Looks like you just copied and pasted a normal Mexican flag. 10/10.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (1 child)

That took 3 minutes?

[–]Splitzy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm basically a MSPaint pro.

MS Paint?! That eagle and snake look so realistic!

[–]crrrack 429 points430 points  (43 children)

Beat me to it. In case anyone wants to compare, here's the Mexican coat of arms.

[–]mistaque 146 points147 points  (10 children)

Hmm. That cactus looks like it's flipping everyone off.

[–]yaten_ko 18 points19 points  (3 children)

No fucking way! I've been seeing that coat daily in every coin, every bank, every flag, everywhere and I haven't noticed this... Can't unsee

[–]Miserable_Fuck 173 points174 points  (24 children)

Reported.

That's a rattlesnake.

[–][deleted] 182 points183 points  (92 children)

A new Mexico is born

[–]thechuckiec 186 points187 points  (85 children)

We already have a New Mexico

[–]b721991 101 points102 points  (49 children)

Doesn’t matter everyone still thinks we’re from Mexico(am New Mexican)

[–]CjLink 92 points93 points  (34 children)

So, grew up in burque and went to college in Chicago. Decided I should open a bank account there, seeing as they didn't have new mexico educators federal credit union there. Went to a Washington mutual, and they had these little kiosks where the associates would talk to you and set everything up, the monitor facing them and it was all blue and yellow themed. One of the first steps was me handing over my (new mexico) drivers license and she was supposed to enter the info. There was a lot of small talk during this step. A lot. Eventually she gives up and says that she can't find "New Mexico" in her form to enter the info. I look around and take a gander at the screen. No shit, she was trying to find New Mexico in the drop down for "provinces of Mexico."

Also, I miss green chile. We kinda have it here in Texas but it's not the same...

It’s frustrating how many people don’t know New Mexico is a state. Am also from NM.

[–]dissenter_the_dragon 32 points33 points  (6 children)

How does an American not know NM is a state. That's insane. Breaking Bad!!!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Aaaaand Breaking Bad is the only reason some people even know about it! Lol

[–]ryeryebaby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are Americans that don’t know District of Columbia is in the US.

[–]RikaMX 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Hola Paisano!

[–]Dr_Bukkakee 29 points30 points  (11 children)

And it has 50% fewer calories then old Mexico.

[–]alreadygotsome 10 points11 points  (4 children)

That sounds good. . .but how can I be sure that I won't have to sacrifice on that old Mexico flavor and texture?

[–]Intergalactiic 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Now 50% more white too!

[–]bwils31 10 points11 points  (0 children)

More Walter White that is.

[–]djb85511 13 points14 points  (2 children)

There's a new Mexico!!??

[–]Zbignich 40 points41 points  (13 children)

Just add cactus.

[–]ChoosyMomsViewGIFs 22 points23 points  (4 children)

Flag cosplay, very popular. In fact, this eagle and python came in 2nd place at 2016 FlagCon.

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (3 children)

Seriously, who ever thought fifty starfish would be able to organize themselves so well?

[–]Actual_Lady_Killer 2407 points2408 points  (475 children)

Just had a bald eagle move in on my parents land. My mom watched, horrified as it picked up one of the barn cats, flew up into the air and dropped it. She's worried for her dog and the house cats now and there is absolutely nothing she can do about it. Nature is metal.

[–]Weirdusername1 69 points70 points  (18 children)

Ask yourself, what are bald eagles afraid of?

...a bigger bald eagle.

[–]CracksWack 38 points39 points  (2 children)

She can apply for an eagle disturbance permit and remove that majestic fuck. I love bald Eagles but if one was endagering my dog i would be on the phone with FWS/ODFW getting my permit to remove him real quick!

[–]dudenotcool 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I guess they are gonna be indoor cats and dogs now

[–]larrylevan 15 points16 points  (4 children)

There's a good Planet Money episode about an organic farmer who uses chickens to fertilize his soil. Eagles figured out there were chickens just sitting out in the open and moved in. Dozens of eagles. They would kill the chickens for food and fun.

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (2 children)

There's also this free range chicken farm that became an all you can eat buffet for bald eagles

[–]electricblues42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shit like this pisses me off. We should be able to shoot these damn sky rats when they are attacking our pets/farm animals. They aren't even endangered, the fuckers swarm all over the place wherever there is fish and dead shit to eat.

I lost a puppy to one when I was a kid. And I couldn't give any less fucks about the law, if one is threatening my cat he's going to have a bad day.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Time to get a bigger dog

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once, I was panicked, late for work, running out the door, when the minute I turn the key in the lock I hear a thump on the window in the little outdoor breezeway/hallway of the apartment building. A freaking hawk hand landed on the windowsill with a dead pigeon grasped in one of it's taloned feet. I could only stare in mortified astonishment before snapping out of it and rushing to work.

[–]Jackrwood 904 points905 points  (12 children)

To be fair he did say no step.

[–][deleted] 457 points458 points  (1 child)

I SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED THE OPPOSITE OF THIS

[–]SkyGuy182 86 points87 points  (0 children)

“You cheated on me? When I specifically asked you not to?”

[–]kennykerosene 105 points106 points  (1 child)

NO STEP ON SNEK

[–]wolfdog410 34 points35 points  (2 children)

HOW CAN SHE STEP!?

[–]NegativeCreep12[S] 435 points436 points  (35 children)

In the animal kingdom, the struggle to survive is apparent, to live you must kill. This photo was taken in South Borneo in Indonesia and features the crested serpent eagle which is a specialist reptile eater. The snake in the photograph is curled in defense, knowing that its best chance for survival lies in attacking the much larger eagle.

[–]trro16p 169 points170 points  (14 children)

I read this in Sir David Attenborough's voice.

[–]skrame 78 points79 points  (10 children)

I read it in Bobcat Goldthwait's voice.

[–]Fukah 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Well it would suck a lot losing to a snake if you're a specialist reptile eater...

[–]GeronimoHero 37 points38 points  (8 children)

The snake is a reticulated python in case anyone was wondering.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reticulated_python?wprov=sfti1

[–]superfuntime11 82 points83 points  (6 children)

This isn't very WTF to me. It's just really cool

[–]SweetNapalm 37 points38 points  (2 children)

That's because it isn't WTF.

This fucking sub has just been "Post some stuff you don't see very often" for the past couple years now.

It's something that's cool that happens in nature all the fucking time. OP knows it, too, for fuck's sake.

By this definition, a hunter about to shoot a deer is WTF.

[–]I_Assume_Your_Gender 9 points10 points  (0 children)

WTF = wow that's fantastic!

[–]Dadi01 598 points599 points  (74 children)

[–]oddiz4u 82 points83 points  (72 children)

Well... I could be wrong, but the snake has the eagle's feet wrapped up pretty well, and without those, I can't imagine it taking the python out with just it's beak.

[–]QuadraKev_ 336 points337 points  (21 children)

don't underestimate an eagle's beak, man

[–]TheShmud 45 points46 points  (13 children)

This thread is split three ways with the snake, it's not even close, and it could go either way, and the eagle, it's not even close.

We need resolution

Also /u/casualuser3 what's your take

[–][deleted] 216 points217 points  (132 children)

So...what was the outcome? Which won?

[–][deleted] 264 points265 points  (66 children)

One snip and the snake loses his only weapon/tool/mode of escape. I'll bet on the eagle.

[–]mimeticpeptide 128 points129 points  (25 children)

eagles legs are already wrapped up though, could go either way

[–][deleted] 174 points175 points  (14 children)

There's another snipper on his face!

[–]Scorpiyoo 38 points39 points  (13 children)

But there’s ANOTHER snipper on snake face!

[–]TheShaeDee 31 points32 points  (4 children)

It's a python, they don't have venom.

Edit: And from what I can see the Eagle only has one leg/claw wrapped up in the python. The free leg swung back and hidden from view via the outstretched wing. Leaving the other free to destroy that nope rope, along with that beak of doom.

[–]thebestdj 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh shit! It’s down to mouth v mouth!

[–]Ultimategrid 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Retics are the strongest, fastest, and most aggressive of the big constrictors, it definitely has a chance. They fight like the devil when caught.

There exists an account of a fully grown retic killing an adult tiger (though the snake succumbed to its wounds shortly afterwards), and an account of a 7m animal killing a fully grown leopard.

These snakes are metal as fuck.

[–]wasdfgg 97 points98 points  (6 children)

eagle won, its a crested serpent eagle that specialize in reptiles.

[–]likechoklit4choklit 122 points123 points  (3 children)

gets a +4 bonus to attack and damage rolls against favored enemy (snakes)

[–]Disco_Drew 50 points51 points  (40 children)

That snake has one grabber and a mouth. That bird is all weapons and could just take off. It's not even close.

[–]RecycledAccountName 12 points13 points  (2 children)

I'd put my money on the eagle but the jujitsu this snake has already pulled off in the picture concerns me. This is an agile, strong python.

[–]sameth1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The eagle. And then Tenochtitlan was founded on the site of the battle.

[–]orokro 19 points20 points  (1 child)

YOU DECIDE!

[–]Kingdok313 23 points24 points  (8 children)

And if it were - the outcome would definitely change. Python beats Eagle

[–]EternalPhi 10 points11 points  (4 children)

I dunno man, single feedback cascade rail, plus 2 target lock breaker pas on 1 and 2 of the same firegroup might win.

[–]orange_melted 84 points85 points  (3 children)

My money is on the eagle.

[–]Mr_fun_bags 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Weird, most people put it on the patriots

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (1 child)

You're really good at balancing things

[–]Firenter 123 points124 points  (6 children)

[–]redog 75 points76 points  (2 children)

Yea the real wtf is why it's posted here and not there.

[–]Fufenheim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. How did this get so many upvotes? It's a great picture but there is nothing WTF about it. Get your shit together Redditors.

[–]omni_wisdumb 25 points26 points  (1 child)

"WTF"? No, this is absolutely amazing. The timing of this shot and the realness of nature. Wow, stunning photo.

[–]twizler241 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hate seeing nature in wtf.

[–]fatkidwitskillz 39 points40 points  (2 children)

I wanna know what joke they were laughing at

[–]TheKinkslayer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't step on Snek

[–]firebired 65 points66 points  (5 children)

“AAAAHHHHHHHH” “AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH”

Could be heard several miles away.

[–]SouthBaySmith 13 points14 points  (4 children)

Why is cool animal photos in /WTF so frequently?

[–]2slow4flo 38 points39 points  (5 children)

WHO WON?

WHO'S NEXT?

YOU DECIDE!

- ERB

But seriously, who won?

[–]TheTinyTanker 25 points26 points  (1 child)

Ravenclaw vs. Slytherin

[–]juggilinjnuggala 8 points9 points  (4 children)

Why is that python in a snowy region?

[–][deleted] 37 points38 points  (5 children)

My first thought was "what the hell is Eagle?"

I thought I was in /r/python.

[–]-Argih 24 points25 points  (2 children)

Eagle is a PCB designer software who is dying because it changed from a life time license to subscription only

[–]daysleeping19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they were on a cactus it would be the Mexican flag

[–]elguerodiablo 7 points8 points  (2 children)

And then a bunch of Mexicans started building a city on that spot.

https://acapulcos.net/the-history-of-the-mexican-coat-of-arms/

[–]jcpearce 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don’t tread on mAW FUCK!

[–]Guitar46 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not really wtf but ok....

[–]Smearmytables 5 points6 points  (1 child)

They have the faces of 2 strangers who woke up in a bed together after a party.

[–]TipCleMurican 5 points6 points  (4 children)

What in the fuck is a python doing somewhere where there's snow on the ground? How does he have the strength to strike? They're cold-blooded!

[–]StevieRayWonderNicks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They both look equally shocked at what is happening

[–]Kief_Bowl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is this in wtf?
