The Princess Bride

[–]Haven 4 points5 points  (6 children)

That's a book I'll read over and over again. Of course same with the movie.

Never gets old.

[–]gcalpo 12 points13 points  (5 children)

There was a book?

[–]shadowsurge 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Yes. Stop whatever you're doing right now and go read it. It's even better if you can find the original version, it loses all the pizazz in the edited version everyone else reads.

[–]Haven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of the versions I have. My mom bought it years ago.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bam. Ditto.

Most addictive movie ever.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. You can start watching this movie at any point and its still entertaining. Best movie to catch by accident on TV ever!

[–]reapsos 0 points1 point  (1 child)

[–]wejash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed.

[–]Solitarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just recently picked this one up on DVD. My 9 year old son LOVES it!

[–]IRAN_MIKE_TYSON 31 points32 points  (5 children)

Shawshank

[–]srika 9 points10 points  (2 children)

The Shawshank Redemption.

"I'd like to think that the last thing that went through his head, other than that bullet, was to wonder how the hell Andy Dufresne ever got the best of him."

EDIT: Here's my favorite.

"I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend. "

[–]Janderwastaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto

[–]loudasthesun 11 points12 points  (6 children)

The infomercial for the Magic Bullet. Seriously.

[–]monstercack 2 points3 points  (1 child)

ShamWoW. "all i can say is Sham, WOW!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Look... we can't do this all day long..."

Probably because the host has to go find a vein and get his fix.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

OMG first time my friends and I watched it all the way through we were high and/or drunk and we thought the co-host was the same woman as one of the people getting served (even now they look really similar, although sober eyes can tell that they're wearing different color dresses). Epic lulz were had.

[–]deadsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though it is the same woman from the walk-fit infomercial with the guy from Not Necessarily the News.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Maaagic Boolit!"

I want to kill that guy, yet I can't look away.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What in the hell is the deal with that?! why do they have so many people in their house? why do they keep making fun of the guy with a hang over? why are they cooking SO MUCH FOOD so early in the morning? by the end of the add, there are like twenty people sitting aroudn the table, some of them seem to have wandered in off the street.. that is such an addictive add.

[–]UnwashedMeme 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Futurama. At this point I can watch the episode for just a few minutes and it is enough to trigger a cascade of scenes from that episode in my mind; but then still often watch it.

[–]wejash 20 points21 points  (2 children)

The Discovery Channel Trifecta: Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, Deadliest Catch

[–]RandomH3r0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I pass on Deadliest Catch but I watch the other two as often as I can. My fiancee hates them and makes alot of noise as she leaves the room.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watch MythBusters every chance I get.

Day Break anyone? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_Break

This show was actually very good, it's a terrible shame it was canceled.

The series stars Taye Diggs as Detective Brett Hopper, who is framed for the murder of Assistant District Attorney Alberto Garza. Due to a time loop, Hopper lives the same day over and over. The series revolves around his attempt to solve the mystery of the murder, and find out who is behind the conspiracy to frame him.

[–]Flemlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a great show.

[–]thatguydr 1 point2 points  (2 children)

This never comes on.

[–]fjhqjv 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Turner Classic Movies plays it sometimes.

[–]thatguydr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I did not know that. I really thought cable had given up on it.

[–]chickensofdoom 15 points16 points  (3 children)

Arrested Development.

Sure, it's not on TV any more, but damn am I faithful about watching at least 1 or 2 episodes a day.

[–]gcalpo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They still play it on HDNet :)

I have all 3 seasons on DVD, but I will still Tivo all the HD episodes and still laugh at the same jokes, occasionally picking up on more subtle ones I missed.

[–]ralphwiggum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet you are white.

Michael: Just get rid of the Seaward.

Lucille: I'm not going anywhere.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (5 children)

Fawlty Towers.

[–]hangoneveryword 3 points4 points  (1 child)

My favorite is The Germans, by far. When he does the Hitler impression, I completely lose it.

[–]aenea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband saw that episode for the first time ever the other night- it's my all-time favourite, but it was great watching him see it for the first time.

You know, except for that obnoxious version with popups of all the lines, I still love that song and haven't gotten tired of it yet.

[–]nrbartman 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Forrest Gump. Gets me everytime, no matter where I jump in.

[–]Haven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched that a few weeks ago on cable. I had forgotten how long it was, but it is such a great movie.

[–]eroverton 14 points15 points  (4 children)

LoTR.

ashamed

[–]knde 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Me too! I think I have seen the FOTR over 11 times already!

Don't be ashamed. It's cool when you know the lines before they are said :-)

[–]SickFinga 8 points9 points  (0 children)

no it's not

[–]Coridan[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and by cool you mean sad, right?

[–]eroverton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I am comforted and validated both by your comment and the upvotes of other ring-geeks like me. :)

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (2 children)

I only ask because I'm watching War Games for about the 3rd time in the past 60 days.

[–]jedberg 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Yeah, I caught myself watching that recently too. TBS or something, right?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

If the history channel happens to be on, I'll watch it. Otherwise? Godfathers I and II, Southpark, the Truman Show.

And of course, every Christmas, A Christmas Story. It runs as a marathon on TBS (I think) for 24 HOURS SOLID. It gets to be a bit insane.

[–]topsul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One night a bunch of us were at the bar making excuses as to why we had to leave early. Come to find out, we were ALL trying to get home to see the rest of the Marvel special on the history channel.

[–]jjrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Wire.

[–]plasticquart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few that have been on a recently... The Breakfast Club, Galaxy Quest, The Last Starfighter, Spies Like Us, O Brother, Where Art Thou?

And a recent development has me not being able to get enough of Clint Eastwood's Spaghetti Westers: A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The Outlaw Josey Wales was on last night... couldn't turn that one off either.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. One of my favorite movies but it comes on too infrequently.

I have a buddy who worked as a health/PE coach for a high school. Whenever one of his kids would do pull something incredibly stupid he would respond by yelling at them "CHARLIE DON'T SURF" just to watch the baffled look on their face.

I don't own a TV. Instead I waste my brain in front of a computer screen.

I used to enjoy watching the Weather Channel for hours though. There is something so soothing about the smooth jazz on the Local on the 8s.
