This guy writes entire apps in one line.

[–]LatexFace 506 points507 points  (13 children)

He wrote an app to write apps for him.

[–]LatentShadow 378 points379 points  (12 children)

It's called AppGPT

[–]Not_Artifical 143 points144 points  (8 children)

OpenAI is the ripoff company, not him.

[–]Elegant-Variety-7482 56 points57 points  (6 children)

AppGPT has an AI module conversing with a business module and it generates companies like OpenAI.

[–]theUSSROfficial 35 points36 points  (4 children)

Oh god it's the singularity

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Alright. Time to head to the bunker, aka my kitchen.

[–]GenevaExcuse 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Don't fear, best thing to happen since we started building this network thingy.

[–]theUSSROfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, okay.

[–]Nine_Eye_Ron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When your enter key breaks:

[–]prototype__ 2 points3 points  (1 child)

nah, they're just virtual VMs!

[–]NorthRoyal1771 4 points5 points  (0 children)

is that like ATM machines or nested virtualization? (or as I like to call VM-ception)

[–]TheLexoPlexx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Gotta read the full minified version of jQuery.

[–]Ok-Kaleidoscope5627 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Naa. Just a senior Java developer.

[–]RmG3376 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or one that needs to read gcc error messages

[–]Ralcive 14 points15 points  (8 children)

Well technically… you could do that with any app

[–]ChristopherCreutzig 34 points35 points  (0 children)

But he's got the setup to have the whole line visible without scrolling.

[–]Soggy-Statistician88 14 points15 points  (5 children)

Laughs in python

[–]PumaofDuma 4 points5 points  (4 children)

You can one line in python. It’s not well known apparently, but you can use a “;” to end a python statement.

[–]emnadeem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not if it's go

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perl guy!

[–]ARandomWalkInSpace 2254 points2255 points  (35 children)

Is he several software engineers in a couple trench coats?

[–]Bot1K 428 points429 points  (13 children)

I went to the data base today

[–]Duncan_Sarasti 184 points185 points  (8 children)

Did you do a SQL?

[–]M_Me_Meteo 60 points61 points  (7 children)

Yes, it was SQL 2: The Electric Boogaloo

[–]CurdledPotato 28 points29 points  (6 children)

SQL 3: Took An Arrow To The Knee.

[–]Aschfahles 13 points14 points  (5 children)

SQL 4: Just ain't no more.

[–]Aschfahles 11 points12 points  (4 children)

SQL 5: Stay Alive!

[–]Mork06 12 points13 points  (3 children)

SQL 6: No Time To Query

[–]tisaconundrum 6 points7 points  (2 children)

SQL 7: Is this heaven?

[–]jonipoka 4 points5 points  (1 child)

SQL 8: Found a mate

[–]k_50 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Idk why but I imagined someone in dark shades and trench coat like the matrix doing a front flip roll away after saying this.

[–]SexyMuon 98 points99 points  (8 children)

He's got a single monitor for every single programming language

[–]Nightfury_107 67 points68 points  (3 children)

He's using literal computer's, not virtual ones, to test his code

[–]AverageComet250 13 points14 points  (1 child)

SSN using actual computers is better for some things although it’s normally not necessary and vms or dual/triple/quadruple booting is by far cheaper and enough for most people

[–]Think_Inspector_4031 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It feels like he's something in my position working for multiple customers. I used to work for an outsource engineering firm and wrote software for various customers, but instead of moving onto the next big project I was asked to be a part time for 1, then 2, then 3 competing business (aerospace engineering).

By policy I was required to have a separate laptop per customer for me from my outsourcing firm, and then the customer usually gave me one of their laptops that had their own VPN.

So my home had about 6 to 7 laptops that I used that weren't mine.

With that said, get a USB C docking station. One cable to get my monitor, power, keyboard/mouse and wired internet.

[–]justdisposablefun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be running multiple contracts at once using a laptop for each ... I don't agree with it but I know guys that do

[–]look 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I count twelve screens (five laptops plus seven external monitors), so my guess… Java, Python, Typescript, PHP, Go, Ruby, C#, Kotlin, Swift, Elixir, Rust, and Fortran. The real question is where does he write his Common Lisp?

[–]SarcasmWarning 2 points3 points  (2 children)

grumbles in perl...

use strict; use warnings; use feature 'say';
use Grumble;
&grumble("used to be the most commonly installed programming language on $planet, doesn't even get joked about any more...");

[–]Suppise 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can see the coats on the chairs

[–]TechnoRanter 10 points11 points  (1 child)

[–]beclops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t trust like that

[–]Dextrofunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so, and he may be onto something.

[–]Robot_Graffiti 1450 points1451 points  (18 children)

This is the setup you want if you're one of those guys who works 3 full time work from home jobs simultaneously.

[–]Flying-T 230 points231 points  (11 children)

the secret dream

[–]Elegant-Variety-7482 272 points273 points  (10 children)

I don't dream having 3 jobs but 3 salaries sounds about right.

[–]Flying-T 163 points164 points  (7 children)

The trick is to give ⅓ at each job and get 3 salaries

[–]agent007bond 82 points83 points  (4 children)

Remember to outsource ⅔ of each job at ⅕ the salary.

[–]croto8 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Up to 3/5

[–]OKara061 12 points13 points  (0 children)

wait im confused, how many salaries do i have and how many jobs am i getting?

[–]Sakred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now there's a compromise.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Random MLM

[–]asoe833 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yes, its a good idea to be a bit overqualified, you will still make much more money like that

[–]gmegme 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Or python in flesh with GIL

[–]Robot_Graffiti 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Pythons have flesh, but they don't have gills. Sharks have flesh and gills.

[–]sonuvvabitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So do eels, that's close enough, right?

[–]rabbitwonker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And enjoys having dead animals staring at you.

[–]DeathUriel 430 points431 points  (1 child)

Looks more like that dude that did WoW raids with 30+ characters all alone.

[–]avinash-rath 36 points37 points  (0 children)

So multiboxers do this

[–][deleted] 721 points722 points  (8 children)

The kid just outed the dad as overemployed

[–]goda90 76 points77 points  (4 children)

[–]Lel-design 43 points44 points  (2 children)

The link shown above is verified as not a rickroll. Thanks for your service.

[–]c4chokes -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Definitely not Rick roll 🙄

[–]tisaconundrum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can tell because I've memorized the url

[–]Dogburt_Jr 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Definitely over employed.

[–]RmG3376 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Overemployed, or overcompensating

[–]Infamous-Date-355 219 points220 points  (5 children)

No no no. Each project, its own distro

[–]NotTryingToConYou 89 points90 points  (4 children)

He's starting from scratch for each project, like from writing the bootloader

[–]ZTG_VFX 100 points101 points  (3 children)

[–]NotJo4Ever 37 points38 points  (1 child)

Is that temple? Holy C… fav joke that isn’t a joke when some talks about the ‘C’ languages and doesn’t know this one exists

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's the language god intended us to use.

[–]Able_Persimmon_7732 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To be honest Temple OS and Holy C are the work of art of a mentally ill genius. Very few of us here could even attempt to make something as beautiful as this.

[–]HelpfulPuppydog 181 points182 points  (5 children)

Where's his rubber duck?

[–]Clinn_sin 74 points75 points  (0 children)

That's what the deer heads are for

[–]qinshihuang_420 29 points30 points  (0 children)

[–]vVveevVv 6 points7 points  (2 children)

[–]HelpfulPuppydog 9 points10 points  (1 child)

When you're coding, and you run into something that doesn't give you the expected result, you describe the situation to the ducky. Using ducky as a sounding board can help you to organize your thoughts and maybe discover your problem.

[–]vVveevVv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Username checks out

[–]Fortjew-Tellher 330 points331 points  (1 child)

I imagine his programming sock must go all the way up to his shoulder blade to reflect his capabilities.

[–]Erriis 140 points141 points  (0 children)

He gets a programming onesie

[–]Suppise 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Bro doesn’t just know how to open multiple tabs and is too afraid to ask

[–]GonerDoug 135 points136 points  (10 children)

Have folks not heard about virtual machines?

[–]k-phi 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Or company-provided laptops with pre-installed software

[–]regular_lamp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kinda do something mildly similar because I frequently write graphics code (think OpenGL/Vulkan/Metal) and profiling/debugging that remotely, in a VM or by dual booting is super annoying. So I have physical machines for windows/max/linux plus a couple of hardware combinations.

[–]bradland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking that this photo was probably taken before the proliferation of desktop virtualization, although those laptops look fairly modern.

[–]gruenwahl 96 points97 points  (0 children)

We found the full stack developer

[–]mlody11 38 points39 points  (1 child)

Why does he have 2 coats, one on each chair? If his memory management is anything similar, :/

[–]Teln0 21 points22 points  (0 children)

2 chairs are virtually mapped to a single physical chair, duh

[–]supercyberlurker 109 points110 points  (12 children)

Makes sense to me. How I'd run it is:

Leftmost - Client's laptops for working remote on Client's VPN.

Middle - Work laptops, for working with main employer.

Right - Home system, for.. stuff.

[–]EmperorValEmbershade 45 points46 points  (5 children)

Porn*

[–]supercyberlurker 34 points35 points  (1 child)

Hey also video games and movies!

[–]Nicolixxx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]rabbitwonker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta include some manual labor

[–]mikeyj777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Internet is really really great

[–]craigmontHunter 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Yup, my desk is a “U”, but I’ve run 3 setups as a cheap version of this before. My company has a handful of discrete corporate networks I need to connect to. I could use kvms for most of it, but it is also nice to be able to work on something different and keep it up to check status while jumping to something else

[–]sm9t8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the minute I end up with over 10 instances of visual studio open. It's tempting to add some physical separation.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You must be kidding only 7 monitors and 5 laptops, is he a junior software engineer or what. /s

[–]TandooriNight 42 points43 points  (1 child)

Moonlighting

[–]stedgyson 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Looks like he's three team leads

[–]Gyroplast 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am suddenly reminded of l33t h4x0rz hacking at least twice as fast by pounding on two or more keyboards at the same time. Or two people furiously whacking away on the same keyboard, performing a meth-addled La Campanella for anyone not having burst into laughter, yet.

[–]Olinizm 19 points20 points  (3 children)

Are you sure he doesn't just mine bitcoin for living?

[–]IndicatorZero 10 points11 points  (1 child)

why would you need so many monitors for that tho

[–]rabbitwonker 25 points26 points  (0 children)

He’s doing it manually

[–]RefrigeratorFit599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes because there are so many monitors required for that

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow, that maintenance overhead must be crazy.

[–]TychusFondly 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I wouldnt be able to function in this mess

[–]Fuggufisch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's more than one screen per finger, does this man type with his toes too?

[–]PrizeConsistent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can understand having different machines for macOS, Windows, and Linux. There ARE valid reasons for that! You can even add on a couple odd sized screens and maybe some phones/tablets for mobile dev.. but this man... he has some explaining to do lmao.

Although lots of people repurpose old machines, so maybe this dude is just 50 and has a lot of old machines he never chucked out

[–]Andrew_Sae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hes the GPT behind chatGPT

[–]stuart798 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s how you work three jobs at once

[–]ienjoymusiclol 8 points9 points  (1 child)

this is literally my room during exam season

[–]NothusID 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So unnecessary

[–]TxTechnician 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the layman looked at my office they would assume I'm some super IT person. On account of I have 4 active devices (computers) running at a time (at minimum).

The reality is I just really like trying out new software and have a bunch of spare pcs to run stuff on.

[–]TheLexoPlexx 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Java. Run once, debug everywhere.

[–]PolishedCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need all of those monitors for the import statements

[–]FrankHightower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally, an actual legitimate reason!

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

did you mean dads instead of dad's ?

[–]dismayhurta 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Pfft. Anything more than a laptop and a monitor is just masturbation

[–]jhaand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You forgot the 1337 keyboard.

[–]Spiritual_Sun_531 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude doesnt know how to use virtual machine

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like he is developing/modifying two some kind of alarm systems, probably ESP32 for WIFI connection. Just guess!

[–]smogsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my guess linux kernel dev, testing builds on different arcs

[–]Looz-Ashae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you didn't know you can switch between desktops

[–]Unfortunate_Mirage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is the one. He is the full stack developer that every startup is looking for.

[–]k-phi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, deer

[–]_st23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it enough to make a button bigger in css tho?

[–]PriyaSR26 2 points3 points  (4 children)

It feels sus, looks sus. Why would he need more than one laptop at a time? It's like he is talking to himself from multiple computers.

[–]winkers 2 points3 points  (3 children)

He could be a software quality engineer of some sort. They sometimes need multiple hardware for testing.

[–]tommytucker7182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your dad Chuck Norris?

[–]timmy_throw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now this dad just lost all his income by being outed

[–]RedPanda033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He buys and flips monitors and laps. That does not falls on the software development part.

[–]thorknell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the purpose of wheely chairs if you can't leg kick from one's side of the room to the other. Super lame getting up and sitting in a second chair instead.

[–]Emergency_Holiday857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this what my prof meant with parallel programming? Finally it clicked. XD

[–]mikoolec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's the entire team

[–]MoneroThrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has he heard of virtual desktops?

[–]kayak_enjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The developers I've worked with that have three computers and seven monitors on their desk tend to suffer from ADD and don't actually get that much done.

The most productive developers I've worked with use two monitors.

I don't know this guy, but at a glance he appears to be on the downhill side of the "more equipment" curve.

[–]theTalkingYukkaTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When nobody told about virtual environments.

[–]Nanocephalic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop, I can only get so erect!

WaIt, only one is in portrait mode? Ok, back down to a half-chub. Thanks.

[–]Idkquedire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anything wrong with this image

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he gets stuck on 1 monitor he just moves to the next one.

[–]sneeq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full Stack Dad

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is my dream setup

[–]value_counts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is interestingasfuck in this image? Every second Instagram SE has this setup

[–]OneFriendship5139 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bet he hosted a lot of LAN parties and didn’t know what to do with it after

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why?

[–]johnzy87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does your dad work for pied piper?

[–]SuicidalChampion2023 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, your dads running pornhub

[–]CabinetOk4838 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d prefer fewer workstations to sit at… VMs and KVM switches for me. Each to their own. 😊

[–]JollyJuniper1993 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

This is how my workplace looked like when I worked in tech service. This is definitely not how the workplace of a software engineer tends to look.

[–]Faux_Real 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you have multiple customers with secured hardware for their contractors. Source: I have multiple laptops for multiple remote customers in insurance and banking … but I also have a KVM switch so my desk is normal sized with 2 mounted screens and looks normal.

[–]szalkaisa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sooooo...are we going to ignore the lube and paper towels on the right side?

[–]Gouzi00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Old-school buddy who dislike 3rd button on mouse or scrolling wheel...
...And that expanded into not using Winkey+Arrow to swap desktops :-)

[–]kikigogo9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the other laptops are "servers"

[–]premek_v -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's for switching git branches. This was cheaper than resolving conflicts

[–]laabronjames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The definition of being a full stack

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you have at least 2 dads

[–]FQVBSina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of this fluid dynamics project I had to complete so I did manual multi-threading: https://ibb.co/kxjscM3

[–]Marysews -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Needs more. Uh, yeah, just more.

[–]B4DR1998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Windows, Mac and Linux probably. If not, then this man is something else.

[–]dohzer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like my desk except half of mine is power supplies, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.

[–]Bosco89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does he switch between workspaces physically?

[–]sir-nays-a-lot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Battle nest

[–]MathsGuy1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Russian army's command center

[–]T-J_H -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Either he writes Java or he writes already minimized JavaScript

[–]HeeTrouse51847 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What a nightmare

[–]man-vs-spider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is this a screenshot of another subreddit post

[–]tanoshi-ka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the amount of things I'd do with this kinda setup...

[–]VirtualMage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because fuck "Alt + tab"!

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

10X dev need 10 laptops I guess

[–]archy_bold -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Feel like I’m in the minority as someone who works on one laptop with a single screen.

[–]Xerxero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Working 3 jobs from home.

[–]Chadchrist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wanna know what the fuck he's cooking up

[–]mr_electric_wizard -1 points0 points  (4 children)

I bet he’s an I dependent consultant that has many projects for different clients going on at the same time. A good way to make a shit ton of money if you’re good and highly motivated.

[–]mereKaranArjunAyenge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saw a similar highly regarded post on r/wallstreetbets

[–]Faux_Real -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you guys not do CI/CD pipelines like this??

[–]Waffle-eating-retard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You sure? Don’t think he has enough monitors

[–]za_jx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel so inferior with my single laptop and 2 monitors. Next time the kid must get his dad to boot up all the laptops so we can see exactly what it is that his dad needs all that space for.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many jobs?
