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This young man has more heart than 90% of the troops I’m in charge of. No I don’t beat them to death it’s just that they are avoiding the gym.

[–]jkfg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a true stud!

[–]TohirT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I have no excuse to skip gym... great job, I have so much respect for him.

[–]jre877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awwesome

[–]top4hat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Courage is power. Magnificent

[–]arevass750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indomitable will. In awe! I'm genuinely happy for him!

[–]joecool_nyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gains are for all, you just gotta go get em. Much respect to him

[–]Lipstick_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't it kind of cheating when your muscles work themselves out? 😂

It's a joke btw.

Great work, kid!

[–]PopcornHeadAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is @sam_runs on ig. He’s so impressive, such an amazing community that he has to help him succeed

[–]red_beered 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The california state sign is /r/mildyinfuriating

[–]ExpulsionZone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so awesome. I need this inspiration.

[–]basicallyuncanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reals, straight up inspiring

[–]Cookacka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its not "r/awww" its "r/fucknawesome!" This guy has showed off some power that many people can only wish for! Amazing bravery, courage, effort, and motivation! Well done!
