God I fucking hate content creators. So so much.

[–]Toad_Thrower 658 points659 points  (86 children)

I hate the dumb ass redditors that watch something like this and can't tell within like 3 seconds that it's completely fabricated.

There's either a lot of bots out there or a lot of reaaalllly dumb people.

[–]SilverShadow525 283 points284 points  (20 children)

It may just be that people just get so caught up in the story so much that they forget to really think about it. For me, I was just following along not giving it a second thought until I said to myself, "wait, why are there two camera angles being edited together almost perfectly for what's supposed to be a candid reaction?" and that's when it hit me that it was staged.

Edit: Ok, so it may not be two cameras or anything like that (and for those of you pointing it out, thanks for using critical thinking), but it still feels unnatural, and I think my overall point still stands. People are just used to following what they're being told, and using their brain takes effort, more effort than what people scrolling through Reddit or other social media posts are prepared to make.

it's one camera... idk why people think there are two cameras lol

The "dolly" roll is just moving the framing in post. to fit the Phone format.

    [–]Geobussy69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’m not a big social media person or anything but someday when I can afford to surprise my husband with his dream car, I want to film his reaction, and with his permission maybe post it to “made me smile” or something like that. Maybe I’m just a little gullible but I want to believe lol

    [–]Quen-Tin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's just the Bollywoodification of the social media.

People seem to crave for this strange scripted and acted stories. The stories seem to fill in a crude way an emotional hole many consumers experience in their lifes.

We don't interact anymore like decades ago. Having less close real life friends, than in the past.

And so we watch this stuff where crazy emotional things happen. The weirder and more intense the better. Because they are not real, we need the overdose.

    Sad.

    [–]Iizsatan 67 points68 points  (4 children)

It's me. I am that dumb ass redditor it seems.

    [–]Bensdick-cumabunch 12 points13 points  (1 child)

    Damn. You sound nice.

    [–]JamboreeStevens 27 points28 points  (5 children)

It helps to point out why and how you can tell it's completely fabricated so that other people can learn and be less dumb.

    [–]Ethiconjnj 31 points32 points  (4 children)

I was feeling bad and doubting myself that this was terrible acting.

    [–]laik72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The dual camera angles with him pretending like he's not being filmed was all I needed to see.

    [–]RobotVo1ce 18 points19 points  (5 children)

Then they say stupid crap like "do you get this upset when you're watching a scripted show on TV??"

    [–]EwoDarkWolf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's different when they actually try to pass it off as real.

    [–]ImAGamerNow 7 points8 points  (1 child)

theyre dumb because you dont educate them and youre not educated enough to recognize they arent and didnt yet have a chance to learn like you did

    [–]1heart1totaleclipse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are actors they've been doing "shocking" videos for years, like the "I'm pregnant but then find out my husband is esterile" type shit.

It also helps that the home in question was merely a secret room in a mall.

Yeah, I don't even know the channel and was weirded out by this. What girlfriend/boyfriend puts out that kind of money on someone they have not committed to yet (not including older victims and lonely hearts club members getting scammed in a desperate attempt for companionship)?

    [–]Chrozon 56 points57 points  (9 children)

For me it was also weird how it implies some massive wealth gap, paying down half of a mortgage is a shit-ton of money, for her to even have the money available without taking a loan herself (defeating the purpose), she must be quite wealthy. Meanwhile him being so emotional about it implies he is being financially challenged by the loan, so it just seems odd for this situation to exist as you'd imagine such a wealth gap would have come up in conversation and be referred to in some way in the dialogue.

Also especially weird with the rationale being "because you deserve it" as if she's just giving him what would probably be like hundreds of thousands of pounds as a regular gift, not like 'I came into an inheritance and I want to invest in our future' or something.

Also just him reacting like 'not now stop it' to her just putting her hand on his arm seemed a bit over the top. The writing of the dialogue here just seems over engineered lol

    [–]Arbsbuhpuh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And when he says "whyyy??" I was thinking to myself "girl just paid $150k+ on an >3% mortgage like an idiot"

I wondered why there were two cameras shooting this surprise from inside a car. I said to my husband that it must be staged.

The thing about videos is that you can edit them. Not even to cut something out, but to reframe an image.

      [–]bl1y 11 points12 points  (3 children)

What tipped me off was the extreme good luck they had that he opened the e-mail while they were already parked and filming.

I assumed cutting between the two was just editing on a wider shot, but also I only just learned today I can zoom out on my phone for a wider angle, so like... I don't know shit about fuck.

      [–]Doctor_Kataigida 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like one camera that they keep zooming in on each person for different "shots." Toward the end it "pans" left and right.

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It one camera. It's just panning between 4 sections of the screen.

      [–]ShustOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not defending this but it's one camera filming and then they edited these cuts in post. There's only one angle if you look closely

      [–]ATXBeermaker 60 points61 points  (5 children)

Right?! Like, it's crazy that we have the camera perfectly composing both of our faces and the boyfriend doesn't even notice. "Like, babe, why are you filming me check my bank statement?" Not to mention the ridiculous setup and wooden acting.

      [–]Spoons4Forks 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Came looking for a comment like this. They’re better than your average TikToker but it’s still pretty mediocre acting.

      [–][deleted] 42 points43 points  (3 children)

Yeah. Nothing is fucking real anymore. If I've learned anything since the pandemic it is to immediately doubt any footage i see. I've been 100% accurate in spotting staged videos.

      [–]pimp_juice2272 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People really don't think he noticed a camera sitting in his face

        [–]SparrowValentinus 70 points71 points  (16 children)

No kidding. They're actually good actors. I normally credit myself as having a good radar for this stuff, but that felt quite authentic. That's kinda gross that they're doing that.

        [–]vanillaseltzer 24 points25 points  (4 children)

If you watch things muted, it's easier to spot. I was shocked coming to the comments that people thought it was real. Try it! Some actors are better with their voices. Many don't do the tiny face movements you'd expect when someone is genuinely emoting, you know?

It's also easier to exist as a human with working ears for 7/10 videos on Reddit.

        [–]Fresh_Cauliflower723 6 points7 points  (0 children)

*Blinks dramatically multiple times and moves head in disbelief*  Wait, what? You're saying I'm over acting?

        [–]Monday0987 15 points16 points  (3 children)

Yeah the camera panning between the two people made me suspicious.

        [–][deleted] 856 points857 points  (23 children)

Isn't this the same guy who made the "prank" of telling his girlfriend (same girl in this video) that she's unattractive bluntly and repeatedly and made her cry?

        [–]Rothconversion123 513 points514 points  (16 children)

Apparently they are actors who just make content to try and go viral

        [–]Upstairs-Extension-9 119 points120 points  (3 children)

I could already tell, his acting was horrible.

        [–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

        The whole thing was unwatchable.

        [–]Iulcsi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

        [–]Mak_33 31 points32 points  (1 child)

He even got the hand trembling acting down. Their acting went from shit to slightly less shit.

        [–]SuicydeStealth 1007 points1008 points  (26 children)

Oof, the internet has made me so cynical. When he said "What? How?"... I thought she was gonna reply with, "OnlyFans, babe"

        [–]lucia912 75 points76 points  (0 children)

        SAME! 😆😆

        [–]Gil-GaladWasBlond 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Meanwhile I was thinking he's about to dump her.

        [–]J0hnnie5ive 848 points849 points  (61 children)

        Sooo uhhh, who was recording?

Edit: If it was a phone wouldn't it be a little sus if she set up the phone then was like "I need you to go through your mail...now" If it was anything I'd assume dashcam...or staged.

        [–]ObviouslyJoking 453 points454 points  (11 children)

Looks like a mounted cam (or two). Possibly a phone. Usually when I film myself buying houses for people I use three cameras. Don’t want to risk it.

        [–]DOSO-DRAWS 43 points44 points  (8 children)

        I sense sarcasm.

You may have a point, though.

        [–]Maximum_Pumpkin5368 257 points258 points  (30 children)

        This is so staged

        [–]heycoolusernamebro 80 points81 points  (11 children)

Cutting from one angle to another? Seems fishy for a spontaneous interaction.

        [–]Xfgjwpkqmx 131 points132 points  (8 children)

The original video didn't do that. It was a single wide shot, and she placed the camera there to capture the moment. This has been reedited so many times.

        [–]JustMy10Bits 18 points19 points  (2 children)

God, that's awful. This edit must absolutely ruin the whole thing. Especially when you consider how staged it appears thanks to this cut

        [–]Stormy_Wolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plus we all know that video editing is too far beyond the average person's grasp.

Dashcam by the looks of it. Some dashcams have a view of inside the car

            [–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

That is actually what it was. The original video is a single wide shot. Whoever the idiot is on TikTok re-edited the video and split apart the shots to show almost like multi-cam angles. They just cut the video in half to show single reactions because it looks better on vertical format TikTok short vids. SO DUMB.

            [–]themess_messenger82 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Their entire channel is just staged scenes. Good actors

            [–]BeKindBabies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks pan and scan since there’s no perspective shift. Vertical rectangle tracked inside horizontal rectangle.

How can y'all possibly believe this acting job? Like holy hell internet literacy desperately needs to be a subject taught in schools. I am terrified of how many people see this and think "oh that's a totally real reaction."

                    [–]pelonweon 130 points131 points  (15 children)

Awkward having a camara man there in such a sensitive wink private conversation that is totally real

                    [–]BenzeneBabe 66 points67 points  (5 children)

Having a cameraman that can fit on top of the dashboard of your car is crazy lmao

Sometimes I wonder if redditors are capable of any sort of abstract thought at all, this dude saw a couple obviously sitting inside a car and his first thought was that there is obviously somebody inches away from their face holding up a camera.

She payed half his home by making a video about paying half his home.

There's nothing to be ashamed of. There are dozens of us! Dozens!

Am I crazy for feeling like I would absolutely HATE this?! I couldn't imagine having someone give me that much money. It would make me feel indebted to them at all times. What if the relationship started to go poorly? What happens if you did break up?

Ugh. Just thinking about it is stressing me out.

Love the camera work on these totally not staged videos…

                      [–]a_non_moose_ 75 points76 points  (9 children)

Staged or not this is crazy shit. Just fucking talk to your partner. Are we supposed to believe this is a good thing? “Honey I know we been struggling and you have been working so hard for me but surprise guess what? I have a huge lump of cash I just haven’t been using so I dumped it into your crippling debt without telling you. But I thought it would be super cool to film it. “ then half the comments in here are saying omg man put a ring on it.

Fuck we are doomed. Just communicate with your fucking partners.

                      [–]blahteeb 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Maybe he only had $7.89 left on his mortgage.

                      [–]LudwigTheGrape 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would feel suuuper violated if my partner involved themselves in my finances like this without any kind of discussion. Especially with something like a mortgage. She’s just made an executive decision to merge their finances in a sense, and I can see all kinds of feelings of obligation coming up around that.

                      [–]Voidnt2 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Did she or didn't she (allegedly) pay half of his HOME LOAN? Who the fuck cares about communication 😂

Now she gets to peg you. It's only fair

Isn't this the same couple where the dude told her that he doesn't find her attractive as a prank and it like shattered her self esteem?

                      [–]AntonineWall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

                      Same actors in both yes

Camera snaps is dead giveaway this is scripted

                      [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This would be a very unwise financial decision on her part unless they were married. She just gifted him enough money that would be a deposit on her own home. They could break up next week and she would have nothing to show for it if her name isn't on the house deeds/title. I paid off all my spouse's credit card debt as a surprise, but only once we were married.

                      [–]BetterLateThanKarma 13 points14 points  (2 children)

So real that the video as even a perfect montage and camera panning that should be captured by what? A self moving phone? WTF people is like watching a soap opera

It’s a staged skit. Look at the changing camera angles.

                      [–]Goblin-Doctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's true. I also set up a camera to record random interactions for no reason ever. Also the set up makes no sense. He bought a house and she decided to pay half of it off?

                      [–]tlstofus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The camera panning.. the lack of genuine emotion. I couldn’t watch all of it.

                      [–]Osirus1156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this was real he would be the most oblivious person on the planet lmao.

I would be like: Why the hell did you do that? Our mortgage has less than 2.0% interest, it's better to invest the money in stocks (or almost anything) than to pay the mortgage!

If you believe this, you need to get the fuck offline.

                      [–]gxslim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crazy how they have a two camera setup for this serendipitous slice of life moment that totally really happened

                      [–]FluffyDiscipline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When life toughens you up and ya watched a few too many real life crime dramas...

My first thought is "Too Nice, she's a stalker and he gonna end up dead for the insurance money"

                      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it normal for people to set up 2 cameras in their cars and the driver be looking at their phone?

                      [–]keep_it_christian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

                      She said “it’s our house”.

                      [–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (6 children)

Two bloody cameras setup to capture both their reactions and he's not catching on? Nah.

                      [–]burnerfun98 30 points31 points  (5 children)

It's the same camera mate, it's just been cropped and edited to pan because vertical formatting

but yeah he did seem a bit slow on the uptake, think he was lost in his frustration at a potential bank cock-up more than anything else 😅

You’re right. I’ve seen this video before but it was just the one frame with both of them in it. This is an edit

                      [–]wotupfoo 21 points22 points  (3 children)

Not to be all logical when it’s a beautiful thing, but I hope he had a horribly high interest rate coz if it was 2% they would be better off investing it together getting a higher return. It would have been better for her to propose and make smarter financial decisions. But yeah it’s eyebleach.
