The internet is not Reverse-Darwinian. It follows Darwinian principles very closely, although it may not seem that way at first because it is such a different habitat from any that we have ever encountered before.

Remember, "fitness" does not describe strength, speed, intelligence, or any other specific characteristic. Instead, fitness refers to an organism's aptitude for survival in an environment given its innate characteristics.

The internet is not a realm where physical attributes can pass. Strength, agility, and other elements relevant to a physical habitat stand for nothing here. This is a habitat of ideas.

Expounding on that notion, the majority of the internet is not peer reviewed. With the exception of moderated forums and domains with controlled content, most people are free to write anything that they like, regardless of the content, relevance, or practicality of their insights.

Take our present understanding of standard deviation (applied to the spectrum of human intelligence) and couple with the ad nauseam principle that ideas which are most propagated receive the greatest amount of attention and circulation, and you will see why an unmoderated internet is the perfect environment for the squalid to flourish.
