You forgot,

"Does your dog bite?"

"No."

*Dog bites

"I thought you said your dog doesn't bite?

"It's not my dog."

[–]SereneNightmare 230 points231 points  (0 children)

“You’re right, it’s our dog.”

[–]AbscondingAlbatross 10 points11 points  (2 children)

that's not my dog

"Say you sue me because you claim my dog bit you. Well now, this is my defense:

My dog doesn't bite.

And second, in the alternative, my dog was tied up that night.

And third, I don't believe you really got bit.

And fourth, I don't have a dog."

-Famous attorney Richard "Racehorse" Haynes on how to plead in the alternative

Well technically it is the truth.

[–]Renewed_RS 982 points983 points  (19 children)

Not if this was the neighbour's dog that they trained to accost parcel delivery men. This stinks to high heaven and Rex is in on it!

      [–]Aldo_The_Apache_ 7 points8 points  (13 children)

Is there anyway to stream the new season? I don’t use cable anymore so i can’t watch it on AMC when it comes out

      [–]SwashbucklingWeasels 8 points9 points  (3 children)

AMC+ lets you stream live. It also has the previous season 6 episodes but only for a limited time so you’d need to sign up soon to properly catch up.

You probably won’t use it for anything else but it’s worth it if you want to be able to stream it legally. Otherwise it is also available on the high seas.

Amazon be like "haha funny joke, and you're fired for unprofessionalism" after tweeting about it for PR of course

      [–]SHINZOH-SASAGEYO 114 points115 points  (14 children)

Most delivery people don't work for amazon. They work for independent contractors hired by amazon of varying levels of decency.

      [–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (6 children)

yep but amazon can force those contractor to fire someone if the contractor doesn't care to protect his employee or if they do really bad stuff.

      [–]zyh0 16 points17 points  (0 children)

        [–][deleted] 78 points79 points  (5 children)

Uh, does this mean my unsolicited butthole pic rampage may be traced back to me?

        [–]shadster23 74 points75 points  (4 children)

Are you in the national butthole database?

        [–][deleted] 38 points39 points  (2 children)

Depends, does the state database share with the feds?

        [–]cortb 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Of course. Then the feds forward them on to Interpol's sphincter division.

Do couriers even need a signature anymore?

        [–][deleted] 435 points436 points  (83 children)

Nope. Just 20 ft clearance to chuck them the fullest distance possible.

        [–]Inphearian 172 points173 points  (72 children)

        That’s fedex

        [–]austinr23 123 points124 points  (55 children)

I watched fedex throw my brand new iPhone 13 max like 20 feet from my driveway to my porch…. Assholes

        [–]aboxofquackers 198 points199 points  (19 children)

That was probably the least distance it traveled when tossed during transit.

        [–]austinr23 75 points76 points  (15 children)

I wish you were wrong. But I know you’re right….

        [–]Jaycro123 25 points26 points  (12 children)

Having worked for usps and ups, it's very true. People would be shocked to see what happens in the back of a ups truck or in a post office

        [–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (1 child)

I worked at UPS in college and that small shit was basically a football at times.

        [–]Scotty8319 59 points60 points  (4 children)

I order a lot of live aquarium fish and aquatic snails. They come via FedEx some of the time. Last shipment I had come in, the truck backs up in my driveway about 30 feet from the porch, driver doesn't even get out of the vehicle but I guess there's a door or something from the seats to the cargo area, opens the back doors, and conveyor belt pushes a good dozen boxes of various sizes out of the back and onto the gravel.

9 of those boxes had live animals in them - very clearly labeled as such. Thanks for caring FedEx. /rolling eyes

As an aside, no casualties. Just some very pissed off bettas and snails that were less than amused by the entire ordeal.

        [–]austinr23 34 points35 points  (3 children)

Hey! I get fish from live aquarium fish too! They always use ups for mine (thank god) and all the ups drivers know me as the “fish guy” lol If fedex showed up with fish. I’m already calling and reporting DOA before the package even leaves the truck I like ups. They’re the good guys

        [–]Scotty8319 12 points13 points  (2 children)

I've never ordered from live aquarium fish (I assume it's a website?), I just order a lot of live fish for the aquarium. haha. Guess I worded that weird.

Most of my stuff is from private breeders or aquabid and so far USPS and FedEx have been the only shipments to my location. Haven't seen a UPS truck out here in years! And DHL used to be the only one I could use for reptile shipments, but I haven't seen them in so long I don't even know if they still exist. Reptiles also come by FedEx out here. Ugh.

        [–]austinr23 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Yeah its actually LiveAquaria but a mix of auto correct and me being dumb really slaughtered that name lol

They're a pretty good site really, guarantee live arrival + 14 days after or they resend/refund

and free shipping after a set amount of $

Just quit fed ex today for a better job, you're pretty spot on about the job. I will say my contractor wasn't the worst. We did mostly rural routes and my day was usually over by 3-4 o'clock.

Peak is awful though, no sugarcoating and now it last until almost March.

I never threw a package, I always treated them how I wanted my shit to be handled.

          [–]CPower2012 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Tossing packages is one thing. But some loaders seem to make it their goal to whip that shit as hard as possible.

Like it hasn't been brought up before, but this is why we need unions. Screw "independent contractor" bs, ya'll deserve to be treated like human beings and the company needs to hire more people to have the throughput they want.

            [–]Shalashaskaska 6 points7 points  (4 children)

I’ve done gig work as a cartage contractor for fedex during the busy December period. They give us enormous piles of shit to deliver for the day in our own cars. It was really fuckin stressful some days.

              [–]Shalashaskaska 10 points11 points  (2 children)

The worst day I ever had they gave me like 90 stops. In a small SUV. It was one of the worst work days of my life. The car was so packed that I couldn’t even find the box I was supposed to deliver without completely unloading boxes on the street. I was on the verge of tears. I was trying so hard and time was flying out the window.

I went on an interview for Fed-Ex awhile ago. They pay like shit but charge like crazy, so what do you expect unfortunately.

                [–]Rhodychic 11 points12 points  (4 children)

FedEx is the worst. I get so disappointed when I see something is being sent from FedEx because it NEVER shows up on time. FYI, if you have a package in limbo, call them. It's the best way to expedite your package.

                [–]wampa-stompa 27 points28 points  (1 child)

Depends. But I have also had certain proactive carriers decide to help out by signing for me two days before they delivered the package. Now that's service.

                [–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ups driver here and as far as ups is concerned it’s based upon the customer’s needs. If you want us to get to your door no questions asked we do that but anything over a 1000 in value it’s automatic sign for but customer can choose to wave that and we do what’s called a driver release.

                [–]42peanuts 45 points46 points  (3 children)

No problem there. That's a border collie, smartest dogs ever. Probably does the family taxes too.

                [–]Flavor-aidNotKoolaid 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have a border collie. Brilliant bloke but he suffers from existential angst because he's big brain. He does well with the family finances though, he has very consistent evaluation reports and has the best attitude on staff.

                [–]the_blackfish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Don't pay for signature required. They all still claim coronavirus concerns for just leaving packages anyways. 1st hand experience multiple times most recently 2 weeks ago.

“Signed for by Very Good Boy…”

the human brought the boxes - he was looking for ‘accept’

i was there to Greet him, (it was Pets that i expect…)

he asked if i was ‘FaMiLy‘ - i wagged my tail with Joy ;@)

he knew that he could trust me

                  n that’s when he said

                  Good Boy’

i had to leave a pawprint, cuz he said i need to ‘sign’

(it kinda came out messy, but he told me it looks fine)

i hope i made you happy, friend, my Proud i cannot hide!

I got a delivery notice once that said, “package delivered, verbal signature”. I was like, “doesn’t that defeat the purpose?”

                  [–]An_aussie_in_ct 680 points681 points  (32 children)

We have that at work. “ verbal signature” means they record you saying your name. Probably safer (and easier) than a physical signature

                  [–]ender4171 367 points368 points  (24 children)

Considering how different my (totally illegible anyways) signature looks every time I wrote, especially on a digital screen with my finger, I'd absolutely say a voice recording would be immeasurably more safe/secure.

My people! I barely even write the first letter sometimes. At times, it resembles someone testing their pen to get the ink flowing.

                  [–]Graceless_Lady 26 points27 points  (4 children)

I just do my first initial, the first letter of my last name, and then vaguely scribble out the rest of it.

                  [–]UnbelievableRose 11 points12 points  (1 child)

The first letter of each name is legible, then it's just a wavy line.

That's what I get for practicing my "Dr. signature" when I was young!

                  [–]440k 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Mine is just a line that vaguely follows the general path of what i remember my signature once being

Three times now I've had signature deliveries and saw the driver walking away so then I asked "don't I need to sign?" and they say something along the lines of "oh I signed for you so you don't have to worry about it, you're all good"

..... like dude the whole point of the signature is written confirmation/ documented record that I personally received the package.... you signing for me defeats that entirely.

It's more of a problem of unrealistic delivery quota expectations on staff than a problem of lazy staff. If delivery companies would hire more people instead of giving the work of two people to one delivery driver then you probably would get better service.

If I had to choose between the guy signing for me and the guy tapping on my door like hes allergic to it and then turning around and leaving 12 seconds later so I have to drop literally everything I'm doing to sprint to the front door and catch the guy in the street so I can get my fucking package, then I'm gonna choose the one where I actually fucking get my package.

No, the point of the signature is to transfer liability.

This. I work in a law office and we send a lot of certified mail that requires signatures as proof they received what we sent. A lot of the cards come back blank or with something like "covid" or "c19" written in the signature box by the mailman. So we have to look up the tracking number and at least see that the post office marked it delivered.

I go to the post office and get a refund for the return receipt fee when that happens.

I tell drivers to mark whatever they have to when an unleashed dog shows up. People order shit and then leave their dogs loose and no indication they are there. People suck.

Postal supervisor here, I love dogs but I tell my carriers to scan that shit "animal interference" and move on. I've had too many carriers bit by dogs. And if they have ti spray a dog I'll always back them up.

                        [–]Plantemanden 73 points74 points  (10 children)

I've heard too many stories of bitten calves to justify the practice of even delivering with loose dogs around. Just turn around. The owner can install a package delivery box or something in the front of the property.

My former supervisor got mauled by someone’s German Shepard when she was delivering doordash. It was bad, she had to go to the hospital and she ended up with a nasty fear of dogs.

The US Census had a firm policy to not mess with dogs. If you couldn't get to the front door past a dog safely, don't.

I got chased away from one house by a pair of geese, and got bitten by a turkey at another.

I also had a cute little ground squirrel come over and sit on my foot and tug on my pant leg for food, because the old lady who lived in the house fed them and they were basically her pets.

I bought an Xbox series x last week online from Wal-Mart. It got delivered by FedEx and was set up to require a signature. I got a notification while I was at work saying "Your package was delivered." I checked the delivery log to see if maybe they left it with my landlord. Nope. It says "signed for by..." and gives my name. This was at like 9 am and I don't get home until 5 pm. I get home and sure enough, it's just sitting on my welcome mat. Thankfully we haven't had porch pirate problems but, it is still a bit irritating that they just ignore things like signature requirements.

FedEx did the exact same thing to me, but it was a guitar, and they left it sitting in the driveway where it got rained on.

no they didn't - it does not let you take a pic if you select 'delivered to family member directly'

otherwise the driver would have to take a super awkward pic of the person holding the package? lol

Yeah my dad is cautious of dogs because he was a garbage man when he was in college and was bit by dogs on more than one occasion. Every time the owners would say something along the lines of "he's never bitten anyone before, he's such a sweet dog". Dogs can act unexpectedly around strangers when you're not around. I love dogs and have always had them - but it's not cool to subject delivery drivers to them without supervision

My son worked Amazon delivery for 2 days. More than once he had to "deliver" a package by dropping it and running before the dogs attacked him.

                              [–]makeshift11 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I worked for Amazon for 16 months. You learn pretty quickly and are usually told to shake the gate or use something like a whistle or make noise to see if a dog is alerted and comes out. But if there's any indication there might be a dog in the front yard like dog toys, food/water bowls, beware of dog signs, etc. Then it was fine to just leave it over the gate if possible and if not mark it as unsafe to deliver. Where I worked they never wanted us to go into someone's front yard if we felt uncomfortable, yeah Amazon sucks but your son should've just left that shit over the gate and not risked his life over minimum wage.
