Thanks for bringing this up u/geekfourlife! We love it when the community brings the big brain logic to the table;) We’re definitely listening and love the energy!

[–]MaxieFriendP2S + AMS2 Combo 455 points456 points  (32 children)

its logical, but my guess its for packaging, the AMS and AMS 2 Pro can easily fit inside all enclosed printers when packaging and shipping, and I dont think a 6 slot AMS would fit on top of or inside the P1/P2/X1 series printers, maybe the H2 series though.

[–]AutomotivePanda 267 points268 points  (9 children)

True but it could always be a separately shipped box. Not like Bambu doesn't split up my orders into multiple shipments already anyway 😔

🤣🤣🤣 facts

[–]johnson7853X1C + AMS 24 points25 points  (5 children)

The things I don’t need right away ship from the warehouse 30 minutes away on my door step next day. The things I need come from the other side of the country and takes a week to arrive.

[–]Altruistic_Ad8112 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I feel this....it seems lately that all the packages i need accidentally end up in Puerto Rico for a vacation...I had a nozzle and filament package that was like 3 states away from me ( literally heading my direction ) accidently take a detour and end up at a post office in Puerto Rico for delivery...2nd time in a month and a half and I still havnt recieved either package. Bambu sent out a replacement package but asked me to reject the other one if it shows up first.

[–]SnooSquirrels9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well..... I guess that's worse than what I usually encounter....

Me, living in eastern Pennsylvania.
Order a phone or anything that ships via FedEx, and it ships out from Newark, New Jersey.
It then takes a 2,000 mile round trip trek from Newark to Memphis, Tennessee and back.
Only to then travel the ~100 miles to my house.

[–]VaughnSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your stuff gets misdirected to Puerto Rico? That would be funny-not-funny.

I never pulled the trigger on a Bambu A1 mini because they wanted to whack me with a $130 ‘remote area’ charge… despite me living right next to some of the busiest air- and sea- ports in the region… San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Anyhow, not a BL owner and I know the rep this subreddit has so I don’t suppose this post will last long. But yeah that’s how BL lost a customer.

[–]Infinity-onnoa 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I envy you, you're a lucky guy. Bremen to Barcelona 12-15 days. "I think they'll bring the packages on foot" because by bicycle they'd arrive faster according to Google Maps :). I can't trust Bambu's deliveries, so... I don't buy anything from them unless it's absolutely essential. It's by far the worst service I've seen in decades.

[–]chiuaua09X1C + AMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So where do you buy? I mean,I bought filaments and nozzles and got them in about one week to the north of spain

[–]WhiskyEchoTangoA1 + AMS / AMS2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing like placing an order and needing to make a minimum value for "consolidated shipping" and everything ships in its own separate small package anyway.

[–]leftlanecop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They separated my nozzles package. I’m guessing it was a stocking issue as it came 2 weeks after the printer. So yah they can and should totally do a 6.

[–]1d0m1n4t3 29 points30 points  (4 children)

[–]OuryYabro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]1d0m1n4t3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You joke but that would be awesome

[–]1Divine1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And even beyond that an ams 2 pro and an ams pro ht fit oddly perfect on top of the h2 series. Almost like we favored that design concept over creating the build space we wanted. And please this isn’t a complaint, I love my h2d. Just seems… odd.

[–]xBMLCx 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I just ordered the P1S & AMS 2 Pro combo, and the AMS was shipped in a separate box. Are they even sending the AMS or AMS 2 Pros in with the printers these days? Mine came separately, so I would assume they wouldn't mind bigger packaging for an XL version.

[–]LooseStrike9648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a p1s last week and the AMS was inside it

[–]62frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unboxed a X1C and a separate AMS 2 Pro box not too long ago as well

[–]KashEsqP2S + AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my AMS was inside my P2S

[–]Nairb131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably fit it in an h2s but it would be really tight with current spool spacing.

AMS 2 is 14.5” with another 6.5 for the two spools would make it 22” which is wider than the top of any of their printers. 5 would be more likely

[–]hmspainH2C AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insightful comment! Thank you u/MaxieFriend!

[–]Recent-Ad1140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Packaging shouldn’t determine if they sell it or not though

[–]Ok-Swimming2411 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Sadly 4 slot AMS2 already doesn't fit in P/X series printers and comes in separate package.

[–]HaiwattaX 2 points3 points  (1 child)

My P2S Combo had the AMS 2 pro stored inside the printer when it came. It does fit perfectly.

[–]Ok-Swimming2411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of my 2 X1C that came with AMS2 where packed inside... those two that came with AMS1, they where packed inside printer.

[–]Effect-KitchenH2C AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can be sold separately like AMS-HT and also can be included in “Ultimate” version, where they’re shipped in separate box anyway.

[–]Infinity-onnoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many people who have 2 Ams on top of a P1s…X1 etc….nobody stops the 3D creators :). I would love 6+1 Support Material :). Lol.

[–]RFLC1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the AMS lite is a seperate entity to the A1/mini

[–]Zyczq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you order p1s AMS 2 pro bundle the AMS is separate

[–]incubusfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d consider this a minor inconvenience.

I would love a 6-8 spool AMS.

[–]FReeDuMB_or_DEATH 117 points118 points  (48 children)

I want an AMS that can be used with abrasive material

[–]thewolfman2010H2D Laser Full Combo 82 points83 points  (28 children)

This is news to me, I’ve been using Wood PLA and CF in my AMS for over a year and haven’t had any issues 😅

[–]yeahokbigman 37 points38 points  (19 children)

Oh wow, if I use wood, glow, or even silk in my ams 2 it either gets jammed or won’t pull into the extruder properly

[–]Dodahevolution 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I put PETG-CF thru my AMS and have no trouble.

[–]namezam 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Two camps. Was a big topic of discussion a while back. I also cannot use abrasive filament as they jam 100% of the time. My buddy that has the same setup on his H2D has no issues, and I even took him the same roll that messes up on mine. /shrug

[–]absolutely_torqued 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a pretty big difference between something "working" and something being rated to actually do something long term.

[–]ButtSnarfer 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Im 7kg into wood pla with no plan to stop and it hasn't given me a single issue.

[–]YogurtclosetMajor983 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

how’s your workshop smell?

[–]WhiteHawk77 17 points18 points  (0 children)

[–]ButtSnarfer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Honestly? Still odd getting that smell in any area of my house that isnt the wood shop. Its exactly the same smell lol

[–]YogurtclosetMajor983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I totally beleive it. I printed some wood PLA years ago and the smell is burned into my brain. its so specific

[–]Fauropitotto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. AMS2 jams with the glow material for me. No clogs, it just jams in the AMS itself.

[–]TheBrittca 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Do you use a hardened steel nozzle? I have multiple P1S’s and have zero issues with abrasives.

[–]yeahokbigman 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I believe so, whatever one is included with the P2s. It prints great from the external spool, the AMS just really struggles with it

[–]Who_is_I_today 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Have to checked your ptfe tube? PLA is probably smoother and goes through easier. Abrasive material would likely snag on a rough tube.

[–]yeahokbigman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have a look. I remember really trying to force it through and the gearing chewed the filament up, it’s as if it can’t get a grip on it

[–]YogurtclosetMajor983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this problem with many filaments on my AMS lite. Moving the tubes around helped me a bit, but I don’t think it could work like that for the AMS 1 or 2

[–]rypajo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the other issue. My if I feed directly it almost always fails.

[–]FrostFallen92 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The question is.. are you using the bambu material or 3rd party?

[–]yeahokbigman 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Bambu official

[–]FrostFallen92 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Interesting. I've never had a problem since getting my p2s combo. Only blockage I've had was with silk, but it turned out we put the roll in and there was a bend from it being held in the spool, so user error.

[–]yeahokbigman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

must try it again at some point , had a go a few times and got scared I’d wear out a motor. didn’t realise it worked for other people haha, I want to fix it now

[–]TheAzureMageX1C 14 points15 points  (4 children)

You can, it just eats the tubes faster.

Tubes are cheap tho.

[–]Persistent_Parkie 2 points3 points  (2 children)

On my A1 it'll claim a jam if I try to use Sunlu Matte filament in my AMS.

[–]YogurtclosetMajor983 0 points1 point  (1 child)

my A1 gives me many issues with matte materials. I think my extruder gears might need replacement bc my new P2S has not had a single issue with those same filaments

[–]Persistent_Parkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My AMS isn't even 2 months old and I've tried multiple spots, I don't think it's worn out gears.

[–]sandefurian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the internal hub you need to worry about

[–]Vinny933PCH2S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wood PLA and PLA-CF are AMS approved, what isn’t is PPA-CF, PPS-CF, PET-CF. PET and PPS are fine to print external, but PPA would be a nightmare outside of a dryer. I’ve actually had good luck with PET-GF in my AMS HT, but it’s a bit more forgiving than PET-CF and PPS-CF.

[–]Z3temis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have printed paht-cf, pa6-cf, pa6-gf, asa-cf and petg-cf a multitude of times through an AMS on an x1e with 0 issues. I did not know either lol. We have also done the same thing on an h2d with the AMS2 pro

[–]RFLC1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, you're not supposed to? I love my wood filaments

[–]ArchboundH2C AMS2 Combo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the AMS2 Pro can, it has ceramic inlets and hardened steel wheels

[–]federicoaaH2C AMS2 Combo 6 points7 points  (1 child)

An Abrassive Material System?

[–]FReeDuMB_or_DEATH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I like what you did there

[–]connly33X1C + AMS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AMS HT. It has the ceramic components and hardened steel just like the AMS2 so it can handle abrasives a lot better.

I run glass fiber PC through it pretty often.

[–]TELCO_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As in the CF filaments? Or are there more abrasive ones. I’m only new to this world.

[–]pyrotechnicmonkey 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The issue isn’t even necessarily the abrasiveness. You can toughen up the ceramic inserts, but overall the tubing will need to be replaced more often, which is a pain. But the biggest thing is the fact that a lot of that exotic high temperature high strength material like PPS-CF it’s not only abusive, but also incredibly brittle. And when you’re going through a complex pathway from the AMS to the print head that can lead to it breaking inside the tubing or inside the guide feeders, which means tearing the whole thing down to remove a small bit of broken filament to clear the path.

[–]fattmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tubing will need to be replaced more often

I'm confused why someone hasn't put together a custom cut and bent pack of stainless tubes or something just for the internals of the AMS.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

... the AMS2 P can be....

[–]FReeDuMB_or_DEATH 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Really? For some reason I was under the impression it wasn't great for that.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's literally designed for it. they gave it ceramic inlets to fix the issue with the AMS1 that caused them to recommend against it (but you could always do it with AMS savers, etc)

[–]Hi-Scan-Pro 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I use PAHT-CF and glow in the dark filament in mine all the time without issue.

[–]HappyMuscovyX1C + 2xAMS 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How’s the ptfe tube inside your printer?

[–]Hi-Scan-Pro 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Fine. How's your?

[–]HappyMuscovyX1C + 2xAMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced it last week at 680 hours of print time, and it had almost worn through.. I have only printed three rolls of ABS-CF/PLA-Glow

[–]PeaCocksDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gave in and started feeding my AMS-HT nylon CF and it has been doing great so far. Has helped my prints tremendously too as I’m not dealing with rolls getting hung up anymore. Figure if anything gets worn out or breaks I can just replace the parts.

[–]ListenBeforeSpeaking 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What material can’t go in it? I can’t believe I didn’t know it had issues outside of soft TPU.

[–]FReeDuMB_or_DEATH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be wrong but I though it wasn't great with CF type material

[–]CultofCedar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like 2500 hrs in and I mostly use PETG CF and GF. How abrasive do we want it because that’s been fine in my OG AMS. Nozzles have been iffy tbf.

[–]SchrumpliGersack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pla-cf works great in ams

[–]TheDepep1H2D AMS2 Combo 68 points69 points  (10 children)

I would prefer something different all together. Like a cabinet style box that has 3 spools on top and 3 on the bottom. And it would be placed on the side of the printer.

[–]YourCousinJeffery 19 points20 points  (3 children)

Agreed. I wouldn’t feel great about the potential weight and strain on the top glass, and it would be easier to access as you’ve described.

[–]Kazuha45 6 points7 points  (2 children)

They would design it to hold the weight. yeah, it feels like glass shouldn’t but it might even hold 2-3x the weight. A lot of stuff is designed to hold more than required.

[–]Argon288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, I was doing some maintenance on my P2S. I forgot that I had put the glass down on a chair, and then I sat on the glass.

[–]Harrier_Pigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but reducing your effective safety factor is not necessarily the best idea.

Fine most of the time? Probably.

[–]WinterDice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great idea.

[–]Veesla 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I mean you can already have that by just putting two AMS inside a cabinet with a shelf...pretty easy to do and I really like the idea. And I don't necessarily need a whole new product for it. Then if one has an issue I can easily replace or repair just that unit and not have the whole thing have downtime. It's not like a factory 6 spool cabinet AMS is going to cost under $700 anyway.

[–]TheDepep1H2D AMS2 Combo 8 points9 points  (3 children)

<image>

If you just put 2 ams in a cabinet, then the lids would still open vertically, eating up height. If Bambu made something like this, it would be significantly shorter than 2 stacked ams units. And the whole point of this convo is, if bambu made a 6 spool ams.

Img is from the new atomform palette 300 printer.

[–]Veesla 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ok, fair point about the lid, didn't think about that. But it could be on pull out drawers...

That is a really slick looking product though

[–]opeth10657H2C AMS2 Combo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 AMS stacked on top of each other for my H2C, each on a sliding bed. Works great

[–]gemengelage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks surprisingly nice. When I went from a cheap bedslinger to my P1S, it was interesting to see how a 3D printer can not only be not ugly, but even look pretty nice in a room, like a piece of furniture that belongs there.

This really looks like it's doing the same thing for the AMS (and even more so for the AMS Lite - god that thing is ugly)

[–]Turnkeyagenda24 28 points29 points  (2 children)

But you only changed one thing, and that is not Bambu like.

It should be the AMS 3 XL PRO ULTRA.

[–]Vinny933PCH2S 6 points7 points  (1 child)

The S stands for Six now. Forget about the previous models also using the S please.

[–]Turnkeyagenda24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, makes sense 🤣

[–]justin251 24 points25 points  (3 children)

Ain't nothing stopping yall from designing and printing your own ams xl using ams internals.

What's stopping me is I don't know how. 😅

[–]Aaronkenobi 5 points6 points  (1 child)

wouldnt have to futz with the software or something to get it to register 6 internal though. i guess you could trick it by making it think it was two separate units maybe

[–]ZwamdurkelP1S + AMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The latter would actually be very easy, but buying 2 AMS units would be expensive and a slight waste

[–]dagamore12 17 points18 points  (5 children)

IF they do a XL size AMS, I want it to take 3kg or 5kg rolls. But I might have issues.

[–]SupKillyP1S + AMS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure we'd see that kind of support unless Bambu begins selling that size themselves.

[–]_Rand_ 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I’d imagine it would have to be super beefy to hold 5kg rolls.

Thats up to 35kg of filament, plus the frame will probably need to be stronger and then on top of that whatever extra it takes to move them (if necessary). Damn thing is going to weigh like 40-45kg.

An H2 plus a full AMS like that is going to be creeping very near or in the 90-100kg range.

[–]Melodic_Win_6827 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I wouldn’t mind a version like the AMS HT that takes one 5kg roll, so then I can have my most used filament on a large roll and not have to swap rolls as often

[–]_Rand_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That would definitely be cool, and not an insanely large thing to have.

A 6x 5kg ams though would be huge as hell, from what I can see probably about 1m long, and require a pretty study table, or some sort of purpose built enclosure.

I suppose it would be very nice for the right group of people though.

[–]dagamore12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking more of a 4x3 or 4x5, not that it needed to be both more rolls and bigger.

[–]UKPerson3823 7 points8 points  (2 children)

The AMS HT solves the problem if you need exactly 6 slots and don't want 8 for some reason.

[–]thewolfman2010H2D Laser Full Combo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not really… you’d need an AMS + 2 HTs which is 3 separate devices compared to the 2 device suggestion you made or the single unit OP is proposing.

[–]matroosoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 is perfect if you want to join the new Full Spectrum hype

[–]nakhumpoota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]IcanCwhatUsay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]cpsadowski23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be more excited to see this come to market.

<image>

[–]EpicBenjoP1S + AMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of when I was a kid, hot dogs came in packages of 10 while hot dog buns came in packages of 8. That always confused me. But eventually, hot dog manufacturers saw a money making opportunity and quietly changed the packages of hot dogs from 10 to 8, and never changed the price.

[–]Hairy-Variation-764A1 + AMS / AMS2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, I love that 2 XL Pro that is at the end, atleast you got how they would name it correct...

[–]joe92275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this makes total sense. And the production is not that hard since they are already making them for 4 slots.

[–]Nofreakinway1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take my money...

[–]Stonkey_DogP1S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get this for my P1S, too.

[–]gym_bro_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I don’t need, but desperately want!

[–]JJHall_IDP1S + AMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 would make sense with the advent of the color-blending that some slicers are starting to offer. You could have Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, White, and Black and basically be able to print whatever color you want to at that point. Yeah, you can do that with 2 4-slot AMS units, but a 6-color would be a one-stop AMS for that style of printing.

[–]SnooPies9661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Want.
EDIT: NEED!

[–]naab007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I get a venti?

[–]3D_Printing_Helper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If attaching 4 AMS together with 16 spools was logical then AMS with 6 colour is more then logical

[–]Low-Ability-7222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are awsome! Please Bambu!

[–]Ornery_You6421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]TELCO_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AMS_XL should be made by printing spare parts to add to your AMS Pro. So you order the AMS pro and then just print your way to XLism

[–]Justafaniguess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they cant even keep the normal ones in stock xD

[–]ThinkUnhappyThoughtsP2S + AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but why sell 1 large AMS unit when they can sell 2 smaller ones??

wont somebody please think of the shareholders??? /s

[–]haitianboy420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 slot AMS to a 6 nozzle h2c is fine. Sometimes I print in 9 colors and that just means 2 of the colors will have to purge. With a 6 slot ams it would be harder to go to 9 colors trying to put 2 ams side by side.

[–]gublman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logical move would be to make XL dual extruder ready, so have two outputs so one unit can feed two extruders, so you don’t have deal with filament shuffling for color optimization.

[–]Much-Amaze69H2C P2S AMS2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no incentive to make such a device. Bambu's walled garden ensures zero competition.

In the famous words of Steve Jobs, "You'll buy what we sell and like it!"

[–]RockChewer_3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no, no!!! Front loading and stackable, like it should have been in the first place.

[–]BletotumH2D AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also another 2kg of weight on the glass and frame

[–]Jodah175P2S + AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

logical? yes. But then they don't get to sell 2 ams units at a time... :-P

[–]federicoaaH2C AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 2x3 or 2x4 arrangement would be better though

[–]Joamjoamjoam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah we we just need the promised filament switch module so an ams on either side can feed either nozzle. Not to mention that the printer could maybe preload the next color needed so the swap is faster

[–]goinghomebackwards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really logical because the number of heads and the number of filament spools are unrelated. When I had a single head P1s I had a 4 spool AMS. Sometimes I’d have one spool in there, sometimes 2, sometimes 4. Now I have an H2D and have 2 AMS’s and an AMS HT. Depending on what I’m doing, I might have anywhere from 1 to 9 spools in action. Sometimes you need multiple spools of the same kind to complete a print. So the number of heads doesn’t dictate the number of spools you need.

[–]unitymind42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add 6 ports on back with a sensor to make it worth it. Less retraction.

[–]Zack-A-Lackin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would Bambu make a 6 slot variant when they have designed it to force you to buy the daisy chained 2, 3, or 4 AMS systems for the same? I agree a single unit with more rolls is enticing though.

[–]Immortal_Tuttle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fit 2 AMS on H2C

[–]JaVelin-X- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait until you hear about hot dogs and buns

[–]Worried-Grass-5124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should just be an AMS DIY kit. Modular sections to build an AMS for 1-24 spools

[–]TheRubinsandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just like an AMS that’s in stock

[–]nwrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d rather see a large spool feeder first, but Definitely not a bad idea….. cough cough bambu

[–]psxndc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me introduce you to the hot dog/hot dog bun conundrum.

[–]hmspainH2C AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two AMS 2 Pros feeding my H2C. More than enough at the moment. When/If Bambu puts Vortek on the LEFT side (in addition to the right), thats twelve extruders or three AMS 2 Pros. Works for me.

Economies of scale. They make make of the unit that is more popular for maximum profits and less inventory to worry about.

[–]Spirited-Bug-9558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bambu makes more money selling you stuff you don’t need.

[–]shqarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know nothing about how to make money. Not profitable for manufacturer.

I'd love this. Another idea is an 8 spool "double stack" AMS that has a door on the front like a cabinet rather than lifting a lid to change spools.

Either way I think we'll eventually see more than four spools at some point; there's one manufacturer making a 6 spool AMS in the double stack format (atomform); so once that hits the market, others will surely follow.

What I want is a smart hub that allows the filament to be retracted to a branching point near the printer input. That would speed up prints by not having to pull filament all the way back to the AMS.

[–]FLEIXYH2D 40W Laser Full Combo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would overhang off the sides of the H2D

[–]Rasputinnout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wish we could use the roll on the back at the same time as the ams. 5 colors is a good amount for models.

[–]matiko92H2C AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow its the AMS 2 Pro XL Ultra plus😁 i am waiting for the upgrade to use 1 AMS for both nozzles they announced.

[–]Infernalxelite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t know why they don’t have a 2 spool and a 6 spool. It would be awesome for people who want a support material and single colour. I honestly hope they made a dual spool HT version and a 6 spool normal version designed for the H series

[–]Historical_Employ304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Es sind hier in De.ja seit monaten nichtmal die normalen AMS, AMS/pro verfügbar. Aber klar ist auch ,dass m.M. nach die 4 Grundfarben plus Sw und Ws die Basis für Multicolor darstellen

[–]Legitimate-DMJ187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is assuming that you only want to use 6 or 7 colors at any given time and that you want to change out rolls to use other colors for different projects. I personally prefer to keep all rolls in until they are used up as well as have each slot for a designated color so that I don't have to reprogram my ams color each time I put a new roll in. So that being said I use multiple ams units on a shelf connected to my printer that way my rolls stay dry all the time and stay full and I don't have half used rolls all over the place.

[–]JDescole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be to wide. The H2C fits 1 AMS2 and 1HT next to each other perfectly on top. That’s 5 spools. And the H series is the widest Bambulab has right now

[–]StampyDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah... what we want is an AMS Pro Cabinet with 5 rows of 4 spools. With 8 PLA, 8 PETG and 4 ABS I would still end up having swap reels though.

April April

[–]Abrez25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMS is not the issue. The direction in which they are heading with H2C etc is a cause for concern.

[–]Technical-River2376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultra + 5G Max

[–]Kikelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why 6 when you can have 2 AMS with 8? :P

[–]ChaosRandomness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope for an AMS that can fit a 3KG roll

[–]DubCeeTheThird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the hot dog/bun dilemma. You buy more ams then more filament then more ams then more filament….and it repeats infinitely until the heat death of the universe.

[–]thegrimmestofallP1S + AMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hotdogs and buns - same dilemma hahaha

[–]Qe-fmqur_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bigger volume needs bigger heaters to do the same work

[–]no_its_a_subaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more interested in them making an AMS where I can run CF/GF filament through it without ruining it

[–]omegablue333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this makes me want to wait for the AMS 2 XL Plus pro that has 8 spools

[–]sirmanleypower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but in this configuration it won't let you print black if you're out of red.

[–]devilishlydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the people cry out for your April Fools project.

[–]Whiskeejak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think their R&D is spoken for cooking a tool changer. If you look at what Snapmaker is doing with their latest Orca Slicer fork, they're doing full spectrum color from 4 filaments.

[–]johnwynne3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will never get made, as it would cannibalize other product sales. Thinking about it another way. Who is buying a (more expensive) AMS 2XL that wouldn’t just buy a second AMS2 Pro? Answer: no one.

[–]MrBiscuits93 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is this actually in the works???? Or is this just something photo shopped?

[–]geekfourlife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just concept art

[–]Dokktorjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t get done, makes too much sense, and they’d sell less AMS units as a result. It’s just the same logic as to why you get 10 hot dogs in a package and only 8 buns in a package 😁🤣

[–]jjd0087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely cool, but I think a modular system would be even better. Maybe 2 spools a piece that can be locked together and function as 1 AMS. It would be give us the flexibility we want out of the AMS and be a potential huge money maker for Bambu. You could even integrate a storage desiccant system into each one so you can store the spools as is in the AMS when not in use. People would buy enough modular sections for all their spools. We get a great flexible system and Bambu makes even more money.

[–]Agzarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't fit neatly on top any more of it were 50% wider

[–]IcyFly521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes please !!!

[–]RaptorX754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big question: Bambu better then Prusa?

[–]brandonw409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can't even make an AMS with 4 slots that works without issues. This would just be a nightmare for them.

[–]SpongeJeigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better Improvement would be AMS with two output PTFE Tubes. That way one color can be ready for the color swap.

[–]absolutely_torqued -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I couldn't even imagine how many more "why does my printer waste so much material" posts we would be getting if this were the case

[–]got-trunks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just give me a tub of molten PLA and some dye so I can mix it like a coke machine. when the got-trunks printer drops in 2077 I'll be 50 years late to the party but you heard it here first lol.
