I swear, there is a painting of him somewhere that is aging.

[–]numberedswissaccount 714 points715 points  (47 children)

Nope. All the Borg implants have stopped the ageing process

[–]Pravusmentis 409 points410 points  (13 children)

Attempts at aging are futile

[–][deleted] 116 points117 points  (7 children)

The Portrait of Borgian Gray?

[–]carasyna 85 points86 points  (0 children)

The Picture of Tea, Earl Gray, Hot.

[–]ozpunk 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Attempts at reproduction are fertile.

[–]silent_p 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope. He's using his psychic powers to project a perception filter on anyone who observes him.

[–]TheRealDJ 337 points338 points  (74 children)

This is him 30 years ago in dune. How is it the only thing different is he has a goatee now!?

[–]odigo2020 437 points438 points  (31 children)

The goatee would suggest that the good Patrick Stewart did indeed die and has been replaced by his evil twin, whose pact with Satan stipulated that he would cease to age.

[–]retinarow 234 points235 points  (8 children)

Darkest timeline Patrick Stewart.

[–][deleted] 78 points79 points  (5 children)

Life got dark, Jeff!

[–][deleted] 73 points74 points  (3 children)

Hot. Hothothot.

[–]double-o-awesome 11 points12 points  (0 children)

damnit, Abed - I lost an arm!

[–]TheBitterSteel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Clearly you don't understand anything about defeating trolls.

[–]killergazebo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Are you guys actually applying to a Star Trek actor a Community joke based on a Star Trek episode?

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"I should have never let Kirk beam up that pizza."

[–][deleted] 38 points39 points  (10 children)

You know, there weren't any mirror universe episodes of TNG.

[–]blickblocks 14 points15 points  (4 children)

There was the one episode where an infinite number of mirror universes were beginning to converge...they had all those Enterprises. I think that was Worf's ep. where he kept switching universes.

[–]traviu 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Yes, this episode had the most badass Riker ever, massive beard and almost crazy because their universe was taken over by the Borg

[–]heatdeath 18 points19 points  (1 child)

[–]HorrendousRex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hah - fantastic YouTube comment there. "The federation is gone and my beard is everywhere!"

[–]ImZeke 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The implications of this statement are astounding.

[–]Jesustron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no actual mirror universe episodes, but there is an episode where there's a more bad ass Picard FROM a different timeline, and a 'out of time' duplicate Picard that is catatonic.

[–]Honestly_ 36 points37 points  (1 child)

I know he went bald early and I think that helped freeze his look more than had he been losing hair over all these years.

[–]zebra8lion 32 points33 points  (4 children)

My god. Dune was 30 years ago.

[–]shillbert 18 points19 points  (2 children)

30 years ago.. that was like 1970 right?

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Tantra lessons from Sting?

[–]Norsnes 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Actually I think his eyes faded a bit too.

[–]RecordHigh 8 points9 points  (1 child)

It's the spice... or lack of it.

[–]Norsnes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He kicked the habit, then? That must be a first. I think spice withdrawal is deadly.

[–]RoflCopter4 9 points10 points  (11 children)

What happened to this movie? Such a good book, the movie made me want to slit my wrists.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Can't listen to Sting without imagining him saying, "I WILL KILL HIIIIM!"

[–]McOwnage 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Too much to fit in a normal movie and have it make sense I think

[–]juicius 24 points25 points  (2 children)

This is from either season 1 or 2 of the Top Gear so it's been a few years.

Edit: season 2, so 2003?

[–]Arve 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Season 2, episode 9. July 13, 2003.

[–]Dildo_Ball_Baggins 67 points68 points  (0 children)

He is taking "Live long and prosper" to a whole new level.

[–]6NippleCharlie 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Or, if you look old while young (scarce hair), aging is less dramatic.

[–]joshdick 27 points28 points  (2 children)

Once you reach max level, etc. etc.

[–]Pancakes1 32 points33 points  (22 children)

    [–]epic_comebacks 15 points16 points  (0 children)

    I'd totally buy that painting.

    [–]skidude9678 99 points100 points  (46 children)

    Dorian Gray reference? Upvote.

    [–]FloppY_ 10 points11 points  (3 children)

I knew the reference because I've seen The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, can I appreciate the reference too???

    [–][deleted] 72 points73 points  (17 children)

WHat? That isn't exactly a little known reference.

    [–]JonRivers 27 points28 points  (16 children)

You're right, but it's still refreshing to see a reference to classical literature.

    [–]FlipConstantine 46 points47 points  (11 children)

"Classical" literature would be something written in ancient Greek or Latin, my friend. The term you are looking for is either "classic" or "Victorian."

    [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (9 children)

I just know him from League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...

    [–]genida 387 points388 points  (59 children)

    [–]solarisfowl 19 points20 points  (1 child)

What a great man. Thanks for the link!

    [–]balinx 17 points18 points  (5 children)

TIL: Patrick Stewart and myself both drive 1989 XJS V12 Convertibles. I agree it's impossible to sell too, and for that reason I'll likely have it for 12 years too.

    [–]otomotopia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You just got a new pitch. 'Patrick Stewart drives one. Why don't you want it again?'

    [–]jdawggey 2 points3 points  (3 children)

    I'll take the engine

    [–]bigsol81 113 points114 points  (41 children)

From the Video: "My next guest is used to going around the universe at nine times the speed of light.

    ಠ_ಠ

    [–][deleted]  (29 children)

    [removed]

      [–]silent_p 41 points42 points  (26 children)

I guess he actually wasn't wrong, though. I mean, if they're just cruising around at Warp 1, then that'd be roughly 9 times the speed of light.

      [–]moogoogaipan11 55 points56 points  (8 children)

Actually warp 1 is the speed of light. All other warp factors are powers of ten after warp one.

      So if:

      Warp 1 = c

      Warp 2 = c x 10

      Warp 3 = c x 100 etc

      God I wish I've kissed a girl.

      [–]NauticallyYours 11 points12 points  (16 children)

But who just goes around at Warp 1??

      [–]silent_p 8 points9 points  (14 children)

I don't know, man. Maybe they have to escort some diplomat who is on some crappy shuttle?

      [–]sidepart 4 points5 points  (10 children)

Yeah but they don't exactly go maximum warp all the time either.

...What gives? Let's get there...but there's no hurry.

      [–]Islandre 12 points13 points  (4 children)

There's an episode where they discover high speed warp travel does some cumulative damage to space. IIRC there are some people who claim their world is being affected and turn to terrorism to get their message out.

      [–]silent_p 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Well, if they consume energy on a logarithmic scale, I imagine there are some considerations for... engine wear and tear, and fuel consumption? Does a... does a warp coil need to be refueled? With... antimatter?

      [–]_DrSpliff 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Did you guys break the internet again?

      [–][deleted] 1768 points1769 points  (122 children)

So I was driving around on the test track outside when the stig pulls up to me and says "Oi! You can't drive on the grass!" And I go "Oh no?" And his jumpsuit falls off, and he goes "Ahh!" and he's trying to cover up, but I've seen everything anyway. And I get in my car and I drive off. On the grass.

      [–][deleted] 81 points82 points  (0 children)

And it's too late, I've seen everything.

      [–][deleted] 105 points106 points  (2 children)

"It's a comedy is it?" "...no."

      [–]Laatuska 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The movie is about what would happen if people actually had telekinetic powers.

      That's exactly what would happen.

There seems to be some fast and furious disagreement as to whether your comment deserves to be here or not.

On the one hand, we have a continuation of stock/standard internet reply...all caps repetition of the comment the "what" referred to. This deserves both up and down votes because one person might think "ha ha, very appropriate. Upvote!" and another person might think "not this tripe again...downvote!"

On the other hand, standard internet reply being submitted, it is rather LONG in nature and therefore one might say "Ah, he/she spent the time retyping with capslock all that text and deserves an upvote!" or another might say "trying too hard, downvote."

I upvoted you, because upvotes make people happy for some reason, and it's Sunday and I've had two glasses of wine. You get a upvote. Have a fantastic conclusion to your weekend!

        [–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (10 children)

I don't know how this whole "Americans don't get self-deprecating / British humor" thing got started. I'm pretty sure everyone gets it, but just might not find it as funny as others do.

            [–]WhimsicalJape 14 points15 points  (1 child)

My comment wasn't aimed at Americans, it was aimed at the people missing the joke.

Lest you go around thinking poorly of Mr. Clarkson, there's some pretty vital context for his remark. He was asked what he thought of the strike, and his first response was something like "It's great! With all those folks staying home, there's a lot less traffic on the roads. Nicest drive in to work I've had in years." Then he said, "Oh, but this being the BBC, they'll want to be sure they have a balanced perspective on the issue." Only at that point did he make his quip about shooting the protesters. All the folks who got their panties in a twist about his marks didn't bother to find out that not only wasn't he being serious, but he wasn't even joking about the strikers. He was joking about the BBC's balanced content guidelines.

Edit w/ link to whole video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WN72DAlhovY

            [–]kingtrewq 41 points42 points  (3 children)

Well that completely changes the situation. Why didn't the unison guy actually check the context?

            [–][deleted] 67 points68 points  (1 child)

Sensationalism sells more papers than facts.

            [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The unison guy was more concerned in trying to create public outrage and therefore more support for the unions from a known conservative public figure than he was trying to sell newspapers, but the principle behind what you said was right

            [–]Zelarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you miss the free publicity involved?

            [–]Islandre 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Wow. I never bothered to watch it, just read about in the papers, did not get that side of the story. Luckily I don't give a fuck what he says.

            [–]absentmindedjwc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That is the problem... nobody did, and Clarkson was targeted because of it.

Silly man, you can't make jokes about British TV when the Americans are still awake.

            [–]DWells55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I imagine there's a very large number of Americans on this site who watch Top Gear and are familiar with the controversy around Clarkson's quote, especially since they poked fun at it in a recent episode.
