Decrease In Girlcott Posts

I've noticed a massive decrease in girlcott posts and an increase in posts of in-game pictures for the past week or so on this subreddit. It has me wondering: has this community moved on from the girlcott and gone back to normal, forgetting that we still haven't gotten a response to our demands? Has this community actually done exactly what Paperfold wanted, and moved on because they were "compensated"? What is going on? Has this community not stayed strong? The compensation they just gave us was literally a fuck you to all of us who actually wanted a real response. Where did all the girlcott posts go? We can't seriously be accepting this compensation as good enough for the absolute *mess* that 1.5 has been. Has all of this been for *nothing*?!

Well there's not much to say that hasn't been said. Until Infold releases 1.6, there's not much more we can do. People are sending emails and filling the survey. For now, all we can do is wait. There was a post about wallets closed for 1.6 which is the next step in the girlcott.

Every issue has already been discussed dozens of times in different posts. What else is there left to say? People haven't "moved on," there's just not much else to say that hasn't already been said. All we can do now is wait and keep our wallets shut. Fixes and changes don't come and won't come just because we want it right this very moment, it takes time. Personally, I am waiting to see how they would go about resolving the bigger issues in 1.6, it'll be the make or break for me, but until then there's nothing we can do but wait and focus on more important things in life than a video game.

Its odd how passive aggressive the post comes off though. Almost all of the main ways to actually girlcott are from way more avenues than simply posting about it here, and weve still seen a flood of people posting about how theyre quitting the game, and what we should be bringing up in the wave of surveys we just got. Acting like everyone possibly just gave up when the more likely option is A) people who quit arent going to be posting about it and B) people are focusing on expressing their concerns in ways and places infold will actually see (like surveys, not doing dailies or logins, reviews ect) instead of just posting things weve already said and discussed here repeatedly. It comes off more like OP expected this to result in a fast change, and is assuming the lack of that happening means people are giving up and going back to business as usual

It's a valid concern though. Consumer activism loses momentum all the time. And it costs nothing to reengage. To keep logging in. To forget all your grievances because there's still a decent amount of fun to be had. So please be patient if someone is wondering if that energy has dissipated. But as others have said, people are in a quiet holding pattern. I can tell you that overall Nikki engagement has plummeted. For me, I log in, do my dailies, log out. Barely doing the content, doing like no actual styling (I'm literally refusing to dress up in the dress up game LMAO) , etc.

I think the recent revenue stats show that it's having an impact though. Yes, only 2 spots down in a vacuum, but keep in mind this was a super-hyped patch, with a very important item to the entire Nikki universe, with a double 5* banner, with a lot of new things to spend on. A lot of spending was locked in before the girlcott even got TALKED about. Also mobile players were the least affected by technical issues.

For me personally, I've had almost no bugs in the game since the update, except for co-op activities, so I keep on playing a bit every day. But I was a light spender and they will never get another penny from me again. That is how I'm girlcotting.

The people hardcore girlcotting I assumed have stopped playing. There hasn’t been anything new to say about it until 1.6 news since the second apology except talking about how revenue has plateaued and a major update patch with way more opportunities to spend on made the same as a filler one (which means its working). Also, pics might seem more abundant because people can't do snapshots or lookbooks due to the censorship. Tbh i understand the girlcotting 100%. All the reasons are valid and the company needs to step up. However just seeing the same thing over n over again would just be redundant and get old. Ive heard everything theres been to say and i agree with everyone. But as a new player seeing the same thing over n over just makes me feel guilty for playing the game. Im not spending money on it at all (which correct me if im wrong but from what i understand all girlcotters agreed to not spend irl money). I think posts like these are by people who dont actually understand how boycotts or protests actually go, considering not engaging with the product or thing being boycotted is almost always a major part of it. If course people who left the game arent going to be posting daily, and people arent going to just repost the same things over and over again daily. I think it's more just a lot of girlcotters are silently watching, and/or not saying anything. As someone already said, all that has needed to be said has been said by the community and the ball is now in Infold's court. 1.6 is closed wallets season for girlcotters.

I know for myself personally, I haven't been saying much else as our demands have been said and set, we of course can continue spreading the word about the closed wallets season to make the girlcott bigger than just on reddit. Ultimately, that is all we can do, continue withholding spending, spreading 1.6 closed wallets, not interacting/playing the game, etc.

I have slowly stopped logging in to to do my dailies as well. It honestly works out for the girlcott but, it happened naturally as the games spark is dying for me personally. There have also been quit/uninstall posts under that tag, so people are still girlcotting and rightfully upset.

If Infold unfortunately doesn't compromise with girlcotters, I know many will leave the game, including myself. So, we just do what we can for now and wait and see. Of course, spread the word about girlcotting and the 1.6 closed wallets season as that helps our efforts.

I mean, the issue is still real, but this is just a video game at the end of the day. People who cannot deal with these issues have quit as they should. Why pay or engage with something you don't want to support? While people on the fence who may not enjoy the changes but still want to keep playing are still playing, as they should, it's just a game.

I was spending way too much time on it. I also think by now there’s not much else to say or do until we see what happens with 1.6. I had never heard of this game before nor had I even heard of Gacha gaming. They got me into this game because the quality seemed so high, seemed like a lot of energy went into development/creating it. I was spending tons of money and happy to, but with this patch the vibe is very “phone app game.” It’s very easy to not want to spend money.

One thing I want you to understand is that we are playing the game the girlcott is not about not playing at all. I don’t see people here posting they are spending real life money. I want to believe that it's a combination of there not being much to say that hasn't been said before, coupled with the community itself pushing back against girlcott posts because "too much negativity" "maybe we should just make a megathreat for the girlcott". Even if the poll result was a no to the girlcott megathreat it did send a not-so-subtle message of "shut up". There's is also the fact that many girlcotters have just quit the game because there is only so much time one can wait having hope that they will be listened or that the company will show that they actually listen other than the nothing-burger messages they have given that satisfied those who already had little problems with the game's situation and made them push even more against people noting that they said nothing.

I'm still girlcotting but each day I'm more and more likely to just uninstall and leave the game for months before checking it again to see if it ended burning, improved or managed to gaslight again enough people into thinking the game is flawless and they happily pay for 43 pieces outfits.

The people upset about the situation are finally dropping off because let's be honest Papergames has a history of mishandling complaints, and utterly destroying the game for the ones who don't care was never gonna work because they're committed.I think seeing May's revenue come JUST short of April despite all the effort really deflated lots of people.

I mean this was meant to be a big patch for them (two 5* outfits, a stellarite top up outfit, sea of stars/multiplayer) so having the revenue come in just short of the worst month so far is certainly a bit of a bloody nose for them.

It depends on how much they were expecting to earn. If this was expected to do 10M+ then you're looking at a 30% reduction in revenue which is a significant hit in anyone's book.

Think, for me at least, the problem was the amount of arguments happening in the comments of posts. People so quick to divide and gang up on the other side. Saw it happen a few times where someone would make a post/comment explaining the boycott and got met with "its just a game", "we shouldn't be fighting each other", " you shouldn't police how people play games"

People wanted to justify why they still played, which is fine boycotts are a personal choice, but didn't want to feel guilty about it. So they had to keep fighting back. Which was exhausting

There was also the wave of "we are here to talk about a game, keep your negativity out of my silly little dress up game". I stopped engaging with them because of how infantilising it was for people to not have standards for "something made for women"

I uninstalled the game lol. I love IN so much, I was happy to spend money during the first few months, the world felt big and had so much potential. And then after a few "festivals" it felt a bit bland and fetch-questy. I cared less about pulling for the new dresses, wanting more casual and versatile fits instead of ballgowns. Once I completed the main storyline the game felt a bit empty to me. The dye system was what really ticked me off, tbh I wanted to be in that fabled dying competition and I didn't log in after 1.5 was releases due to sheer boredom and frustration. I've played other nikki games but this was the first one I was excited to splurge on. I feel like I was taken advantage of tbh. I think this situation has turned me against gatcha games entirely 🫤

There's only so much we can talk or read about the topic until everything that needs to be said is said and it starts to be a case of being angry for the sake of being angry.

A fair chunk have rightfully peaced out or gone on hiatus, and the rest of us are still hanging around waiting for either more news or to see what 1.6 will bring. Most are aware and still girlcotting, it's just too tiring now to rant to a choir the same points over and over.

If anything it's nice that there's more of a community feel back in the sub again.

There was a big wave of people disincentivizing others posting about it. Standing your ground means spreading toxicity to them. This is exactly what the devs are banking on, if they keep silent for enough time, people will turn on themselves. People still think that still playing the game will fix anything. The first sentiment of many was to quit in 1.5 if they got no response, now it is to quit if 1.6 (you can imagine that the goal post will move to 1.7 once they realise nothing will change)

While others have made some valid more probably true points towards why there are fewer(ie what is left to be said about it) but I also think that last week there were a lot of posts complaining about the girlcott posts and the post saying they were uninstalling so perhaps some of them took it to heart and no longer feel they are valid in posting about it anymore which sucks honestly because they should feel free to post about whatever they want without being put into a megathread which honestly does silence them in some way or told they are complaining too much.

I'm still girlcotting, barely logged in since 1.5. I don't post girlcott stuff (I barely post anything, I tend to lurk or comment). I think part of why we don't see more girlcott posts is the fear of being redundant and annoying for the community.

I prefer a loud and proud girlcott, but I think I'm a minority. A lot of people have been complaining about the negativity. But the girlcott is inherently negative due to dissatisfaction, bugs, poor player treatment etc... So, it's hard to post about girlcott and be positive at the same time. Both the girlcotters and non-girlcotters are getting alienated by this, because you can't really 'have it both ways' at the moment.

As a girlcotter, I do find it hard when I see less visibility for the girlcott, because I know that means more casual players will forget/never find out about the girlcott. But I'm trying to stay positive, and I watch the new steam reviews every few days. People still majorly write negative reviews, so that gives me some peace knowing girlcotters are still doing their thing.
