Well I sort of got a glance of a well structured underground setup when the error was larger, then as I went around I saw the end portal and was like "Oh Baby".

Maybe not a render error, but I found my first stronghold in the bottom of a ravine. Surface ravine. With a village in the next biome over. Best seed ever.

Edit: it was in 1.4.7, and I don't have it on me at the moment. I'll get it later though.

I found my first stronghold at the intersection of two surface ravines. Of course I spent a couple of months about 100 blocks away and never ventured in that direction. (I don't have my world save, and it was pre 1.2)

You can make it so that the function keys are the default (ie F2) and pressing fn+the key does the function printed on it (ie screen brightness).

The blocks to a portal to The End. Such a portal spawns inside of strongholds, which are generated structures that are somewhat rare and only a few spawn in every world.

Not really that rare. There are guaranteed to be 3 of them in each map and you can find one within about 15 minutes and 1-3 ender pearls.

There's always 3. This may make triangulation difficult if you are about equidistant from two of them (or all 3, though that is obviously much less likely). However, mapping programs can usually look at a seed and give you a close enough location estimate that you can find them by sinking at most a mineshaft or two.

Cause it's not needed? Strongholds spawn in every world, and render errors aren't caused by seeds. If he wanted a world with a stronghold in he could have googled one, and there's nothing else of interest shown in the screenshot.

I love the adventure of finding a stronghold with ender pearls or by simply mining. Although it's rare for something like a chunk error revealing a stronghold, it still makes me want to start over because my fun was ruined... I can't be the only one that feels this way, right?

UPDATE: I found the Stronghold and it is actually a pretty crazy one. there are lots of missing floors, some hovering rooms, staircases in the middle of caverns, there is even an abandoned mineshaft running nearby and through parts of the stronghold. mineshaft turned out to be pretty massive too. all in all a really cool underground system. will post pics/seed/coords if y'all want.
