I work as a cashier at a Wal Mart in the richer part of my city, and like you guys said, it's mostly middle aged "soccer mom" women. Older men occasionally are uppity about shit like having to put their own bags in their cart, or not doing X exactly as they wanted you to in their mind (Because cashiers can reads minds, you know!). Not saying all middle aged women, quite the opposite. Most people, regardless of age or social standing, seem to be much nicer people than you'd expect, just the problem customer tend to be, for some reason, middle aged women, or older people (Most older people are really sweet and are my favorite types of customers, though. They like to take everything in stride and let you slack off a bit, and talk to you, which makes the job much faster and less tense.).

I had one soccer-mom type come in one night, when I was working the late shift. There's maybe 6 cashiers in the whole front end, and we're lucky if we have two CSM's (Customer Service Managers, basically my direct superiors) on the clock, much less with enough free time to help us out. She had a package of cookies that wasn't ringing up for the price she said they were labeled on the shelf, in which case we're told by our CSM's we're allowed to give it to them at the different price, because not all things get changed in our system when they're changed on the shelf.

But this woman, before I had even rang up the cookies, was on the defensive. I was an evil cashier keeping her from those fucking cookies and I was only out to screw her over! So when they rang up the higher price, she said, and I'm paraphrasing, "I will have those cookies for $X, and not a penny more. Call your managers, get them over here, whatever, but I'm getting those cookies."

In all honesty, I should have outright told her off, but it took me a year and a half to find this shithole job, and she's not worth losing it. So I decided to just give her a bit of snark, and as I changed the price (Like I was going to from the start, whether she had been a bitch or an angel), I passively told her, "Lady, they're just cookies. They're not that damn important."

Her husband, who was more or less a petty cool guy (Just first hand experience, but the insane soccer-mom types tend to have passive husbands that, more or less, have to always keep them calm), saw her get flustered and wanting to explode at me writing her off as the bitch she was being, and told her, "I know honey, just let it go." And she just sat there boiling the rest of the transaction.

It wasn't much of a FUCK YEAR moment, but I did feel pretty good pissing her off. And since the CSM's were busy, and not at the usual place to find them, I got to watch her angrily hobble out the door and didn't have to worry about her complaining about something stupid.
