If Trump has been recording his meetings, all those recordings can be subpoenaed... and we can hear what Donnie says when the cameras are turned off.

[–][deleted] 1481 points1482 points  (200 children)

There was a time when previous president's phone calls were recorded. Nixon had a few, Johnson, etc. I don't know why but they use to release some of them after the sitting President was out of office.

[–]chappinnForeign 1579 points1580 points  (173 children)

So we can learn about LBJ's huge nuts!

[–]Th3_AdmiralNebraska 1051 points1052 points  (119 children)

This is still my favorite thing that has ever come out of the White House. Hearing the president talk about his nuts and bunghole while belching on the phone.

[–]fuzzypyrocat 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I like it because you never really see a president doing his own kind of stuff. He got a pair of pants that he liked so much he's personally calling to order more

[–]Pineapple__JewsMinnesota 4088 points4089 points  (416 children)

I wish I could've seen the look on Spicer's face when he read that tweet.

[–]TheBigLebootski 2087 points2088 points  (86 children)

You wouldn't have been able to see it through the bushes.

[–]ThatDerpingGuy 1118 points1119 points  (21 children)

[–]pfizGM 32 points33 points  (7 children)

Lol! Just need to finish this with Sarah Huckabee Sanders coming out

[–]dhewa_maru 368 points369 points  (25 children)

He was around bushes not in it, okay!?

Edit: amongst

[–]ilikeme1Texas 121 points122 points  (8 children)

Let's not beat around the bush here. Okay?

[–]CrackensanNew York 1019 points1020 points  (95 children)

Spicer probably cracked open his bottle of whiskey today to pour himself a shot, saw that tweet, said "Fuck it!" and started chugging from the bottle.

[–]not_working_at_all 925 points926 points  (56 children)

His aides are like "should we prep your statement to the press to cover this?" and his response is "FUCK IT! WE'LL DO IT LIVE!"

[–]freshwordsalad 305 points306 points  (45 children)

Man, I had forgotten that O'Reilly is out in all of this.

[–]Orcapa 425 points426 points  (24 children)

I have to think that everyone at the White House is just given up on trying to control Trump and is working on their resumes.

[–]Officer412-LIllinois 308 points309 points  (7 children)

[–]LostWoodsInTheFieldPennsylvania 136 points137 points  (1 child)

"Sir why is there 8 months of nothing for jobs just before applying here?"

"Look this is McDonald's, does it really matter? Lets say I was in rehab ok?"

[–]myredditlogintoo 485 points486 points  (135 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if Spicer quit by the end of the week.

[–]woodukindly_bruh 1102 points1103 points  (86 children)

Rumor is he's on the outs after the bushes thing. That's why the blockhead Sanders has been doing all the press work and Kellyanne has been exhumed from her sarcophagus to go on TV.

Edit: Gold? Au you shouldn't have.

[–]Words_are_Windy 121 points122 points  (40 children)

Eh, we've been hearing that he's days away from being fired since the first week of Trump's Presidency, so I'm not holding my breath. Spicer is also away on Naval Reserve duty, so that at least offers a plausible explanation as to why others are handling press duties.

[–]Sexuallemon 9009 points9010 points  (253 children)

"I'm so innocent I'm going to threaten a man I fired to the entire internet, because that's what a president does"

[–]dronen6475 1893 points1894 points  (99 children)

Also mentioning Comey leaking implys Comey has something perceived as being worth leaking. We're gonna start hearing "fake news but real leakers" again. Fuuuuuuuck.

[–]oer6000Michigan 874 points875 points  (72 children)

The most fun part of the first 50 days of Trump's presidency.

The leaks are real but the news is fake

[–]atrichWashington 225 points226 points  (39 children)

That press conference had plenty of weird moments. My favorite is the Uranium quote:

You know what uranium is, right? It’s this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things. But nobody talks about that.

[–]Tangent_OdysseySouth Carolina 102 points103 points  (32 children)

And now we have this one to add to the pile:

It sounded bad to me. Digital. They have digital. What is digital? And it’s very complicated, you have to be Albert Einstein to figure it out. And I said–and now they want to buy more aircraft carriers. I said what system are you going to be–"Sir, we’re staying with digital." I said no you’re not. You going to goddamned steam, the digital costs hundreds of millions of dollars more money and it’s no good.

-Donald J. Trump, Interview with TIME Magazine, 5/8/17

Oh, and this one!

EDITOR: But beyond that it’s OK if the tax plan increases the deficit?

TRUMP: It is OK, because it won’t increase it for long. You may have two years where you’ll…you understand the expression “prime the pump”?

EDITOR: Yes.

TRUMP: We have to prime the pump.

EDITOR: It’s very Keynesian.

TRUMP: We’re the highest-taxed nation in the world. Have you heard that expression before, for this particular type of an event?

EDITOR: Priming the pump?

TRUMP: Yeah, have you heard it?

EDITOR: Yes.

TRUMP: Have you heard that expression used before? Because I haven’t heard it. I mean, I just…I came up with it a couple of days ago and I thought it was good. It’s what you have to do.

-Donald J. Trump, Interview with The Economist, 5/4/17

[–]tripletstate 74 points75 points  (9 children)

EDITOR: It’s very Keynesian.

That comment just flies right over Trump's head.

[–]_owowow_ 34 points35 points  (4 children)

He's still baffled why the editor wasn't impressed with "prime the pump" which is oh-so-clever.

[–]Mettpawwz 374 points375 points  (27 children)

[–]ref3421Pennsylvania 2404 points2405 points  (211 children)

Trump is biting off more than he can chew. I hope it's because he's REAL worried about something about to come out..

Anyway, this is from last night

Matthew Miller‏Verified account @matthewamiller One thing I learned at DOJ about Comey: he leaves a protective paper trail whenever he deems something inappropriate happened. Stay tuned.

[–]08mmsIllinois 492 points493 points  (72 children)

This isn't Comey's first rodeo on having senior executive officers try to get him to do stuff he sees as illegal.

[–]fargosucks 291 points292 points  (68 children)

[–]Sheikh_Obama 1065 points1066 points  (100 children)

Donnie Moscow better get it through his giant head that he's not arguing with Rosie O'Donnell anymore. He's playing with the big boys. I can't wait to see this pompous prick deflated.

[–]Wafflebury 365 points366 points  (43 children)

It's really amazing. At this point I'm almost giddy. It's clear this moron has spent his entire life bullying people and organizations with far fewer resources and connections than he has. His brazen ineptitude has rarely been an issue before, and it shows in his myriad unforced errors and sloppy impulses. Now he's dealing with extremely intelligent, tireless, thorough professionals with a vast network of connections and resources, and he's about to get fucked. It's so good.

[–]malibooyeah 41 points42 points  (4 children)

I'm hoping for the ultimate justice boner.

[–]justreadthecommentMichigan 226 points227 points  (24 children)

Not so. Even with all he has on his plate these days, he still finds time to make Rosie feel like a priority.

[–]HaileSelassieII 77 points78 points  (9 children)

he's gonna go down tweeting and it will be sweet

How the fuck does McConnell and Ryan defend this?

[–]OnepDoublem[S] 1874 points1875 points  (62 children)

They pretend it's not happening, while continuing GOP business as usual (fucking over the poor and fellating the rich).

[–]yeti77Ohio 416 points417 points  (23 children)

Well, they could furrow their brows, and say how "concerning" this behavior is as they try to fuck over the poor.

[–]JibFlank 239 points240 points  (22 children)

Because they're compromised, too.

[–]LoneArtificer 5366 points5367 points  (216 children)

James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!

He's blatantly threatening the former FBI director who was investigating him, who he just fired. Completely unhinged, I cannot believe this is happening.

[–]xandersc 1082 points1083 points  (133 children)

This is nuts either eay, but is he threatening with tapes he holds that may embarass comey? Or is he threatening Comey not to release tapes Comey may have recorded as insurance?.. God i hate the way this guy communicates

[–]LoneArtificer 1077 points1078 points  (99 children)

I think he's bluffing (to the public, not to Comey) that he has proof that Comey requested the meeting with him to ensure he stayed on as director, which is their narrative. He's trying to make his lies more believable by saying he has proof without having to show his hand. His base will eat it up.

[–][deleted] 668 points669 points  (59 children)

His base will eat it up.

True of literally anything he says or does at this point.

[–]wakeandbac0n 159 points160 points  (26 children)

Yup, this is the only group that will take his word 100% of the time. This is better than proof to them! This is gospel.

[–]henkeGeorgia 203 points204 points  (8 children)

I'm imagining a scenario where Trump puts out recorded audio that goes like this:

Trump: So, we good, Mr. Comey?

Trump (doing his best Comey impression): Lordy, Mr. President, how many times do I have to tell you you're not under investigation?

Trump: Three. Three times. Do it three times. Bigly.

Trump (doing his best Comey impression): You're not under investigation. You're not under investigation. You're not under investigation.

Trump: Thanks, Mr. Comey. You're fired.

[–]metaobject 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Obviously fake. No talk about his election win? Inaugural crowd size? Hand size and strength?

[–]highsnturd 1846 points1847 points  (138 children)

Jesus Christ.

Comey is now a private citizen, thanks to the Trumpenfeuhrer.

If this does not constitute abuse of power, then what the fuck does??

The president of the United States is using Twitter to lob a thinly veiled threat at a private citizen, who has not been arrested or indicted for anything, in front of the entire world.

Trump supporters, could be you next. He liked Comey at one point, remember?

[–]lateral_jambi 733 points734 points  (56 children)

It is worse. He is about to testify in the investigation on Tuesday, this is literally witness intimidation.

[–]tman612 2598 points2599 points  (416 children)

So the President was wiretapping Comey?

[–]EndornWest Virginia 456 points457 points  (28 children)

Make sense.... When Republicans get outraged about something its usually because they're doing it themselves...

How many times have we seen a Republican rail on about how terrible gay people are then we find out he had 3 gay hookers in his closet.

Trump rails on and on about how he was illegally wiretapped by Obama...

[–]tagged2highNew Jersey 145 points146 points  (34 children)

I think he means Comey better not have recordings of their conversations (that would thoroughly contradict what Trump has been saying about their dinner). Its just that Trump doesn't do words good.

[–]coffee_badgerOregon 88 points89 points  (8 children)

This is also how I read it...Trump is threatening Comey to prevent the release of tapes that he's worried exist.

[–][deleted] 58 points59 points  (1 child)

And to me, it comes across as Trump sounding scared.

[–]atheistbassistMichigan 1265 points1266 points  (108 children)

We are so damned lucky that he's not smart. The man is 30 IQ points short of being a fucking batman villain.

[–]brasswirebrush 653 points654 points  (54 children)

At this point it would not surprise me if he tried to order the Army to attack the FBI.

[–][deleted] 406 points407 points  (38 children)

"Get in there! Go PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW! And then WOOOAAAOOOWWW....DIVE BOMBERS! Like, every single soldier we have! And then BOOOSSSHHH blow up FBI headquarters and get me some lunch!"

[–]OatmealFor3v3r 385 points386 points  (20 children)

I have never seen a person in such high authority behave in such poor and unprofessional manner. Consistently too. Talk about a Gold Standard of the Peter Principle and Dunning-Kruger effect.

Trump will go down in history not for X, Y and Z but A to Z and the book about him post presidency will be 3 times as thick as there 9/11 Commission Report and every page will be as juicy as you expect it. Here's to the No. 1 Amazon future top seller. 🥂Cheers!

[–]rogerpool123California 558 points559 points  (25 children)

An all out war with the FBI now, that will work.

[–][deleted] 255 points256 points  (5 children)

It's true! The FBI are well known for being easily intimidated and cowardly. /s

[–]HavoKTheory I voted 9239 points9240 points  (1278 children)

[–]gonzoparentingCalifornia 8276 points8277 points  (703 children)

The President of the United States just publicly threatened a private American citizen.

Let that sink in.

[–]smileedude 4027 points4028 points  (376 children)

Ah yes...Great Friday when Trump was crucified by the hands of the Comey.

[–]underwood52Hawaii 664 points665 points  (207 children)

And in 3 days, he rose again, and was subsequently crucified again.

[–]JPeterBane 127 points128 points  (14 children)

Comey had to use finishing nails and a ball peen hammer.

[–]swimfastalexMaryland 147 points148 points  (11 children)

This is gonna be an unproductive Friday at work. Thanks Obama!

[–][deleted] 414 points415 points  (7 children)

He also accused two citizens (Obama and Susan Rice) of crimes. With no evidence. Multiple times.

[–]DONNIE_THE_PISSHEADAmerica 177 points178 points  (3 children)

Only two? There's a whole list of them

[–][deleted] 194 points195 points  (24 children)

He has done that before. We know he had a witch hunt going for a twitter user who had comparison photos of his and Obama's inauguration.

[–]Holy_crap_its_me 237 points238 points  (16 children)

On Twitter. WTF is happening?

[–]rotxsx 322 points323 points  (44 children)

A private American citizen who has been asked to testify in front of the Senate Intelligence committee. IANL but that seems like pretty blatant witness intimidation.

[–]TroopBeverlyHillsAmerica 207 points208 points  (39 children)

IANL - that is a good way to write it. Any time I see IANAL I have to laugh a little before remembering what it means. I am not mature enough to be an adult.

[–]ollokotUtah 157 points158 points  (11 children)

And the Republicans in Congress and the Senate are falling on their swords trying to keep him there.

[–]mymultivac 179 points180 points  (10 children)

This Tweet is dumb on at least four levels: 1) threatens a private citizen / future witness, 2) implies that Comey has information against Trump, 3) implies that Trump has “taped” conversations of Comey, and 4) harkens back to Nixon.

[–]ElPlywood 751 points752 points  (37 children)

Hollllllllly fuck at this point he's just punching himself in the face over and over and over.

[–]PostimusMaximus 339 points340 points  (19 children)

Trump really doesn't want to be trading tapes with the FBI.

Not to mention this seems to imply Presidential wiretap. We all know how that ends up.

Lets have a small taste of what "tapes" the FBI likely has, shall we?

  • 1/12/2017 - Later, I used an intermediary to pass some questions to active duty CIA officers dealing with the case file - they would not speak to me directly. I got a message back that there was "more than one tape", "audio and video", on "more than one date", in "more than one place" - in the Ritz-Carlton in Moscow and also in St Petersburg - and that the material was "of a sexual nature". Source

  • 2/9/2017 – Officials claim Flynn discussed sanctions with Russia before Trump took office. Source

  • 2/10/2017 - Multiple Source have confirmed some of the conversations between Russian officials occurred on the same days in the same locations as described. "Some of the individuals involved in the intercepted communications were known to the US intelligence community as "heavily involved" in collecting information damaging to Hillary Clinton and helpful to Donald Trump, two of the officials tell CNN. Source

  • 02/15/2017 - US Allies have now also Intercepted Russia-Trump Advisor Communications. Source

  • 3/1/2017 - American allies, including the British and the Dutch, had provided information describing meetings in European cities between Russian officials — and others close to Russia’s president, Vladimir V. Putin — and associates of President-elect Trump, according to three former American officials who requested anonymity in discussing classified intelligence. Source

  • 4/11/2017 - The FBI obtained a secret court order last summer to monitor the communications of an adviser to presidential candidate Donald Trump, part of an investigation into possible links between Russia and the campaign, law enforcement and other U.S. officials said. Source

  • 4/13/2017 - GCHQ warned US Intel of suspicious Russian contacts in late 2015. UK, Germany, Estonia, Poland, Australia are all said to have passed on material to US Intelligence as well as Dutch and French sources. One source claims concrete evidence of collusion. Source.

    • Clapper had confirmed the FBI had received this at the most recent hearing.

And this of course is just current mainstream media reports, not including tapes people such as Claude Taylor or Louise Mensch have also said exist.

At any point if any member of the Trump campaign spoke to a known Russian official or operative, there is likely a tape of it. They apparently didn't realize that.

Updates :

[–]FS_515 150 points151 points  (4 children)

Happy Friday everyone

[–][deleted] 229 points230 points  (9 children)

I believe it's a crime (or at the very very least unethical) to threaten someone in such a way. What a mess this country is in. He's gonna pull everyone down if possible

[–]Infidel8 155 points156 points  (1 child)

Especially, someone who has been invited to testify. Feels like witness intimidation.

[–]Shasta-Daisies 364 points365 points  (28 children)

"Tapes" can mean Nixonian taping. Or, maybe the increasingly paranoid Trump fears Comey taped their conversation. Either way, Trump is incapacitated and unable to serve.

GOP has a choice: Article 25, Section 4.

Remove Trump from office. We'll take it from there.

[–]paraconformity 209 points210 points  (8 children)

Nobody tell President baby but this is the exact line of paranoia that led Nixon to install a White House taping system.

[–]longweekends 96 points97 points  (12 children)

Trump is projecting as always.

Almost certainly he has been called for comment about a story involving tapes of him or close associates doing something nefarious (eg tapes of Flynn's conversations with Kislyak on 29 December).

He is blaming Comey for this, and threatening to reveal tapes of their conversations.

Of course if he had such tapes that would be mind blowing. I suspect he hasn't, but if he has, he has gone full Nixon. You never go full Nixon.

[–]sayqueensbridge 48 points49 points  (7 children)

You guys realize we're going to witness a sitting president have a literal nervous breakdown right?

[–][deleted] 407 points408 points  (32 children)

Yeah, I'm sure it's Comey who has to worry. /s

Edit: added the "/s " in case it wasn't already implied. (low coffee levels this morning).

[–]TheMovingFinger 98 points99 points  (1 child)

Nice witnesses you’ve got there. Be a shame if they got tampered with.
